About a battle I'm in with my Smergle...Rain is washing away my itens of choice, so I'm wodering can I Sketch my Smergles paint to be Oil Based to roll water away? Water proof even?

Not all refs would ref the sketchable things able to be washed away simply by rain. I know I wouldn't. But no, there's no real way to sketch the paint to make it oil-based.

How Does Smeargle work in ASB anyway? Id always assumed it just copied all the attacks that its opponent has. Though i guess that just means its a Ditto...

Sketch is so versatile in that anything can be sketched easily by our favorite painter dog, including wings or bones and what-not.

I advise you to watch this battle between TheBlueAvenger and Knight of Time; TBA's smeargle, Mr. Carpainter, is used here in very interesting ways.

The way it happened to me was that implements were washed away, but sketched moves (ie, your Smeargle Sketching, say, Extrasensory) remained. That way a Smeargle isn't totally incapacitated.

I'm having a little bit of trouble reffing Skill Swap...

Skill Swap (PS) – The user consumes a extreme amount of psychic energy to perform a sort of double Role Play, not only using Role Play on itself, but making the opponent have a characteristic of the user. The characteristic given to the victim is not chosen by the user.

When they say "Characteristic of the user" what sort of characteristic does that mean? The user is a Stantler, so what are the things that the "victim" can get in return? horns? fur? hoofs? o.o Erm, Stantler's "normal"ness? I'm not clear on Stantler's exchangeable characteristics.

Well I expect it all comes down to what the ref can imagine really. You may want to read some pokedex entries for Stantler, to see what characteristics it does have. *checks* OK without abilities, Stantler doesn't reallly have any qualities. So perhaps you could say that the pokemon becomes a bit more nimble on it's feet.

Yea look at a Pokemon or even look at its ingame stats to see what physical traits you could get. You could get stantlers speed, a Lairons defence, etc. Things like maybe the charm of a Delcatty, the attack of a Blaziken etc etc.

I haven't seen much of the anime lately, missed a lot of it after Ash arrived in Hoenn and just started watching it again recently... but anyway, these are some that I feel should be changed. Ones that have a * are based on seeing them in the anime, the rest are based on the games and on the premise of making them different from other similar attacks (I assume most of these haven't been shown in the anime, if they have someone else can chime in if they've seen that particular attack)

Spark: The user builds an electrical current around its body and rams the target. On contact, the target will be damaged by both the electric current and the force of the ramming. The electricity may cause loss of muscle control to the target. Moderate damage. Good accuracy.

Flame Wheel: Flames encircle the user, who then rams the opponent. The target suffers from both the fire and the force of the strike itself. Moderate damage. Good accuracy.

Ancient Power: The user utilizes an ancient force to surround itself with a number of rocks, and then charges the opponent. The rocks smash into the opponent as the user tackles them, doing both rock-type damage and normal damage from the force of the slam. In rare cases, the ancient force will remain with the user, giving them overall increased abilities for a short time. Moderate damage. Good accuracy.

*Aerial Ace: The user speeds through the air at blinding speed, straight for the opponent. The speed of the attack makes it virtually impossible to dodge, however the user moves in relatively straight line so it cannot be used to effectively dodge attacks. Slightly lower than moderate damage. Excellent accuracy.

*Petal Dance: The user fires off a barrage of flower petals at the target. The petals are propelled at a high speed, and also have edges that are quite sharp, causing a series of minor cuts to the target. Good damage. Good accuracy.

I know most of those mentioned ones are how I imagine the attacks anyway. Aerial ace could be changed for bird types,s ince they use it as a powerful divebomb (in the anime). Non-users could use it as a fast slash.

Some like Flame Wheel dont necessarily have to be a tackle, since in the games the user simply generates flames to wheel forward at the foe. I've used it to surround the foe as something of a barrier against attacks, like a shield before. Its open to creativity really but thats a standard description.

As for Petal Dance, god knows how it hurts the foe. It's a powerful attack though, literally a flurry of spiralling petals that deal damage really.

I think Petal Dance, in the game atleast, is like a grass typed Thrash. It counts as a physical strike (determined by the user taking damage from Sharpedo's Rough Skin). The user is surrounded by falling petals, is encouraged to dance, and in doing so strikes the enemy.

Struggle: The user struggles frantically. It may be able to extricate itself from the opponent’s grip, but if damage is desired there’s usually something better to use. Trivial damage. Moderate accuracy.

Is it actually possible to Struggle out of a Psychic grip? I mean if another Pokemon was holding you physically, that would be imaginable...but...if you were held by telekinesis or something?

I would imagine so. A moving target is slightly harder to concentrate on.

I would say it's near impossible to struggle out of a psionic grip, plus any kind of struggle should expend a high amount of energy.

Something I am noticing by being in the April contest, energy goes real quick, I think the regular matches should have more energy expansion, not many of the hugely tiring moves say so, except the recovery ones.

For a pshychic another mind would appear like a hugely bright light, now if we assume that a Pshycic Lock is the Pokemon's ability to See this mind and hold it in its gaze (psychically, ie not needing line of sight to know theyre there) then dancing around doing a Jim Carrey Impression screaming OOGABOOGA! isnt going to break it.

Pretty much any pokemon that has no Psychic ability with which to fight back would be helpless (look at the Sabrina Gym Battle with Pikachu vs Kadabra)
Of course this doesnt really work for ASB so something would need to be decided.

I think psychic can be broken. In the anime Grumpig used psychic to levitate Combusken, who attacked Grumpig directly (flamethrower) to rupture the pigs concentration. Similarly, screech or roar could also work.

I know a Psychic hold can be broken, if the Pokemon who has been caught in a Psychic hold struggles hard enough, they can break free (and possibly make the Psychic user use up more energy).

Also, I thought I should make a mention of Ice Ball, as to how I've seen it in the anime:

Ice Ball: The user sends a small ball of ice toward the opponent (think of rollling a bowling ball) which at first does a small amount of damage, but for each consecutive use of the move, the user will create a ball of ice bigger than the previous one, doing more damage than the last (so if the user used Ice Ball five consecutive times in a battle, the fifth one should be around the size of your average sized boulder, but it should still be possible for it to be broken or melted).

Anyone think this Ice Ball description (I'm mainly trying to base if off how Juan used the move as best as I can) might fit better?

Much better. I just saw the ASB Version and it confused me. I do agree the version used in the anime is better seeing as its a) basically an ice version of fury cutter/rollout and b) its like that in the games as well.

Protect: The user shields itself in a translucent sphere of energy, which is near-impenetrable. However, the more abuse this shield takes, the harder it is to maintain, so overuse can result in the shield failing at inopportune times. The ability operates slower each time it is used due to mounting fatigue, so if used repeatedly the chance that the user will be able to erect the shield in time, muchless maintain its integrity, falls dramatically. Protect also burns an unusual amount of fatigue, so caution is warranted. Excellent but decreasing accuracy

Can this be used on an ally? like put the shield on them?

I can't see the definition of teleport right now, but, is it possible to teleport something other than the user, like say a foe, or an object to fall on said foe?
It's been in the show, when Ash was saved from Sabrina, they all were teleported out, so I think it's possible...

Its possible, but most refs will only allow it with physical contact.

Like if you wanted to teleport an object, you'd have to have your pokemon grab/touch the object, and then both the object and the pokemon would teleport to the desired location.

Same with the opponent, have to grab/touch them in order to Teleport them.

Way back when, a lot of people would use a Teleport / Seismic Toss / Teleport combo. Grab the opponent and teleport into the air, toss them to the ground, and then Teleport yourself to safety.

I was around way back then(2001), I remember the gravijaa slam, I still use it today, evil Chansey...
although I used to do it with teleport, seismic toss, psychic to lower down safely...

I don't remember the ash Vs. sabrina, were they all touching?
We should go by the anime, more than the way Nightcrawler from X Men does it.
In the game, you can teleport to the last healing spot you used, I don't think you're holding your pokes hand when you do this, although the graphics will never show.

Jirachi was most deffinately not teleporting stuff it was holding from elsewhere to the carnival.

I've used teleport to move one of my own team mates to a different location, so I don't see why it would be any different to move an object. Perhaps moving an enemy would be more difficult, because they are more likely to resist being moved whre they don't want to go.

And yes, I do have the List saved, i'll copy it and repaste it here asap.

Hi, I've got a question regarding Thunder Wave (that also has to do with other Electric moves).

When a Pokemon has been paralyzed by a Thunder Wave, can any Electric attack used against the paralyzed Pokemon worsen its electrical paralysis? I seem to remember this happening to one of the opposing Pokemon in a battle of mine I had with Silencer that I lost to him.

No I dont think so. It makes sense but you could just deepen and deepen the paralysis until the Pokemon was physically incapable of moving.

However it could be used to paralyse a particular group of muscles (say, Vigoroths arms or Machamps legs)

Well, I thought of if the pokemon(foe) being teleported is a surprise, they wouldn't have time, or awareness to fight it.

Since all Electric attacks have a small chance of paralysis, I think there can be instances where the use of them would cause further paralysis. But only if the attacks are quite intense. A regular thunder shock might not, but a full on Thunder could deepen the paralysis, or atleast bring it to the surface. However, using Thunder Wave more than once would definatly cause further paralysis.

On Teleport, I guess if you command second you could teleport an opponent and it would be a surprise, but not if you make your intentions known.

Now then, I've reposted the RBYGSC Attack list, but craftily editing it into Iveechan's and Becca's first posts in the thread, just after the RS list. Since their actual posts were pretty much pertaining to the RBYGSC list, I didn't see any harm, and it was easier than sticking it here in the middle of the thread. A few minor changes:

I've put a proper description in for Mud Slap, albeit the same one as Sand Attack but made the difference of one being wet, and the other dry.

Clear Skies I've got rid of, and made the description for Sunny Day clearer (such as it's use at Night), same goes for Rain Prayer / Rain Dance (with regards to Electric attacks)

I've added a game based description for Perish Song

Hi, I have a couple of new questions I'd like answers to, please.

Firstly, if Hail is in effect in a battle, can it damage Water or Ice types (I believe it can't harm Ice types in the games, just like Sandstorm has no effect on Rock, Ground and Steel types) that are in battle?

Secondly, if a Pokemon has Double Team clones, and it (or another Pokemon) uses Mist or Haze, will the clones be lost?

Hail hurts non-ice types in game, but in ASB I think it should deal a specific % to all types, same as sandstorm. Being of an ice type doesnt stop the hail hitting you, and in my reffings I say they deal damage to whoever is around (unless underground/water/whatever)

As for mist/haze affecting clones, I'd say no, because they are a vapor-like cloud, and the particles are not big enough to diminish the clones. Hail or Sandstorm would however.
