    Because Beedrill's Mega Drain sucks and a turn spent using Swords Dance is a turn spent getting attacked and not attacking back. Beedrill doesn't have the defenses to survive those.

    So does Vileplume... Beedrill's underused not because it's underrated; it's just not strong enough. It doesn't have crazily strong stats in any area - its Attack is all right, but not top tier. It also has weaknesses to lots of common types, so yeah. Beedrill isn't good.

    All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
    The old that is strong does not wither,
    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
    The crownless again shall be king.

    Not to mention Beedrill has NO saving graces. At least Butterfree can Double Powder. Weak, true, but alot more useable than Beedrill. Both are essentially crippled by any strong attacks of most any type, but Beedrills got good ol' Mister Psychic to look out for. Butterfree can put to sleep and Mega Drain a Rhydon if it absolutely must(i.e last Pokemon). Beedrill, however, will most likely get eaten alive by an Alakazam. I say 'most likely' because there's a slim chance Psychic will miss and Beedrill will have 3 Swords Dances, maxed out attack DVs, and critical hit with Twineedle.

    Hmhm...well there's always my favorite, Tentacruel, with that monster special of his. Shame he's part poison, although it's a cool type. I've always fancied the idea of using Kadabra, just for fun .

    Hitmonlee won't work. Abra moves first against him and beats him in one turn. His stats are just a smidgen below Tentacool's, if Special's counted double. He's Fighting in a world of Psychics, his Special and HP are terrible, he has no chance. :p

    Shoulda said this earlier but:

    Look at it this way. Hyper Beams an amazing in-game attack because it can wipe out almost anything if the user is powerful enough(i.e Snorlax, Tauros, Charizard, anything with an attack power that hits 230 or higher at 100) but in the actual battling circles, anything BUT Tauros with Hyper beam is either stupid, or a last resort.

    yeah, fighting got a back rap in rby. which is why the two new types that were created in gsc, dark and steel, were both made weak to fighting, and cross chop was added, so that fighting types would be more prominent.

    nintendo realized that psychics were just a little too powerful, so they tried to balance things out a bit more (except nintendo just HAD to make heracross part fighting ).

    I daresay Venusaur is not that bad.

    I always enjoyed using Leech Seed, Mega Drain, Body Slam and Growth...

    It came in handy in the Elite 4... I really don't care if it's weak against Psychic-type Pokemon, because not every Pokemon is psychic. That seemed to be an issue with RBY, the overused psychic-types with Lapras sometimes instead of Starmie.

    And of course a Ninetales or Arcanine here and there. Then that damn Chansey.
