Edit: Ack! I had this huge reply, but now people moved while I was typing it... Oh well... hold on, I'm editing...

"Oh crap, I'm late!" Alex thought, hastily but carefully arranging the last of the napkins on the snack table. Many guests had already arrived, and Alex hadn't welcomed them in yet. He straightened his tie, and strode over to the "DDR room."

James and the others were preparing to play right when Alex was approaching.
"Ah, Alex!" called James, "Bring us some drinks, will you? I'll take a scotch... no, wait. This is a very special occasion; bring me the vintage Glenfiddich whiskey, will you?"
"Yes, sir," Alex replied with a little bow. He turned slightly to face the others. "And will our guests be taking any?"
"I'll take another water," said a tall, brown haired teenager. He looked older than Alex, but not by much. Probably just a year or two.
"A water would be fine," replied Sarah. She was the co-hostess of the party; Alex was instructed to follow her orders as well.
"I'll take a water, too" answered a rather pretty girl in a green dress. "I'm not old enough to drink, and I don't want to accidently spill something on this dress. Besides, we're playing DDR!"
"Of course," Alex said, taking a second small bow. He walked away briskly, and returned almost immediately with the drinks. As he was returning, however, he spotted another guest sitting alone, so--after handing the guests their drinks--Alex made his way over to the loner.
"Welcome, sir," Alex started, getting the guest's attention, "my name is Alex. I'd be most pleased if I could fetch you a drink, or perhaps a small snack while you're, uh... waiting?" Alex stammered, not sure why the guest was sitting all alone with the others not too far off.
