Are these good computer game characters

Hello,

For my final year project studying computer games at hull university i have tried to find out what makes a good computer games character.

Anyway, i have done the research and i have created too characters of my own using 3D Studio Max.
I am know getting as many peoples opinion as possible to see if these could be good computer games character.

Here is my female character.
She is supposed to be an archer although she does not have a bow yet

He is designed to be a Gambler (did you guess?)



One last thing, i'd people to be critical but not flame as i want to use as many replies as possible in my assignment.
If you don't want me to include your reply then simple say so, on the other hand, if you do then you can supply your real name if you want to.

GIRL:
The face of your character isn't quite right. Add more fat to the cheeks, bring the forehead out more, work on the knees so they look like ellipses rather than hinges and make the upper thighs a tad thicker. Other than that, it doesn't look bad.

BOY:
The ridge of the nose still protrudes too high above the eyes. Since the guy doesn't have sunglasses you will want to sink his eyes into his head a little and create a brow. His knees also need a little work so they look like knees. Better than the girl because the full outfit is able to hide things that would look like imperfections on bare skin.

O.k just a few things I thought......

Her facial expression is a bit weird and I reckon a different hair colour may look better. Her shorts would look better in lime green.

But I do love the outfit!

Defiantly would make a very cool character!

girl: neato, but bright yellow clothes are scary
boy: cape's a little short but otherwise it's cool (y)

Yes, they would if you fix them up a little bit.

They're certainly better than I could do - but then, I'm not doing a design course, either. I think, perhaps, if each character had a less "polished" and shiny appearance they'd fit into a game quite well, although it depends on what game genre, etc., also. They're nice looking, but if you tweaked them a little bit as suggested they may look better (or worse, of course...).

Anyway, I'll chuck this across to fanart; there you'll likely get better responses and more substantial comments to do with what can be improved, etc.

They are quite good. They need a little tweaking, as Scott has already pointed out. Better then what I could do though.

They don't look 'cool' enough. They look far too colourful. As realistically drawn people it doesn't really work. It's like they want to be cartoony but aren't. This would make it difficult to put them into a game imho. You either have them more cartoony and put them in a happy-fun Nintendo style game or you make them darker and more gritty for a more mature game.

Such are the limitations of using humans in games imho.
