May I ask that Toxic also be banned? >>;
I'll play. I got two waters =D
That's right folks, the name of the game is Double Team Battle. I needs four trainers, new or old, experienced or not, to battle in this field of mine. Because of the new battle limit, I imagine a lot of you have some spare spots they could battle with. Here are the terms:
Participants 4 [2 on 2].
Pokémon 8 [Double battle].
Prize Winners: 4 Points each; Losers: 2 Points each
DQ 14 days.
Banned Manuevers Attract, Destiny Bond, Grudge, Hail, Momento, Perish Song, Pain Split, Rest, Sandstorm, Substitute, Sunny Day, Toxic.
And the arena for such an occasion? drew's latest: the Lake of Rage.
the Lake of Rage
A peaceful body of water located in the Johto region. The clouds in the sky haven't left in forever, which is why they sometimes refer to this place as "the lake of eternal rain". The rain fall is pretty heavy, and any attempts to alter it will fail. The battle takes place primarily on the fields closest to the placid lake, however, if requested, the pokémon can dive into the water and do battle there. However, it is warned that the eight pokémon won't be the only ones present. At the very bottom of the lake rests a red gyarados. If someone inadvertently attacks him, he will wake up in a foul mood and begin shooting attacks haphazardly. At that point, it would be best to either retreat back to the field, or combine your talents and battle the gyarados. Using water-element pokémon for this battle is highly recommended, but it's not entirely necessary, as there are some adept swimmers of other elements (dragonair). Using electric attacks in the water is not advised, as it will surge throughout the lake causing damage to everyone.
And there you have it...
Once the four battlers have signed in, I ask that they PM me with their two choice pokémon. I will then randomly pair them up; I will then post the two teams, and which one'll choice their first strategy.

I'll sign up too. How could I resist?
And I agree, no Toxic.
- Dark Sage
Alright then. All trainers are accounted for, I just need you all (barring Darth Skrusti) to PM me their choice pokémon, and we'll be set to go. Mind you, you don't need to restrict yourself to just water-types; anyone can battle here, it's just recommended that you use water simply because of the battlefield.

Alright, I've received the PM's including all eight pokémon. Using the dice generator located at Lady Vulpix's website, I've managed to decide the teams:
1 - Darth Skrusti
2 - Asayake
3 - Chris Watarimono
4 - Dark Sage
Roll: 2, 4. Therefore,
[b][font=Palatino Linotype]Team Sage
Asayake and her kingler, Tiara. Then, her surskit, Lafite.
Dark Sage and his kirlia, Venus. Then, his ludicolo, Lilly.
[b][font=Palatino Linotype]Team Watarimono
Darth Skrusti and his mudkip, Kip. Then, his clamperl, Syako.
Chris Watarimono and his swampert, Taina. Then, his haunter, Wario.
Then, using the same generator, I decided who was attacking first:
1/3 - Team Watarimono
2/4 - Team Sage
Roll: 2. Thus, Team Sage posts their attacks first.
The four pokémon, Tiara the kingler, Venus the kirlia, Kip the mudkip, and Taina the swampert, are to battle first. Upon the defeat of one pokémon, he or she will then use their second pokémon. The team who knocks out all of their opposing team's pokémon the fastest will be declared the victors.
Asayake and Dark Sage, I await your attacks.

Here goes... Something!
Venus, cover yourself and Tiara with Safeguard.
Then, hit Taina with a Psychic.
Then, use a Thunderbolt on Kip. He's not part Ground until he grows some more!
Safeguard/Psychic (Taina)/Thunderbolt (Kip)
[font=sylfaen] Cha I'm the only girl, go me ^^
Ok Tiara! Let's show em what a Kingler can do! Since your partner is being so nice and protecting you as well has herself, and your relatively close to each other, crawl over and use Protect around the both of you. Make sure to concentrate only on that, close your eyes, and make it surround both of you. If they decide to decline to attack both of you, use Harden, but again, close your eyes. Next, slam the Psychiced Tiana with an Ice Beam. Then use Blizzard, unless an elemental attack comes your way. Then if you can bounce one (or both) off your claw, back at Taina, using Metal Claw to do it.
Protect or Harden/Ice Beam/Blizzard or Metal Claw

Kip, start out with a light Icy Wind. Don't use too much energy, just enough to make sure the attack makes that Protect go into effect, and just waste Kingler's energy.
Next, since they'll both be focusing on Taina, hit Venus with a powerful Hydro Pump. She won't be trying to dodge as she concentrates on holding Taina.
Finally, Mirror Coat that Thunderbolt. You'll feel pain, but what Venus will feel is much, much worse.
Icy Wind ~ Hydro Pump (Venus) ~ Mirror Coat (Thunderbolt - Venus)
Hohohoho!
Taina, use Mimic to aquire Venus' Safeguard! Then use Protect to stop those two attacks coming at you. End by using Iron Tail to plow through the Blizzard and into Tiara! Wahaha!
Sub: If the Protect can only parry one attack, then use it to stop Psychic.

round one
As the eternal rainfall continues to dart from the sky, four trainers, paired in two's, wander towards the intimidating Lake of Rage. They say that there's a red gyarados down there, but no one can be certain. The trainers from Team Watarimono consist of Chris Watarimono and Darth Skrusti – the two of them immediately toss their poké balls onto the soily ground below, releasing, what appears to be a mother-and-son duo; a tiny mudkip answering to the name of "Kip", and a much more fierce-looking swampert, "Taina".
Following suit, the members of Team Sage, Dark Sage and Asayake, release their duo of creatures, again on the land. Emerging from Dark Sage's poké ball is the only pokémon not typed water, a kirlia named "Venus". Called next to her is a large killer crap, kingler "Tiara". Out of the four of them, only one is gendered male.
Starting the battle officially, Venus and Tiara inch closer towards one another as the kirlia summons a protective, silver veil around both she and her partner. Tiara recipricates by summoning a similar protective veil around the both of them as Kip, the tiny mudkip, creates a weak wind of ice and cold. Taina, meanwhile, simply studies the safeguard in hopes to use it herself one day. The two members of Team Sage then focus their attacks on the large swampert. Venus tries her best to mess with Taina's psyche, but for some reason, her efforts are blocked. Meanwhile, the kingler tries to nail her with a concentrated beam of ice. However, as previous, the beam smacks into a protective veil, doing no damage whatsoever. Taina, feeling slightly fatigued, waits for her younger partner to attack; Kip does so by shooting a heavy dosage of water at his psychic adversary. The kirlia is hit in the torso (7% – Venus).
With the round nearing it's end, all four pokémon ready themselves for the final volley. Venus, slightly annoyed that she was the first to get beamed, conjures some cackling electric energy as she shoots it towards the tiny mudkip. Kip, noting the electricity, quickly shines brightly as an eerie mirror engulfs him; the lightning bolt strikes (10% – Kip), before instantly shooting back at Venus with more power than before (15% – Venus). The kingler then summons a storm of icy blue-ness; the ice storm engulfs both Kip and Taina, doing moderate damage (7% – Kip; 10% – Taina). However, Taina abruptly tears through the blizzardous cold, nailing the evolved krabby with her tail, soaked in steel-goodness (8% – Tiara).
the results
With the first round officially closed, the rain continues heavily. Taina now has a grasp on the attack "Safeguard", and hopes to use it at least once during the battle.

Apologies to you Greyfox. College has REALLY eaten my time up. This is the first time I've been on in a while. I'll get with Chris W asap. Sorry for the delay ._.
Alright, finally got time.
Kip! Travel to right in front of Taina as she uses her attack, and set up a SUBSTITUTE. This way, Swampert can pick it up and use it to defend itself if needed :>
Next, ICE BEAM Kirlia's feet to the ground.
Lastly, MIMIC Taina's last move.
(SUBS: MIRROR COAT any Electric attacks that would cause good damage.[I.E. Shockwave, T-Bolt, Thunder])
Read the first post. Substitute isn't allowed.
But no take-backs.
Who says? I didn't see Substitute up there :/
Drew, if possible, Substitute should be replaced by PROTECT if they try and attack, using a 'big' attack (I.E. Blizzard, Thunderbolt, etc.) If they don't, then Kip should use MUD SPORT to cover both himself and Taina in Mud.
Item number ten on the list there, Skrusti; you have to pay more attention. I'll let it slide this time, but I won't be so lenient on the rounds to come.Originally Posted by drew

Okay, since Taina seems to be the bigger threat...
Venus, first use Skill Swap on Taina. Try to gain her superior Special Attack prowress, and give her one of your weaknesses.
Then, hit her with Psychic.
Finally, due to Kip's last move, both of them will unleash an Earthquake at the same time, so use a Protect of your own.
[font=sylfaen] Right toe Tiara, I want you to head for that lake. On your way into the waves bash Taina over the head with a [font=sylfaen]Metal Claw. Next round you should be in the water so wait until after Taina has tried to use Mud Shot on you. You should be hidden under the waves, so she probably can't find you. After she has attacked come up and fire an Ice Beam at her. Next simply ride out the Earthquake in the lake. It shouldn't be to bad there and in turn you can use the extra powered waves to your advantage, use Surf to wallop those two in water.

round two
The rainfall seems to slow, however it's still apparent. Round two begins with Tiara scuttling sideways, as most crabs do, towards the clear lake waters for safety. Along the way, her dominant claw becomes wrapped in a shiny, metallic casing. As Taina envelops both she and her "child" in a warm safeguard, Tiara bashes Taina in the head with her heavy claw (6% – Taina) before "pulling a Zoidberg" and retreating to the waters. Swampert decides to write an angry letter, but before she can find her pen, her mind begins to quake with a sense of ambiguity. Venus links her mind to Taina's for just a second as their abilities become "swapped". A few seconds pass, and Venus begins to feel a strong defense against certain elements, namely electricity. Whilst Venus takes away the swampert's immunity, she leaves behind a sudden lack of defense. Finally, Kip begins to spurt a volley of wet dirt all around he and his "mother", protecting them a bit more.
Surrounded by waters, Tiara is protected as Taina tries to blind her with another glob of mud. Unfortunate for the large swampert, the mud is immediatly washed away by said waters before even hitting the large crustacean. Tiara pulls out of the water, immediately beaming the swampert with a solidified beam of ice (7% – Taina). Taina winces in pain as several ice shards flail off in different directions whilst her partner, Kip, fires a similar beam of ice directly at Venus. Her mind trembling to once more falter the swampert with her mind keeps her distracted, taking the ice beam directly (7% – Venus). The safeguard veil keeps her protected from solidification, but she is able to toy with the swampert's mind heavily, giving the large swamp creature a massive headache (8% – Taina).
Finally, the attacks come to a close as Taina slams her forelegs down upon the ground, sending out a large orange shockwave throughout the arena. A second elapses, and the earth begins to quake violently; however, Venus, slightly before the attack set off, immediately erected a protective sheild. Keeping hold of the shield during such time was quite a difficult task as her energy levels plummeted. Kip merely sketches the attack in his thought as he clings desperately to whatever he can (8% – Kip). Tiara, meanwhile, is somewhat protected by the waters, but still takes a bit of damage (5% – Tiara). Annoyed, the large crab closes her eyes, calling the waters around her to attack. The waters crash heavily against the beach around, causing quite a stir to all three pokémon whom were once safe on land. Venus' protect is working overtime, causing a lot of strain, but Taina and Kip take a bit of damage, unfortunately (8% – Taina; 5% – Kip).
the results
Kip is a bit woozy, but appears to be fine otherwise, know knowing how to call upon an earthquake. Taina's defense against electric attacks has been taken away from her by Venus, and Tiara's still in the water.
Meanwhile, several feet below the lake's surface, a red gyarados jerks his eyes open; it would seem that his slumber has been interrupted.

River, you take Kip, I'll take Taina! Watch out for his Mirror Coat!
Venus, start by using Future Sight to hit Taina when she doesn't expect it.
Then put up a Light Screen.
Then, hit Taina with Magical Leaf.
