    Strong Pokémon.
    Weak Pokémon.
That is only the selfish perception of people.
Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites.
I like your style. You understand what's important. Go on—the Champion is waiting."

As Steve was on his way out, Karen spoke up again. "Oh, by the way...is your last name really Montoya?"
Steve smirked. "It was either that or Inigo Steve. I think I made the right choice, don't you?"
Karen laughed. "Good luck, Steel Master."
"And the same to you, Dark Master."

The long, slow training at Sprout Tower finally paid off, and proved worth it. I am the Johto Champion, and I didn't have to resort to switching out my HMers to do it. If Karen's Houndoom failed to defeat me, Blaine won't stand a chance either by the time I reach him, I'm sure. My adventures at last will continue...but just for now, I'm calling it a day. See you next time!

    Kanto Badge Progress: OOOOOOOO

I picked up the S.S. Ticket from Prof. Elm (he said something about catching pokémon in Kanto. Um, okay, sure.) The ride from Olivine to Vermilion was eventful, and I wound up with another Metal Coat...but I decided the two party members with Steel attacks were better off with what they already had, so I deposited it.
After landing in Vermilion, I headed over to the Gym and made the whole place into Steelix Chow.
    Kanto Badge Progress: OOXOOOOO
After that, I headed north to Saffron, discovered I couldn't do the Copycat's Doll sidequest until completing the Power Plant sidequest, shrugged and wiped the floor with Sabrina and all of her gym trainers.
    Kanto Badge Progress: OOXOXOOO
I decided I'd head to the Power Plant by way of Lavender Town and Rock Tunnel. Since I knew I'd end up in Cerulean later, this route let me cover more ground and beat up more trainers for cash and EXP.
I made a quick detour to Celadon and picked up a Leftovers, then battled my way through Routes 8 and 10 into Rock Tunnel. I visited the Power Plant, then picked my way west along Route 9, carefully battling everyone despite the realization halfway through that I would be coming back this way later. What can I say, I'm thorough. In Cerulean I cornered the bad guy, had a laugh at his accent ("Do what should I now on from, me?"), grabbed the Machine Part and then headed back to deliver it.

    L18FIRE and RAINL21
FIRE: Dig, Cut, Rock Smash, Strength
    RAIN: Surf, Thief, Whirlpool, Waterfall

Next: /finishes writing, sets down Magic Marker/ I've got a Magneton with Misty's name on it.

So I defeated Misty with a quick Thunderbolt action by Envy. Following up towards Pallet town, I surfed down defeating all trainers, sweeping Blaine with Lust (yes a Miltank!) and surfing back up towards Fushia defeating the trainers on the way.

PS: Lust finally learned Heal Bell! Hurray!

After that I defeated Blue in a good match and talked to Oak who opened Mt.Silver for me ^^

Ready to smash Red, I won't do any extra training, but I'll see if I can make it or not. Expect updates ^_^

    Name: Steve
    Type: Steel

    Kanto Badge Progress: OOXOXOOO

I marched up Routes 24 and 25, defeated all the trainers and crashed Misty's date (does Bill know people are using his front yard as a dating spot? Heck, does his grandfather know?) Then I went back down to the city and Magnetoned everyone.
    Kanto Badge Progress: OXXOXOOO
Then I flew over to Celadon and had Scizor and Skarmory take care of Erika's Gym.
    Kanto Badge Progress: OXXXXOOO
Finally, I returned to Vermilion and tried to wake up Snorlax. Only then did I remember that, even though you can hear the Kanto Pokémon Music station and that stupid Places & People program just fine, you need a whole separate radio card to tune into the Pokéflute Marathon. Grumbling all the way, I flew back to Lavender, picked up the EXPN card, went back to Vermilion and finally woke up Snorlax.
I led with Rain and swiped Snorlax's Leftovers. Snorlax replied with a Body Slam that left a Poliwag-shaped hole in the ground; this failed to surprise me. In went Steelix, who used an Earthquake that took off a little over half Snorlax's life. Snorlax replied with...Rollout. Steelix lost a single hit point and then finished the job with one more Earthquake.

    Team:

    Magneton L54
    Thunderbolt, Swift, Flash, Thunder Wave

    Steelix L54
    Headbutt, Earthquake, Screech, Rock Throw

    Skarmory L55
    Steel Wing, Fly, Sand-Attack, Swift

    Scizor L55
Wing Attack, Metal Claw, Double Team, Fury Cutter

    L18FIRE and RAINL21
FIRE: Dig, Cut, Rock Smash, Strength
    RAIN: Surf, Thief, Whirlpool, Waterfall

Next: Diglett DIG, Diglett DIG, *pummel pummel pummel*

    Update:

    Character: Maggie
    Type: Normal
Reason: Cuz y wanna defeet Amaruu!1!1 (seriously I want to do Normal aswell and get through it with different pokemon)
    Progress:

So I faced Red the first time and lost. My pokemon were all l.55. I decided to some League-training and did so.

After a good hour or two, my pokemon were l.62, so I decided to give Envy one last run, because she raised so easy. So she came out l.69 after ONE League-strike.

Then I went over to Goldenrod city and bought as many drugs as possible. Red was ready to be crushed.

Pikachu: Lickitung made short work of him. 2 EQ's.

Espeon: Snorlax got one Shadowball in, making Espeon fall to 48%. One Body Slam from Miltank was enough to finish the job.

Snorlax: A lucky Dynamicpunch from Miltank followed up by some Body Slams AND a hit-itself-in-confusion.

    Venusaur: Icebeam, Icebeam, dead. Hurray!

    Charizard: Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt, dead. Hurray!

    Blastoise: THunderbolt, Thunderbolt, dead. Hurray!

Red was defeated! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

    Final Pokemon Team:

    Wrath | Ursaring [M]
    Level 62
    *Return
    *Earthquake
    *Rest
    *Snore
    >> This a just a beast. AWESOME attack (somewhere about 220 IIRC), Defense and I just forgot to give him Sleeptalk. A must for all teams.

    Lust | Miltank [F]
    Level 62
    *Dynamicpunch
    *Heal Bell
    *Milk Drink
    *Body Slam

    >> Great pokemon, no doubt. The only fast thing on my team, she did a hell of a job.

    Envy | Clefable [F]
    Level 70
    *Icebeam
    *Thunderbolt
    *Psychic
    *Thunderwave

    >> This pokemon was my dream! She could sweep the entire League with super-effective moves, didn't need much EXP points to raise a level AND was boosted because she came from Blue. Awesome. Boltbeam is your friend.

    Greed | Lickitung [M]
    Level 55
    *Swordsdance
    *Earthquake
    *Body Slam
    *Icebeam

    >> Not to pleased about this one. He's great for ingame, but can't do much without a SD boost. Still a pretty cool pokemon, especially for an UU team.

    Level 50
    Sloth | Snorlax [M]
    *Shadowball
    *Rest
    *Body Slam
    *Snore

    >> Awesome pokemon, but I didn't really train it.

I finished the Normal Challenge! Hurray! Going to link over my pokemon and restart for a new one...Later, first I'll have to get past my exams

It was fun, I hope many people follow this example and play the MTC. Now that would be cool, would it? :p

I hiked through Diglett's Cave and picked up tons of items in "Viridian Forest" (a.k.a. just another part of Route 2. ) Heading north, I used Steelix' Earthquake to level Brock's Gym. 'Twas the height of arrogance, I imagine, using a Steelix against pokémon with strong Ground and Water attacks, but I can't say for certain because the only move used on me in that Gym was Slash, from the junior trainer's Sandslash.
    Kanto Badge Progress: XXXXXOOO
With that taken care of, I strolled along Route 3, battling everyone as usual, and then ducked into Mt. Moon. Waiting for me was that old nuisance Kyle, now apparently a bit less of a nuisance. He was also a bit less of a challenge than I was expecting; his pokémon, all in the low 40s, all went down in a single move. I continued up into Mt. Moon Square, eager for the chance to buy Lemonades in bulk...and was brutally reminded that the shop is only open during the day. I was six minutes too late. With a sigh, I passed on through and cleared out the trainers on Route 4.
Being the completionist I am, I next headed back down to Vermilion City and battled everyone on Routes 11, 12 (picking up the Super Rod for no reason at all), 13, 14 and 15. Arriving in Fucshia City, I waltzed into Janine's Gym and had Scizor trash the place.

First of all, I finished my circuit of southern Kanto by defeating everyone on Routes 18, 17 and--hang on a minute, there aren't actually any trainers on Route 16, are there? Anyway, having done that, I flew back to Fuchsia, headed down Route 19--and walked straight into a boulder. I coulda sworn those got cleared after...some milestone I'd already passed, like making it to Pewter or something...oh well.
I flew to Pewter, then hiked south to Pallet and rode a Poliwag down to Cinnabar (ever stop to think about that? Seriously? How many of you have ridden on the backs of Pidgey a hundred feet in the air? /raises hand/ ) After chatting with Blue, I went east, making sure to use Steelix' Headbutt on the trainers; I'd need the Earthquake PP later.
Finally, I arrived at the temporary home of Blaine, the Hot-Headed Quiz Master. He...uh, wasn't in the mood for quizzes... (Quote: "Waaah!" Later quote: "Waaah!") My challenge seemned to cheer him up a bit.
He led with Magcargo. A very slow species, with a 4x weakness to Ground. 'Nuff said.
His Magmar was faster than Steelix, though, and opted for Sunny Day. That worried me; it greatly improved his chances of decking me with one fire attack. Magmar fell to a single Earthquake, but Blaine still had one Fire-type left...
...Rapidash. Fastest sprinter of all pokémon, and a pretty fast attacker, too. Before Steelix could get in an Earthquake, Rapidash hit with Fire Blast.
I glumly watched Steelix's HP drop from 181...through 160...140...120...100...80...60...40...16. And there it stopped. Steelix struck then, and got a critical hit.
I took a Sunny Day-boosted Fire Blast from a level 50 Rapidash and just barely survived. Volcano Badge in hand, I thanked every last one of those Sprout Tower Gastly I wasted back in Johto.

First thing I did was fly back to Cinnabar and heal, then I went back to Seafoam and battled all of the trainers between it and Fuchsia. What did I say earlier about being a completionist? Then I flew to Viridian and battled Cal, the fellow in the basement of the Trainer House.
After that, I entered Viridian Gym, A.K.A. The Happy House of Legos. Seriously, Blue needs to fire his interior decorator. If he designed the place himself, I'd be fine with him firing himself.
I marched up to Wonder Dork and challenged him. His Pidgeot was more resiliant than I expected; it and my Skarmory had a brief but eventful aerial battle (it Mirror Moved my Fly a couple times,) and then Pidgeot Whirlwinded and traded Skarmory for Scizor. Scizor brought it down without too much fuss. Then Blue sent out Arcanine, and I replied with my trusty firefighter, Steelix. Arcanine was faster and got in a Flamethrower that took Steelix down to a fifth of its life, but Steelix' answering Earthquake ended the problem.
Then Blue went for Gyarados, and I tagged in Magneton. I trust you can guess how that went. After that, my Scizor toyed with Blue's Exeggutor with Fury Cutter, completely ignoring two Solarbeams that did less than 30 damage each. Sadly, Fury Cutter stalled out right near the end; Exeggutor went down with a Wing Attack, but next up was Blue's Alakazam, making me wish I'd been able to keep Fury Cutter going. Not that Alakazam was hard to bring down, but it's just amusing to watch a pokémon lose all of its HP to a single Fury Cutter.
For Blue's last pokémon, Rhydon, I left Scizor in and used Metal Claw. Two hits took down the horned behemoth and won me the Earth Badge, the final Kanto Badge.
Blue promised he'd beat me some day. Yeah, get in line.

Now, I've got a tradition. Not sure why, maybe it just feels right.
When I collect all eight Kanto badges, it's time to take on the Elite Four. Even in GSC where I already did that eight badges ago.
So, after healing Steelix at the Viridian Pokémon Center, I took Route 22 into Victory Road, and emerged back on Indigo Plateau. I healed, saved, and then went toward the stairs, and got challenged by Kyle again. I was going to post how the battle went, but the battle really wasn't interesting enough to bother. I mopped the floor with him.
I healed and saved again, then took on the Elites. By the time I beat Lance, everyone was level 60.
After the credits rolled again, I went to Pallet Town and got clearance to climb Mt. Silver. I flew to Indigo, dropped through Victory Road and stepped onto Route 28.
I made my way to Mt. Silver and into Silver Cave, collecting all of the items lying about the place. Then, just to see how I was doing, I challenged Red. I wasn't at a computer at the time, so I can't provide a blow-by-blow, but here's how it went:
Like a fool, I forgot to put an appropriate pokémon in the lead, so I ended up facing Red's Pikachu with my Scizor. I switched to Steelix and Pikachu got in a Charm. Then, Pikachu proved faster than Steelix (big surprise) and got in a second Charm...end result was it took three Earthquakes to finish off the little rat (because Red used a Full Restore after the first.)
Red sent in Espeon next, and I put Scizor back in and used Fury Cutter while it used Psychic. I barely won that; Scizor was down near the red when it placed the finishing slice.
Red sent in Venusaur next, and I switched to Skarmory...and then Red switched out Venusaur for Snorlax. My jaw just about hit the ground; very few ingame trainers ever switch pokémon, and I'd forgotten Red was one of them. Skarmory and Snorlax, tanks each, tussled for a while, and Skarmory finally emerged the victor after Snorlax forgot to use Rest again.
Then, Red sent in Charizard. At level 77, it was faster than any of my pokémon. I played around with Max Revives for a bit, and determined that it could faint any of my battlers with a single Flamethrower when they were at max HP, without needing to get a critical hit. And that ended my bout with him.
I suppose I could just buy up a whole lot of Revives and PP-drain him, but that's not the way I like to play. So, now I find myself needing to train again, this time for the final time. Earthquake won't save me; I need to win with either Steelix's Rock Throw or Magneton's Thunderbolt. I might actually give that Thunderdance set for Magneton a try...

    Team:

    Steelix L60
    Headbutt, Earthquake, Screech, Rock Throw

    Scizor L60
Wing Attack, Metal Claw, Double Team, Fury Cutter

    Magneton L61
    Thunderbolt, Swift, Flash, Thunder Wave

    Skarmory L61
    Steel Wing, Fly, Sand-Attack, Swift

    L18FIRE and RAINL21
FIRE: Dig, Cut, Rock Smash, Strength
    RAIN: Surf, Thief, Whirlpool, Waterfall

Next: I'm going to catch myself a Paras and a Psyduck and see how Thunderdance works out.

I walked back down Silver Cave for some incidental training, then flew to Ilex Forest, where I caught a Paras and a Psyduck ( named ;) and :/, respectively) and loaded them up with the HMs and TMs necessary to support a Thunderdance set for Magneton. Then I picked up a Thunder TM from the Goldenrod Game Corner, flew to Blackthorne and made Magneton forget Flash. I didn't teach it Rain Dance or Thunder yet, because I wanted to be able to revert to my earlier set if this didn't work.
I flew back to Mt. Silver and worked my way back up to Red, then saved and taught Magneton the Thunderdance combo. After remembering to put Steelix in the lead this time, I began my second challenge.

It was at this point that I realized the game was just plain screwing with me now and had no intention of ever letting Blastoise be fully paralyzed the way it seriously should have been by now. I ended the battle. This is highly unsatisfactory; if the Rain Dance shutdown is going to be effective, I need to be able to take down Snorlax and then Blastoise during the downpour despite Snorlax's Amnesia and Blastoise's boosted Surf; the only other option is to make Magneton faster than Charizard so I can lay down the Rain Dance when Charizard is out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I've got my work cut out for me.

You need to see What other Pokemon can learn Rain Dance, because doing all that switching you are just killing your Pokemon, and having to revive them. Remember Red is the final trainer, he's not going down easily, so you have plan your attacks, and strategy. Maybe Rain Dance on Scizor or Steelix. Remember Rain Dance increases Thunders accuracy, so If Steelix can learn it, his Pikachu won't do **** to you. You could let your Steelix die when he switches to Blastoise, and then bring Magneton with Thunder to kill. Or you could start with Scizor, use Rain dance, and then switch to Steelix, and when it uses Charm, switch to Magneton or kill it (The little rat, needs to die)

Maybe Toxic could also be used to Take down Snorlax.

But, whatever you do good luck.

[i]first off, i want to say congrats to ghost for completeing the monotype challenge... great work man you really did well... haha eventually i'll be doing it, just have to figure out a type and such... i'll most likely start either during my upcoming cruise or after, but soon.

poryhedron, keep at it man. the game seems to take sick pleasure in screwing its players over, so i mean just keep going and i'm sure you'll get it down. like bandit said, red ain't no pushover, so just keep at it and you'll finally kick his butt. raindance can be a tricky move because of the blastoise, if you do go that route you'll have to make sure you kill it and fast (but you know that). charry would obviously be a problem, so i would say try to make whomever you put RD on (if you go that route) faster than charry. it may take carbs, training or whatever, but so long as its faster it should be ok. toxic might work, but doesn't it go away when snorlax would use rest? like, he'd go from posioned to sleeping, or am i thinking of something else? i do know that if red switched out snorlax, toxic would just turn to a regular posion anyway, so it may not be worth it in the end to have toxic out there, because you would need to have a trapping move so snorlax couldn't run away. it would be up to you, but i would think it would just take away move slots from moves that would serve you better.

Yeah, anyways I'll probably be going for another MTC. With Poryhedron doing something in FRLG next, it will be kinda silent around here, unless Supremechampion starts. In hope of keeping this alive, I'm doing another one.

    Any type suggestions? Thingies?

Sadly, nobody on my team except Magneton can learn Rain Dance. Well, an HMer can, Poliwag or Psyduck depending on which HMers I'm using at the time, but I can't rely on them in battle.
And yeah, I'm horrible at outpredicting the enemy. This is why you never ever see me on GSbot or even making RMT threads. I'm the next Prof. Oak, not the next Lance/Steven.

You Forretress back and Explode on Charizard or Snorlax, you could even Put Curse on him and then Explode, because the only thing Snorlax will be doing is Body Slaming you to death, or Snoring you to death, if I remember his set, he has Rest / Amnesia/ Body Slam / and Snore. That way Snorlax is gone. You could even put him as a Starter and drop some Spikes, giving you a little more damage when they come out, and if you put Whirlwind. Oh wait....you can't do that.....maybe Roar on Steelix, since you can't put Whirlwind on Skarmory. Try it out and tell me what you think.

Forretress would have to be faster than Charizard to do that because one Flamethrower will kill it badly enough that even Rain Dance couldn't save it. Forretress has a base Speed of 40. Magneton's already bad enough on Speed, I'm not holding out hope for Forretress.

I'm not really concerned about beating Snorlax. I've realized that if I have Rain Dance going when Snorlax goes down, Red's not going to send in Charizard. There are only two ways I'm getting a Rain Dance for my battle with Charizard: a) be fast enough to use it while he's out. b) Kill every other member of Red's team first.

Everyone except Charizard, who's the biggest problem. Spikes don't damage Flying-types.

Actually, oddly enough, you can put Roar on Skarmory...a lot of people get confused and think you can put Whirlwind on Skarm because they know they've seen a Skarm with a pseudohazing move...hm...maybe that could help me finish off all five of the other team members first. I teach Roar to whoever's fastest on my team, then, every time Red's about to send in Charizard, I send in my Pseudohazer and send Charizard packing, then deal with whoever comes out...that'd involve needless switching if my P-hazer doesn't happen to be equipped to deal with the replacement, though...and, looking at their Base Stats, I'm not sure whether Skarm or Magneton is faster. If it's Mag, who needs Roar? Rain Dance will pseudohaze Charizard just fine, and if it doesn't, he's fried. So, yeah, mission continues to be: Train Magneton, focusing on Speed (I'm in Diglett's Cave now! Maggie's getting a lot of usage out of Swift! ^_^) and hope beyond hope to outspeed an opponent with 30 more points of base Speed!
    ...

    Level 70 might not be enough...80, anyone? ¬_¬;

You start with the pokemon that is first to come up for your type. Let's say you do water, you start with totodile. Electric, you use your starter pokemon until you can catch a pokemon of that type, Mareep here in Silver or Gold. You'll have to beat Falkner first before you can obtain Mareep.

Understand? So use starter pokemon (NO OTHERS!) until you can catch one of your own chosen type.

[color=silver]Hey! I've always wanted to do one of these, and now I am doing! Wahey!

    Monotype Challenge.

    Type: Fire
    Version: Gold
    Trainer: Torran

Starting off, I had a feeling that playing a Fire challenge was gonna be hard... But I’m not one to shy away from a challenge, (as long as it’s not annoying ^^;; ) so I picked the lovely Cyndaquil for my starter and set out to Mr. Pokemon’s house.

A boring journey later, many battles have passed and Cyndaquil, dubbed Aelethil, is at level eight. I get back to Cherrygrove, only to be ambushed by the evil rivally one, who is promptly whupped by my demonically high-levelled Cyndaquil.

Picking up the egg, I went on my jolly way to Violet City, where we ran straight to Sprout Tower to burn up some Bellsprouts. About three trainers later, Aelethil evolves, leaving me very happy with a level fourteen Quilava by the time I get to the end of the tower and very ready to take on Falkner.

Calling at the Pokemon Centre, I stop by the gym, determined not to be outbeaten by a few scurvy birds.

True to my wishes, I whupped arse, OHKO’ing most of the pokes with Embers. Aelethil grows to level eighteen, I gain the Flash HM and go on a mission to catch a HM slave.

To my frustration, I find that Sentrets can’t actually learn Flash, so I wander down that route with the Magikarp trainers (yawn) instead and snag myself a Mareep.

Wandering through Union Cave, I find my way to Azalea town and clear the cave of Rocket members, Aelethil growing to level twenty from all the lovely experience! ^^

Grubbing my EXP, I settle for Bugsy and his trainers in the usual, burny way, and his Scyther goes down in two hits, which makes a change, cos that thing usually trounces me!

Just psyching up for the Rival battle!

    Position: Azalea Town
Pokemon: Cyndaquil [M] Aelethil [Lv. 20]
Mareep [F] Mareep [HM Slave] - Flash [Lv. 4]
    Badges: 2

I'm glad to get this done. A creeping paranoia set in recently that my Silver's battery might croak before I could finish. Now that I've completed the GSC Monotype Challenge, I've got my sights set on the FRLG Limited Pure Monotype Challenge...should be interesting. Unfortunately I can't start immediately because I'm away on summer vacation this week, and I didn't bring my Fire Red...but I'll get started as soon as I get back home!

    Character: Matt
    Type: Pure Water
Reason: I wanted a pure Monotype challenge for GSC. Water seemed nice.
    Progress:

So yeah, nothing special. I started out, took Totodile, named it Sobek and went for Mr.Pokemon. I trained it to l.10 before facing my rival. Then I hurried up and went to Elm, before walking the same path again to Violet City. I defeated Sprouttower with ease, eventhough of type disadvantidge. Then I went to Violet City Gym and booted out the Gymtrainers.

    Falkner:

Yeah, Pidgey fell to two scratches. Pidgeotto to one water gun and one scratch. Hurray!

    *End*

I saved outside of the pokemoncenter after picking up the Mystery Egg.

So I went down the route to Azelea, training and stuff. Sobek evolved! ^^ Then I quickly whipped out the cave, slowpoke well and I was set for Bugsy.

    Bugsy:

One bite for Metapod, two bites for Kakuna, three bites for Scyther and I got a badge. It's not fun when you have uberstrong pokemon

    *End*

Yeah, after that I healed and defeated my rival with my newly learned Fury Cutter attack. Thank god for that attack, since otherwise I wouldn't have defeated that pesky Bayleef. Gastly and Zubat were easy.

I saved in front of Ilex forest.

Hey, I'm going to do a fire type monotype challenge. So here it goes..

    Name: V-man
    type: fire
    badges: 0
    GSC: Gold Version
    Happenings:

I have just began. Nothing too much. Just doing the basics. Battling the rival was easy. my cyndaquil was level 8 and all I did was smokescreen to drive down his accuracy and then leer to lower defense and two tackles to KO him. I didn't write a log on it since it wasn't exactly exciting... I am now on my way to the the route ahead and will log as it goes...

    TEAM:

    Bazly / Cyndaquil
    current level- 10
    1) tackle
    2) leer
    3) smokescreen
    4) N/A

    Name: V-man
    type: fire
    badges: 1
    GSC: Gold Version
    Happenings:

I pounded through route 31, destroying every trainer in my way. Cyndaquil learned ember. Then I headed forward to sprout tower and made short work of it, destroying every bellsprout in one hit.The final boss just took two embers for Hoothoot. cyndaquil evolved into a quilava, and I got HM04 flash. I left sprout tower and look at my next destination.... Falconer the gym. Sadly I do not think there are any other fire types til Growlithe and Magmar near Ecruteak, but til then I should have no problem with Bugsy and the other girl with normal types.

    TEAM:

    Bazly / Quilava
    Current level: 15
    1) tackle
    2) leer
    3) smokescreen
    4) ember

    Happenings:

Okay, Falconer was very dissappointing I destroyed him in 1-2 hits everytime and his trainers went down just as fast... I aquired the egg and am carrying it for no reason. I am now headed down route 32 and ignoring ruins of alf for now... Route 32 is pretty easy I took down everyone easily and my worst foe was definately the junior traine with a wooper LV: 10. I made it through the rock cave defeating every trainer and reached Violet Town. Now my objective is to destroy rockets stuff, and defeat Bugsy who will probably be a wonderful romp of one-hit-KOs!

    TEAM:

    Bazly / Quilava
    Level 24 (uh-oh)
    1) tackle
    2) leer
    3) smokescreen
    4) ember

    Name: V-man
    type: fire
    badges: 4
    GSC: Gold Version
    Happenings:

I didn't think anyone wanted to hear about beating the first four GYMs anymore so I'll simplify it: I beat the next two GYMS (morty and Whitney) pretty simply. For Whitney I just used sheer overpowerment of Bazly to stomp down her pokemon. After obtaining squirtbottle I didn't catch Sudowoodo, and went ahead to Ecruteak where I thought f catching a Magmar but since I can't remember where the rock smash TM is then I'll just have to wait. I caught a Growlithe and raised it up and since it knew bite it was able to beat Morty. I have now reached Olivine and beat every trainer on the way there. I also caught a crappy HM slave: HMdude the sentret!

    TEAM:

    Bazly / Quilava
    Level: 28
    1) quick attack
    2) Leer
    3) smokescreen
    4) ember

    Knox / Growlithe
    Level: 27
    1) Bite
    2) Take Down
    3) Ember
    4) Leer

    HMdude / Sentret
    Level: 4
    1) tackle
    2) Cut
    3) X
    4) X

It was right there, man. When you capture or defeat Sudowoodo, you speak to the guy just to your right and he gives you Rock Smash.
Although you don't really need Rock Smash to get Magmar. You can reach the basement easily without it.

    Thanks!
EDIT: I read the rules and it didn't say I couldn't use Ho-oh, but figured I might aswell ask.

Well, for starters, make sure Bazly is infected as well. Then catch some random pokémon (actually, Togepi would work fine,) infect it too and drop it in Bill's PC. Pokérus is only contagious for a few days, but time doesn't really pass inside Bill's PC, so the stored pokémon will keep its fresh, contagious Pokérus, so that you can infect Magmar and Ho-Oh later.

Quick review of what Pokérus does: when a pokémon wins a battle, it earns EXP, and it also earns separate "Stat EXP" that very gradually improves its stats. This is what makes trained pokémon stronger than wild pokémon. Vitamins like Protein and Iron also boost Stat EXP. The effect of Pokérus is to double the Stat EXP you get from battles, so infected pokémon will get stat improvements a little faster...and even though Pokérus is only contagious for a few days, the Stat EXP-doubling will be with that pokémon for the rest of its life. You're super-lucky for getting this so early in the game!

    Happenings:

I had trouble the first attempt at Chuck the fighting type Gym guy. So then I got the antidote for Amphy, and destroyed Jasmine, Steel type easily. Then I moved on to the Chuckinator. Then I got pokerus and infected two pokemon with it and boxed'em. I got rid of HMdude, since HMman has wider variety, and I need something that can learn fly and cut (Farfetch'D) so I can have four fire types. Then I went to Chucks GYM and fough him. Knox took down Primate with two FlameWheels. Typhlosion took down Poliwrath by using smokescreen, and then being put to sleep for four turns, then woke up took two surfs, and quick attacked Poliwrath down!! I picked up fly HM and now will head to Mahogany town. To maybe catch a shiny Gyarados. (not that it matters...)

    TEAM:

    Bazly / Typhlosion
    level: 38 *pokerus*
    1) Quick Attack
    2) Smokescreen
    3) Ember
    4) Flamewheel

    Knox / Growlithe
    Level: 38 *pokerus*
    1) Bite
    2) Take down
    3) Ember
    4) FlameWheel

    HMman / Krabby
    1) Surf
    2) Strength
    3)XxXxXxX
    4)XxXxXxX
