Round 1. Wolfsong vs. Classy Cat18

Stats

Ref: Hoping he can do this good.

Welcome one, welcome all, to my first reffing of a match. I'm your guide, Darth Skrusti, and I will use the Force on anyone who interferes with this battle! Get it? Got it? Good.

In one corner, we have the lovely Wolfsong, who has chosen her Male Poochyena Dakota to come out first. The Poochyena howls, and prepares itself for battle.

In the other corner, we have the classiness of Classy Cat18 ready to make everything classified. (8D) (His?)Her first Pokémon is Maui, a Squirtle also of the male persuasion. Commands are given, and the two combatants start it off quickly!

Dakota wastes no time in setting up his Double Team. Three other wolf-looking Pokémon appear, each as solid as the real one. Squirtle, taking a chance, breathes in deeply, and with a cry of "Squiiiirt!" Blasts out a jet of Water at the closest clone. The water passes through the clone, and lands on the ground, making it wet. The remaining Poochyena (Two clones, one real) laugh, and prepare their next attack.

The three get in a line, and as one charge forward. Squirtle, unsure as to which is the real one, lowers his head, and meets their charge with his. Energy builds up like friction on the Squirtle's head, and dark/poison energy drips from the fangs of the Poochyena.

A sickening crunch is heard as Squirtle meets his enemy head on. Dakota flies limply away and lands with a soft thump on the ground, his breathing shallow. The two clones disappear, since Squirtle knows who is the right one. However, thanks to that head on charge, Squirtle has two deep fang marks on the top of his noggin, and the poison begins to work its way into Squirtle's bloodstream.

Unaware of this event, Squirtle gathers his energy and blasts the wounded pup with an Ice Beam. The beam fails to freeze any part of the pooch, but it deals damage none the less. It seems Wolfsong and Dakota have come off worse this round, but that doesn't mean the war is over!

Ouch, not a good start but it can change in the blink of an eye. All right, Dakota, start wtih one more double team and get yourself mixed up among them. Next, frighten that squirtle with a scary face. However if Maui tries to avoid it by closing his eyes, use secret power instead. Finally finish with shadow ball.

Darth Skrusti raises his reffing flags, his oh so special flags...*ahem*...and signals the start of round 2.

Wolfsong commands her Pokémon to use a Double Team, and the Baby-Wolf type staggers to his feet, and concentrates as hard as he can. A faint pop is heard, as 2 new Poochyena who look just like Dakota appear next to Dakota. Happy that he was able to focus himself away from the pain, Dakota gives a happy bark, his clones mimicing his every move, and he turns to look at his worthy opponent, who has managed to Withdraw inside his shell, making Classy_Cat a very happy person.

Seeing as his Scary Face would now be quite useless, Dakota concentrats on hidden potential deep inside his body, and the Secret Power starts to take form. Soon, a beam of energy forms in front of Dakota, and he waits to send it off, feeling if he sent it now, it wouldn't do much. (Deep?) Inside his shell, Maui is busy concentrating to Refresh his body, and a small outer layer of skin peels off, leaving Maui feeling a bit refreshed, but the poison is still working its way through poor Maui's bloodstream.

Dakota can't hold his energy any longer, and the beam blasts forward in a brilliant flash of light. It barely manages to breach one of poor Squirtle's arm holes, striking the Turtle for good damage, and filling it with a sleepy sensation. (Trust me. *This* was a random roll, and it managed to both breach Maui's shell, *and* make him drowsy o0 I was *very* odded out by this.)

Feeling quite happy with himself, Dakota barks again, and keeps his muzzle open, concentrating the ghostly energies inside of him. The Shadow Ball begins to form, just as, before he falls asleep, Maui is able to create two clones of himself. Then, the effects of the Secret Power overwhelm the poor Squirtle, and he falls into a deep slumber. Snores emanate from seemingly all of the clones, and Dakota is confused as to which Squirtle to attack.

But, as we all know, you can't really concentrate in your sleep, and Maui's clones slowly fade from existance. Proudly, the Shadow Ball, now fully charged, flies freely from Dakota, and slams into Maui's shell, dealing a small bit of damage to the Water-Type. Inside the shell, Maui continues to snooze, faint snores emanating from it. Dakota, very pleased with himself and his trainer, barks happily whilst he runs around in circles...

Oh, and C_C, the reason your Refresh didn't work is because it only works on poison that hasn't seeped into the body yet. =( Sorry, tis the move's official ruling. And you can't keep Clones when you're sleeping, because you can't concentrate on keeping them active whilst snoozing.

”Hello everyone, I’m going to be your ref for the time being!” I call as I step onto the field. The two combatants nod to me, very eager to start the next round. I get to my side of arena and wait for classy_cat18 to say her attacks.

“Maui!* If you can hear me, use Sleep Talk!” classy cat calls to her slumbering Pokémon.* “If you wake up after that, use Rapid Spin and then Protect!* Otherwise, just keep on using Sleep Talk!”

Wolfsong orders of her hyper puppy, “All right Dakota, start with howl.* Next, I want you to use torment.* Finally finish by taking a break if you have clones and using double team if you don't.”

Dakota swings his head up and calls to the sky, building confidence in his self as his cries reverberate off the stadium walls. Maui cringes a bit in his sleep but then starts muttering to himself at a rapid rate. Then he stands to his feet, eyes closes all the while, and flings his arms out. The clouds start to gather, turning with him at the centre. He looks up and calls out to the sky. A second later a great downpour starts. I slick my hair back out of my face. The trainers each make equally annoyed faces. “I come and sub, and the first thing I get is soaking wet. Gaaaaaaaah” I grumble to myself.

The next set has Maui mumbling rapidly to himself again. He smiles in the downpour and gets up unsteadily. He then takes a great gulp of air and holds it in for a second. He then lets rip a great torrent of water at Dakota. Somehow, the Hydro Pump slams into the real Poochyena and sends him flying. Dakota is none to pleased with this. When he stops skidding he get up and runs up to Maui, growling at him and showing his teeth. Probably saying a great many unpleasant things will happen to him if he uses the same move twice in a row. Maui is cringes in is sleep and quickly scuttles away from Dakota.

The last set has Maui obeying Dakota’s wish to not use twice in a row attacks. He lies still asleep on the ground, looking like he is having very unpleasant dreams. Dakota, seeing his clones gone, concentrates and pops out three more. Maui whimpers as the poison seeps through his systems.

"All right Dakota, start with Sunny Day." said Wolfsong, "Then use Shadow Ball and finish with Secret Power."

"Maui, use Snore! Then Sleep Talk again! Then use Snore again! If you wake up anytime soon, use Skull Bash and Rapid Spin!" yells classy_cat18 excitedly.

Dakota looks to the sky that is pooring rain down upon all of them. He howls to it long and loud. The storm immediately begins to dissipate, the clouds parting and the sun creeping through. He isn't quite finished when Maui begins to snore, VERY loudly. Dakota winces and flattens his ears, two of his clones' disappearing.

The Sun is out now however, and shining merrily down on both of them. Maui sifts and opens his eyes, blinking slowly. He yawns before getting to his feet. Only to be blasted of them again by a Shadow Ball from Dakota. He skids on his shell and leaps to his feet as he slows down. He is very angry and aims a quick Skull Bash at one of the Dakota's. He runs and flies at it, but it isn't the real one and he sails on through.

Dakota tries to put Maui to sleep again with another Secret Power, but it is to no avail. He is only slammed back a few feet. He grins wickedly and then, taking a running start leaps into the air, withdrawing into his shell. His shell spins rapidly at Dakota like a Frisbee. Dakota cannot run and is hit by Maui. The shell causes a minor burning sensation as it grinds against him for a bit, before flying off and Maui landing. Maui groans as Toxic courses through him.

Maui gulps as he gets back on his feet. The poison in his system is doing increasing damage. He knows he has to at least try to get Dakota down before he succumbs to its effects in a couple rounds. Dakota is ok, although becoming increasingly tired as the battle goes on.

Kat is also worried about Maui's poisoning, "Oh boy, poison." She rubs the back of her neck, frowning. She knows the next few rounds are crucial. She sighs but smiles to Maui, praising him, "Good job, Maui." He smiles at his trainer and gets into a defensive position. Kat orders her attacks, "Now...use Yawn. Then use Double Team. Finally use Dig." He nods and waits for Wolfsong to order her attacks to Dakota.

"Dakota start with Swagger to hopefully stop him from using Yawn; if that won't work use Protect instead." she says hoping to prevent Dakota from falling asleep. "Next, use Odour Sleuth after Maui uses Double Team and finish with Double Team of your own."

Dakota is left up to his own judgement and he decided that Protect would be the better choice of attacks. He concentrates on making his shield, and so is totally oblivious to Maui. He Yawns widely, trying to make his opponent drowsy. It doesn't work as Dakota's shield fully forms around him, shielding him from any attacks.

Maui sets up a defensive network of his own. He closes his eyes, concentrating and pops out four doubles of himself. He encircles Dakota, daring him to try and guess which on is the real Squirtle. Dakota knows just how to get through this and uses his cute red nose. He lifts it to the air and howls with glee when he sniffs out the real one. The doubles collapse, Maui's gig up.

Maui doesn't look pleased but is glad of his trainer's next orders. He turns to the dirt arena, and starts madly tearing at the Earth. He quickly disappears under the ground. Only a small mound is left on the surface of the arena. Dakota shrugs and also makes four copies of his self. The round ends, Maui feeling his poisonous pain deep under the arena. Maui's and his doubles encircle the mound of dirt. He breathing heavily however, he is becoming very tired.

Dakota is breathing very heavily and with his doubles it adds to the effect that he is very tired. Maui is chilling underground in his little pocket of air. He is also getting increasingly tired. Wolfsong thinks long about her attacks, she wants her little pup to last as long as possible. " Dakota, for as long as you have your Double Team clones just relax. When they are gone, I want you to use Scary Face and Sand Attack.

Kat cheers on her Squirtle, "Hang in there, Maui! Finish your Dig! Then try a Rapid Spin/Hydro Pump combo!"

Dakota looks very happy to hear that he is aloud to sit this round out. He lays down, confident his doubles will protect him. Maui meanwhile is burrowing upwards. The doubles somehow have their own fake weight and he is unsure which to choose. He sighs and randomly chooses one the burst out under. Dakota is laying his head on his paws when he is sent flying through the air. Amazingly Maui managed to choose the right one.

Dakota growls, his doubles are gone and he is very unhappy his rest was disturbed. He bares his fangs and grows menacingly at Maui. Maui does not like this at all. He does not want to go anywhere near Dakota. He does his trainer's attack but, he only spins in place, he does not go anywhere near Dakota. He squirts out the Hydro Pump but because he is so nervous it misses Dakota entirely.

This turn has Maui landing and looking on Dakota with fear. Dakota meanwhile swiped his paw into the dirt and a great glob of sand lands in Maui's eyes. Dakota grins as Maui rubs frantically at his eyes, unable to see. He has to stop however when Toxic once again circles in his system.

Kat is greatly worried for her Squirtle, and for good reason. He has serious poison troubles now. She bites her nails, and forgets he is terrified of Dakota when she orders her next attacks, "Oh man. Maui, try Brick Break! Then Water Pulse! Finally, try Focus Punch!" He looks at his trainer like she's crazy.

Wolfsong is more worried about the level of Dakota's energy, "I know you're tired, but we can still do this. All right Dakota, since Maui is terrified of you let's give him more reasons to keep him from getting close. Start with a ferocious Roar. Then use Howl. Finally finish with a Shadow Ball."

Maui is too terrified to go anywhere near Dakota so he simply sits on the ground, whimpering in fear. On the bright side since he's not doing anything he is gain a little energy back. It doesn't help Maui when Dakota roars at him. He squeaks (amazingly) and runs back as far as he can get from Dakota.

Since he does not have to go anywhere near Dakota for the next attack, Maui fires his Water Pulse. It hits Dakota and sends him skidding back; the rings of confusion miss him however. Maui is slightly more confident, but then Dakota howls. He stays on his side of the arena, any confidence lost. Dakota however is feeling better, and more powerful.

The last turn has Maui once again simpering on the floor. He gains a little energy again, but Dakota takes this ample opportunity and slams Dakota with a Shadow Ball. He can't go back any farther and the dark black ball crackles against his skin, causing the good pain. The next second Maui is on the ground convulsing; with the high poison in his system he is in a great deal of pain. He is almost finished off by the end of the round.
