Default Paradox vs MTC (Ref: Chris W.)

Now that I have an ASB team, I'd like to test them out. The rules are simple:

    - This will be a one-on-one battle, with three to each side.

    - You'll send out first, I'll make the first attack orders.

    - The DQ time will be one week.

    - Banned moves: Rest and Substitute.

    - The arena will be... the Quiet Field.

Quiet Field: A few years ago, this used to be a well-used battleground for trainers. But now, its popularity having faded, the field has subsided into obscurity. The grass is worn away from many spots, leaving bare dirt still hard-packed from trampling, and weeds grow along the river and trail that marked the field's north and south edges. The east and west edges are defined by parallel rows of tree stumps, where the spectators used to sit. A lone street light hangs over the field's center, still functional but quite old. Off in the distance, you can see a Pokemon center, which itself has fallen on hard times.
    Any takers?

And I choose my Magnemite! Go, Qwerty! *He throws his Pokeball in the air for a moment before tossing it towards the streetlight.*

Qwerty, open with Lock-On, and once you've got a lock, try to hit it with a Thunder Wave. If the Thunder Wave connects, fire off a Spark; if it doesn't work, use Swift. And keep your distance!

    Before the Battle...

~In the distance lies the ruins of a handsome Pokémon arena, now decayed from its former glory. The ground, uprooted from what fauna and plantlife that existed, is hard packed from constant movement over the years. A river lazily floats to the side, perhaps used as a medium for Water Pokémon, now devoid of any life, again due to constant overuse. Several tree stumps surround the field, used as makeshift benches for the various spectators in the past. A Pokémon Center over at the far end of the arena, as well as a streetlight that hangs above the arena are still suprisingly functional, yet its obvious what time has done to the infastructure in the area. Despite what time has done, the arena still remains steadfast against the tests of time.

Now, today, two trainers, Master of Paradox and MTC, set up their Pokémon and begin to battle in this arena.~

    ROUND 1!

Arena: Quiet Field, still standing strong.
Track: L'arc En Ciel - Blurry Eyes

    Orders!

Qwerty: Lock-on ~ Thunder Wave ~ Spark (Swift)
Gyarados: Flamethrower ~ Dive ~ Stay underwater

    LET'S START!

~Welcome back, ladies and gents, as we return you once again to our exciting TPMASBL! I know we've been away for roughly a month, but lets not have that deter our great performance! We have MTC, a regular here with a mean Gyarados, and Master of Paradox, a new trainer who seems to assert himself well, with a formidable Magnemite called Qwerty.

Both pocket monsters stare each other down as their orders are being called out. Qwerty, not fettered in the slightest from its demonic opponent, begins by using its internal computers and mechanisms to track the movements of Gyarados, ensuring a direct hit for its next incoming attack. Qwerty was only briefly satisfied when a violent stream of flames slammed the Electric/Steel hybrid from across the field by the Water/Flying hybrid, dealing strong damage due to the type weakness.

While Qwerty was shaking off the attack, Gyarados took this oppritunity to go underwater as some kind of defense from whatever else his gadety adversary may try next. However, Qwerty, already focused on Gyarados' movements and proximity, knew where exactly to strike. It shot two powerful blasts - one from each magnet attenae - into the lake, and wrapped itself around Gyarados' monster. Thanks to the underwater presence, the electrical prison significantly increased in magnitude, shocking the great water beast in a violent cage. The torturous attack was finally finished, but not before Gyarados suffered mass paralysis.

Qwerty ended its round by captializing with a narrow stream of electricty towards the lake again. Since the accuracy bonus from Lock-On were now long gone, the floating gadgetoid sent its attack on the surface of the lake rather than directly into the heart of the Gyarados. Despite this, the entire lakewater conducted the electricity, dealing strong damage, causing the beast to roar in agony even further. Things aren't looking good for MTC as his Pokémon already took a beating right from the outset. =\~

    Orders!

Gyarados: Flamethrower ~ Rain Dance ~ Surf

    LET'S START!

~Wahahahaha!!! Look at how fast we are progressing into this matchup! XD Let's begin Round 2!

This quiet arena is soon beginnning to become quite noisy with the next set of volleys coming right on in. MTC's Gyarados, fearing the worst, emerges from the undersea depths, its movements much hampered by the worsened status. As the sea beast struggles to make it out of the river, he is soon greeted by several razor-tipped stars from Paradox's Qwerty the Magnemite hoping to further capitalize on his injuries. Once Gyarados has finally emerged fully from the water, he finally answered with another powerful stream of flames, scorching the gadgetoid for more strong damage.

Qwerty quickly sprung back, still raring to go despite being struck with two type-effective attacks. It began to activate its interal computers once more to lock-on to its draconic opponent. After a good ten seconds, the Magnemite ensured a direct target for its next attack, knowing that the enormous aquatic beast will take the full blow of the next attack. Gyarados, instead of retailaiting with another direct attack, prays for rain, as the skies now become dark and angry, raining down upon the archaic battlefield with its fury. This however also meant that everyone and everything in the arena vincity was getting wet as well. Thankfully, the trainers and myself brought ourselves nifty TPMASBL Umbrellas (TM) courtesy of the TPMASBL.

As the rain beats down upon the arena, Qwerty ends its turn by firing yet another narrow bolt of electricity at Gyarados. With Gyarados' significant stiffness from the paralysis as well as the set proximity ensured from the Lock-On move, the sea beast felt helpless as a moderate shock of lighting became severe due to the type weakness. The draconic beast roared in greater pain in before, as the electric blast did heavy damage. Gyarados, albeit struggling, managed to sucessfully pull off its last attack for the round, as a torrential tidal wave summoned from the river emerged and swallowed the gadgetoid, dealing brutal damage.

Y'know, where did Bob* go? I know he was an annoyance, but at least he made the reffings entertaining, at least for me anyway.~

-I had to apply damage caps (40% max) to Qwerty since it took so much damage. Flamethrower (10% + 5% for type bonus = 15%) and Surf (20% + 5% for STAB + 5% for Rain Dance = 30%) did a total of 45%, which is way too much to lose in a single round.
-Everyone is using highly powerful moves that burn up fatigue. Lock-On takes up 10% and Surf takes up 15%. Just clearing that up for everyone. :3

~Qwerty the Magnemite, from being burnt to now totally drenched after the devastating Surf attack taken last round, takes the initiaitive this round coming up. As its opponent, Gyarados, struggles to execute his next order, Qwerty continues to capitalize by releasing ear-splitting supersonic waves at him, dealing medium damage as it struck the hull of the beast. Gyarados was thrown back somewhat, as he reeled from the pain. The Magnemite assidiously continued its assult by firing another narrow stream of electricity, piling on more heavy damage to the sea beast, causing it roar in agony once again. Once the attack was said and done, Gyarados' intimidating stature crumbled somewhat, as it was now heaving heavily after the sucessive electric attacks.

Despite this bleak outlook, Gyarados still remained strong, showing no signs of giving in the slightest. He then proceded to muster up his strength to conjure another tidal wave of destruction at his foe. And he did. Another immense tidal wave rose from the outling riverbank and swallowed the Magnemite, crashing for significant damage as it was drowned with the enormous water mass. Wanting to continue the pressure, Gyarados begins to charge up a vicious blast of water from its interior. Unfortunately, the paralysis was just too much, as he froze helplessly in stasis, as Qwerty sent a stream of 7-8 energy stars, knocking down Gyarados' health even further.

This round ends when the mighty Gyarados retreats into the deep river once more, albeit still stiff as ever. Meanwhile, Qwerty is soaked heavily and showing signs of collapsing from the sucessive assults, its interal circuitry going haywire from the water attacks. Its not going to be long when both monsters will be finally defeated, as the downpour continues to beat the aging battleground.~

~"What? I can't believe it~! I still cannot believe its not butter!! The Half-Blood Prince is no other than-"

Whoops, sorry everyone. I'm still trying to shake off the effects of HBP in my systems. X_X Begin Round 4...

As I return to the ancient arena, the ground for some reason seems a tad little muddy and damp. When I took a closer inspection, much of the arena has been flooded up! The lamp post nearby is fizzling due to the heavy conductivity from the riverwater. The stumps themselves have been heavily soaked, while other parts of the landscape seemed to have eroded away, forming heavy gashes that would no doubt leave everlasting scars on the terrain, aging the battleground significantly. Fortunately, our combantants, Paradox and MTC are on elevated battlestands which help protect them from the effects of the battle, as well their trusty TPMASBL Umbrellas (TM)! Their Pokémon are also elevated themselves by their devices and mechanisms, Qwerty the Magnemite and Gyarados, ready to go down fighting.

Qwerty kicks things off by first desperately attempting to reactive its computers to establish optimal precision, speed, and vector for its next strike from itself to its opponent Gyarados. After a tense minute, the Magnetmite was finally sucessful, but not after it was shocked somewhat due to the electrical circuitry going haywire from the water still sloshing around it is body. Not wasting anymore time, it started to charge up a powerful yet cumbersome electrosphere. Although the precise targeting from the Lock-On before would help alleivate the accuracy problem, the attack itself would no doubt cause even more damage to the floating magnet, as Qwerty still held on to its dear might, hoping to pull off to at least get this attack off.

At the same time, Gyarados was now struggling to reemerge from the river depths, with his muscles still tense from the paralysis surging throughout its body. As it finally fought through the water's depths, breaking the surface, he was totally caught off guard as the electrosphere fired and struck its body, hitting for immense electrical damage, surging through every muscle and tendon, electrocing the Pokémon significantly, until finally stopping.

This was Qwerty final chance to end things with a bang. It fired another narrow stream of electrical energy, following up with the Zap Cannon, damaging the already vunerable sea beast, pushing it onto the verge of collapsing as he staggered somewhat, almost drooping to the river's surface. It was just enough to shock the poor Water/Flyer into full paralysis, causing the Gyarados to lose track of its next action in sequence. Likewise with the last two attacks, it caused more internal damage to the poor Magnemite, leaving it only barely enough just to stand. With enough energy and firepower, Gyarados finally released a powerful stream of water the second time around bursting from its mouth, ramming into the battered Electric/Steel pocket monster, sending it sprawing onto the thick mud. The sucessive blows were just too much, as the Qwerty the Magnemite finally shut down as the rainstorm continued to release its rage.

On a side note, I wished it rained over here in Queens, New York. I had to type this all up under scorching (94F!!!) temperatures! I feel I'm going to collapse of heatstroke... *falls on the ground* @_@~

She materializes ontop of the heavily eroded and muddied Pokémon arena, struggling to obtain a proper foothold. Over at the riverbank, Gyarados too is struggling just to stay active in this fight, as the constant electric barrages and paralysis takes its toll throughout the fight. Unlike Gyarados though, Cici is in tip-top shape and is raring to go.

And it doesn't take much from her at all. Unable to defend himself or avoid the incoming strike intime, he falls helpless as the Shuckle wrapped her thin yet firm appendages around Gyarados, and strangled out the last of his remaining life force. Now, he too has fallen in this battle.

~Meanwhile, while Gyarados was being recalled and replaced by his next pocket monster, our fine ref decided to retreat into his deep, dark bowels, basking under the soothing air from his air conditioner. Ahhhh...

Once the sea monster was finally recalled, his trainer MTC sent out his next Pokemon, a small orange petit chick with bits of yellow feathering on his head and wings, a Torchic. As it landed with a soft 'plop' on the muddy arena floor, he shrieks and squaks loudly, uncomfortable as the relentless showers continue to beat the ground. Regardless, Torchic knew that the show must go on, and obeys his trainer, albeit relunctantly.

Torchic gathers all its waste material and forms them up in its mouth cavity, ready to launch it towards his snail-like opponent, Paradox's Shuckle Cici. Noticing her head completely open and vunerable, he takes a chance and fires the toxins hoping for a direct shot. For a moment he was sucessful...

...except for the fact that Cici managed to withdraw into her shell in time as the toxins flew past her head and into the muddy ground behind her, as they were absorbed into the mud. Torchic felt even worse now, as he bowed his head in shame.

Hoping to rectify his last mistake, he decides to go for a direct assult by attacking the shell itself. Torchic charges, its movements hampered due to the unstable terrain, towards Cici and attempts to strike her with a brutal head strike on the frontal surface. The Shuckle is ready once more as she grabs the fire chick with her four tentacles - two grabbing his legs, as two others wrap around his body. The tentacles tighten their grip as they strangle the poor pocket monster, wheezing out a medium chunk of his life energy. Torchic attempted to at least get its attack in, or lest fight back in some sort, but the hold was too strong, and the fire chick felt much lighthead when Cici finally relinquished her hold.

Not wanting to end this round on a sour note, Torchic ends its phase by firing a stream of flames from its exterior and at least score some direct damage. Unfortunately for him, rain was still pouring its tears, and much of the assult was drowned out. The attack only managed to sizzle the Shuckle as she mustered enough strength in her body as she dug her tentacles deep into the mulch and triggered a powerful shockwave across the entire field. With the entire dirt field in such a soaked and muddied state, the resulting consequence formed a nasty mudslide, as the wet desposits washed over the poor fire chick, dealing severe damage from the get-go. Torchic was left sprawing all over the muck as the rain continued to beat upon the earth one more time, yet beginning to loosen its magnitude as the billowing clouds are getting smaller and lighter in the sky.

    Ahhhhh...air conditioner...so good...so relaxing...awwwww....~

~As I am basking in the power of my high-speed, wireless internet up in my lil' room, I am steadily drooping my sleep habits later and later into the night, staying up late at night to bask in my glorious treatment. How will this affect my skillz in this reffing?

With that aside, our two new combantants kick off by using vastly different indirect manuevers to improve upon their gameplans. Torchic, disenchanted by the pouring yet dying rainfall, releases a bright stream of orange-red energy into the skies, as it parted the clouds, revealing dazzling sunshine, beating down upon the now liquified arena. Torchic feels much more at ease now, and gets up from the ground with renewed vigor. Cici on the other hand, forges a protective force field around her creature, as it emit a faint teal light protruding from her monster.

Cici again throws her yellow tendrils into the deep earth, hoping to throw the Torchic off balance once more. This time, the Fire Pokemon was ready. Once the bug monster began to get a firm holding in the ground, Torchic vanished from sight at mach speeds - only to come splatting down right on Cici's face for a direct hit. The fire chick bounced back gracefully to his side of the field, much to Cici's disgust, as she floundered and lost her concentration. She stumbled for a bit as she feared this could a turn for the worse.

Trying to at least pull some damage from her foe before the end of the round, she pulls out her tendrils from the ground and thrusts them at Torchic's direction, ready to strangle him once more. He, on the other hand, decides to show off his sexy muscles just like this. A scary sight, as even I, our bold ref, had to cover his eyes fearing witness of this gruesome nonsense. How this art of wooing played out, I don't even want to ask. When I gave a small peek, though, all I saw was an image of a fire chick being strangled by a pair of two lethal looking tentacles with a look of upmost indigination on Cici's features. They must have been quite powerful too, as the Torchic fell with a plop on the muddy humus, with some areas of its body looking slightly paler than others.*

Don't feel like editing my post, so I'm making a new one.

    * = The reason why the Attract failed is not because of the Safeguard, but the fact that Pokemon outside their egg groups are unattractive to them no matter how appealing the opposite sex may be. This can be related with animals the most. Birds are going to find other birds attractive, while ignoring the attraction of other animal species such as dogs or cats. Likewise, Shuckle, hailing from the Bug egg group is not going to see a Furry like Torchic as appealing as say as a Yanma or Heracross.

Anyways, back to the battle on hand! Round 8!

Cici the female Shuckle began to glow with a red aura around her monster. The aura itself was very faint and light, almost leaning to more pink than actual red. Torchic, not sure of what to make of this, proceded to wrap his opponent in a dazzling spiral of flames. The fire power was strengthened considerably thanks to the bright sun's rays, improving Torchic's condition significantly. The flames ate through the rock snail, licking her all over, from her sinewy flesh to into her shell. Despite these injuries, Cici still remained steadfast.

This same scene occured twice and thrice as the flames continued to roast the rock snail, giving waves of extreme pain. Cici was really heaving now, as the damage inflicted was extreme. Soon, her body began to flush in a violent shade of red, from roasted head to toe. From her monster unleased a brutal wave of scarlet energy upon Torchic, as the poor fire chick felt its wrath being severely punished from the constant assults from head to toe. Both monsters are now heaving and in various magntudes of pain, foreshadowing their eventual succumbment. Who of the two that will remain standing is the real question.~

You may be in pain, Cici, but just remember that Blaze is worse off.

Begin with Mud-Slap, and then use a Double Team. Let loose with a Rock Slide after that.

    Mud-Slap - Double Team - Rock Slide

My ASB A-Team: Qwerty (Magneton), Cici (female Shuckle), Pudge (male Persian), Fuji (male Torkoal), Light (Starmie), Matthias (male Flygon) (six others)

Blaze, use Protect while Cici tries to Mud-Slap you, then use Swift to find the real Cice after Double Team, then while Cici looks confused finding some rocks for Rock Slide attack, use Flamethrower.

    Protect ~ Swift ~ Flamethrower

~Despite being soaked in the rain, fried under the scorching heat, sleep deprived, and under the posssible risk of suffering some kind of fever from all of this rash nonsense, our TPMASBL ref continues to brave forward and continue drawing this match down the line. Both Pokemon are down to the half-way mark, or at least close to it. With both trainers already down on one each, one can tell the match is at its half way point. But enough of my silly jabber...

Cici the Shuckle, the better off of the two, pulls out her tendrils and grabs gobfuls of wet and moist mud. Albeit the mud is much more dry due to the prolonged heat, it is still wet and moist enough to pose a potential hazard for our firey friend, the Male Torchic Blaze, who took me 3-4 rounds just to realize his nickname...X_X; The mud is hurled towards Blaze with enough force to deal some nasty damage. However, in time, Blaze erected a powerful force field around its monster completely nullifying the attack.

Continuing her tempo, the Shuckle began creating illusionary copies of herself - four in fact - so five Shuckles surrounded the poor Torchic. Blaze, however was completely unfettered by this amateurish strategy, he thought, and fired several razordisks all over the place, wiping out each of the images and smacking Cici. Although the damage was meager, the fake images were now gone.

Cici ended her turn by trying to execute her last command by seeking out some suitable rocks or boulders in the nearby vincity. Seeing none, she decided to curl up into her shell and ricochet herself into our firey friend. Blaze responded by roasting and charring Cici on her way, dealing more solid fire damage. Finally, her shell made contact, dealing strong damage, as well as leaving a nasty oval-shaped bruise on the Torchic's soft chest.~

Use Withdraw when he goes for the first Reversal, and then use Earthquake! If he's still standing, Constrict him again.

    LET'S ROCK!

~With both combantants down below the green, it's obvious that one or the other is about to give in soon enough. Blaze, the worse of the two, set his sights upon Cici, with a maniac gleam in his eye, was pumping himself for whatever kind of assult Cici was to throw at him. And it was coming soon enough, as the Shuckle yanked her tendrils from the ground, poised and ready, and began to...

...withdraw into her shell? This Blaze hasn't expected at all as the Torchic stared at the Shuckle clueslessly, and then falling onto the ground with a soft plop, pooped out with a shiny Anime-style Sweatdrop (TM), courtesy of the ASBL[/endadverisement].

At around this same time, the light teal aura that layered upon the rock bug Cici finally gave away, making her open for what's to come. As Cici squirmed out, Blaze decided to muster his strength for the initiative, and shot another stream of vicious flames, frying up the Shuckle severely. The constant barrage of fire attacks left and right certainly roasted her, but none other caused such heavy burns such as this! Now with no Safeguard to protect poor Cici, she became the victim of nasty burns all over her yellow skin and tentacles, making her body turn to a shade of orange. Mustering all her strength at this point, she drove her charred appendages into her focus with all her might, releasing a brutal shockwave across the entire field. This tossed Blaze a good half-meter across the field as he was greeted with a newly opened crevice, dealing powerful damage to the fire chick. With the impact landing and type weakness, Blaze, the male Torchic, finally fell down.~

    Great work, Cici!

(On a side note, MTC, could you please get rid of that Cyberscore banner? It takes forever to load on a 56K connection, and it slows my system down horribly while it's loading. I find it slightly inconsiderate.)

Now, his Ditto will take a little while to take a new shape, so take a break to start with and try to get some strength back. Then inconvenience it with a blast of Sludge Bomb, before grabbing whatever of it can be grabbed for a Constrict.

People complain about the weirdest of things... For the remainder of this battle I've swapped it for a static banner, I'll switch it back after this battle, as it will most likely cause less of a problem after this battle. However I will remind you: that's what the "Don't show other users' signatures." checkbox in the profile area is for
