Default Is ASB any good these days?

ASB used to be the reason I visited these forums. I was a Gym Leader, and I briefly moderated this forum, and I had one of the highest number of victories. ASB was my life then. But everytime I've come back it's just been worse and worse. Is it worth doing nowadays or no?

It depends what you expect from it. It's different to how it started out. You can't get thousands of Yen anymore and there's no sig moves. But there's aren't any businesses distracting people from battles and the like. There are less people taking part now than there have been in the past, that's for sure.

I never really thought the money system was very good. Really I liked it best back in the old days, 2000-2002. After that it was never as much fun. Back then the refs were more dependable and more creative. And it was more fun. I'd be willing to do it now, but I'm afraid I don't know nearly enough about Pokemon these days to be effective. I'm horribly rusty as a battler.

I only joined here a year ago, and I'm now one of the Mod's in ASB. I think it has definitely gotten quieter recently (the forum crash in June seemed to be the main cause) but that doesn't go against the forum. I think as it stands right now, we're in a tight little community and everyone seems to know each other.

The only problem is reffing, which I think is due to a) laziness and b) busy schedules (college/Uni etc as well as Christmas coming up). I have to admit, I am a very lazy ref.

Despite that, I do love moderating this forum. I enjoy battling others, I like the expirience and it's great fun. I wish I joined sooner, when the hyped up period was (say 2000 to 2002) and maybe I could have enjoyed it more.

It is our responsibility as a community to make ASB better. Unfortunately we can't expect someone else to do it for us.

I think, Gengachu, you might do well to join up. This isn't a business so I'm not just saying that to pull in 'customers'; I think that you might enjoy trying some of the new aspects (such as the new Pokemon, for example, and new moves). If you don't enjoy it, then you could always stop coming.

I don't think ASB will be as great as it once was. I think it can get better

I, for one, am very glad I joined. Just like you, Gengachu, I am really far behind in the Pokemon world... since I've been here, I've caught up quite fast. I am modding my own forums elsewhere, so I don't have time to be a referee here, however I do find the time here and there to check up and see how things are doing.

Come back; I could use another challenger
