The ASB Tournament: Information Center

One day late...but never mind. HERE WE ARE! The ASB Tournament is Ok-Go.

SET-UP

--16 competetors are needed in the Tournament.

--It works in a basic pyramid format. 16 become 8, 8 become 4, 4 become 2, and 2 becomes 1.

--You will be paired up as accordingly as possible. For example, if you still do not have evolved Pokemon, then there is a small chance you will go up against me.

--We will need as many refs as possible, hopefully we can get 5. I will happily be one of the referees and I assume Dan/Razor Leaf will be, too. Obviously the more we get, the less work each will have to do. You can ref and participate.

--In relation to the above point, the more refs we have, the more matches can happen at once. Obviously if we just do one match at a time we'll be here this time in 2007.

--There is a sign up sheet below for participating AND reffing. Your reffing status will be taken into consideration.

--Each round of the tournament will have different rules. This topic will be updated with the pairings for the Tournament, and the Round Briefing which will explain the rules for each round.

--Tournament fighting DOES count as EXP for evolving Pokemon. You can evolve them during the Tournament but NOT if they are currently in a match.

--Referees will earn points depending on the type of match they ref. Some rounds have less Pokemon in than others. This will be stated what the referee will earn in the Round Briefing itself.

--The prizes are as follows:


3rd place – 4 points

2nd place – 6 points

1st place – 8 points and a free catch/evolution.


I think I've covered the basics there. the 3 finalists will also win trophy sprites for their sigs or websites so that they can show off to their friends etc all.

As matches finish and new ones begin, this topic will be updated so you know just whats going on. We have 3 matches going on at any one time. When one finishes, a new one is started.

The details for the first round are below. These apply for every match stated above:


Round One!

For round one trainers will face each other in a double battle. 2 Pokemon each, both out at once. The arena is The Missing Link stadium - a plain arena with very finely cut grass. There is high seating and it is a spacious area.

The matches in Round One last Five Rounds. After 5 rounds, the winner is decided. Obviously the one with the healthiest Pokemon after 5 rounds is the winner.

I'd say it's whoever had the healthiest Pokemon before they fainted.

Exactly. Whoever has the most HP before they faint goes onto round 2.

What if the highest is on my team and the second highest is on Legends?

We will add your team totals together.

So if you had a Pokemon on 95% and one on 50%, and Charles had one on 60% and the other on 10%, we would add the totals together. Your total would be 145%, and Charles would be 70%, so in that example, you would win.

Heyall, is Rest banned in Contests and Tournaments? If it isn't it should be banned because that would just be a cheap last round trick to pull... I just thought of that in one of my mood swings that made me paranoid. ^-^ Happy battling to all adn to all a victory (but not to the ones who lose.)

Darkfire: Very good point. It can be used I suppose, since we never banned it. Whoops. If you do use it, then you really don't deserve to win.

Anyway an issue we never really touched was points. Referees get points for each match they ref but you do not get points if you win or lose a Tournament match unless you come in the top 3.

Referees from the list on page 1 (there are 6 of us) will recieve Three points for each Tourney match they ref. This only applies for round one, however! When round 2 is up we will have a different point system.


HOWEVER


IF you are not on the list on page 1, and still fancy reffing a match, you may. However you will only recieve Two points for each match. Don't try lying to us because we know who is on the list and who isn't.

Make sure you know this.

Time for an update.

Since we have only one match to go, I decided to post the summary for Round 2, which should excite some of you. And when the final match is finished, ala Round 1, we will post 2 or 3 matches up at once.


Round 2!

Round 1 tested your ability to handle two Pokemon at once. Round 2 will test your knowledge of Pokemon types, strengths and weaknesses. In this match, you choose which Pokemon your opponent will use for the match. For example:

Chris 2.0> Razor Leaf will use Glott, Spheal [M]
RaZoR LeAf: Chris 2.0 will be using Marowak [M].

The randomiser will decide who picks first. You can choose your foes smallest, weakest Pokemon, but will they pick one of your Pokemon that has a weakness to theirs?

The match will last for five rounds, and the healthiest after five rounds will go on to Round 3. The Round 2 pairings will be posted shortly.

Ok so my battle with vermillion is the only one going on right now, correct?

If you want you can randomize already but just put us up as winner of Silencer vs Vermillion. We should still be at the same level so...

The reason I'm posting this is because I don't want the tournament to stretch out to long because off 1 battle. We still are just at round 2, waiting for vermillion to post his attacks for round 3. And that has been 5 days. And seeing that our ref (sorry RaZoR LeAf) needed 10 days and 14 days to post round 1 and 2 I just don't see this battle finishing soon.

Edit: I might have sounded a bit to harsh. I do not meen to hurt anyone's feelings. I know you people have personal lives aswell. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the days but I am just mentioning facts. I really hope I didn't p*ss off RaZoR LeAf or Vermillion with this post...

Don't risk a victory simply because it's taking a while. Your match was (iirc) the last one to start so it's understandable it's taking time. Razor Leaf has been swamped as of late, but he promises he'll be catching up soon.

If you, Vermillion AND Razor Leaf came to that conclusion, then we'd think about skipping the rest of your match. But I very much advise against it.

I didn't meen to say to skip the match, I ment that you could already make the pairings for round 2. for example

-Charles Legend vs Andrew
-The Blue Avenger vs Wolfsong
-Weasel Overlord vs RaZoR LeAf
-Knight of time vs winner Silencer/Vermillion

This way you can start the second round but just put mine or vermillions match to start last... IF vermillion agrees to this(although I wouldn't see why not).

Oh I see. Well I still would rather wait - we are not in a hurry and people can evolve/catch Pokemon between these 2 rounds.

Besides, you and Verm are completely differnt battlers, and we try and pair things up accordingly. It wouldn't be fair to say "Chris 2.0 vs whoever wins the last match" because whoever did win (you/Vermillion) would alter my chances of winning.

I appreciate the feedback, but I think its just easier this way.
