congrats! (I also caught him, but with an ultraball)
Okay so there I was, battling Kyogre. I had constantly battled, lost, and turned my game off to restart it right before meeting him. Finally, after over ten times, I decided I couldn't catch him so I was going to just kill him and that was that. Well in my final battle with him, I was still trying to catch him. I tried a premier ball and a bunch of ultra balls. In a cry of desperation, I flung a Pokeball at him..... AND CAUGHT IT!
If I had been drinking something at the time I would of probably spit it out. I was shocked. SHOCKED! I caught Kyogre with a Pokeball after about a dozen ultra balls didn't work? Coool! I felt like bragging though I'm sure there are others who have done the same. But hey, what's the point of joining a forum without bragging once in a while![]()
congrats! (I also caught him, but with an ultraball)
You cheated by constantly restarting![]()
Who cares if he "cheated." Besides, I wouldn't even call it cheating because there is no code entering. If you ran out of Poke Balls while battling a legendary, would you just let it go? Especially Kyogre... he is a great pokemon
Constantly restarting isn't cheating - atleast I know I and/or most people wouldn't consider it so. I mean, who DOESN'T save before fighting a legendary and only gives themself one chance? Almost all the people here, I'm sure, have tried more than ONCE. Sorry, it just seems to make a lot of sense to me...
Working ;D
I don't really consider it cheating either, but constantly restarting to catch a pokemon isn't really something to brag about. Even if it was caught with a pokeball.

Well.... x.x I'd be proud too after trying to many times, it takes.. uh, time.
Working ;D
ok restarting isn't cheating imo...its a strategy.
I really don't know what I meant, I certainly don't consider it to be cheating. My posts usually make sense, I swear
Although it's not much of a "strategy". A strategy involves using a ball that is good for catching Kyogre, like the Net ball, along with putting it to sleep and reducing its hp as low as possible. Restarting and hoping for the best isn't much of a strategy.
I sold all my pokeballs once I could buy Ultra Balls. I bought like 40 or so.
Kyogre is the easiest legend to catch. Just bring in a high level Shedinja, and he can't do jack to you.
This happened to me in Crystal with Lugia.
Hey cool, I did this yesterday w/ the PokeBall. I am not joking. It took hell out of me to catch it. But thanks to my plusle, he helped a ton
If im right it was
Plusle@Nothing
Thunder
Light Screen
Thunder Wave
Fake Tears
All I did is thunder it 3 times, then I used t-wave and away the PokéBall goes.
Congrats! The neat thing is that you have the proof right there in the game, because the ball used is shown when you send it out.
It'd be less of an acheivement if you had deliberately gone out to do it with dozens of pokéballs, but the fact that you fluked it as a last ditch effort makes it special
You'll be able to casually pooh-pooh all those Master-, Timer- and Dive- ball caught Kyogres. Don't let your 00berness go to your head!
(Of course, if you'd actually caught it with a Safari Ball.... damn, I'd be impressed!)
In theory you could get it with a Nest Ball for novelty, or a Luxury Ball because you REALLY care about your pokémon...
rinku
The GREEN Pokémon master!
I caught the red gyrados(sp) with a pokeball once in my crystal version
hehehe, that would be impressive(Of course, if you'd actually caught it with a Safari Ball.... damn, I'd be impressed!)![]()
And if you dont save your game before battling legendaries...

I'm trying to catch RayQuaza with a Luxury Ball. The failure rate, so far, is 100%. o_O
Does the Dive Ball technically work well against Kyogre? Because, when you fight it, the background looks like if it were underwater.
Heh, the exact same thing happened to me. La la la, oops my Ultra Balls are gone, oh not, not my Premier Ball, shoot there go my Dive Balls, ARRRGUH he got loose out of all of my 21 Great Balls (and let me say this guy was paralyzed and had like 2 hit points left -_-;; ).
Oh wait a sec, I have ONE Pokeball left! Hmm, might as well.
DING! Kyogre was caught!
O_O
This must've been my 20th try to catch the stupid thing...when I caught it I jumped up and cried out "I caught it I caught it I caught it I caught with a POKEBALL!"
Then I woke my stepmother upShe wouldn't believe when I said it was a special occasion.
In crystal, Sorlax used rest and I caught him with Pokeball at full health.
A while back, in my Red version, I caught the Mewtwo with a pokeball. all I did was battled it intill it was down to like 1 HP and then Paralised it. Then I though the Pokeball and caught it. NO CHEATS at all! I caught it without doing the turn off cheat.
I did the same exact thing with Groudon!!
It took me like ten times, so i was about to throw a master ball (which is NOT a good idea) and then just threw a pokeball by mistake and caught it. Its pretty wierd that i hit pokeball by mistake and not master ball. Maybe it was trying to tell me something...
Anyway, CONGRATS!
Heehee... I caught Kyogre with a luxury ball because I love all my pokémon. ^_^Originally posted by rinku

When I caught Kyogre he wasn't asleep, paralyzed or anything. He was still trying to kill my Pokemon. Plus all my Pokemon were at levels 35/36 when he was at level 45. All I had was a few Pokeballs, a bunch of ultra balls, one premier ball and a bunch of dive balls. I didn't even try my dive balls -_- and I didn't run out of ultra balls, either. I was just angry at the guy and flung a Pokeball at him because I knew he would just break out anyways.
Plus I didn't have any electric Pokemon on my team.
And none of my friends like Pokemon (except one but I didn't find that out till two nights ago) and I wanted to brag. You can say I cheated, you can say 'so what?' but I'm proud of myself since it was this powerful, legendary Pokemon who was not asleep, paralyzed or anything and all my Pokemon were nine or ten levels below it. So![]()
Oh and I am a 'she' not a 'he'
To cathc Groudon, will i have to use a sleep/paralysis move?
I dunno, I don't have Ruby so I've never tried catching Groundon. But I just happened to have NO Pokemon in my team that knew any sleep or paralysis moves and I don't like switching around my team. Once I have a team I like, I stick to it. But if you already have a Pokemon that knows one of those moves then I'd say go for it! Better safe then sorry.
I never restarted while trying to catch Kyogre, i caught him first try, with a net ball.Originally posted by Crufidal

The regi's on the other hand, i must have restarted 200 times trying to catch those days, it took me a good 5 or 6 hours before i had them ;o
I caught suicune in crystal with a pokeball at the first time! My poke was Granbull
not to dog your feats or your pride, but....
in my recent observations, I caught groudon about 10 times (restarting after i caught him of course), and recorded down his stats. I noticed that I was able to catch all of them with greatballs, except the weakest three (pokeball), and the strongest two (ultraballs). So acctually, the higher the pokemon's stats were, the higher level ball I had to use. I was proud when I caught groundon the first time with a pokeball at half health left, but i compared his stats to the ones with www.pokefor.tk 's pokedex, and found they were acctually at the bare minimal. So you don't have to listen to me if you want, but i think that pokemon with higher stats have less odds of being catched with lesser balls.
