ASB Reffing Tower

As I ref it, burn is mainly a physical weakness. Attacks that target burned skin (and have a physical form) deal extra damage, and of course, inflict pain. The Pokemon is also enraged easier, due to the constant pang of burns fueling anger.


And my other question: any chance of my getting promoted to the next rank before my 4th reffing gets done, so I can cash in my evo/catch at 4 battles rather than 5 ^_^? I hope you think I'm reffing actively enough to be a Rookie ._.

IMO, burn does 1-5%. The more you move, the more damage it takes. Just like my definition of poison... the more you move, the more it deadly it gets.

ROUND 2 BEGIN!

Atari starts heading for it's opponet but he is nowhere to be seen. Atari feels shakes in the ground and realizes it's Deimos Underground. Atari jumps out of the way but Deimos gets it's left leg. Because of the hit, Atari crashes in the feild getting more cuts.

Deimos uses that time to attack with the purple globs of spit made of toxic making Atari yell out in pain. Atari ignores it's cuts and hammers his belly making a loud beating noise. Deimos starts to whirl around in circles. hiding himelf in dust. Atari looks but Deimos is covered in dust.

Atari tried to get past the dust, but it keeps on getting hit by the rocky debris. With it's fists clenched, Atari tries to see the shadow of Deimos and then it shoots a white beam from it's mouth, hitting Deimos in the chest. Atari is hit by a rocky debris.

Post-Round

Pokèmon:As the round ends, Atari looks at Deimos with firey passion in it's eyes, and Deimos is rubbing it's chest hoping for it to get better.

Arena: rocky debris around the arena. The rocks on the ground are chipped by the harsh sand, adding more rocky bits to the overwhelming sandstorm. The Sandstorm should lose its momentum in roughly 3 turns.

I highly suggest that you take a look at others' works and see how it's done. I also prefer you to use Word or another type of word document program just to shape up your spelling and grammar a bit. Plus the fact that you reffed Dig, Toxic and Belly Drum in the wrong order and disregarded Refresh didn't help much either

There should be another mock reffing sometime this month so there's always time to improve and try again

Round 5
Duke becoming very desprate with the poision slowly taking his health away, uses the big ocean space to create a giant Whirlpool, the cold waters spinning around. Violet, who is very tired herself, tries pointlessly to conjure up enough Psychic energy to aim at Duke, but the little attack she manages to get off is bounced away by the giant Whirlpool as Violet is spinned around in the water.


Duke starts moving around very quick as he builds up some momentum, poison glue froms around the mouth of Duke, as he plans to poision violet like she did to him. Seeing this, Violet tries to but up a protective barrier,but again does not have the energy to set it up as the poision hits Violet and infects her.

Violet's anger flares up and in the cold water she sends several ice crystals right at Duke who yells in pain, not only from the attacks, but from the poision that continues to damage him.

Violet, the female Blastoise 55% Health poisoned(1% next round), still tired

Duke starts the battle by creating a whirlpool... and sending it right on Violet!
The Blastoise, optimist, closes her eyes and use her weak psychic powers. She manages to reach Duke's mind, but her psychic powers aren't well developed; and the Kingdra doesn't lose his concentration. But in a second, he stopped thinking about his strategy; and lost control of the Whirlpool, who hits... Brian, who was swimming because the icebergs were too cold for him to stand on them. Seeing her trainer trapped, Violet hesitates; the Kingdra takes advantage of it, using energy to raise his speed and rushing towards Violet, a powerful poison gathered on his horns.
The Blastoise suddenly remembers the next move she had to use and tries to create a protecting wall around her. But she lacks energy; and the tired Blastoise can't perform her move. At this moment, Duke's poisoned horns touch her shell. The poison shouldn't have penetrated her skin; but she touches it with her hand accidentally, still looking at Brian, and the poison - weakened by her shell - filtered into her thick skin.
Violet opens her mouth, gathering cold particles of ice. Duke stares at her, puzzled - he doesn't know what is this strange move. The Blastoise projects the cold wind with ice shards in Duke's direction, who is still calculating the approximate damage he will take if he doesn't dodge in the instant. He is too tired to move. Many, many little crystalline particles hit the dragon's scales; the cold wind freezes it for a second. Not able to move and protect himself, tired and his horns half-frozen, Duke closes his eyes and prays for the wind to stop blowing now. Fortunately, his wish comes true ; and the wind calms down. But the water is still freezing, the air is cold and humid, and the Kingdra can't feel his horns anymore.

Duke swims close to Violet and then creates a whirlpool heading for Violet. Violet reacts by using confusion, but she is too tired to completly hit Duke, but Duke loses control, and the water returns to the way it was before. Duke uses agility, getting to a striking distance to Violet, and opens his mouth that has a purple glob. Violet forms an impentrable sheild, but it has been used before and her tired-ness makes it weak, causing Duke's attack to go through, harming Violet. Violet, struggling, starts to open her mouth, to collect ice. Duke stares at her, not knowing whats going on. When the ice makes it's shape, Duke knows what's going to happen, and tries to escape. Violet shoots ice particles from her mouth, hitting Duke. Duke can hardly move.

Duke looked Violet in the eye, although it was quite difficult seeing as Violet's eyes were practically shut because of her current fatigue. Duke then went on to start a Whirlpool - the water started circling round and around slowly at first, but proceeding to move very quickly and aggressively. Violet couldn't resist the force of the vortex and got sucked in, and was spun round violently in the water before being flung out as Duke lost control of the attack - He was too tired to properly control an attack like that, and the poison was slowly sucking away his strength. Violet landed into the water with a big splash because of his loss of control, and bobbed up after a matter of seconds.

Violet was really frustrated at being treated so roughly by her opponent - if he couldn't even control it then what was the point of performing it in the first place? Her fury and bewilderment led to a rush of adrenaline surging through her body, and she released a rippling wave of psychic energy through the air at her enemy. Duke was taken aback by her sudden burst of anger, and flinched as the Confusion wreaked havoc on his mind. He lost all sense of balance and fell on his side in the water, seeing funny little sausages with wings flying in the air... How weird. Violet laughed at him, before realising that she was still rather tired and didn't really need to use her next attack yet. So she floated rather sheepishly in the water until Duke was ready to unleash his next attack.

It was a matter of minutes before the Kingdra got his sense of orientation back, and as he righted himself from his rather silly-looking situation, he got ready to perform his next attack. Violet looked at him rather anxiously, and then he started to dart really very quickly in the water. The frightened Blastoise set up a protective barrier as she was afraid of being caught unawares by a surprise attack; unfortunately Duke took advantage of her and waited until the last possible moment before unleashing his Toxic on her. She wasn't affected by it, but she was very tired after using Protect for longer than she had needed to.

Duke snickered right in her face, but then bent over double as the poison continued to seep through his body and steal his health away from him. He was feeling very beaten down after losing quite a bit of energy from his last move as well as having the poison damage him, and Violet seemed aware of this. She was feeling bloody exhausted too, but she built up the strength the unleash a barrage of icy shards at her opponent. He was knocked back quite a distance and his body felt like it was being numbed out, but Violet couldn't hold up the attack for very long and stopped it before she got overly tired from it. Both of the pokemon sat in the water, breathing heavily from their hard work.

By the way, I just made up the poison damage for the next round. Is that okay? Normally I would decide how much the poison damaged a pokemon each round, but since I only knew how much it would take away in this round, I made it up... I would have a planned out way of going about that normally, though. And I would normally have a percentage for energy too but since there wasn't a fixed amount in the mock battle that you posted, I didn't ref this battle with them as I didn't want to estimate the percentages.

LightNinetales: Rookie ref. You're changing between the past and present tense, making the battle very confusing. And Brian shouldn't even be in the water since it's colder than standing on the iceberg. And why would Duke forget his strategy for a brief moment? Doesn't make sense, but you've been a decent ref in the past so I'm letting it slide

Rocketboy: Sorry, I can't approve you. Your sentence structure needs work, as with your grammar. There's hardly any description and it doesn't even mention Violet's poisoning at the post-round status statistics. I know you've been looking at other battles but try writing some out, making them more descriptive

Drake vs. Brian
Round 4: Duke (Male Kingdra) vs. Violet (Female Blastoise)

Arena: Middle of the ocean with no land in sight. Ice bergs float about and the water is freezing cold.

Current Pokemon Status:
Duke: 43% Poisoned (18% this round), tired

Violet: 65% Very tired (protect used once before)

Brian: Confusion <> Protect <> Blizzard



Amid a bitter-cold ocean, Drake and Violet continued their battle. Ice bergs floated lazily, while the air had a relentless bite to it as it swept eastwards.

Drake gave a toot and swam around in a vast, wide circle. At first, only a mild current was generated, but with time a stronger, more ruthless current formed in the water, which in turn began to pull smaller ice bergs towards its epicenter. Violet splashed as she was slowly dragged towards the whirlpool. She thrashed around, which in turn only increased her fatigue. The large tortoise panted as Duke watched from the outside of the whirlpool. A fierce malice sparked into his eyes.

Violet soon succumbed to the awesome power as she was dragged underwater. Screwing her forehead in frustration and desperation, she concentrated as hard as she could. She launched her confusion attack through the water, which struck Duke's lower half, the half submerged in water.

Duke began to lose his balance, and the poison sweeping through his system started to damage his concentration. The whirlpool weakened, and as Violet was freed from the vicious grasp of the water current, she swam upwards towards her foe.

Giving a sharp toot again, Duke sped around the freezing ocean. He became a mere cobalt blur as he dashed behind icebergs and confused Violet. Violet began to tred the water as she attempted to decipher her opponent's tactics. Duke sped on, darting to the left and cutting paths through the water. Apprehensive, Violet played the safe guard and summoned a shield to surround her whole body. It used up a lot of her energy again, but she was safe. Duke spat a large glob of toxic goo into the air. It arched down towards Violet, who tried her best to maintain the shield as the glob got ever closer. Alas, as it neared, Violet let a long groan as her shield slowly disappeared into the atmosphere. The poison slapped her across the head and was absorbed into her body. Violet cried out in pain as Duke sped around to face her properly.

The large tortoise looked very weak. She gave an almighty groan and sent a large, sparkling wind of ice crystals shooting through the air. Big, chunky gems of ice swept down towards Duke. He watched with fear as they chipped into his body, slamming into him, shattering upon contact and numbing him all over. Tooting to his trainer, Duke had to endure the pains of the imperial attack as they dealt a suffering blow to his system.

Duke: 11%, Poisoned (20% this round), tired, covered in cuts

Violet: 58%, extremely tired, badly poisoned (4% next round)
