I think it should be stronger, more taxing on the pokemon, and limited use, I mean, it sounds from it's name like the pokemon has to dig down deep, possibly out of desperation to find/use this, once it's been used, it isn't very hidden anymore...then again, I do agree with the argument about Hyper Beam being able to be used more than Recovery moves, they should both be limited

Regarding Toxic in a gas form, perhaps it should be limited only to pokemon that can learn Poison gas itself. This leaves it to just Grimer, Muk, Koffing, Weezing, Drowzee, Hypno (dunno how it works for those two), Gulpin and Swalot.

In my opinion toxic is a globule of toxic goop. Poison gas and smog are gaseous clouds, and Poison Powder is something of a spore. It should stay as simple as that. There's no point having toxic work as a gas when poison gas and smog do exactly the same thing (except the difference in poison damage)

And as for Hidden Power, I think it should stay 'banned'. It's overcomplicated and will cause a LOT of confusion. There are better moves, after all.

Sure. Arbok has used it before.

It was pretty much a gob of poison goo though that might have been because it was Arbok. (spitting Cobra)
Dont think ive seen Wheezing use it but come on. Wheezing uses the same animation for about 6 different attacks.

Toxic MAY have been used by Arbok, as well as Acid, Poison Sting and even Body Slam. But usually the generic cloud of poison is smog, smokescreen or poison gas used by Weezing. I don't think Weezing has used it. No Pokemon learns Toxic naturally (IIRC) and TMs arent usually used in the anime.

I just think if Toxic is a glob of toxic goop, it should be restricted to that. The variations of toxic are present in other attacks. It's like saying rock throw and rock blast are similar to anyone who learns the former can learn the latter.

But here's the thing: we don't know if Toxic is only a goop. Its ingame description is "Poisons the foe with an intensifying toxin" - note a lack of describing its form. A toxin can very easily be in a cloud. It may look like a goop in recent games, but in RBY, it seemed to be delivered in a form more like rain - making me think it was originally intended to be delivered in an acid-rain-esque manner, as bizarre as that may seem.

Additionally, it's been used both ways in the anime, and we don't know how non-poison Pokemon would handle it. So, there's no reason to restrict it one way or the other.

Thats a fair point, but Stadium and Colloseum have it as a gloop. And the latest generation of games is usually the most accurate attack description as the creaters can 'update' how they want attacks to appear etc.

But - and here's the clincher - it's been shown as a cloud in the anime. Seeing as this is ANIME style battling, I see no reason to restrict something that actually has been seen in the show. If Arbok can breathe a cloud of Toxic, I see no reason why I can't tell one of my Pokemon to do the same.

I thought I had seen an eevee/eeveelution use toxic, or some goop it spit out that melted metal...maybe I'm halucinating...anyway, pokemon that don't know the gas poison attacks don't know them for a reason...oh and I have a question...

Since it is possible to get acid rain from clouds full of toxins, is it possible to create an acid rain combo of say smog/poison gas and rain prayer/dance?

I don't see why not. Ultimately it's down to how creative the battler can get with attack combinations, and how the ref would pull it off within the arena and with other things happening.

Does the user of Belly Drum actually lose HP, like in the game, I mean, half health is a bit much, but they are hurting themselves to get psyched up?

Belly Drum: The user slams its fists into its belly, mentally psyching itself up for battle. The user reaches a sort of battle frenzy, totally ignoring all defense in favor of crushing the opponent with highly-buffed attacks. This is the strongest attack buff in the game, but the user cannot even attempt to dodge or reduce damage from enemy attacks. Excellent accuracy.


There's no indication the user sacrifices HP, unlike Curse. From the description it seems to lower its defence to fully boost its attacks. It may also deal some damage to itself (3-5%) seeing as it 'slams its fists into its belly'. So it will, in short, take more damage from attacks in order to deal more damage itself.

Snatch (DK) – The user places a curse on the opponent which prevents them from using any recovery moves or status boosting attacks on themselves for the next few rounds. If the victim does use one, then the Snatch-er gains the benefits.

If the pokemon already used a stat boosting move, then I used snatch, would snatch take the benefits, or no?

Snatch works on attacks that are being used at the time, not ones that are already used.

Psyche Up is the one that gets you bonuses that have already been used.

Sketch: Sketch is used by a Smeargle immediately after an opponent uses another move. The move in question is immediately added to the Smeargle’s moveset until the end of the battle. The Smeargle’s art can provide whatever focus (club for Bone Club, for instance) or body shape (wing for Wing Attack, for instance) is necessary to perform the move, and ALL moves are susceptible to being Sketched. Period. Excellent accuracy.

can sketch be used to draw something, let's say wings, at the beginning of the battle, before the opponent even uses any moves? Like, I say, "Smeargle, draw yourself a pair of wings and fly"... is that possible or is it up to the ref or something?

Sketch is so versatile in that anything can be sketched easily by our favorite painter dog, including wings or bones and what-not.

I advise you to watch this battle between TheBlueAvenger and Knight of Time; TBA's smeargle, Mr. Carpainter, is used here in very interesting ways.

question:
How does Shedinja work?
in game, it only has 1 HP, and can be hurt by SE moves, or status ailments, spikes, hail, sandstorm, etc... I know someone in ASB has one, how exactly do we work it?

I don't think there's an exact answer to this but as far as I know, Shedinja has the same amount of HP in battle as everyone else - the 1 HP thing would be pointless here. And since we don't have abilities, I would think that all the attacks it's immune to would do normal damage to it

Yeah without abilities it's just a standard Bug/Ghost pokemon with any weaknesses it would normally have. If we introduce abilities, then we'd have to sit down and work out how it would work fairly. Giving a pokemon1% HP would be massivly unfair.

I have a question about Amnesia, can is be targeted at a specific attack with out it being used or being used at a different part of the battle? Or does it have to be right after a certain attack?

I believe it has to be right after the attack. In the anime, I believe Lorelei had Slowbro use Amnesia on Charizard and it froze him in place instead of him not using a specific attack

This should also state that using all of ones strength, expends energy at a much higher rate, shouldn't it, and all power up moves?

I don't know if that list can really be edited (AsHarris isn't around any more, is she?) but when I ref I usually have all power up moves cause extra energy use as long as they are in effect, yah. Unless its like Curse, where there is already a negative effect to it.

We should edit the 1st post of this with the copy and pasted information from ASHarris's webpage, that way we have ALL attacks in one place (maybe mix the Ru/Sa moves into the alphabetical list) and don't need to rely on a website.

In my opinion, I think we should first ask for ASHarris' permission as to whether or not the text from her ASB Attack List Beta page can be used here, but that's just my two cents.

In my book, you should never plagarize. I accidently did it one time in a class of mine when I was in high school, and I've learned my lesson from that ever since.
