    Dragonis VS. Spike

    Official ASB Battle

    Referee: Blademaster

    Arena: The Pewter City Gym
A vast chamber, about 50 feet across and in the shape of a rectangle, with a dirt floor, split down the middle of the field by a chalk line (the short way) and with an inverted chalk-lined semicircle at either end, where the Trainers stand. Several blunt and conical rocks protrude sporadically from around the arena, and taller spires and larger boulders are scattered around the outside of the arena. Some columns extend around the battlefield like pillars, and a few stalactites hang from the ceiling. Torches around the room and a few large lights hanging from the ceiling light the room with a dim glow.

    Round 1

    Spike's Team

    Enigma the Staryu(N)
    Health: 100%
    Energy: 100%
    Status: Ready to go!
Cosmic Power - Thunder Wave - Surf

    Dragonis' Team

    Hailee the Sneasel(F)
    Health: 100%
    Energy: 100%
    Status: Battle-ready
Fake Out - Agility - Slash

We're here at the Pewter City Gym in... well, Pewter City, where a battle is about to begin. Though the Gym Leader and Staff are not currently around, the doors have been left unlocked (Actually, a certain someone who shall remain nameless picked the lock, snuck in, and turned on the power.), and 2 Trainers eager for a fight have wandered in, looking for a battle.

Spike, a pretty experienced Trainer, and Dragonis, a newcomer to the ASB world, face each other down, each eager to add a win to their roster and prove himself. With very little hesitation, both Trainers release their Pokemon. Spike starts off with an odd, starlike Pokemon named Enigma: a Staryu. Dragonis releases a dark, weasellike creature named Hailee: a Sneasel. Blademaster, the only other Trainer around, acts as referee, awaiting the first round match-ups...

Both Trainers shout their commands; Enigma and Hailee nod (or, in Enigma's case, twitch) and face each other. Enigma starts the round, the gem at its center sining like the night sky, with rotating planets and stars appearing within it... But Hailee, quick as a flash, dashes forward, just barely raking her claw over Enigma's form with a high-pitched shriek. Enigma, startled, loses its concentration; the galaxian energy within it lost...

Grunting irritaby, Enigma focuses and begins gathering energy from the air, focusing it into an electrical current before firing it at... nothing?

Yes! Hailee's incredible speed has made her all but vanish... until Enigma feels itself being watched. It slowly turns around... And Hailee, smirking evilly, slices it across the 'face,' knocking the psychic star right over.

Enigma hops back onto its 'feet,' an anime vein appearing above its gem. Gathering as much water vapor as it can with its psychic powers, the Staryu compresses the vapor within its body and fires it, hitting Hailee with what looks like a compressed tidal wave. The icy weasel cries out and skids back, eventually coming to rest against a small spire. Hailee wipes the water from her eyes and scowls at Enigma, as if to say, "Bring it on."...

    Spike's Team

    Enigma the Staryu(N)
    Health: 89%
    Energy: 85%
    Status: Battle-ready; slightly scratched up

    Dragonis' Team

    Hailee the Sneasel(F)
    Health: 92%
    Energy: 87%
    Status: OK; a little annoyed.

Arean Status: All's normal; the middle of the field is wet and muddy.

Other Remarks: Be careful - some weather effects may not work indoors...

Blademaster, Hailee is female not male. :azn: She might get offended if you keep calling her a male.

Ok, Hailee your doing great! To start this round off, I want you to hit Enigma with Shadow Ball. Then, useing Agility, climb up the spire and jump from spire to spire untill your behind Enigma again. When youre behind it jump off and use Body Slam from above!

Staryu is not psychic. Starmie is. Wasn't the Pewter Gym covered in water btw?

Anyway, don't worry Enigma, we can win this. Start with Thunder Wave, then I want you to use Double Team and wait until she attacks with body slam to answer with Hydro Pump.

When I said this battle should be in the Pewter Gym, I was thinking when Ash first fought Brock.
But in the special ep. your talking about Brock drained all the water out when he fought his mom.

Dragonis: Whoops... Sorry about that. I fixed it, though.

Spike: Just to clarify, I know Staryu isn't a Psychic-type, but it is psychic. I read in the old Pokemon Handbook a long time ago that that's how it moves around. It's just a play on words, though - I'm not reffing it so Hailee's Dark/Ghost/Bug attacks do super-efective damage, so don't worry.

As for the Gym itself, it's been awhile since I've seen the anime; I'm only familiar with a Rock-type Pewter Gym, sorry.

    Now, back to the battle!

Spike, a pretty experienced Trainer, and Dragonis, a newcomer to the ASB world, face each other down, each eager to add a win to their roster and prove himself. Their Pokemon, a Staryu named Enigma and a Sneasel named Hailee (respectively), stare each other down, each a little damaged but still quite capable of battling. And neither of them looks as though they'll be giving up anytime soon... Off to the side, (hopefully) out of harm's way, Blademaster the referee oversees the battle.

Both Trainers shout their commands; Enigma and Hailee nod (or, in Enigma's case, twitch) and face each other once again. This time, Hailee makes the first move, closing her eyes and conjuring a dark ball of shadowy energy in her claws. Meanwhile, Enigma focuses on amassing its own energy, gathering electrical particles from the atmosphere and focusing them into a beam of energy... Both Pokemon fire their attacks at almost the same time, but Shadow Ball spirals over the field, going around the focused blast of electricity, which strikes Hailee dead-center! The Dark Pokemon howls as she's struck; her muscles lock up and she falls to the ground, totally paralyzed.

Meanwhile, Hailee's spiraling Shadow Ball, too erratic to predict, crashes into Enigma, who groans as black energy crackles around it, chilling the Starshape Pokemon to its core and back.

Hailee, still frozen in place, strains to recall her next move... Agility... Her speed is likely her best attribute, but her locked-up leg muscles are currently useless. The numbness begins to fade, but not before Enigma glows white for a moment, before a hologram-like duplicate appears on either side of it.

Enigma's only move now is to wait for a Body Slam, and then counter. So, it waits... and waits... and waits...

But, it's no good. Hailee is still pretty numb; fighting the pain of pins and needles and the clumsiness of lack of ability to control her limbs, the Sneasel eventually manages to stagger to her feet; she tries to rush Enigma, hoping to at least do a little damage to it, but she trips over her own numb foot and stumbles to one knee. The paralysis is fading, thankfully, but she still doesn't have the capability to launch a decent attack. Rather than take a full-force Hydro Pump in exchange for an attack that probably won't even hit, Hailee decides to let the numbness fade away and wait until next round to attack...

    Dragonis' Team

    Hailee the Sneasel(F)

Status: A little bored; Double Team producing 2 duplicates

And neither of them looks as though they'll be giving up anytime soon... Off to the side, (hopefully) out of harm's way, Blademaster the referee oversees the battle.

Both Trainers shout their commands; Enigma and Hailee nod (or, in Enigma's case, twitch) and face each other once again. Enigma starts the round off, a strange white glow surrounding its body. The air around it begins to blur, and, in a display that seemingly defies the laws of physics, Enigma shrinks down from the size of a fan to the size of a shuriken. Hailee's eyes widen as her opponent seemingly disappears before her, but she can't worry about that now. Closing here eyes and taking a deep breath, Hailee waits patiently as the numbness fades away and her energy begins to return. She's still a bit stiff, but at least she's mobile again.

The Minimized Staryu, tired of waiting for its opponent to make a move, decides to take the offensive. Its core changes from red to a cool blue as it begins to channel sound waves through its body, and a double helix of water fires from its gem, a horrific screech laced into it that breaks loose and rattles Hailee's ears as it strikes her. The Sneasel cries out and shakes her head - after being paralyzed for most of the last round, the gods of Pokemon have mercifully spared her the confusing side effects of Enigma's Water Pulse.

Hailee, not too keen on Enigma getting off another shot, focuses on her opponent; her eyes glow a sharp red as she hones in on the Staryu's location. The tiny Staryu appears to her, now fully-sized again, and red crosshairs appears at its exact center - her target. Hailee grins wickedly as her claw glows a bright white...

Enigma looks flustered - its Minimize now useless, the Starshape Pokemon gathers electrons from the atmosphere and charges them, hoping to use them as another means of shock treatment against the Sneasel, but before it can get off a shot, Hailee makes her move - using her blinding speed to the best of her ability, she races at Enigma and slams her claw into it as hard as she can. Like a miniature comet, the attack hits Enigma with such force that the star goes flying, spinning through the air and crashing into a rock.

The Starshape Pokemon jumps to its feet and rubs its 'head,' hurt but more irritated that its attack was foiled. It fires the sparks it had already amassed, but without sufficient charging, its Thunderbolt is little stronger than a Thundershock. Hailee shrieks as the attack shocks her, but the pain quickly fades away this time; Hailee sighs, relieved that she hasn't been incapacitated again...

As the round draws to a close, both Pokemon look a little worn, but are still eager to tear each other up. With the scores pretty much even and both Trainers showing equal amounts of skill and determination, this one could truly go either way...

Alright Hailee let's start this round off by using Mimic to learn Thunderbolt. Then use Thunderbolt! Let's see how much that little star likes electricity now! If mimic didn't work then use Double Team. And finish this round off by using Crush Claw to (hopefully) cause some major damage. If Enigma tries using any electric attacks then knock them back with Thunderbolt if mimic worked if not use Protect.

Your orders confuse me a lil. Anyway.

Enigma, quickly, use Harden to raise your defense and for him to mimic that. Then, use Surf to destroy the clones he created, if he did create any, and to hurt him of course. Finish with Toxic.

We're here at the Pewter City Gym in... well, Pewter City, where a battle is taking place between Dragonis and Spike. Though the Gym Leader and Staff are not currently around, the doors have been left unlocked (Actually, a certain someone who shall remain nameless picked the lock, snuck in, and turned on the power.), and the 2 aforementioned Trainers, eager for a fight, have wandered in, looking for a battle.

Spike, a pretty experienced Trainer, and Dragonis, a newcomer to the ASB world, have released their Pokemon, a Staryu named Enigma and a Sneasel named Hailee (respectively). The two stare each other down, each mildly damaged but still quite capable of battling... Off to the side, (hopefully) out of harm's way, Blademaster the referee oversees the battle.

Both Trainers shout their commands; Enigma and Hailee nod (or, in Enigma's case, twitch) and face each other once again.

Hailee begins the round this time, her body glowing a faint silver as she strains to remember the last attack Enigma used. She recalls a brief surge of electrical energy... Thunder-something... It wasn't too strong, whatever it was... Thunderbolt? No, it wasn't strong enough to be a Thunderbolt... was it?

As Hailee struggles to remember, Enigma's body glows with a glossy shine, as though it's been polished; in truth, it's defense has gone up enough to weaken Hailee's physical attacks by 16.66%. Pretty sharp, Staryu!

Hailee, however, isn't so impressed; giving her best to an attack she knows nothing about, she manages to collect a small amount of sparks and fire them at Enigma. The electrical barrage does decent damage to Enigma, but unfortunately, not as much as a typical Thunderbolt - it seems that Hailee could only Mimic the weak Thunderbolt Enigma mustered at the end of the last round. Tough break.

Frustrated that Harden did so little to defend against that last attack, Enigma decides to take the offensive; it quickly amasses water particles from within its body and in the air, and then it fires them at Hailee, sending a deluge slamming into her. Hailee is bowled right over, but she quickly gets back to her feet - she can handle a little water.

Hailee then raises her claw, which begins to glow a bright white once again. She channels her energy and sprints forward - and she falls flat on her face. She's run into trouble: the dirt floor of the gym is totally soaked, creating a slick layer of mud across the middle of the arena! Hailee scowls and trudges off the muddy patch, onto a dry spot, and she tries again, this time sprinting over the dirt floor and slashing across Enigma, knocking the poor star a god 10 feet back. Even weakened by Harden, that Crush Claw had to hurt!

Enigma gets back up and points its points at Hailee, gathering as much of its pain and negativity as possible within its body. Using a psychic ability similar to alchemy, it transmutes the negative emotions it's feeling into a potent venom, which it fires from its top point like a spitting cobra. The inky fluid crashes into Hailee head-on; the poor weasel shrieks as the poison seeps into her skin.

As the round draws to a close, Enigma looks a bit worn, but poor Hailee has been Poisoned. Though her body's Dark makeup manages to lessen the blunt of the attack slightly, she's still gonna have some problems from now on...

    Dragonis' Team

    Hailee the Sneasel(F)
    Health: 70%
    Energy: 63%
    Status: Badly Poisoned

    Spike's Team

    Enigma the Staryu(N)
    Health: 60%
    Energy: 54%
Status: Would have a headache if it could

Arean Status: Much of the field is coated with slippery mud

Other Remarks: Be careful - some weather effects may not work indoors... Hailee lost 2 HP from poison; she'll lose the amount she lost the last round +1 from now on until she's cured or she faints.

Hailee begins the round once again, her incredulous speed giving her an edge as she bull-rushes Enigma, bowling the star right over. Enigma grunts and quickly jumps back to its feet, its Hardened body absorbing much of the blow. A glassy layer coats the Staryu's body as it summons a defensive shield, which will hopefully repel Hailee's physical attacks.

Wishful thinking - the poison in her veins pumping up her adrenaline, she pulls back her claw and howls as brownish light emits from it. An evil grin on her face, she charges and slams her claw into the glassy shield, which cracks and shatters, allowing Hailee's slowed-down claw to strike Enigma and send it flying...

But Enigma knows this move; spinning through the air like a boomerang, the Starshape Pokemon quickly regains control of itself and, like a surfer, it rides the air currents in the gym, spinning in a wide arc before sailing back at Hailee. Enigma recalls the powerful atacks its taken throughout this battle, as well as every other negative emotion that it can... being picked on by the bigger Staryu as an infant... the time Spike forgot its birthday... by the time Enigma is within reach of the Sneasel it's battling, the star is furious and spinning at dangerous speeds... This could hurt...

But Hailee, though starting to sweat from the poison, just grins; a thin lining of blue light surrounds her body...

    WHAM!!

With enough force to bowl Stone Cold Steve Austin over, Enigma slams into Hailee, sending her skidding back a good 15 feet, but it can't knock her over... Hailee cackles as she slows to a stop, and all the force of Enigma's attack is amplified and whipped right back at it, blasting concussive shock waves through the Water Pokemon and sending it flying a good 30 feet before crashing back down. Luckily, the muddy floor cushioned its fall, so Enigma isn't too badly injured... But it could use a bath...

Other Remarks: Be careful - some weather effects may not work indoors... Hailee lost 3 HP from poison; she'll lose the amount she lost the last round +1 from now on until she's cured or she faints.

Also, I forgot to ref Enigma being Hardened last round, so to compensate, I gave it a +3 HP bonus.

OK, Hailee your doing great! Let's start this round off by using Ice Beam aimed at Enigma's 'feet' and the ground. Hopefully you can freeze it to the ground and harden the mud at the same time. Then, sliding along the ice, get up close and hit Enigma with Facade. And to finish this round, gather the electricity you Mimiced from Thunderbolt into your claws and unleash a Thunderpunch, if you can't (aren't able to) do that then cover the ground with more ice with a nother Ice Beam.

Ok Enigma, this is what you are going to do. Start levitating and go to the ceiling, I want you to use Rapid Spin to dodge the ice beam attacks that she sends you. Then, when she tries to approach to attack with facade I want you to respond with Hydro Pump and send her to the ground again. Aim at a conical rock. Finally, I want you to use Rapid Spin again to dodge the final attack and cut the frozen stalactites hanging in the ceiling. Let's hope some hurt Hailee and that the ground is wet and muddy enough to make her hard to move properly.

The two stare each other down, each moderately damaged but still quite capable of battling... Off to the side, (hopefully) out of harm's way, Blademaster the referee oversees the battle.

Both Trainers shout their commands; Enigma and Hailee nod (or, in Enigma's case, twitch) and face each other once again.

Hailee begins the round yet again, inhaling deeply, combining air with the freon inside of her body, producing a chemical reaction that fires a jet of frigid cold from her mouth at Enigma.

But Enigma is ready for this; the Starshape Pokemon leaps up and begins spinning through the air, knocking the mud off its body and sailing over the Ice Beam, which loses its energy and strikes the ground, coating the muddy floor with a thin layer of glaze...

Hailee scowls and then clutches her stomach as she feels the poison beginning to wear at her immune system; focusing on the burning pain the poison is causing, she works herself into a frenzy and leaps up at her antagonizor, claws outstretched. If Enigma had a mouth, it'd be grinning...

    WHOOOOOOOOSH!!!

Hailee has barely time to gasp as Enigma blasts a stream of spiraling water from one of its pointed limbs. With force comparible to a fire hose, the jet stream slams into Hailee, knocking her to the floor and skidding into a rock. Now, she's the muddy one...

Enigma hovers over the field, contemplating its next move. Spike ordered it to cut the frozen stalactites on the ceiling...

But those stalactites aren't frozen! They're solid stone! Enigma groans and begins spinning as fast as it can, aiming straight for some of the thinner stalactites. Enigma cuts through a few without trouble, but after the fourth one, it stops - solid rock is too hard for it to cut through effectively, and it's hurting itself in the process.

Back on the ground, a disoriented Hailee gets to her feet and finds that she's surrounded on 3 sides by mud and on the last side by a large boulder. She looks up, trying to spot Enigma... who has just cut through several stalactites, which are now falling straight at her!

Hailee shrieks and aims and, thinking with speed to match her body, fires another Ice Beam, coating the floor in front of her with another thin layer of ice that overlaps the first, giving her some breathing room. Using her claws as ice skates, she quickly darts forward, just barely avoiding the stalactite that just crashed down behind her. She dodges to the left of a second one, and to the right of a third one.

But then, the poison causes another sharp pain in her stomach, distracting Hailee and causing her to slow down... Enigma, seeing an opportunity, cuts through a fourth stalactite, which plummets to earth, crashing down onto Hailee's head. The Sneasel cries out as the stunning blow hits her; completely dazed, she falls over, a thin line of blood running down the top of her head...

Enigma, who has been airborne the whole round, executes a soft landing a few feet away from Hailee. As it 'looks' down at Hailee's poisoned, semi-conscious body, a single thought crosses its crystalline mind:

    'Uh-oh.'

Alright Hailee we can still do this! I want you to use Snore until you wake up. If/when you wake up use Blizzard to knock the first wave of rocks away from you then Protect yourself from the second wave. And, if you can, knock Enigma back with Crush Claw before it can hit you with Rapid Spin.

However, Hailee seems to be on the clear receiving end of most of the damage, being badly poisoned and KO'ed by a falling stalactite. However, she is still capable of battling, so both Trainers and the Ref have agreed to give her one round to wake up...

Both Trainers shout their commands; Enigma nods (or, in Enigma's case, twitch) and Hailee groans softly...

Needless to say, Enigma makes the first move, focusing its psychic abilities on the abundant supply of rocks around the arena. The gem at the center of its body glows blue; a similar blue aura surrounds several basketball-sized rocks, which lift off the ground and hurl themselves at Hailee, crashing into her with decent force.

Hailee groans softly and then rolls over, a single word echoing in her mind:

    'Snore... Snore... Snore...'

Hailee opens her mouth and utters an impressively loud sound, sending minor shock waves slamming into Enigma. The Staryu cringes briefly as the attack takes its toll, but then it cuts off abruptly. Enigma glances across the field...

And it sees Hailee, barely awake, rubbing her wounded head. That Snore was loud enough to wake her up, it seems! Hailee sits up and mumbles something, looking around the field...

Then, she sees Enigma her eyes widen, and then they narrow - she remembers where she is now...

Enigma, not to be deterred, focuses its telekinetic abilities once again, and a few more large rocks glow blue, as does its gem. The rocks shake slightly, and then they lift off the ground...

Hailee has an idea of what's coming; closing her eyes and ignoring the pain in her head, she conjures a point of white light atop her head, which spreads down over her, enveloping her body with a thin veil of light. The rocks hurtle at her, but they crash into the shield around her and bounce off. Hailee smiles slightly, but the stress of battle is starting to weigh on her...

Enigma lifts off the ground and begins to spin - it knows Hailee isn't going to last much longer, and it is eager to deliver the finishing blow. Spinning at at least several hundred RPMs, Enigma cuts through the air, launching itself at Hailee.

But Hailee has an idea; she pulls one of her claws behind her back and waits, her claw glowing a bright white as Enigma closes the gap between them... Closer and closer... Finally, Hailee, using her nearly-perfect reflexes, slashes her glowing claw forward into Enigma's spinning form; Enigma's own momentum spells doom for it as it comes to such a sudden stop in mid-air that it snaps over Hailee and smashes into the rough Gym floor, skidding across the muddy surface before coming to rest near the edge of the arena. Enigma gets to what could be loosely referred to as its feet and waves its points, tryig to shake the mud off its body.

Hailee smirks at Enigma, her confidence boosted again, but then she moans and falls to one knee as she feels the stinging sensation of poison coursing through her veins again...

Hailee and Enigma, both pretty exhausted, take a few minutes to get their second wind(s). Neither of them makes a move as they attempt to boost their energy - They just take a break and relax...

Dragonis sighs and Spike looks at his watch as both Pokemon continue to lounge, each beginning to feel better, but still pretty worn out...

Finally, both Pokemon get to their feet; Hailee pulls back her claw and charges, her claw glowing white as she nears Enigma.

Enigma, sensing danger, focuses once again on amassing as much water vapor within it as it can, before condensing it into a high-pressure water jet that fires across the Gym at Hailee, slamming into her knees. Hailee's momentum knocks her onto her stomach and she slides across the muddy floor. Scowling, she gets back up and continues her attack, slamming her claw into the Staryu...

But her focus had been interrupted; the energy she'd tried to amass had faded, leaving her Crush Claw much weaker - perhaps midway between a typical Scratch and a typical Slash in power. Enigma, still Hardened, shrugs off the weakened attack with ease.

Hailee groans at her misfortune, and then she groans again as she feels the poison taking its toll on her body once again, now stronger than ever.

Both Trainers shout their commands to their Pokemon, who nod and turn to face each other once again...

Enigma settles down and grunts softly as it takes a quick break, hoping to restore some of its lost energy. Hailee, meanwhile, is close enough to Enigma to use her Slash attack, and with as little effort as possible, she lashes her claw out and swipes across Enigma's so-called face. Enigma's Harden shrugs off some of the damage, but not all of it.

Enigma, seeing his opportunity, fires a barrage of golden stars made from pure energy at Hailee; Hailee, too low on energy to possibly evade and knowing that Swift can't be avoided anyway, braces herself as best as she can and takes the hit.

Enigma, low on power himself, amasses vapor particles from the air one last time and condenses them into a jet of water that blasts at Hailee, who expends the last bit of her energy fading into the shadows and reappearing behind Enigma, slashing at the star and knocking it over. Enigma struggles and gets back up.

Hailee smiles slightly - she got the last attack in...

And then, exhausted by loss of energy and the poison in her blood, she drops to all fours, and then to her stomach. Swirls appear in her eyes as she loses consciousness.

    The battle is over.
