    Default Arena Trap in R/S/E or FR/LG Safari Zone- useless or useful?

    Hi.

    I just thought about this subject on the Safari Zone areas found in R/S/E and FR/LG, and I need to ask a question right now.

    In R/S/E/FR/LG, is it possible to prevent a wild Pokemon from fleeing if the lead Pokemon has the Arena Trap trait, that is, if the wild Pokemon is normally affected by Arena Trap?

    Interesting point, I'll definitely look into it. I know the other side-effects of natures in Emerald work, like a Keen Eye Pokemon in your party increases the rate of a wild Pokemon with a held item or something (don't quote me on that one)

    But whether or not Arena Trap (or Shadow Tag) works in Safari I don't know. In theory you wouldn't be able to run from Wild Wobbufet in RSE, so I'm assuming it's a no.

    I would say no as well, because in the Safari Zone, you don't actually send out a Pokemon.

    Yep, that is right. Because you don't actually send out a Pokémon into the battle, those effects will not take place. However, other abilities that work outside of battle will work, like Illuminate attracting more wild Pokémon, Synchronize attracting Pokémon with the same nature, (Emerald Only) Cute Charm attracting Pokémon of the opposite gender, (Emerald only) etc... all of those abilities will still work.
