Well now people can't complain Pokemon is childish!![]()
is it just me, or are pokedex entries REALLY...well...VIOLENT this time around? let's look at some examples.
aggron : "it mercilessly beats up anybody that violates its environment."
gorebyss : "it is [also] very cruel... this pokemon inserts its thin mouth into the prey's body and drains the pray of its body fluids."
luvdisk : "it is incredibly violent, ripping its prey to shreds." (not really. just checking if you were paying attention.)
glalie : "after immobilizing its foe in ice, this pokemon enjoys eating it in a leisurely fashion." (!!!!)
cacturne : "if a traveler is going through a desert in the thick of night, cacturne will follow in a ragtag group. the pokemon are biding their time, waiting for the traveler to tire and become incapable of moving."
sharpedo : "just one of these pokemon can tear apart a supertanker." (shiny sharpedo = whoahwhoahwhoahtoocool.)
dustox : "this dust is actually a powerful poison that will make even a pro wrestler sick." (pro wrestler? random.)
sceptile : "it jumps on its foe from above or behind."
blaziken : "these pokemon's blazing punches leave its foe scorched and blackened."
so yeah. i just noticed this. XP

I guess Pokemon is heading towards the violence trend in video games.
Metagross: When hunting, this pokémon pins the prey to the ground under its massive body. It then eats the helpless victim using the large mouth on its stomach.
Ha, I'd laugh it that truly was Luvdisc's entry.
Anyway, yeah, maybe they're realising that we fans are getting older, and can handle more serious entries than "this pokémon dances to summon the sun" and other such Tellytubby entries.
lol... it would be funny if...
geodude "one of geodudes favorite pastimes is shooting eachother out of cannons at old ladies"
well, the whole thing DOES center around battling, that's pretty violent when you get right down to it. Lots of slicing and dicing and frying and acid spit and disintegrating eyebeam action going on.
Plus they're basically animals, and animals do kill eachother a lot...
Adding my two cents, has anyone noticed how annoyingly wordy or how oddly worded the 'dexes are this time around? It really bothers me how they bend and twist words in ways that don't make very much sense. Lastly, some of the 'dexes are much too short! The blank line or two looks horrible, methinks. I wish they would have stuck with the shorter R/B/Y/G/S/C 'dexes - at least those versions could pick a topic/behavior from a Pokémon and stick with it.
Whoa...weird...a spider just starting climbing up my mouse cord...I think I'll name him Tinkle...
Instead, R/S randomly picks things about the Pokémon, for ex.
Bulbazard likes to pick flowers in the garden, but gets sad when the electricity bill is too high.
I know that's an exaggerated example, but just look at some of the 'dexes!
Gligar_man: I imagine Geodude cannoning themselves at old ladies now....LMAO! XD *imagines her brother's Geodude cannoning himself at her English Teacher*
Here's what I call a violent Ninetales:
"Don't mistaken Ninetales for its beauty...It can grow claws and swipe fire at the enemy...." XD
...I'm not dead yet!
No matter how hard I try, I still cannot picture Pokemon preying and eating each other. Pidgeotto eating Magicarp.. Linoone eating Rattata.. ew..
In a "letter to the editor" at pokemon.com I read a statement by one of the nintendo exec. He said, "the games bring in the older crow while the anime brings in the younger crowd." That must be why the dex entries are getting more violent.Originally posted by The Rusted One

Who cares if the entries are violent. Pokémon are violent, they love fighting each other and leaving the other one fried or something. Violent creatures deserve violent enclyopedia information.
