Magic the Gathering Help Thread

Back in November, Roarkiller tried to get some TCG classes started. I volunteered for Magic, but November was just a horrible month for me. I never got the project off the ground.

After midterms (this week) I will run into a schedule with a bit more free time. I'll be more than happy to teach whatever you want to know about Magic. I just need interested people.

So let me know. I need more people to play on Apprentice.

I kinda already posted a Pokemon lesson, but no one was interested. I think I'll start a new topic for that and make it a sticky to see if anyone wants to relearn Pokemon. Maybe this time someone will reply to it.

Anyway, im interested in knowing how the game is played itself and the rules and stuff, since i only had a brief stint of the game and didnt really know the game well. So like yeah, headcount++.

Apprentice was probably out before YGO even existed.

It was. Apprentice was out even when the Pokemon TCG was up to Gym Challenge & Neo Genesis, which was before YGO's time.

no more mtg decks to fix?!?!?

The problems:

A) The forum is now 95% Yu-Gi-Oh, which I treat like the plague.

B) The majority of TPMers are not tournament players, so I go elsewhere should I need a deck rated.

C) There is no C.

I may additonal lessons in the future, but in general the interest is low.

I learned how to play Magic, because that was all everyone at the Card Shop I hang out at plays on a regular basis (only 2-3 YGO Players, and they're rare shows)

I learned how to play with a burn deck (NASTY Burn Deck... I liked it ^^), the next day Oz gave one of the shop keeps $3 to pool into my deck, which is also a burn deck. My win/loss is impressive with this Burn Deck... and it is BURN baby!

Three Lava Axes and a Lava Burst, (LA my Fave card in me deck)

I also entered a booster Draft yesturday, Fifth Dawn release, for the sher purpose of getting cards if nothing else (thwacked down in all of my matches, Mana Locked in two straight duels. Twas 2/3 wins)

I did manage to pull three foils, that I donated/traded to the shop so I could get some more cards for my deck, which is still very red. Only now it has Three dragons, four Spark Elementals, and some artifacts that i just like.

I know how to play magic, what kinds of decks do you guys use?

my two favorite ones are my

green/white legendary enchantress deck

lol, Yavimaya rules and it's really only legendary 'cuz I have 9
legend type creatures in there. and 1 legendary land.
it's pro red & pro black

once I have
Absolute Law and Absolute Grace out, i've pretty much won.

as for my 2nd deck it's a rainbow deck.
it mostly runs artifact creatures from mirrodin.
2 of each of the mana producing myr.

and I run all 5 legendary winds.
and several creature token makers.
most everything is pretty high cost, but the deck is surprisingly fast.

oh and I play yugioh too..but I miss playing the pokemon tcg...my
Turbo Blastoise deck rocked.

I know how to play a little as my mate has some MTG cards. But I don't really know all of the rules. But the main thing is I respect you for starting these lessons FMWAM. Just hope you finish them and then it's all good.

armadillo cloak and counterspell are the shit. well later i might post my phantom deck that only lost once during its rotation, and that one was a 2v1, me being the "1"

ok, so most of it has rotated out, and i lack many cards, so obviously it's not gonna be tip-top shape but it'll be decent.

Been almost too long since i played this. Like say, 8 yrs?

Nice job on card anatomy, hopefully rules and gameplay comes next, since we need to actually know that to play.

Might wanna explain Dual Strike and First Strike a bit more. Those are some of the most confusing rulings out there(as to what is destroyed when, what happens next, etc.)

Ive played Magic for a little while now
I run a newbie burn deck, although Fireball is a nice card.
I burn them down, but if it's onw of those
counterspells or can't be harmed by red, I am beat.
