Unfortunately, they aren't stopping in Cleveland, so I will probably have to end up going to Detroit or Pittsburgh, both of which are two hours away from me. Normally I wouldn't bother, but this seems like too good of an chance to pass up. (It is just a shame that the only thing that ever wants to come to Cleveland are lousy, washed-up old baseball players...)
There will also be 20 Pokémon besides Celebi that will be given away, as well as tournaments in two different classes, 12 years old and under, and 13 years old and older. You will have to preregister on pokemon.com if you want to participate in the tournaments.
Here are the 20 Pokémon available for download, it hasn't been mentioned yet if these Pokémon will be special in any way, such as having new moves or being shiny or something like that.

Yeah, I can break necks with my mind.
And as usual, they aren't going to be anywhere remotely close to where I live. Joy. I get to drive to Missouri or Texas if I want Celebi...![]()
[color=magenta]Meh, I don't know how it works exactly, this is just what pokemon.com has listed so far. Earlier in the year, you could vote for 20 Pokémon that were your favorites, and the top 20 vote-getters are the ones that are being given away on the tour. So, the best info that I have is to keep checking www.pokemon.com, and I will post any new info that I find.Originally Posted by Nabooru23

I have never battled "professionally" before, and I don't know if it will be like the Emerald competition where the guy that won just used a team of super-legendaries. Heck, as badly as I want a Celebi, I still don't know if I want to go to Detroit or Pittsburgh.

Thats cool, for americans anyway, us englanders get stiffed again![]()
I'm sure you'd be fine battling as long as you know the Standards and their weaknesses. Like catching the Standards out with a surprisingly good UU like I did with Hariyama. If it's going to use Ubers I suggest some good ones like Deoxys-LG, Lugia, and Groudon.Originally Posted by Number1ChanseyFan

If anyone gets to these Nintendo Events please fill us in on everything and if there's anything special about the 20 Pokemon.
As an Australian, and even more specifically a Tasmanian, my heart bloody bleeds. We have NEVER had any sort of promotional tour in my part of the world. At least there's a fair chance you poms are going to get some of the promotional tickets (I seem to recall the Aurora ticket was done there a couple of months ago?)Originally Posted by VenomX

My friend and I missed that Ticket so we just warped ourselves to the Island with a cheat device. Nothing wrong with that if we've missed the chance and still catch them legally.Originally Posted by rinku

I can vouch for that, there's not a chance in hell that any promotional tour will even think of stopping by in Australia. I've only ever heard on one ever happening in Australia, at that was in Sydney...ages ago. But i do believe you do have it worse rinku, since im a Victorian and reasonably close to Melbourne, there's a very very slim chance of an event like that happening there. Yah. We (and West Australia) didn't even get the recent DS tour, and there is no Wireless network hotspot down here either (although that's not such a huge issue, since it is possible to plug into it from a home connection).

Meh I can't be assed anymore. I want the new games to come out. Especially since europe is neglected by nintendo. And my brother bought one of theose nintendo usb connector wireless things (even buying a router would just work better but he has no idea). ANd he couldn't install it because it kept saying he didn't have it attached to the usb drive.

[color=magenta]Another update: For each game cartridge, you are only allowed to download 1 of the 20 Pokémon. I do not know yet if the Pokémon that you get is one of your choice or if it is random.

A router is like Ł20 more than that USB thing and a router would also allow more computers to go on the Internet if you ever needed to in the future. Guess your brother isn't so smart.Originally Posted by Sceptile_Master

Meh, just thought that I would let everybody know that people using Gameshark/Action Replay must be running wild at the tournaments. If you finish in first or second place, you have to turn in your Pokémon game to the tournament staff so that your Pokémon can be evaluated to see if they were obtained legally or not. If they catch anybody cheating, then they will be disqualified. Your game will be mailed back to you after they check it out, and you will get a free Pokémon game to take home with you, they give it to you to replace the one that they are examining, but you will get to keep it even after your game is returned to you.
Also, by checking out www.pokemon.com, you can check out previous winner's profiles. From the looks of it, everybody is using legendaries at the tournament. (Not really surprising) Just check out the people's choices for their favorite team members, as well as the guy that said that the hardest part of the tournament was trying to beat all of the people that were using the same Pokémon that he was. lol So, that points to a ton of legendaries being used. So, if anybody is planning on entering this tournament, I am just giving you a little more info. I suppose I will try out for either Detroit or Pittsburgh.

Ok. I kept an eye on this tournament and when I went back home last week, I explicitly made it a point to go to the Pokemon Center {Nintendo Center, whatever, its still a Pokemoncenter to me, I was there when it opened on day 1 damnit!}
I'm really not feeling it. Sure, I can go back home for the July 22nd NYC qualifyers. But I don't HAVE 6 legendaries. What the hell man, can't they honestly quit competetors from using those whorebastards -.- I was going to compete in Oregon, but now..I don't think I feel like trying out.
Not that I don't feel I caN't counter them, but eeh, it won't be fun when everyone I could potentially battle has a Groudon and Deoxys-F. Anyway, N1CF-If you go to Detroit or Pittsburg, I'll
a) be rooting for you and
b) awaiting your post on how hard the competition really is {I saw that one kid's profile talking about EV training, and then I saw the other guy on there with a Togetic ...which made me cry {I have a sever hate of that ...thing..}

They need to ban at least Ubers being used then maybe limit the Legendaries. My friend and I don't fight much anymore but when we do Ubers are banned and I think have two Legendaries max or something. It's not really a good game being beaten by six Ubers/Legendaries. In the end you know who the real winner is.![]()
[color=magenta]Yeah, they made a special note to ban Soul Dew L@ti and Leftover Wobbuffet, but yet they don't ban the Ubers... makes a whole lot of sense to me. Even though they don't ban Ubers, they banned Jirachi!! That seems really dumb to me, I mean, Jirachi is nice, but it really doesn't have a huge movepool, and it isn't like it was that hard to get Jirachi.
If I do go, I will probably just try standard regular Pokémon. I am not much of a battler anyways, and I don't want to get into 6 Uber vs. 6 Uber thing. Of course, I am not going to try some kind of Underused team or anything. I am mostly interested in Celebi and the other festivities anyways. As far as the tournament goes, I would love to have an honest battle with somebody that actually had to put a little thought into what they were doing, and used some diverse Pokémon. But, if I lose to a team of 6 Ubers, I am not going to hang my head, if they feel proud by winning like that, then hey, that is up to them.

That sounds really dumb to me too. All Ubers should be banned. Even when the Uber Ban Rule is used sometimes Jirachi and Celebi are still allowed.Originally Posted by Number1ChanseyFan

I do understand the banning of Soul Dew Lati@s, as that's essentially the ultimate sweeping force right there. I'm a little puzzled by the ban of Leftovers on Wobbuffet, though... I would think tossing the ubers would be more important.
And yeah, throwing out Jirachi makes no sense at all. Who'd use it, anyway?
[color=magenta]Well, I think that the only reason that they banned Leftovers on Wobbuffet is just in case two Wobbuffets would happen to meet each other in battle. If they were the only two Pokémon left, and they both had Leftovers, the battle would never end. So yeah, I can kinda understand that ban. But still, they needed to place a limit on the ubers... No doubt there are going to be plenty of teams using some combo of Mewtwo, Ho-oh, Lugia, Calm Mind-Suicune, Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. May not see so many L@ti's with the Soul Dew ban though. The failure of these bans leads to a total lack of skill and creativity, which leads to a poorly run tournament IMO. I can't imagine that the fights would be very entertaining for other to watch, or to participate in.

Yeah, there'll probably be a massive amount of exploitation of the holes in the bans. (See: Groudon.) I'm just disappointed because it pretty much assures a lack of variety and creativity in the teams. Standard uber movesets will be all over the place, and there might even be completely identical teams.
*sighs*
[color=magenta]Yeah, just like that guy that said that the hardest part of the tournament was beating the same Pokémon that were in his team. XD Maybe with a little luck the first couple of people that you get to face in the tournament won't know anything about movesets or EV training and stuff like that, so they won't be all that tough, even with their Uber teams. (I have heard that some people just make up a team of the Level 70 Pokémon that they are giving away at the tournaments. So, needless to say, going against people with Level 100 teams, they don't last very long!! ^_^ Why would anybody even bother wasting their time to do something like that?!)

To merely say they were in the tournament. Saying something like that makes people feel good inside.
Although this was already posted, Congrats Phoenixsong. Now lets see another one or two from here actually make it.

[color=magenta]I went to Pittsburgh this weekend and got my Celebi, I was able to get one on each game, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen. I was only allowed to get 4 of the top 20 Pokémon on one game though. You were only allowed a total of 4 downloads on 1 game each time through the line. The line was like 30 minutes long too, and there was nothing really different about the Pokémon, except that they were at Level 70, and their original trainer was "10 ANIV" with an ID number of 00010. So that was kinda cool. I was hoping that they would be shiny or have a special move or something though. I am just happy to have Celebi though, they are so cute!!
