My turn I suppose...
This will be the basics. Don't expect advanced strategy for a bit, sorry. Just explanations of the cards, etc. It will mainly just be about the early stages of playing the game.
Dark Templar Z will, if he wants, be my aide for rulings etc.
So who's up for it?
Thanks for volunteering yourself.Making sticky...
I know all about YGO, but I don't know anything about the "chains". >_<
Also, I don't know dungeon dice / duel masters =P
yes, I go to xerocreative forums =P
I know all about the game as it's my 6th year of playing it.
As for DDM I think it's my 4th.
Chains are easy to understand.
Player 1 plays Black Hole You Chain with Imperial Decree.
Chain is just a counter.
Actually, to go a little deeper:Originally posted by YAMI YUGI™

Chains are the moment when you lose control of your turn. Yami explained it simply, but this is a bit deeper. I'll get more into it during the lessons. But a chain is simply a point when you lose control of your turn(or regain control of your turn) when you can activate cards with spellspeeds of at least 2. I'll get deeper into that later.
Ditto with The Muffin Man. It all has to do with priority, which is just extremely annoying. Basically, the player who's turn it is has priority to activate a card. The opponent can't activate a card until the opponent does something (Summons a monster, activates a magic card, ect.). After doing this the player who's turn it is gives up their priority to activate something, and it goes to the opponent, who may activate a card with a spell speed of 2 or higher (Normal trap, permenant trap, instant magic, counter trap, equipment trap). Then it returns to the player who first had the priority, who can retaliate with a spell speed 2+ card (or if the opponent activates a spell speed 3, a counter trap, the player can only chain w/ spell speed 3). This continues until a player wishes to stop the chain. From here, the last link of a chain applies first. Here's a classic chain:
Player 1 activates Cyclone AKA Mystical Space Typhoon
Player 2 chains with Imperial Order
Player 1 chains activating Cyclone from hand (can be activated from hand during any phase on your turn since it's an instant magic)
Player 2 chains with Call of the Haunted, special summons Magic Canceller.
Magic Canceller has a permenant effect, which activates directly after successfully normal/special summoned.
Player 1 cannot chain
Last link of chain applied first. Magic Canceller -> Negates Cyclones -> Imperial Order and Call of the Haunted not destroyed.
Ah, okay ... Thanks DTZ!
I think I have to re-download that YVD 8.0 to try it out someday. o_o;
(I never dueled with that thing before though)

I tried using apprentice, but I couldn't get the YGO cards out. =.=
furthermore, I don't know how to connect with someone else...
If someone can show me how, that's great.
New Game > Load Deck > Ok > Enter IP And Call Or Click Wait And Ok.
Simple as that.
That reminds me, I need to get the 309 patch of Altron.
Almost exactly the same with YVD.Originally posted by YAMI YUGI™

Load deck > Find IP/click waiting for call > Ok
but YVD is MADE for YGO. So no setting Life at 8000 every game. It comes set at 8000, and has alot of the functions Magic doesn't have. I.e Attacking a target on the field(rather than attacking and declaring who)
And what set does YVD go up to? Does it include the PP and LE sets? =]Originally posted by The Muffin Man

U guys r weird. I try to set up smthng when i was a mod, hardly anyone replied. When im gone, things start to happen.
Maybe i should stop coming at all, then the forum would really pick up?
Just like with App. if you look hard enough you can find it..Originally posted by YAMI YUGI™

Don't have to look hard for App stuff since it's always ramming in your face X) and I've never seen a YVD patch that has the amout of cards that App does.Originally posted by The Muffin Man

You mean to say your friend makes the patches and sends them to you for Apprentice, right? Just do a search for YVD patches. Besides, most YVD players go to the Xerocreative IRC chat to duel, and its' English only, because people there can accept that they're not japanese.Originally posted by YAMI YUGI™

Been playing Japanese for 5 years, not gonna switch to the crapass English game now.
Agreed, specially since English sucks. I love the new banned list, best thing to happen to the game since it came out. Japanese has more cards, better rulings, cooler pics and names, better and more original duelists, ect. ect.Originally posted by YAMI YUGI™

Who actually duels on Xerocreative anyway? XC is all n00bs, they're as bad as Pojo. I had a deck with freaking equipment magic cards and I lost about 10 out of 100 duels on there, to people who ran their cheap little unoriginal Yata decks.
Lolz you are making ppl there seems like fools... Frankly speaking as a Japanese player especially since the new ban list came up. Is it me or everybody in my league had dropped Chaos for some Jowgen or Zombie deck?
There are better players on the official IRC server. Still, I've only lost like 10 duels out of 30 because I was testing a new deck. But the official servers have alot better players. At least now anyhow.Originally posted by DarkTemplarZ

I do like the banned list, I can't wait untill September when the list changes
I use a Zombie deck since I got bored with Chaos =\
Can you explan to me how a Spell Counter works? Are Spell and Magic cards the same? (Because they have the same Kanji) Is it leggal to have over 40 cards in your deck?

40 Cards = The Deck MinimumOriginally posted by Beach Boy

Can't be anything below 40. There is no limit to how many cards you can have in a deck.
Magic & Spell
Magic cards and Spell cards are the EXACT same thing. Upperdeck had to change the name from Magic to Spell due to some lawsuit with Wizards and Magic.
Also, a Spell Counter is only added when a card SPECIFICALLY tells you to do so due to another effect on the field(I.e when a Magic card is played/activated)
So what you're saying, if I had a Skilled White Magician face up on the field, and my oppnent plays a spell card, my SWM builds up a Spell Counter and wait till I have three and use them to summon a Buster Balder during my Main Phase? IS that a Spell Counter works?
By the way, can you explain the effects of 'Goblin of Greed' to me?

Ever played Pokemon TCG? Where you add damage counters?
A Magic counter is just like that. You have a Skilled White Mage in play and your oponant plays a magic card, you add a magic counter to your Skilled white Mage, when it builds up 3 counters you remove all 3 and special summon a Buster Blader.
I don't know much about the Yugioh TCG. Me and my friends sometimes go in the Library at Lunch times and watch the cool people play Yugioh and we try to fit in by picking up their cards and we are like "These are so cool!" and they are like "DON'T TOUCH THAT!!!".
We bought some cards to try and fit in with the cool people since we are social outcasts, and we played but failed miserably. Guess we can't or never will be cool.
This will give me pointers on now to beat those cool people so we can fit in.
No offence, but anybody who likes Pokemon or has liked pokemon has the right to call somebody else a nerd or judge them by what they like. There are alot of people in my school who pick on the yu-gi-oh and pokemon players because they think they are cool and makes them look big. I am one of the only players they don't, why? Because most of them "cool" kids would get thier ass kicked by me for doing so, if there is one thing I can't stand is people who make fun of other people for doing something they like, but it's funny how they won't pick on a person 6'1" nearly 200lbs if they like it....hmmm interesting.

When are you guys starting the YGO lessons?
Playing cards considered cool? Here ppl in your peers would consider you childish thats all~ Anywayz which part of Australlia you lived in, Shazza? I suspose you can easy ask CCC to help you out with your deck if you do lived close to his area. (He lives in Australlia too for your info)Originally Posted by shazza

I have some questions about the new Invasion of Chaos booster. As you know there are cards that you can only special sommun by removing somemany monster with that attribute in your graveyard from play. But I want to know
a) Since it's a special summon do you need to sacrifice for a lvl5 or higher monster?
b) Can you special summon one of those monsters after you normal summoned or set another one?
c) Howmany special summons with these cards are you allowed to do
and also how do you recognize spell counters? are they normal spell cards and how do you play them? I'm just so confused about this![]()
No, you don't sac for anything above lvl 4 if it's a Special Summon.
Yes, you can special summon it even if you've used your normal set or summon.
Also, you can play as many Special Summoned monsters as you can legally special summon(I.e if you have 3 Necrophias and 9 fiends, you can summon all 3 at once...well, one after another.)
Also, Spell Counters are ONLY placed when a card SPECIFICALLY says so. Also, they can be anything. A tack, a penny, a small bug with its' legs torn off, whatever.
hm...I already know how to play yugioh.
I just wanna post my deck, see what y'all think.
here goes.
I call this my "Darkness Lords" deck
it runs
18 monsters
16 magics
6 traps that's a total of 40 cards.
yeah so tell me what you think.
3 - Archfiend Soldier
1 - Dark Necrofear
1 - Dark Ruler Hades
3 - Giant Germ
1 - Manju of the 10,000 Hands
1 - Relinquished
1 - Sangan
1 - Sinister Serpent
1 - Slate Warrior
1 - Tribe-Infecting Virus
1 - Vampire Lord
2 - Wall of Illusion
1 - Witch of the Black Forest
1 - Black Illusion Ritual
1 - Change of Heart
1 - Dark Hole
1 - Graceful Charity
1 - Harpie's Feather Duster
1 - Heavy Storm
1 - Monster Reborn
3 - Mystical Space Typhoon
2 - Nobleman of Crossout
1 - Pot of Greed
1 - Premature Burial
1 - Raigeki
1 - Tribute to the Doomed
1 - Call of the Haunted
1 - Dark Mirror Force
1 - Imperial Order
1 - Magic Cylinder
1 - Mirror Force
1 - Ring of Destruction
the basic strategy I play is to eliminate your field when you try and defend
or to take control of your monsters when you try and attack.
oh, and I also fool you into complacentcy by letting you kill a lot of my
weenie creatures 'cuz it powers up my big guns.

Giant Germ is a nice scapegoat to go down, as you can get 3 Fiends in your grave as well as do 3000 Damage. So far it's a decent deck, just decide what you wanna do - Necrophia/Ha-Des or Relinquished.Originally Posted by VanirElf

So... is there any way you can play the OCG online? English cards are just way too limiting... and I love the ban list!!! XD
Apprentice is what everybody uses. Or atleast everybody that I know.
