AOL cookie help

I'm at my grandmother's right now and have just for the first time experienced the true shittieness that is AOL. But anyway... can any AOL user tell me how to enable cookies? I've been trying to figure out in the last day... I can't even check my damn email cause of this.

I think this is 6.0...

6.0? Then I'm pretty sure this will work...

1. From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings
2. Select Preferences
3. Select Internet Properties (WWW)
4. Select the Security tab
5. Select the Custom Level tab
6. Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click "Enable"
7. Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click "Enable"
8. Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings

I found that info here. Hopefully that'll work.

That's what I was told before, but all is good except for the fact that up to 6 niether of those options appears under the custom level tab!

Hmm. What options are under your custom level tab? If you have 5.0, for instance, there should be an option just labeled "Cookie" that you can enable.

Sorry, I actually just realized that this was 7.0. ^^;


But anyway, your instructions worked before up to the custom level tab, there wasn't a cookie option there. But anyway... any idea how to enable them there?

Well, I have two different lists for 7.0, depending on what version of IE that it works with. (If you don't know which one applies to you, just try the first one, and try the second if the first doesn't work. Although now that I'm actually looking at it, the second one is exactly the same as the instructions for 6.0...)


AOL 7.0 with IE 6.x

1. From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
2. Select Preferences
3. Select Internet Properties (WWW)
4. Select the Privacy tab
5. Select Advanced
6. Deselect override automatic cookie handling button
7. Click OK to exit.


AOL 7.0 with IE 5.5

1. From the AOL Toolbar, select Settings.
2. Select Preferences
3. Select Internet Properties (WWW)
4. Select the Security tab
5. Select the Custom Level tab
6. Under "Allow Cookies that are stored on your computer" click "Enable"
7. Under "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)" click "Enable"
8. Select OK, Yes you want to save the settings


Does either of those work for you? If not, I can do a bit more research.
