[B][COLOR=powderblue]Let round One begin!

[COLOR=silver]Both of the opponents stand at opposite ends of the snowy arena, with what appears to be a large pole in the centre. It is true, the battlers are at the North Pole, and despite the pole being a thing of legend, there it stands, proud and tall.

The players whip out their pokeballs for what looks to be one of the biggest battles seen in a while; three pokemon each in what can only be called a ‘mob’.

First to appear is Dark Sage’s team; Venus the female Kirlia, Oak the male Nuzleaf and Lily the female Lombre.

This grass heavy mob squares up next to the frozen lake as SR-71 prepares his team of Cerebus the male Houndour, Metallingus the Metang and Hoops the female Wooper. Opposite the lake the pokemon make faces at the Sage’s mob in an attempt to psyche them out.

Both trainers yell their instructions at their pokemon and the match begins with each being told to take a single member of each team.

Venus is to handle the Metang, and she floats nearer and nearer, her eyes glowing with psychic energy as she begins her Skill Swap. To her surprise, however, Metallingus chooses not to attack her physically, but uses a Toxic instead. As the ball of goop flies towards her face, she desperately tries to erect a Protect in time. The sphere snaps up, but not before a tiny amount of poison entered the Kirlia’s mouth. Spitting, she desperately tried to get rid of it, but it was too late. Not only that, but her protect had taken up quite a bit of her energy and she felt somewhat drained now. However, obeying her trainers orders was her first priority, and as the second ball of flying goop came hurtling towards her, this time in the form of a shadow ball, she snapped up her hands, beckoning at the sky. A large bolt of electricity came snaking from a cloud to hit the Metang smack on the back as it’s attack connected with Venus’ shield. Rolling from the sheer force of the lightning, Metallingus scowled in Venus’ direction as it struggled back to it’s feet.

Meanwhile...

Lily, upon being told who to direct her attacks at, began to chant in a sweet voice while looking up at the sky hopefully. As she looked, the sun came out, illuminating the arena, but what’s this? Another voice began to chant, but this one is from Hoops, who does not like the look of the sunlight. In answer to the song, Hoops was chanting clouds into the sky, which instantly darkened. Soon after, rain began to pour down in large drops, soaking all the pokemon through. In anger, Lily began to charge her Solar Beam up, while Hoops did the same with her Blizzard. Both pokemon let off their attacks at the same time, the Solar Beam cutting through Hoops’ Blizzard and sending shards of ice flying in all directions, including into Lily’s eyes and onto her tender skin. Howling in pain, she sat down with a thump, only gratified by the fact that her Solar Beam had managed to scorch quite a bit of Hoops, even if it wasn’t quite at full power when she unleashed it.

Meanwhile...

...Oak, grinning slightly at Cerebus, darted in straight towards his face in a blindingly quick attack. Startled, Cerebus flinched as his attentions were focused on Venus, leaving him open for Oak’s next attack, a Brick Break carefully aimed to do as much damage as possible.
Cerebus, however, has different ideas. Shaking his head and growling, he began to glow a menacing red colour. Oak continued with his attack, all his energy concentrated into his balled fist and so he failed to see the danger he was in. As Cerebus howled his defiance and the attack connected, Oak noticed the red, but by then it was too late as his own attack whipped back at him, bounding off Cerebus’ unearthly fur. The reflected Brick Break got Oak right in the chest, flinging him off balance and onto the floor.

At the end of round one, statistics are as follows...
