Bryant hovered in the air feeling pretty good about himself as the Absol struggled to move. Powering up, Bryant’s body crackled with intense electric energy as he then unleashed his power [ - 13 Energy ] upon the Absol. Absol gave out a sharp cry as the electricity enveloped him [ - 15 Life ].
Absol’s body still was quite paralyzed, although the attack was enough to snap him out of confusion. Glaring intensely at Bryant, he managed to strike a menacing Leer [ - 10 Energy ] . Bryant staggered a bit in the air [ Defense lowered ] but swiftly he prepared his next attack and charged up yet again.
Crackling electricity once again seemed to consume his entire body as he charged at Absol and collided into his body, sparking electricity all around the area as he did so [ - 14 Energy | - 20 Life ].
Absol struggled to rise to his feet, although his body barely moved as he slowly did so. Glaring slightly, Absol had a little bit of will left as he focused and the wind began to pick up. [- 15 Energy ]. Ignoring the wind, Bryant unleashed a sharp and grinding screeching noise [ - 10 Energy] which instantly lowered Absol’s defense as he flattened his ears.
However, as soon as Bryant was done, the wind roared to life and rushed straight into Bryant. Bryant held his own against the wind, although the hit was slightly critical and far more powerful than before. [ - 20 Life]. When the attack was complete, Absol’s paralysis seemed almost complete as his forelegs buckled beneath him, while Bryant seemed to breathe heavily as exhaustion was starting to settle in.

The Absol faded into a glowy red aura and instantly seemed to be sucked inside of the small spherical contraption. The pokeball plopped onto the ground, twitched once, twice… and then “pling!” it announced its capture!

What luck! The first Pokemon I encountered was a rare Absol! Everyone who I'll see from now on will be pretty jealous. Our battle had taken place right in front of the opening of the Cissuhan Tunnel. It was dark, but Bryant still had enough strength from the last battle to illuminate the way. We proceeded through the tunnel with little trouble. We disturbed a couple of Zubat but they flew away.

Coming out on the other side of the tunnel, the beautiful site of Whentre greeted me. I returned Bryant, giving him the hard-earned rest he needed. I decided to climb down the hill rather than take the conventional path. I saw a couple of Diglett going up the opposite hills and their chant of,
"Diglett-Dig-Diglett-Dig-Diglett,"
could be faintly heard.

I descended down into the town and decided to deposit Bryant and my new Absol at the Pokemon Center. I then released Alexei from his Pokeball to let him stretch his legs and opened my bag to get some water out. Thankfully, my mother had decided to pack me some sandwiches, which I decided to eat, and gave a couple to Alexei, who liked them and began jumping up and down,
"Snorunt! Snorunt!"
With my Pokemon in the Pokemon Center, I returned Alexei and went to the PokeMart to buy some more Pokeballs.

Okay Taillow we can't expect this Pokemon to just lay down and allow itself to be catched so lets start off on the defensive and use a [i] Double Team! Next lets take the attack to the Scyther and go after it with a Quick Attack! Finally lets show it the power of a bird Pokemon and attack it with a Aerial Ace! That should give that Scyther some damage!.

Taillow instantly began to fly about as he took flight above the Scyther. The Scyther seemed a bit aloof as it completely ignored the flying pokemon. However, when Taillow used Double Team [ - 10 energy ], the Scyther’s head turned and he narrowed his eyes lightly. Multiple images of Taillow appeared all about, but with a grimacing leer [ - 15 Energy ], Taillow’s defense dropped [Defense Down]. Despite being slightly shaken, Taillow swiftly swooped down and landed a Quick Attack blow upon the Scyther’s chest. [ - 12 Energy | - 14 Life ]. This was enough to cause Scyther to stagger backwards, but in anger he spiraled his scythes around and managed to knick the real Taillow with a Slash, sending Taillow bashing backwards. [ - 20 Energy [b]| - 20 Life ]. Taillow seemed a bit shaken up by this, but with a further resolve he flew up high into the sky and then swiftly flew downwards to complete Aerial Ace. Wind seemed to spiral about his body as he swooped around Scyther several times, and then landed an even more devastating blow upon the back of Scyther’s head. [ - 20 Energy | - 25 Life ]. Scyther gave a cry of pain, but whirled around she instantly seemed more peeved than before. Scyther slowly began to swirl about a bit, moving his Scythes around in an almost dance-like state. ( Sword Dance). When he was finished, he glared straight at the Taillow with a firey look in his eyes. [ - 12 Energy ].

Taillow gave a shrill-like cry as he flew into the air and then dove downwards straight at Scyther. Scyther narrowed her eyes and almost seemed to prepare herself to get hit. Taillow instantly bashed into Scyther with its wings, causing the bug pokemon to stagger back slightly. [ - 12 Energy | - 17 Life ]. Scyther gave out a low growl… and his flame-like eyes glared straight towards Taillow as he suddenly flapped his wings upon his back swiftly. Darting back and forth, Scyther easily raised his speed with Agility. [ - 10 Energy]. Taillow, a bit flustered by the new speed of Scyther, lowered himself to the ground and using the force of his wings prepared to slap mud into the air to temporarily blind Scyther. [ - 10 Energy ]. However, due to Scyther’s new speed… it failed and missed the bug pokemon rather easily. Scyther gave out a cry and charged straight at the now-easily-attainable Taillow and swiftly slashed and landed a large blow upon Taillow. [ - 20 Energy | - 22 Life (+ Sword Dance)]. After steadying himself, Taillow slowly flew up into the air although he was a big shaken by the large slash attack. Taillow then swooped back down straight at Scyther, aiming a powerful Aerial Ace [ - 15 Energy ] as wind picked up and spiraled around the bird pokemon. Scyther was more prepared for the attack, and he swiftly moved to dodge the attack as Taillow missed and only managed to knick Scyther upon one of his arms. [ - 5 Life]. Recoiling, Scyther swiftly turned around and back swung for a Quick Attack to hit Taillow once more- sending him upwards a bit into the air. [ - 12 Energy | - 10 Life ].

Hearing the reassuring words of his master, Taillow gave a weak nod as he flew around a few times while preparing to use one of his last attacks against the tired Scyther. Swooping down low, Taillow gathered speed as he swiftly crashed straight into the Scyther’s chest for a Double Edge attack. The speed was surprising for even Taillow, causing a slight glowing cyan aura until he finally made contact with the giant bug pokemon. [ - 15 Energy | - 20 Life ][ - 10 Life ]. Taillow gave out a slight cry as he struggled to rise into the air- the attack having some recoil on him as well. His energy was nearly depleated. Scyther attempted to swing at Taillow yet again, but he nearly collapsed upon the ground. Taillow gave a cry and made an attempt to screech… however it failed, due to the fact that Scyther was not paying much attention. Ryan still threw the pokeball, and Scyther could not help but allow it to make contact with her body as she was engulfed by the red aura. The pokeball landed upon the ground, wiggled a little bit… and within one… two… ping! Scyther was caught.

The ball hits the ground, exploding in a sea of white light before the groggy cubone takes a few steps outward. His adversary this time is a much trickier foe, but I imagine he'll have no qualms.

Round 1

The grass sways gently in the grassy fields as an unsuspecting Girafarig is suddenly drawn into battle, and her opponent turns out to be a Cubone, who, despite looking a little battered, still present a menacing sight.

Not hesitating, she runs forward, rears up into her black hindquarters, and, her forefeet glowing slightly, she lands down with a solid thump onto Tai’s skull(9% - Tai, 3% - Girafarig). Though shaken by the sudden impact onto his head, Tai remains stolid, and his growl soon fills the air(2% - Tai).

Somewhat intimidated, Girafarig wastes no time in backing away, her eyes slightly dilated. Taking this opportunity, Cubone rushes forward, gathering momentum, and he slams his bone down, hard, onto her rather tender body(10% - Girafarig, 4% - Tai).

The strange Girafarig tail turns to grin at Tai, and a strange beam is shot out, which hits Tai head on as Girafarig keeps her distance(9% - Tai, 4% - Girafarig). He feels rather confused and disorientated, not aware that this was a side effect of the psychic attack.

Still not willing to go near Tai, Girafarig sends some Psychic waves that further confuse the Cubone(7% - Tai, 3% - Girafarig)

Suddenly unsure of his next move, Tai just looks around, puzzled.

Ryan Karrde VS Kalah Byquest
Battle in the Vallely

Kalah Byquest smiled as she watched Ryan settle himself not too far from her. They had been waiting all this time to meet... and now in celebration, they were going to battle it out to test eachother's strengths. Kalah was quite eager with this idea in mind, knowing fully well that this battle was going to be tough. She remembered a little about Ryan talking about his prized pokemon... and she had done the same as well.
"Ready Ryan?" Kalah called out teasingly, "You can always back out."
Ryan gave a smirk and grabbed one of his pokeballs as if to answer. Kalah looked down at her side at Shade, who never had been in a pokeball for as long as she had been with Kalah. Looking up with her brilliant ice-bitten blue eyes, Shade seemed to give almost a smile. Shade wasn't one for being overly excited... she was calm, collected and held an "inner" eager battle spirit. Her strange, violet-colored rings almost glowed as the sun started to disappear over the horizon.

Ryan and Kalah had agreed to meet half way, and upon calling Kalah, Ryan had found out that she was in a valley not too far away from the pokemon center they were supposed to meet at. He had decided to continue walking along her route until they had met... and finally they had. They were in quite a beautiful valley at that. Lush green grass seemed to go on for miles and there were only a couple trees near them and dotting in the distance. A small, marsh-like stream seemed to cut into the valley a little bit... as if offering refreshments to those who dwelled near. A few pockets of dry dust seemed to splotch the ground here or there, as if being a home for an underground pokemon at one point in time or another. It also was dusk... the sun setting slightly over the horizon, casting a brilliant red-golden glow upon everything.
"Let's get this thing started..." Kalah said with a grin, eagerly awaiting Ryan to start the battle.





[ Okay, the place of battle is in a typical valley and the time is the beginning of dusk. Roy Karrde and I need a ref, so a ref would be highly appreciated. Roy Karrde is sending out first. Let us goooooooo... ]

[color=lightblue]'Alright Kalah, you are so going down'. That is what I wanted to say, of course there were many things that I wanted to say to her. First being that she was more beautiful than I had ever imagined. I shook my head trying to get her out of my head. Two days of walking and here I was, facing my pen pal. I could tell her those things later, that I thought she was beautiful, and that I hoped we could travel together. Now I had to focus on the battle. "Here we go Kalah!" I shouted back, clutching the smooth ball in my left hand.

Rearing back like a pitcher I twisted around and threw the ball forward. "Chammpion * not a spelling error *, GO!" I shouted as life sprung forth from the Pokeball, materializing in the shape of a large red dragon. The dragon being my Charizard: Chammpion. "Alright Kalah, Your move!" I added as I prepared for the insuing battle.

Kalah smiled lightly as she watched Ryan confidently throw his pokeball and summon his pokemon, Chammpion. Shade seemed to instantly stand up, bunching up her muscles as if ready to be summoned for this fight but swiftly Kalah wavered her hand in front of Shade. Still staring at Ryan, she smiled... as if knowing some thing.
"No... not yet Shade. You're being saved..."
With that, Kalah took the pokeball that was attached to a necklace around her neck, and detached it. Swiftly the pokeball enlargened, and with a slight toss she threw the pokeball to the ground. Instantly as the pokeball made contact with the ground, it released in a hurry the pokemon that was inside. Instantly a large dog-like pokemon appeared with a sparkle of electricity echoing about his body.
"Xvin, you have a worthy opponent this time..." Kalah said teasingly, as Xvin seemed to instantly focus his eyes upon the large Charizard. Sensing the mood of the Charizard and this battle, Xvin seemed to dig his claws into the dirt and lower his head a bit to the ground.
"Alright Xvin, let's do this! First... let's get ready with Calm Mind to get some focus on this battle field. Then, let's make this day to our advantage by summoning the rain with Rain Dance! As soon as the rain begins to fall... announce your presence with a powerful Thunder!"
Xvin seemed to give a nod, settling his eyes upon the Charizard.

[color=lightblue]My hands began to tremble as the battle started, how could I possibly beat my friend in battle? I shook my head and tried to keep my mind calm. "Alright Chammpion! Start off with a Earthquake." I comanded. I watched as Kalah's Pokemon prepared for the Calm Mind and then followed with a Rain Dance. "Chammpion! Fly in and hit her Pokemon with Aerial Ace while she is prepairing the storm." I yelled out my second command and then realized what she was planning to do.

"Chammpion get ready for a Electric attack so use Defence Curl to protect yourself" I added as I stood ready for what ever Kalah was going to throw at me. She may be my friend but I had to put any notions of friendship aside for the battle.

I’ll be your ref today! ^_^ I’m coming in as one of my RPG characters, and she’ll be a “spectator” of sorts, and she’ll have a handheld device that shows the stats of the Pokemon battling. I might add in more of my characters later, just to entertain myself =P

I’m trying to ref RPG style(??), a change from my normal ASB reffing, but if both of you don’t like it, it’ll be pretty simple to switch back to the usual type. =)

Are there damage caps? I’m reffing as if there are, if there aren’t, I’ll edit and increase the damage. Oh, and do feel free to criticise my reffing, I do tend to make errors. >.<

Dusk was falling upon the lands, and the strange orange glow of the sun was slowly disappearing. Craven, a rather petite girl whose most striking feature was her long, pale blonde hair with shocking electric pink highlights, had been wandering around this area, when she chanced upon two Pokemon trainers about to begin a battle. She had only taken a quick glance at the trainers, a tall guy and a very pretty girl – it was their Pokemon who caught her eye.

On one side, a large Charizard stood up on its hind legs, wings outstretched, and its jaw half open to show its vicious teeth. However, it was the other Pokemon that made Craven gasp it shock.

It couldn’t be…could it? She sat down on the grass nearby, and fumbled through her backpack quickly, and pulled out a slim, rectangular device that had three silver lights running down its front, a large screen and a keypad. One of her tech savvy WOOHP pals had designed and

She lifted up the device and pointed it at the Pokemon, and very soon, she had the readings. She gazed down at the screen and her suspicions were confirmed.


Pokemon species: Raikou
Pokedex entry Raikou embodies the speed of lightning. Its roars send shock waves shuddering through the air and ground as if lightning bolts were crashing down.

The information continued scrolling, showing the list of attacks, recommended battle strategies and a whole load of useful stuff that her pal had incorporated in, but right then, Craven was a little thunderstruck by the Pokemon name that she had just seen.

“OHMYGOSH!” she said aloud. It really was the Legendary Pokemon. She wondered how had the girl gotten her hands on one, and she suspected that it wasn’t easy. Probably had to go through some massive testing process and whatnot.

Just to reconfirm, Craven moved the PokeReader over towards the Charizard, and it gave her the reading.

She scrolled manually down to its stats, and gave a low whistle. “Impressive.” It was a pretty well trained Pokemon, and had been brought up well.

"Alright Xvin, let's do this! First... let's get ready with Calm Mind to get some focus on this battle field. Then, let's make this day to our advantage by summoning the rain with Rain Dance! As soon as the rain begins to fall... announce your presence with a powerful Thunder!" the girl commanded confidently to the Raikou. She said it quite softly, so that her opponent could not hear, but as the wind had been blowing towards her, Craven heard every word.

Xvin, Craven presumed, stood perfectly still, and his face was a picture of perfect serenity. The boy, whose hands were trembling, as Craven was amused to note, said in a rather uneasy tone, “Alright Chammpion! Start off with a Earthquake."

The large Charizard slammed a fist down onto the ground, and he concentrated. Barely seconds later, Craven could feel the tremors building up beneath her feet. Earthquake a mechanical voice informed her. The shuddering of the ground intensified, and she could see that the two trainers were having some trouble staying on their feet.

The Raikou, jolted out of his meditation, found the ground below him cracking up and a large break in the ground caused him to fall into a hole a few feet deep, and a low cry of pain escaped his mouth.

Satisfied, Chammpion spread his great wings and took to the skies, and Craven got to her feet to look at the Raikou that was slowly clambering out of the hole. He looked a little stiff, but there were no visible outer injuries. He started swaying, and Craven watched in amazement as it performed what looked like a slow, majestic dance.

The boy gasped, obviously realising the Raikou’s intentions. "Chammpion! Fly in and hit her Pokemon with Aerial Ace while she is prepairing the storm,” he yelled.
The large Charizard suddenly swooped down, both his wings glowing, and he slammed them down onto Xvin, knocking the electric legendary back a few paces.

However, the rains had already been called, and dark clouds soon appeared in the sky. Craven looked up, and frowned. It would start pouring soon. She sighed. This was an interesting battle, but was it worth getting all wet for?

Pondering for a while, she almost missed the next attack, had not the boy called out, "Chammpion get ready for a Electric attack so use Defence Curl to protect yourself"

She turned her attention immediately back, and was just in time to see the Charizard fold his wings around himself, tucking head and claws in and curling up.

Xvin, little sparks of electricity playing across his body, clearly in his element, concentrated, and the dark clouds above responded, booming ominously. Almost without warning, a huge clap of lightning bolted down from the heavens, striking accurately down onto the curled up Charizard, with a flash that caused red spots to appear in front of Craven’s eyes.

She blinked furiously to clear up her vision, and when she could finally see again, all that was left to see was Chammpion, uncurled, and twitching, lying on his back, and Xvin, watching rather emotionlessly.

“PokeReader,” she began, but it beat her to it.

”Xvin, Raikou.” it said mechanically. “Health is 82%, Energy left is 87%, Current status: Calm, and feeling very confident.”

“What about Chammpion?” she asked.

”Chammpion, Charizard. Health is 87%, Energy left is 88%, Current status: Suffering from nerve damage, partially paralysed.”

Craven settled back down onto the grass, and smiled a little to herself. This would probably prove to be quite an interesting battle. Overhead, the stormclouds gave another roll of thunder, and the rain started to fall, pelting down. Chammpion’s fiery tail sizzled slightly as the water touched it and evaporated, but the flame continued to burn, signifying that the Charizard was still healthy.

[color=lightblue]My body shook from the heat of the battle as rain dripped down from my hair, down my cheek and off onto my arms. We were winning, and that was a good thing...well possibly a good thing. If I beat Kalah, she may be pissed at me for days, if not weeks. "Chammpion! Watch out for that Lightning and use a Double team to confuse the opponent." I shouted calling out my first command. I waited for the reaction before wiping a few drops of rain off my forehead. It was time for this battle to get close and deadly. "Chammpion head straight in and hit it with a Focus Punch." I commanded sending Chammpion in closer to give the Raikou a direct hit.

"Alright Chammpion you're doing good, finish it off with a Mega Kick!" I yelled over the sound of pouring rain as the battle moved on to it's second round.

Kalah narrowed her eyes, being slightly perturbed... the Calm Mind should have offered more power upon Raikou's thunder attack, with the added rain... "Come on Xvin, you can do better then that! Show this big lizard why you're legendary!" She said with confidence, throwing her fist to the air. Seeing the Charizard go into Double Team... trying to confuse Raikou with the appearance of many different Charizards, immediately Kalah's mind went into action.
"Alright Xvin... he thinks he can confuse us? Let's see him dodge this... use Shock Wave! He seems to be a bit shaken up or paralyzed, and with the added rain... I'm guessing your electrical attacks are going to be hard to defeat. So let's keep that electricity about your body... power up for a Thunderbolt and follow it up with the power of the storm with a Thunder!" Raikou seemed to nod his head, digging his feet into the ground as his body seemed to spark and crackle with electricity.
