A seemingly boring room with white walls; there are no doors nor walls, so it is questionable how the battlers even exist there in the first place. All techniques are able to be used effectively, despite the lack of water for surf, and the cemented floors causing hindrance for ground-based moves. At the beginning of each round, the referee will (using a Random Number Generator) randomly select a number between one and ten. The number will correspond to these effects:

1 – White: the walls become white as light; Normal-based attacks will cause more damage than usual (150% of base damage).
2 – Red: the walls become red like the molten magma rivers; Fire-based attacks will cause more damage than usual, whilst Water and Ice-based attacks will cause less.
3 – Blue: the walls become blue like the peaceful oceans; Water and Ice-based attacks will cause more damage than usual, whilst Fire-based attacks will cause less.
4 – Green: the walls become green like the mysterious wood; Grass, Ground, Poison, and Bug-based attacks will cause more damage than usual.
5 - Yellow: the walls become yellow like the vibrant bolts of electricity; Electric and Flying-based attacks will cause more damage than usual, whilst Ground-based attacks will cause less.
5 – Pink: the walls become pink like the rose fields; Psychic-based attacks will cause more damage than usual, whilst Fighting-based attacks will cause less.
6 – Silver: the walls become silver, slightly reflecting everything in view; Steel, Rock, and Fighting-based techniques will cause more damage than usual, whilst Normal and Flying-based will cause less.
7 – Black: the color of the walls fades to a bitter nothingness; Dark and Ghost-based attacks will cause more damage than usual, whilst Psychic-based attacks will cause less.
8 – Turquoise: the color of the walls becomes mysterious and tranquil, like the dragons; Dragon-based techniques will cause more damage than usual, whilst all others will cause less.
9 – Gold: the walls sparkle like the daunting riches we cannot obtain; all attacks will require more energy to use.

Vermillion vs. drew

It happened in a flash. The moment the two trainers agreed on the arena of their Pokemon battle, their visions faded and went black. A few seconds later, they regained the ability to see and found themselves standing in a plain room - just four walls, a ceiling, a roof and nothing else. With a shrug, the trainers walked to the opposite ends of the room and sent out their Pokemon. The man named Vermillion called out a rather sinister looking Shiftry named after the Greek God of love, Eros. His opponent sent out Winden Sie Drachen, a Shelgon whose name means "Wind Dragon" in German. Suddenly, all 6 sides of the room began flashing bright colors, from red to blue to green to many more. The color of the room had a special effect on a Pokemon's attacks, so what color will the first round of this battle begin with? The trainers and their Pokemon will find out soon...

The walls of the room flickered for a while before turning a forest green. Eros started feeling quite comfortable in this surrounding.

Eros, being faster, opened his huge mouth and out shot severed small brown seeds. However, Winden executed his attack just in time to deflect the seeds. He was spin spin spinning around surprisingly fast for a Pokemon with stubby little legs. It lasted for a few seconds before the move subsided and Winden felt stronger and lighter on his feet.

Suddenly, the Shelgon rushed over with his front legs glowing green. Eros performed his own spinning move, using it in part as defense. With extremely quick reflexes, the Grass-type blocked Winden’s repeated swipes with his leafy hands. It was hard to boost his strength and deflect the attack at the same time though, so eventually, Eros took some minor damage from some swipes that he missed.

The two Pokemon stepped back from each other before launching their third moves. The Shiftry readied a ball of ghostly energy between his fronds. Suddenly, a stream of fire hit him in the chest, doing some rather heavy damage. Eros growled and fired his Shadow Ball, blasting Winden a few feet back.

The walls of the room flickered for a while before turning a shimmering gold.

Eros quickly used a combo move. Instead of firing seeds again at his dragon opponent, he held the seeds in his mouth then quickly vanished in midair. Winden was startled by this trick but did as his trainer commanded and spun around while spewing flames. Eros was trying to look for an opening but something about this room was making it very tiring to stay invisible for long. Finally, the Shiftry took a risk and charged into the flames, smacking Winden with his body. He fired the seeds out of his mouth but they were quickly burnt away by the Ember.

The frustrated Shiftry took a few steps back. Winden suddenly curled up and spun like a steamroller towards Eros. The grass-type gave his opponent a hard smack as he collided into him. This unbalanced the rolling dragon and he slammed into a wall, which broke him out of his Rollout.

Winden had one more turn left and rushed over to his opponent. He gave Eros several swipes and even though the damage would normally be light, Eros’s major weakness against Bug attacks meant this Fury Cutter was very painful.

The walls of the room reverted back to their plain whitestate.

Winden was about to perform his spinning power-up technique again. However, as soon as he saw the Leech Seeds flying towards him, he took a deep breath and fired multiple fireballs that burnt all the seeds in midair. Winden smiled as this was the third time that attack failed. But Eros was content since it was the plan all along to stop his opponent from becoming even stronger and faster.

As the Shelgon tried to relax, Eros opened his gaping mouth and out poured some rather harsh insults. Winden’s relaxation was ended early and his eyes glowed red in rage.

In his blind anger, Winden charged directly at Eros instead of obeying his trainer’s orders. He slammed into the Shiftry, doing some light damage. Meanwhile, Eros smashed his opponent’s shell with both arms in the same area as before, doing a bit more damage now and leaving a noticeable crack that weakened Winden’s physical defense.

The walls of the room flickered and turn bright red.

The Shiftry was about to boost its special side, but Winden was faster and went into an angry rant that was basically a response to the Grass-type’s insults during the previous round. Eros was so angry, that it charged at the dragon with a scary, enraged expression.

Winden was not intimidated by this. Instead, he spewed out flames again and for some reason, the flames were much larger and hotter this time. Eros ran into this trap and groaned as more of its vulnerable plant body was blackened by the fire. Nonetheless, the Shiftry charged through and tackled the Shelgon.

Apparently, the burn and the impact was enough to knock some sense back into Eros. Just then, the Shelgon ran forward and gave Eros another frenzy of swipes that caused some nastly cuts on the Shiftry’s body. Eros retaliated by shooting blue beams of psychic energy from his eyes. These weird beams struck the Shelgon in his own eyes, knocking him backwards and slightly impairing his vision.

The walls of the room flickered and turn bright red…again!

Winden, still a bit dazed from the last attack, decided that it was a good time to relax before his energy became depleted. As the Shelgon sat down, Eros grinned as this was the perfect opportunity to plant a Leech Seed. Finally, his attack had hit and small vines spread out all over the dragon’s round body.

Ignoring the plants encircling him, Winden took a deep breath and spewed out a stream of flames so large that even he was surprised at its power. Eros quickly split into 5 copies, and the fire attack was so powerful that it took out two of the Shiftry’s clones. Eros breathed a sigh of relief because that was a close call.

What Eros didn’t count on was how fast his opponent was. Due to his boosted speed and restored energy, Winden attacked with another massive Flamethrower faster than Eros can disappear in an attempt to Faint Attack. The fire move hit another two Shiftrys, hitting one clone and the real one! Eros fell back as he felt the flames scorch his plant body. Bearing an angry expression, he followed through with his Faint Attack and hit the unsuspecting Shelgon from behind.

Just then, the vines on Winden’s body glowed red as some health was sapped from him and transferred to Eros.

The walls of the room didn’t flicker at all. They remained the same red that they were last round.

Eros decided that he wanted Winden’s speed and what better move to use than Psych Up? However, he saw the Shelgon confidently approach and insult his honor as a fighter. This made the already angry Shiftry even more furious.

Eros went totally berserk and rushed at the Shelgon. Using his increased speed, Winden nimbly sidestepped the blindly charging Pokemon.

Now is when the real action takes place. The angry Shiftry leapt into the air and did a somersault that turned him into a large, rolling ball. He slammed into the side of Winden was all his might, doing increased damage due to his anger. But this was nothing compared to what the Dragon did. His entire body inflated as he took a deep breath and unleashed a huge five-pointed blast of fire. It was so powerful that Eros’s vision went white as the attack hit him. Next thing he knew, he was laying on the ground with scorch marks everywhere. But he was not done fighting yet.
