They probably sucked because they're the school's Macs. Most schools have old crappy Macs.

What kind of software? You have your photo editing program, IM program, email client, internet browser, etc. I don't know what more you need besides games.

What do you think is so much better about Windows than a Mac? The only thing I see is the programs, but that's only because Windows is more popular. Like Aipom said, just because it's popular doesn't necessarily make it better.
