    Default Metallix's Girl vs Knight of Time~Saffire Persian

    My Roselia and Skarmory tell me they want a more difficult challenge while they are waiting for their baby team mates to evolve.

    2vs2: One at a Time
    Must have evolved at least once, or not have the ability to evolve.
    Banned Moves: Destiny Bond, Perish Song, Rest, Attract, Memento, Explosion, Self-Destuct, Substitute, Curse
    No Damage Caps
    DQ: One Week
    Arena: Indigo Stadium

    Challengers: Roselia and Skarmory


    Skarmory is first up, Opponent can attack first

    A more difficult challenge you say?

    Okay, I think I can handle this challenge, but can we agree not to use Rest, Attract, Substitute or any other cheap moves please (e.g. Explosion).

    I'm going to send out Shadow, my male Houndoom, but I'll decide on my moves later.

    Oh, and for the arena, I guess Indigo Stadium will do, if it is okay.

    SP, I'm fine with you reffing this battle of mine as well, so go ahead and start it, when you're ready.

    Edit: Oops, almost forgot my starting moves.

    Shadow, immediately Double Team to begin this battle, then send off a bright Will-o-Wisp at Skarmory (BTW, Metallix's Girl, do your Pokemon have nicknames? I'd really like to know, and I'm betting SP would too). Finish with a Flamethrower on him (or her, gender please!), arcing it if necessary.

    Sub:

    Incase of any Spikes or Toxic coming your way, burn them up (the former may be harder to burn up) with a Flamethrower.

    Double Team ~ Will-o-Wisp/Flamethrower (to burn up Spikes or Toxic) ~ Flamethrower (to burn up Spikes or Toxic if necessary)

    Nope, my Pokemon don't have Nicknames and I tried to set my sig banner up so no one had to ask, but Skarmory's Male...^_^

    All right, Skarmory, lets use his stratagy against him! Listen very carefully: While he's Double Teaming, I want you to Torment him so he can't use a move twice in a row. Then throw Spikes at him to force him to use Flamethrower instead of Will-O-Wisp. This means he shouldn't be able to use his last Flamethrower, so I want you to nail him with a [b]Toxic
    !

    ~Round 1 Start~

    “Indigo Stadium is certainly drawing a crowd today. We have seen hundreds of competitors go head-to-head with various trainers across the regions! We have seen some awe-inspiring battles today and we have seen some that we wish we hadn’t. Now, we welcome two newcomers to the Indigo Arena: Metallix’s Girl and Knight of Time. Both are coming up to the arena floor, now, making some pre-battle agreements on the rules and regulations. No cheap moves, I say! But that’s what makes the battle interesting? *cough* Anyway, it looks like this match is starting to get underway. Both battlers have released their respective Pokémon. From Knight of Time, a ferocious Houndoom; the other, a battle-hardy Skarmory.

    The battle starts! Skarmory flies up into the air just as our canine competitor begins to glow with a dull, white light. Five copies of the Houndoom appear, all watching the flying Skarmory with interest, grins on their muzzle. The Skarmory himself has begun to glow with a ghastly dark aura, and starts to chant in a dark, serious tone – the air quivers as the chant continues, until Shadow shivers, clones following suit, as a dark curse is laid upon him. (-7 % EP Shadow, -5% EP Skarmory)

    Out of his iron beak, the Skarmory sends forth a plethora of sharp metal spikes to his right side, and the Houndoom, noticing the metal specks breathes in, releasing a hot stream of flames towards the falling objects, burning all but a few into meaningless balls of melted iron. The rest clatter upon the ground, so few that they can be easily avoided without worry. (-7 % EP Shadow, -3% EP Skarmory)

    The Skarmory then smiles a knowing smile, though he suddenly frowns in confusion, as he notices all five clones below him. Which one is the right one? He’s probably thinking. All look the same, wearing distinct grimaces. Clearly distressed, the Skarmory brings up a glob of poison from his body, choosing at random his targets, spitting down the poisonous attack, praying that it will hit the real Houndoom. (-5% EP Skarmory)

    Immediately, the Houndoom spits out a Flamethrower again – or rather, tries to, flames dying in his throat before they can make it out. He whines, shaking his head (which the clones mimic perfectly), not enjoying the effects of the dark curse at all. He can’t defend he or his clones from the Toxic as it finally makes a touch down. It splatters on three of the unfortunate Shadows, all three of which vanish into nothingness, leaving two fake and one real Houndoom, all unharmed and wearing identical relieved looks.

    Notes : More clones made by Double Team = More energy used. Less energy than normal used for Flamethrower due to it being used to melt the spikes rather than harm, so the Shadow didn’t make it quite as lethal as normal since it wasn’t used for attacking – and I repeat myself. Make sense to you?

    [color=mediumpurple]That torment is gonna last the whole battle right? It did in Skarmory's other battle, and I don't want him being scorched, hehe. Just checking...^_^

    Okay, we're at a bit of a disadvantage, here, let me think... First use Swift to wipe away the rest of his clones. Then Fly to land on his back and Drill Peck the top of his head.

    Okay Shadow, we got ourselves at a real advantage here, despite the Torment on you.

    While he's eliminating your clones, land a Will-o-Wisp on him, preferably on either set of wings if you can, then trap him in a Fire Spin tight enough to continuously hit him, much like a fiery twister. Finally, Counter the Drill Peck as best as you can!

    ~Round 2 Start~

    “Fully intending to get those annoying clones out of the way, the Skarmory screeches, opening his mouth wide and sending a flurry of five-pointed stars towards the three Houndoom. Each of the clones are glowing with a faint light, and with a snarl, Shadow and his clones summon tiny, blue colored bits of mystical flame towards the iron bird. (-4% EP)

    Both attacks collide at nearly the same time. Clones vanish, and the ghostly bits of flame hit into the still wings of the Skarmory, sending him screeching with pain as the fire inflicts identical, painful burns on each steel wing. The Houndoom snickers, even though he too, was hurt by a few of the five-pointed stars. (-3 HP Shadow, -5% EP Skarmory).

    The Skarmory begins to Fly towards the Houndoom at a fast speed, trying to ignore the burning pain in his wings, which are beginning to make flight difficult. Shadow then releases a stream of flames which begin to curl and spin. They’re aimed towards the Skarmory, but he’s already on the defensive, using his new speed and aerial awareness to dodge the flames swiftly (not without a twinge of pain from the burned wings). The flames stop spurting out of the devil-dog’s mouth, leaving a spinning pillar of fire rooted in the spot where the Skarmory used to be. (-5% EP Shadow, - 5% EP Skarmory)

    Shadow snarls as the metal flying-type circles around, talons outstretched as he prepares to land on his back. The canine does not want this to happen – he wants nothing more than to launch the nastiest Flamethrower ever seen right into the Skarmory’s face. But he listens to his trainer’s orders, and stands still. The iron bird lands hard on the dog’s back, gripping on with hard, iron talons that dig into the dark-type rather painfully. (-1% HP Shadow) The Skarmory then brings his head back, launching it with a lot of power and strength, intending to send the opponent’s head reeling. However, the Houndoom is ready, and just as the beak even begins to touch his head with a hammer-like force, the dog Counters. (-7% EP Skarmory, - 7% EP Shadow)

    Surprised beyond all measure, the Skarmory screams as the force of the blow (of the same flying-type attributes and force, I might add) that hits him in the skull, knocking him off the canine’s back and onto the floor in a heap of still and metal. And it’s not over, as the burned wings sear painfully. (-5% HP Skarmory, - 3% HP Houndoom, -3% HP Skarmory)

    Status: Startled by the sudden blow, two painfully burned wings.

    Notes : By ASB definition, Counter delivers the same attack power/element back to the opponent who gave it, thus, as a flying-type attack, Skarmory didn’t take as much damage as normal.

    Edit : Sorry about the similar stat totals. XDXDXD.. I'm not trying to make them purposely that way. I'm a little weirded out about it myself. XD

    Yikes, I almost forgot about this battle (mainly because of Canada day festivities and the fact I spent much of my weekend with my dad), sorry Metalix's Girl!

    Shadow, fight back with another Flamethrower, then use another Double Team to surround the Skarmory, from all sides if possible. Finish with a Fire Spin, making it wide or tight if necessary to hit the armoured bird.

    Sub: If Skarmory comes close to you again, aim a strong stream of Embers at his already burnt wings, or if he tries using any move involving his beak, aim at the beak instead.

    Flamethrower/Ember (if Skarmory comes close to you, aim it for his burnt wings or beak if he's using a beak related attack) ~ Double Team ~ Fire Spin (make it tighter or wider depending on how far away Skarmory is, preferably tight if he's right on target)/Ember (if Skarmory comes close to you, again, aim for his burnt wings or beak if he is using a beak related attack)

    “The round starts off with a loud, metallic roar as Skarmory ascends back into the sky, his screeching call reverberating through the air. Shadow looks up, his ears resting flat against his head as he spots the Skarmory just in front of him, his whole appearance menacing. The fire immediately dies in his throat, and he yelps like a tiny puppy, running away from the iron bird with his tail between his legs.

    The Skarmory smirks, then grimaces as his burnt wings start to throb again from the heavy use. He picks up speed, trying to ignore the pain as a glob of poison starts to rise in his throat. He prepares to spew it, opening his mouth, before he abruptly shuts it for a moment, hesitating. There are six Shadows again, resting at the far end of the arena, all mirroring the same tense appearance.

    Behind them, the old Fire Spin sputters out and dies.

    Skarmory chooses his target once again at random, and the sludgy purple droplets rain down upon the clones. Three are immediately destroyed, the poison splattering on floor. A sudden yelp indicates to the Skarmory that some of the splashed poison has hit its target.

    Whining at the acidic burning on his foreleg, the Houndoom breathes in deeply, sending a spiraling torrent of flames at the Skarmory. The latter tries to avoid it, but his burned wings prevent him from escaping quickly. The fire curls around him in another fiery tornado, singing the already burned bird. The Skamory barely moves, hovering precariously in the eye of the tornado, surrounding on all sides by fire.

    Shadow whines as he feels the painful twinge of poison course through his body, watching with intent eyes the fiery vortex, waiting.

    [color=mediumpurple]Stir up a Sandstorm! It should wipe out the clones so spit more Toxic on Houndoom. If you are allowed, go find a pool of water to cool your poor wings off in. It may not help the burn but it might make you feel better.

    I hihgly doubt this arena has a pool of water in it, but nice try anyway.

    Shadow, Spite the Skarmory's Sandstorm so that we can make him waste a bit more energy (hopefully), then if a Sunny Day can end the Sandstorm, use it, otherwise, try to endure the sand as best as you can. Finish with a Flamethrower aimed right for Skarmory, or if you cannot directly aim it for some reason, try to use it on the dying Fire Spin to see if you can keep it up that way.

    Spite (Skarmory's Sandstorm) ~ Sunny Day (if the move can cancel out the Sandstorm)/endure (if a Sunny Day cannot cancel out a Sandstorm) ~ Flamethrower (aimed directly for Skarmory if possible)

    ~Round 4 Start~

    Shadow, a bit recovered from the Roar last round, eyes the Skarmory a bit nervously as the bird continues to soar the skies. Mustering up his courage with a low growl, Shadow begins to mutter a dark chant, not unlike the Torment the Skarmory had used before. Using all the energy of and malice the Houndoom feels towards the bird, the ghost-type spell is completed.

    Skarmory shudders, suddenly feeling very achy from within the twisting vortex of fire that hurts his metal body. He strains himself to try and summon up the Sandstorm his female trainer commanded. It takes a few more seconds than usual, with a tremendous amount of energy involved to do so. But it comes with rapid ferocity. Durt, bits and pieces of rock, and even a bit of fire swirl about the arena in a mini, low-scale tornado. Nevertheless, the dust scratches and bites the Houndoom’s fur as he tries to endure it as best he can, squinting as he tries to keep track of where the bird is located. To his credit, the devil dog endures it well, but his clones are not so lucky, vanishing, though Shadow barely notices, too preoccupied in bracing his body against the raging sand.

    The Skarmory tries to see through the deserty veil. The Fire Spin, which is being battered about by the wind, recedes enough to allow the Skarmory to escape, though not before being hurt by a few embers flung about by the wind. Skarmory can’t help but squawk in frustration as his own attack seems to be hampering his tactics. Quite unhappy, he coughs up another wad of poison, spitting it into the distance where the Houndoom was. The poison itself gets spread by the Sandstorm, buffeted every which way. A few droplets of the stuff hit the Houndoom’s skin, burning with an acidic edge, but the Houndoom is no worse off than before.

    Growling at the stinging pain the Houndoom opens his eyes a bit more, trying his best to spot the Skarmory out of the thick shroud. He can hear the Skarmory’s frustrated cries as he searches for water – even if there were any, his own Sandstorm would not have helped in the matter. Shadow, feeling a bit more confident, tries to aim at the Skarmory by using the bird’s voice at the target. Inhaling (and choking on a lot of sand and dirt, to a very unpleasant effect that begins to make his throat raw and his lungs hurt) Shadow manages to produce a Flamethrower. It sears through the sand, a lot of its potency lessened by the scratching wind. But by pure luck, it hits the Skarmory in his search, startling the bird to no end as he tries to regain balance in the windy, light brown storm of his own making while his wings twinge painfully. At least the Houndoom is being affected by poison, too, and the Fire Spin has finally died.

    Shadow, there probably isn't much we can do right now while the Sandstorm is dying down, but I want you to try and endure it (as well as anything the Skarmory throws at you on his first action) as best as you can, then, on your second action, if you can, blast the Skarmory with another Flamethrower. Finally, finish with a Double Team.

    Since he's Enduring everything, try placing Spikes in a circle all around his feet. Then use Agility to evade the Flamethrower. After he double teams, Swift them out of exsistance.

    The Sandstorm howls and buffets the opponents as they struggle to see through the sandy veil. The Houndoom is having no luck seeing anything, enduring it as best he can. He stays completely still while the iron Shrike tries to spot the devil dog, but even with his keen bird eyes, he can see nothing. Opening his mouth, he scatters the spikes about, reminding himself they will still do him some good, wherever they land.

    The Sandstorm swirls to an abrupt stop, and both Pokémon take a moment to get the sand out of their eyes, and survey the dusty area before them. It doesn’t take long for both to take off, and the Skarmory narrowly dodges the Houndoom’s flame with Agility.

    Shadow growls at this, looking around and noticing the spikes scattered around him, though a little distance away. He doesn’t move as he conjures another four clones, but they are quickly wiped away by the Skarmory’s swift. Shadow glowers, while the Skarmory smiles victoriously, even though her burn still throbs. Meanwhile, the poison still takes its usual course.

    Okay Shadow, if the Skarmory wants to risk losing most (or all) of his remaining energy, we'll let him do that.

    While doing your best to hold your ground against this big combo, put a nasty Spite on it! With the fact he's combining three moves, it may take a bigger toll on him than if he had comboed only two of those moves, or didn't use a combo at all. Then, simply use a Double Team, finally, if you can, use another Spite on the last move in the combo, Steel Wing, otherwise, take time to chill out and regain some energy.

    Edit: Forgot the summary...

    Spite (the whole combo if possible) ~ Double Team ~ Spite (the Steel Wing part of the combo, since it came last)/chill (if the Steel Wing can't be Spited)

    The Skarmory, screeching aloud a battle cry, dives downward towards the Houndoom, talons bared and wings glowing with a steely white light. Shadow is watching the approaching bird, snarling and cursing, spiting the bird for all he’s worth. Shadow’s snarl turns into a roar as the bird hits in to him, slashing with beak, wing, and claw with savage ferocity, though it’s obvious that Skarmory is under quite a bit of strain.

    Trying to free himself from the barrage of attacks, the Houndoom leaps back, barking as the Skarmory pursues. He only has time to make three clones before he’s forced to bound off again, as Skarmory continues to attack, destroying a clone with a savage beak, and whisking away another with a wing as the bird swings around to locate the devil dog.

    Shadow yelps and slows to a stop as his paws make contact with several sharp, metal spikes that dig into the underpads of his paw painfully. All he can do is stand his ground, hoping the other clone will provide a distraction. The fire-type once more begins scorns and spites the bird as it flies towards him, shrieking like mad. Moments later, the bird strikes, managing to choose the real Houndoom, striking him savagely with beak and claw.

    The glow around Skarmory’s wing fades, and disappointment is wrought upon the bird’s features. Exhaustion begins to seep into the bird’s body at the high-intensity barrage of melee attacks, and the bird can do nothing but stare at his canine opponent until he can get his breath back as the burn and poison take their toll on the respective battlers.

    • The barrage of moves that Skarmory used was extremely powerful, but used a lot of energy, and the spite didn’t help. Also, Skarmory’s speed helped enhance the power of the first barrage of attacks.
    • Even though Aerial Ace is technically an “always hit” move, when combined I didn’t ref it that way.
    • Knight of Time attacks first.

    Okay Shadow, despite all the pain you went through last round, you did good in draining most of Skarmory's remaining energy.

    Swagger the Skarmory so he hopefully cannot take a break, and simply take a break for the rest of the round if he collapses from exhaustion. If your Swagger fails though, Roar at the Skarmory if he takes a break.

      With Skarmory on his last legs, he closes his eyes, breathing deeply and trying to savor his moments of rest. Shadow doesn’t intend to let the Skarmory rest, strutting about in a cocky, arrogant manner, hoping to goad the bird into attacking, and thusly depleting the Skarmory’s lagging energy reserves.

      Skarmory is somewhat annoyed, but to tell the truth, he’s much too exhausted to do anything about it, and with his eyes closed, the Swagger doesn’t have much of an effect. He allows himself to continue resting, and trying to curb down his anger.

      However, fear is stronger than any emotion in the world. Noticing that his opponent is not budging, the devil dog springs forward and lets out a loud, haunting cry. Skarmory’s eyes open in fear and statement, and what he sees is Shadow springing towards him. Skarmory takes off in fear, flying as far away from the devil dog as he can, only landing on the ground when he is satisfied with the distance between him and Shadow.

      Both Pokémon take advantage of the others lack of attacks, relaxing for the remainder of the round, though both wince in pain from their maladies.

    Shadow, this round has to be the last one for your opponent, no questions asked.

    Since your opponent isn't close by, try and drown out the Taunt by closing your eyes and Howling, then, whether you're Taunted or not, go after the Skarmory with a Pursuit, making sure to dodge any spikes on the floor. Finally, if you haven't been Taunted, use a Spite on the Skarmory's Protect or Endure (Protect if possible, otherwise Endure), otherwise, fire a stream of Embers until your opponent collapses from exhaustion. You can do it, Shadow!

    close eyes and Howl to drown out the Taunt ~ Pursuit (while avoiding any spikes as best as possible) ~ Spite (if the Taunt failed)/Ember (if Shadow has been Taunted)

Growling, he dashes off with Pursuit, trying his best to weave his way through the spikes, only hitting one along his way.

      With a long-drawn out howl, the dark-type lunges at the bird, only to be buffeted back by a clear shield surrounding the Skarmory, protecting him from the attack, but severely draining him off energy – of which he has little to loose.

      Panting, the bird clouds himself in a mystical brown aura, in hopes to weather out the round. But Endure does not protect him from energy loss, and the last move proves to be too much of a strain on the metallic battler, and he faints in a crumpled silver heap of metal.

      Shadow smirks at his fallen foe, smiling in devilish delight – so much so he barely feels the poison coursing through his veins, or the pain in his paw where it had touched the unfriendly part of a spike.

    I have a shiny Pokemon of my own, but bringing it out in this battle may not be my best choice.

    Nonetheless, Shadow, first use a Taunt against your new opponent, then let loose with a Flamethrower on her. Finish with a Will-o-Wisp, or if you find your energy is getting close to diminishing, bring on the heat with an intense Overheat instead.

Immediately, the Houndoom begins to Taunt her, his insulting, burning words laced with dark-type magic. The Roselia grits her teeth, willing herself not to listen to the words as she ingrains herself into the ground, the roots digging deep into the turf to regain nutrients.

      With the ingrain in place, she can’t move to attack the Houndoom, so instead she vents her anger with a barrage of tiny, bug-type needles. A Flamethrower meets the attack halfway, incinerating many of the pins, while washing over the Roselia, who can’t evade even if she tried.

      The remaining pins do manage to strike the clone and the real Houndoom. The clone vanishes, while the Houndoom rubs his muzzle in irritation, trying to get the needles out.

      He looks up only to see another barrage coming at him. This time, the aim is true, and each singular pin strikes him. The needles are not powerful, but irritate the dog’s chest and face greatly. He seems to be having a minor allergic reaction, face puffing up where the needles (now wiped away) had hit. Growling, with still some energy to spare, the Houndoom conjures several small, ethereal fireballs.

      Again, Roselia has no where to run, and the Will-o-Wisp hits its target, burning the fragile flower with painful fire, while the Skarmory’s poison still courses through Shadow’s system.

      Tormented -- cannot use the same move twice in a row for the rest of the battle.

      Arena Status: Spikes litter the arena floor in quite a few places.

    All right, Roselia, you might not be able to move, but he shouldn't be able to last much longer. Worsen his poision with Sludge Bomb, Poision Sting and Sludge Bomb.

    If he runs out of range, use Growth and blast him with Solar Beam.

    If he Double Teams use Swift and Sludge Bomb or Solar Beam right afterwards depending on distance.

    I hope that wasn't too many subs, I think she'll be able to understand...I hope...^_^

    Shadow, let's make this a bit easier for your successor if possible.

    Start up a Sunny Day, then conjure your remaining energy to use a massive, searing Overheat on Roselia. Let's see how she likes the intensified heat.

      ~Round 10 Start~

      Shadow, sensing his end just around the corner, is galvanized into action. He closes his eyes, and summons the sun to come and shine forth. The already burning orb blazes into a new, fiery brilliance, littering the ground with its harsh light that seems to not annoy either opponent.

      Twirling as far as her ingrained body will allow, the Roselia tries to worsen the devil dog’s poison by lugging a bomb of poisonous sludge at him. Shadow, trying to save his energy, doesn’t even bother dodging, taking the attack squarely in the chest, and ignoring the onset of poison.

      Taking a deep breath, empowered by the sun, the Houndoom releases a torrent of white-hot flames that supercede all the other fire attacks that the Houndoom has ever used. The conflagration impacts the Roselia with its burning force, setting her leafy body alight with fire as the attack ravages the grass-types body as well as disintegrating the Poison Sting.

      Soon, it fades, and the master who summoned it wobbles on his feet, fainting mere moments later, utterly spent.
