    Default Flygon Movesets?

I would like suggestions on movesets and Ev's for the Flygon I am planning to raise from this Trapinch

    Trapinch Lv20, Mild Nature.

    HP: 50
    AT: 50
    DF: 23
    SA: 27
    SD: 24
    SP: 15
Current Ev's: Three for Special Attack, One for Speed, and Zero for all other stats.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Flygon@Choice Band
    Fire Blast
    Rock Slide
    Earthquake
    Quick Attack
    EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Whatever

A Choice Band Physical Sweeper and has Fire Blast in there to do some damage to Skarm/Forry.

    Default Flygon Movesets?

    Here's one I tried recently. It's alright.

    FLYGON @ Leftovers
    Levitate

    - Earthquake
    - Rock Slide
    - Substitute/Aerial Ace/Return
    - Fire Blast

EV wise I'd probably do the 252 speed and 252 attack. Then the rest in HP. Personally because of fire blast you should take a neutral nature into consideration. Otherwise Fire Blast is pointless and doesn't even do much as a super effective move. It's not the best set probably but I've never seen choice band doing to much good because if the opponent has a well formed team he always gets his next pokemon to be one to resist your attack and you will have to switch giving the opponent a free attack or two.

    Default Flygon Movesets?

Okay, so far no one has actually addressed the question. For this particular Flygon what are some move-sets and effort lists?

My analysis of its IVs from the data given is:

    HP 10-14
    A 25-29
    D 15-19
    SA 10-14
    SD 5-9
    SP 30-31

That translates into L100 max values (before effort) as:

    HP 280-284
    A 230-234
    D 162-165
    SA 192-196
    SD 170-174
    SP 235-236

252 Effort on Attack makes it 293-297.
252 Effort on Special Attack makes it 261-266.
252 Effort on Speed makes it 298-299

It has a Mild Nature, which means its Special Attack potential is nearly as good as its Attack. Flygon has a good range of SA moves, but its only standout physical one is Earthquake, possibly Rock Slide if you have access to it.

    I'd suggest:
    252 SA 252 Speed 6 Attack
    Crunch
    Flamethrower/Fire Blast
    Dragon Claw/Dragonbreath/Sand Attack/Double Team/Protect/Sandstorm
    Earthquake/Sand Tomb/

Unfortunately Flygon does not learn EQ naturally - you have to breed it on or use a TM. But it's such a no-brain move for it that it is pretty much compulsory, even in a SA set. But if you are short on EQ TMs, a sand-trapper set (Sand Tomb and Sandstorm) goes nicely with any Burns inflicted by its fire attack. However, since this particular Flygon has weak defenses but superior speed, you are probably best to stick to a simple special sweeper set.

One other set worth considering is a Sunny Day one, since Flygon can learn both fire attacks and Solarbeam:

    Sunny Day
    Solarbeam
    Flamethrower/Fireblast
    Crunch/Dragon Claw/Earthquake

Ah, Thank you all very much. I was trying to calculate my Trapinch's Iv's. So it has a near-max speed Iv. I didn't expect that. And I did originally plan on having EQ in Flygon's moveset. I think I will deffinatly put the bulk of Ev's into Special Attack, and Speed. I'd never even considered a Sunny Day set.

Suppose I didn't really answer it but more on subject, why protect? Especially on a special sweeper.

I just want to say Sunnybeamer Flygon doesn't work very well in competitive battling. This is based around Flyon's weaknesses and attack type combination working against other Pokemon. You don't see any of the Dragon Pokemon using a STAB Dragon Claw even if they have good Special Attack. The exception being Calm Minding Lati@s because that can own everything except Steel Pokemon but Calm Mind a few more times and Dragon Claw will start doing more damage.

Why Protect? Well, I was mostly thinking in terms of:

    Flamethrower
    Sand Tomb
    Sandstorm
    Protect

    (The reasoning should be obvious)

But DT/Protect are fairly standard fillers. Protect is also a handy move in many 2v2 tactics.

    @Andy:

I'd tend to disagree. Flygon doesn't have access to as many good special attack types as most other dragons (i.e. no Ice, Electric or Water). Dark and Fire are clearly the best choices, but I'd stand by Dragonclaw as a third attack type. With STAB it will do significantly more damage vs the Dragon/Flying Crowd than any other attack a SA Flygon can get, and more damage against neutral targets. Having said that, unless you're doing a Choice Band one, four attack types is not normally a good idea anyway - use that slot for a utility move like Double Team, Protect or Sand Attack.

I guess the two Grass moves it learns should be considered, though. Giga Drain is one I just now realised it can have, which might be worth considering just from the HP recovery point of view...

I use protect myself but I always though Flygon could have better filler than that as I'm guessing here but Earthquake is the most commonly used hit all move that is actually a threat. Flygon is resistant to that. Despite that only being one type it definetely lowens the need for detect although it should be put in depending upon the other tactics of your team. Sometimes there is no need for it sometimes there is.
