Thread: Saffire Persian vs. Darktyranitar Ref: Elec Man (Sub: Ace64)

Default Saffire Persian vs. Darktyranitar Ref: Elec Man (Sub: Ace64)

First Battle here..heh.. And sorry if the width/height of the cave section is unrealistic in any way.. it's hard to guesstimate.. if it sounds overly absurd to you, tell me, and we can make adjustments.

2 vs 2 - Standard Double Battle
DQ: One Week
I will choose first
Opponent will attack first
Banned Moves: OHKO, Perish Song, Destiny Bond, Substitute, Attract, Mind Reader, Lock-on
Restricted: Only one healing attack per Pokémon (Excludes moves such as Giga Drain, Dream Eater, Leech Life, etc.)
Other: I'd also prefer that no third evolutions are used.
Arena: Origin Cave

The Cave of Origin - rumored to be the place where everything first began. The battle takes place some distance from the entrance. It's far enough away that only a few, dim rays of light can be seen further down the path coming from the cave's opening. Naturally, moves that make use of light are difficult to use here. The ground is rocky in some places, where the more worn parts of the path - traveled by many nameless beings - are oddly smooth. The roof of the cave is dotted here and there by stalactites, while stalagmites are housed near the edges of the pathway - and only the edges, as the main road has been cleared for human exploration. There's enough room to move around in this section of cave, as this part is somewhat circular in shape, ranging to about thirty feet in length, while the height is nearly the same - perhaps a few feet higher. Cleanse Tags surround the arena, pulsing with a holy, white light, notifying the users of the boundary lines and giving very dim, though needed light to help one see by, as well as protecting the battle from unwanted visitors.

Though the arena's area has been cleansed from wild Pokémon, any bold venturer who wanders out of the marked boundaries (Or is forcibly sent there) runs a chance of being attacked by one of the outlying, wild Pokémon, many of which are only being kept back from the Cleanse Tags. Running into or being attacked by one would lead to varying amounts of damage as the user retreats back into the ring, where the wild Pokémon cannot pass.

I'll send out my Skarmory, Vega (Female) and my Gastly, Epik (Male)

Any takers?

Nothing beats a good night sleep... I'm feeling a lot better now! Let's get on with the battle!

Okay, Krush. I want you to use an Ice Beam towards Vega. Then, give her a Flamethrower. Remember; watch out for the attacks aim, in case she begins to take flight. Then, move for a Psychic towards Epik.

Devonian, I want you to launch a Water Pulse towards Epik. Then, give him a Rock Slide. While Krush is attacking Epik, I want you to use an Ice Beam towards Vega.

In case of Hypnosis, Snore. The cave should intensify the snore wave

Krush: Ice Beam (V) ~ Flamethrower (V) ~ Psychic (E)
Devonian: Water Pulse (E) ~ Rock Slide (E) ~ Ice Beam (V)
Sub: Snore if asleep
Please take it easy~

Indeed, nothing does. ^_~ Hopefully I won't totally suck at this. xD

All right Vega, lets try to disrupt the Ice Beam coming towards you with Metal Sound! It should be more effective, as it will probably reverberate off the walls and intensify. If it doesn't effect both opposing Pokémon (though I think it does) Aim it at Krush. THe move should lower defenses nicely, too.

Next, make sure you get a good look at where your opponents are and get moving, don't stay a sitting duck, and release a wide-spread Spike attack to keep them from thinking about going anywhere so you know where to pinpoint them! ... Not like Snorlax is going much of anywhere, but still!

Lastly, do not keep in one spot, but make sure to keep within the defined area, and use Swift! If possible, focus it on both Pokémon, keeping it wide spread - but if it's an attack that can hit only one at a time, aim it at Krush. This move has good accuracy, so you should have a high chance at hitting, even if you may not be able to see with Epik's move he's going to have cast.

Okay, Epik, during the noise, use a nice Toxic attack on Krush. Get as close to him as possible! (Though not in front of him; off to the side!) He's big and he's not going anywhere, so it should be easy to hit it right on. Even if an attack hits you, focus on that Toxic! You should be able to avoid Vega's spikes as you levitate!

Then, erect a Haze , as thick as you can, to help make the accuracy of your opponents horrid! By now, you probably hear a Rock Slide being thrown at you! But it's going to be ill-aimed, so try to dodge by heading upwards. But don't worry too much, as if the attack actually does hit you, it's likely it might strike the Snorlax, too.

You should be upwards by now, so you should remember where, in the general vicinity, Devonian is, so send a nice Thunderbolt his way. I don't know if the damp floor will help the electrical attack connect or not, though, if you miss.

Vega: Metal Sound (if not both, Krush) ~ Spike ~ Swift (If not a two hitter attack, Krush)

Epik: Toxic (Krush) ~ Haze ~ Thunderbolt (Devonian)

Nothing of particular interest

*Battle*
The two trainers arrive at the famed Cave of Origin. They nod to each other and venture inside, traveling to a pre-set battle arena put together for this battle. Arriving at the Cleanse-Tage lined Arena, each trainer pulls out 2 pokeballs. Saffire tosses out her 2 balls, which open to reveal a large Skarmory alongside a floating Ghastly, named Vega and Epik. The 2 appear quite excited for their first battle. Darktyranitar quickly tosses his own pokeballs, which flash open. When the light dies down, 2 rather sturdy looking pokemon are seen. DJ Krush, a large Snorlax, and an ancient Relicanth named Devonian, who is resting on the ground using his pectoral fins. The trainers quickly issue their first commands to their pokemon, who nod in reply.

Normally a very swift attacker, Epik instead decides to wait for his partner to make her move. And she does quite quickly. Vega opens her mouth, letting out a loud metal pinging noise, amplified in her body and then further amplified by the very nature of the arena. As the noise echoes around the arena, Krush covers his ears with his hands, while Devonian and Epik both wince, trying to drown out the sound. Ghastly see's his chance, and quickly floats to Krush. He builds up a glob of particularly volatile poison within his mouth, and quickly spits it onto the large pokemon's face. He groans loudly as the poisonous toxins seep into his blood stream. Now annoyed by the poison more than the noise, the large pokemon sits up. Using his diverse energy reserve, he builds up a signifigant amount of ice energy just outside his mouth, and then lets out a cry as he sends the icy blast toward the noisy bird. The cold blue beam connects, chilling Vega's metallic body and making her end the noise abruptly. As the last remaining echoes die down, Devonian opens his rocky mouth, forming an aquatic orb which he blasts at the ghost. He is forced forward a bit as the watery attack drenches him.

Not interested in being pelted with further attacks, the swift ghost type decides to go on the defensive. Epik blows out a thick purple fog, quite similar to the gas surrounding his own body. As the fog envelops the arena, all combatants struggle to see their surroundings. The Ghastly smiles, hoping this defense will help him avoid further attacks. With only a vague idea of where the opponents are, Vega flaps her large wings. She sends a few dozen small, spiked feathers flying in the opponents general direction, hoping to make any sort of movement difficult for them while moving herself in the process. Indeed, Vega has quite a good idea of where the foes are at, and a few of them even hit the large target that is Krush, sticking into his blubber. He grunts a bit, struggling to see anything. Relying on pure luck, he inhales, and then quickly breaths out a stream of hot flames. The fire illuminates the arena, creating a glowing orange light within the haze, but ultimately manages to hit a bunch of nothing as it slams into a wall well outside the arena barrier. Not sure whether he hit or not, the Snorlax lays back down lazily. Meanwhile, Devonian is also struggling to find a target. Having a vague idea of where that annoying ghost was, he slams his armored head into the ground, breaking off chunks of rock and sending them flying in that direction. Epik hears the ancient fish's action and floats upwards, hoping to avoid the attack, but in the end it was unnessicary, as the rocks crash harmlessly to the ground between Krush and Vega.

The air still quite foggy, but slowly clearing, and Epik surveys the arena, looking for targets. Now not so sure this fog was a good idea, he channels electricity through his body. He launches the bolt down into the fog, hoping to at least hit something. But unfortunately, the bolt slams into the ground, being harmlessly absorbed by the earth. Krush's eyes glow as he actively goes on the attack again. Using psionic power, he searches for his targets mind, and finding it, lets loose a psychic blast toward that location. Though some of the energy was used for location purposes, Epik is nevertheless slamed by a fairly potent attack from the large pokemon. At the same time, Vega again takes to the air, flying around the arena and using the glowing tags as markers. She opens her mouth, letting loose a barrage of star shaped rays, which she sweeps along the arena. Both Devonian and Krush are hit, Krush moreso being a larger target. Her attack finished, Skarmory lands near the boundry, fairly happy. The sturdy Relicanth squints, trying to find a target yet again. Judging from the direction he was hit with the stars, he lets loose an icy beam. But since Vega was moving, its not her final location. And to make matters worse, the freezing attack makes a glancing blow on Krush's arm, coating it in a thin layer of ice.

Both trainers struggle to see what is happening within the fog, each hoping that their pokemon are on top and considering their next actions.

(Ack, sorry. Kingdom Hearts is addicting. XD)

All right, Vega, take to the air again, and try to stay in the ring. Now, I would like you to use Roar at Devonian and try to make him flee out of the arena, if not, at least he'll be a little preoccupied... not to mention he might hit some Spikes along the way. With the Haze fading away, keep in mind the visibility will be a bit better for both sides, so keep alert.

Next, concentrate on doing an Agility and Steel Wing combination. Try to locate the Snorlax (he's a big target, and shouldn't be *too* hard to spot), and try to land a good Steel Wing hit and get away fast, so maybe he won't have the chance to hit you, at least he might not have time to aim his attacks properly.

Next, Epik, since Devonian will very likely be fleeing somewhere, keep your attention on him, if you can. If you manage to see him flee outside of the arena, or see him come back in, use Confuse Ray to try and stun him more, so he'll have trouble thinking of where to go.

Next, I would like you to use a Psychic on the Snorlax, to try to keep his thought processes as hazy as possible, so there's a greater chance Vega's chance will be successful. Finish off with Secret Power at Devonian.

Vega (Skarmory, Female): Roar (Devonian) ~ Agility + Steel Wing (Krush)

Epik (Ghastly, Male): Confuse Ray (Devonian) ~ Psychic (Krush) ~ Secret Power (Devonian)

Krush, Devonian need some lift from you. Lift Devonian up with a Seismic Toss, and yes, throw him right on Vega! Now, I want you to use an Endure to brace both attack from Epik and Vega. Then, give Epik a Shadow Ball.

Okay, Devonian. I want you to let Krush pick you up, and when you manage to hit Vega, use a Double Edge to bring her down. However, if you are intimidated or confused, simply use Harden. Give Epik a Toxic while he use Psychic, and end with a Rock Slide.

Krush: Seismic Toss (Devonian-Vega) ~ Endure ~ Shadow Ball (Epik)

Devonian: Double Edge/Harden (Vega) ~ Toxic (Epik) ~ Ice Beam (Epik)

*Battle*
As the second round of this double battle begins, the trainers quickly issue their commands to their pokemon, each one nodding in reply.

Ghastly floats in the air, waiting for his partner to make a move while at the same time attempting to locate that ancient fish. Vega doesn't waste any time beginning her attack, as she flaps her large steel wings and takes to the air. Being very careful not to pass the glowing area, looks toward where she assumes her opponents to be. Opening her metallic beak, she lets out a loud roar. The noise reverberates off the walls, making it impossible to discern the source. Krush and Devonian, both hearing the intimidating noise, try to figure out where it is. Being the lazy Snorlax he is, Krush decides not to move and lays back down nonchallantly. Devonian, on the other hand, makes for cover. He starts... uh, half running half flopping away, in a direction which happens to be the opposite of where Krush is. A few spikes stick into his underside as he runs, but he ignores them. He finally gets what he thinks is a safe distance away, and notices that the glowing ring is now behind him. As he does, he feels a sharp pain on the upper part of his body, and looks up to see a Golbat, its fangs sunk into his skin. Devonian uses Double-Edge on the bat, striking it repeatedly with his hard head until it flies off back into the depths of the cavern, and then starts making his way back to the glow. Meanwhile, Epik is still searching for his target, but has been thus far unsuccessful. He knows he has to get close enough to the target for it to see the flash of light, or the thinning but still present smog will block it. He finally gives up, a Relicanth being fairly difficult to locate in a rock cave even without the obstruction of vision. Krush is unable to complete his order either, not sure where his fishy partner wandered off too and therefore unable to throw him.

Having had just about enough of this failing because of his own smoke, Epik's eyes shimmer with a blue aura. Using his minor telekinetic skills, he searches for the Snorlax's mind, using the same technique that the large pokemon had previously used on him. Finding a mind basically consisting of "EAT! SLEEP! EAT!", Epik lets off a psychic blast in that direction. But even as he does, Krush is bracing himself, hoping to ward off any attacks coming his way. He groans as the psychic blast wreaks havoc on his mind, though the effects are indeed diminished. Vega, still fluttering her wings in the air, hears the soft groaning. Squinting her rather keen eyes, she sees a large round shape. Smiling, she dives toward it, channeling extra metal energy into her wings, which glisten. At the same time, she also focuses on her speed, boosting it as she flies. The Skarmory soars through the air ever increasing speed, and getting near, she turns sideways to let her wing get a nice blow. The metal bird scrapes her metallic wing across Krush's stomach, creating a gash which drips crimson blood, and using her agility quickly retreats back into the thinning cloud of haze. Krush does manage to lessen the pain of the attack, though at that speed it wasn't quite as effective as it may have been otherwise. As Devonian finally finds his way back into the ring, he looks up through the gas to see a black sillouette in the air. Not wanting to give the ghost a chance to escape, he builds up a toxic blob in his mouth, and lifs his head up as he lets it fly toward Gastly. It makes a direct hit, however Gastly's poisonous body does not allow the poison to take effect.

The smog cover in the arena now merely a thin mist, the combatants can more or less readily make one another out. Epik's eyes glow pure white as he sends a faint beam of energy down into the ground. Suddenly, a single rock spire, surrounded by the light, bursts out of the ground and speeds toward Devonian. He lowers his hard head as the powerful attack smashes into him, sending him flying back a few feet. It then sinks back into the ground as if the attack never happened. Vega continues to stay airborne, ready to use her speed to dodge any possible incoming attacks. But neither opponent intends to aim for her... Krush raises his head lazily, still looking as calm as ever as he holds his hands together, the ice melted off by now. He begins to gather an orb of ghostly energy between then, and then he whips one hand forward, sending the blueish orb flying toward Epik as he lets his head fall back to the ground. His attention still on Devonian, the gaseous spectre gets slammed hard by Snorlax's attack, sending him reeling back as he lets out a pained cry. The ancient pokemon takes the opportunity well, quickly smashing his head into the rocky ground, cracking off rocks as he whips his head up, sending them flying at Epik as well, knowing the he can't hit both unless they're close together. A few of the rocks fall short of Gastly, who is fairly high in the air, but most of them make contact, each one flying through his ghostly form and causing it stress. The ghost winces under the assault, until it finally ends.

Almost all of the smog now cleared, the combatants have a much better chance of a good fight, and they contemplate their next moves.

Krush, move for a Fire Blast towards Vega. Then, Flamethrower. End with a Refresh to remove the Toxic.

Fire Blast (V) ~ Flamethrower (V) ~ Refresh

Devonian, quickly move near Krush and set up a Safeguard for both of you. Attack with a Rock Slide, followed with a Hydro Pump, both towards Epik. Try to blow the spikes at him with the two attack.

Safeguard ~ Rock Slide (E) ~ Hydro Pump (E)

Remember this, Krush and Devonian. Try to walk between the spikes, rather than over them.

Hey Saffire, guess it's time for me to remind you... it's a day past the DQ.

However, don't DQ this match yet, Elec. I know this is partly my fault for unable to post the attack for 5 days, so let's wait a bit longer.
Please take it easy~

Default Re: Saffire Persian vs. Darktyranitar Ref: Elec Man EXE

My apologies. o.0 I thought the DQ wasn't up until later... odd... Though you're probably right. Sorry. ^^' I should just post as soon as I see an update.

===

All right, Epik, you're up first this time. While Devonian's setting up that Safeguard, take that time of respite to use Giga Drain on Devonian to try and gain back some life. With him concentrating, you won't have to worry about an attack from him for now. Maybe you can even disrupt the attack with that Giga Drain, who knows. Oh, try to float farther up, so the Rock Slide will have a harder time hitting you - as it doesn't seem like he can throw too high.

Next, quickly send a Sludge Bomb Krush's way. I know they will be protected from being poisoned by Safeguard if it's set up, but that shouldn't stop it from doing damage. Try to aim it right down the Snorlax's throat or at the cut on his stomach - whichever you feel more confident doing. If you get it down Snorlax's throat, it might just distract him from that Fire Blast/Flamethrower, as I doubt it's very easy to blow out something when you have that sludgy stuff down your throat. If you feel you can't make it, aiming for the ] gash on his stomach will suffice, as if the attack comes in contact with it, maybe it'll make it sting and disrupt the Snorlax's concentration -- he can't be too comfortable with it anyway.

Lastly, since darktryranitar ordered the two Pokemon to stay close together send a Thunderbolt at them. Aim for Devonian, but with them so close together you might just get both of them. Watch out for that Hydro Pump, too.

All right, Vega, use Double Team to try and dodge that Fire Blast/Flamethrower coming your way. Try to keep behind that Snorlax instead of in front of him, as, being as big as he is, I think he'd have trouble turning around/aiming behind him with that head and big body -- not to mention that uncomfortable gash on his stomach. With the added speed you have, it should help.

Next, lets try to get the air on our side a little bit. Use Air Cutter . You should be able to hit him, but aim at his Stomach to try and aggravate the wound further.

Now, after that, you shouldn't be fearing an assault from either Pokémon so wait until Epik sends his Thunderbolt attack. Once it's over, rush in with a Steel Wing and fly off. You have more time for a harder hit, so use it while Snorlax's Refreashing.

Epik (Gastly, Male): Giga Drain (Devonian) ~ Sludge Bomb (Krush) ~ Thunderbolt (Devonian)

Wow, this post sunk fast. Hopefully I'll actually be able to get the reffing done this time, last time I tried to ref this round I ended up getting an error and lost the thing

Status: A few spikes stuck into his belly
Safeguard ~ Rock Slide <Epik> ~ Hydro Pump <Epik>

Arena Status: Fog is almost completely cleared, Krush still surrounded by spikes

*Battle*
The trainers carefully consider their attacks, and quickly shout them to their pokemon. The 4 combatants nod in reply, each hoping to prove themselves.

Vega and Epik act first, both quite a bit faster than their opponents. While Epik swoops down toward Devonian, Skarmory closes her eyes and concentrates. A duo of clones flash into existance beside her, and she opens her eyes and grins, hoping the clones will guard her. As Epik reaches the ancient fish, who is slowly making his way over to his partner, he envelops him with his gaseous form. Gastly's eyes glow as a green aura surrounds the fish, draining health from him as he groans. Small orbs of bright energy are pulled to Epik's body, and he feels slightly rejuvinated. Attack done, he hovers high into the air, while Devonian focuses on defending. A white light radiates out of his body, covering both Relicanth and his large partner. It disperses shortly, but both pokemon still exude a very faint glow. Krush slowly sits up, eyeing his steel target. He deeply inhale, building up a fiery energy in his mouth before letting out a loud cry, sending the ball of searing flames toward the bird. In mid air, the ball bursts into the shape of a kanji, heating the air as it flies. The hot attack makes contact with 2 of the Skarmory, which both disappear without a trace. Vega breaths a sigh of relief as the flames continue on and slam into the wall harmlessly. Utilizing her last boost of speed, Vega quickly takes to the sky and flies over Krush, landing behind the large Snorlax.

Floating above the arena, Epik begins building up a poison attack in his mouth. It doesn't take long before he spits out the poison projectile at impressive speed, right toward Krush. The large pokemon lets out a loud groan as the attack splatters all over his stomach, and into the wound previously made by Vega. The barrier prevents the toxins from entering his body, but the fairly acidic liquid causes plenty of pain to the open wound despite that. Vega, still behind him, flaps her wings violently, sending out a triangular blast of concentrated wind. Much like Epik's attack, the wind blast hits Krush's wound, blowing the sludge away but causing the big lug even more pain. He slowly stands up, rubbing the wound as he turns toward Vega, in pain but determined to exact some revenge. He steps on a few of the spikes around him and groans, but continues to turn. He blows out a stream of hot flames, unexpectedly fast. As the flames engulf Skarmory, she lets out a squak, feeling the flames scorching her metallic body. At the same time, Devonian slams his head into the ground, loosening more rocks before flinging them toward Gastly. They have little trouble reaching the ghost, though they are a bit weaker from having to fly so high. As each rock passes through his ethereal form, he grunts.

As the rock assault finally dies down, Epik gets ready for another attack. His body sparks furiously as he builds up an electric current, and then sends a strong bolt of electricity down toward the rock fish. The powerful electricity courses through Relicanth, and a few sparks dance along the floor and give Krush a few mild shocks as well. However, the attack itself is weakened by the wet floor, the current flowing to the ground instead of staying on Devonian. As the sparks die down, Skarmory flaps her metal wings and takes flight, body visibly blackened by the fiery assault earlier. She quickly swoops toward Krush, wings glimmering with steel energy. The large bird flies beside the large pokemon, slashing his side with her wing as she goes by. She gracefully lands, while Krush focuses. Ignoring the new wound, his body glows as it purges itself of the poison. He sighs contently as Devonian builds aquatic energy within his maw. With a cry he fires out a powerful stream of water toward the floating ghost, and Gastly cries out as the water washes through him. It continues on and hits the roof of the cave, covering it with water which causes a bit of a psuedo-rain, the ceiling now dripping wet.

Each combatant bears their own battle scars now, but none of them are ready to give up yet. They look to their trainers, awaiting their next orders anxiously.

... Skarmory so needs a better movepool. XD

========

All right, Vega, fly upwards near the top of the cave and use Swift to attack from above. Hopefully that'll provide some means of distraction. Be ready to fly out of the way and dodge though when any attacks come at you. Next I want you as you dive down through the air to use Air Cutter (aim at the Snorlax's face) and once you come close to him, use Steel Wing to finish off. Only land once all attacks have been completed.

Gastly, while Vega is using that move to distract, dart in quickly (you won't be hit by Swift as you are a Ghost-Type) and use Astonish on Devonian, try to scare the heck out of him. Then, surround his face and use Giga Drain . Keep your own body surrounding him, as, according to the Pokédex, the stuff that makes you up is hard to breathe through. This'll make it hard for him to attack, and you surrounding him will make anyone else who's thinking of attacking you think twice. As if it hits you, it'll more than likely hit him. Finish off with with a mind-scrambling Psychic . And Gastly, if Devonian uses Protect during any of your last two attacks and succeeds, and there's an attack coming at you, Protect also.

Vega (Skarmoy, Female): Swift (all) ~ Air Cutter (Snorlax) ~ Steel Wing (Snorlax)
Epik (Gastly, Male): Astonish (Relicanth) ~ Giga Drain/Protect (Relicanth) ~ Psychic/Protect (Relicanth)

Hmm...

Devonian, I want you to close your eyes and relax. What you can’t see can’t hurt you. Then, as Epik come close, use a Hydro Pump. Hopefully, the jet of water will be powerful enough to blow him away. End with a Calm Mind to ready yourself for the psychic blast.

Okay, Krush. Now that leaves you to deal with Vega. Start by using Block to protect Devonian from being hit. Then, use Psychic to attack his mind when he throws down an Air Cutter. Hopefully it would hit him before he could fly up. Counter the last Steel Wing.

Devonian: Relax (eyes closed) ~ Hydro Pump (Epik) ~ Calm Mind

Krush: Block (Swift) ~ Psychic (Vega) ~ Counter (Vega)

Swift actually WOULD hit a Ghost type (the way I ref it, anyway) because even though normal in type its still energy, and ghosts are only immune to the physical form, not energy.

*Battle*
The battle is proceeding at a lightning pace, and both trainers are eager for a win. They issue their commands to the respective pokemon, who nod and quickly take action once more.

As Vega takes to the air, flying toward the ceiling (which is still dripping with water), Epik swoops in on Devonian. The fish closes his eyes, trying to block the suprise factor. Gastly swoops down, dealing a light tackle to the fish while at the same time making a suprisingly frightening face. The suprise factory is easily blocked, of course, by Relicanth not looking. Vega, meanwhile, nears the top of the cave. The Skarmory opens her mouth and starts firing a barrage of yellow star-rays toward her 2 opponents. The large sleeping pokemon, moving suprisingly fast, quickly jumps in front of his ally Devonian. Using his bulk to block the attack, Krush grunts as each star impacts his body, leaving the fish (and Epik) safe from harm.

The steel bird continues her assault quickly, flapping her wings in such a way that she will create a blast of air pressure. At the same time, Epik's eyes glow once more, causing a green aura to surround Relicanth yet again. He winces as energy is pulled from his body in the form of orbs, each one flying to Gastly and being subsequently absorbed into his body. As Skarmory sends the blast of air toward Krush, the large Snorlax's eyes glow blue. Krush gets blasted in the face with the burst of air, causing a bruise across his face. He does his best to block out the pain, continuing to try and attack back. The large pokemon has some trouble penetrating Skarmory's steel shell, but once he gets in he proceeds to wreak havok with Vega's mind. She squaks, struggling to keep airborne under the psionic assault. While Krush assaults the large bird, Devonian builds up a large amount of water in his mouth, before firing the blast close-range at Gastly. As the hydrolic attack passes through him, he grunts loudly, causing him damage despite not making any real physical contact.

Now quite annoyed, Epik's eyes glow brightly with a blue tint, as he penetrates the ancient fish's head. Devonian has a plan, however. He concentrates on calming his mind, making it much harder for the phantom to cause him pain in that way. The effect is lessened signifigantly by this, and in the process the Relicanth also achieves a greater focus on special attacks. While this happens, Vega is swooping down toward the large sleeping pokemon. Her wings glint with a metallic energy, and she lets out a war cry, ready to inflict some pain. Krush stands up and calmly stands there. His body is emitting a faint blue glow, though Skarmory doesn't quite grasp what this means. As Vega grows near, she veers sideways, intending to slash the huge pokemon with her wing. Suddenly, she hits an unknown force and feels a powerful blow hit her. The blow sends her crashing to the ground with a suprised crow. She slowly stands up, staring questioningly at the Snorlax and wondering what just happened.

The round closes in this way, each pair of pokemon seemingly continuing their fights with a single opponent.

Swift hurt ghost Pokemon? Hmm, never thought of that...

Let’s keep up attacking Epik, Devonian. Give him an Ice Beam, followed by Water Pulse. End with an Icy Wind. If she tries a close-range attack, or any status affecting move (sleep, poison etc), use an Ice Beam attack.

Now Krush, start with a Thunderbolt, followed by Flamethrower. If she’s too high up, use Psychic instead. End with relaxing.

Devonian: Ice Beam (Epik) ~ Water Pulse (Epik) ~ Icy Wind (Epik)
Sub: Ice Beam

Krush: Thunderbolt/ Psychic (Vega) ~ Flamethrower/ Psychic (Vega) ~ Relax

All right, Vega, you're up first. I want you to make sure you fly as high up as possible, so that Krush will use his Psychic on you. Now, it'll take a little more time to work with your psychic-resistance, so during that time, use Torment on that Snorlax. Keep yourself as high as you can so he'll use Psychic -- or rather, try to, since he couldn't with the Torment going on. Keep up there until he tries to use it and fails, then take your chance and dive down and use Drill Peck on him -- his head preferably - give him a nice, big headache to think about, as soon as you're finished - fly straight up and stay up there until Devonian his last attack, then land behind him and hit him with a hard Steel Wing -- the Snorlax'll be relaxing, so you don't have to worry about him.

Okay, Epik, it's time to protect yourself from his little attacks. Summon up a Protect to shield you from the Ice Beam. If you're really, really close to Devonian, stay there. If for some reason your up away from him, get closer while you have that shield up. Then, summon up a Sludge Bomb and when Devonian starts to open his mouth for that Water Pulse attack, launch the Sludge Bomb right down his throat -- you might not be able to poison him, but generally you can't easily do anything when you've got something slimy, sticky, and clogged in your throat -- be quite... stressful really. Hopefully he'll be distracted choking on and trying to get rid of that sludge for you to get behind him, and preform your last attack: Giga Drain to keep preying on his water/rock-type weaknesses.

Vega (Skarmory, Female): Torment (Krush) ~ Drill Peck (Krush) ~ Steel Wing (Devonian)

Epik (Gastly, Male): Protect ~ Sludge Bomb (Devonian) ~ Giga Drain (Devonian)

I'm sorry to say, but this is going to be my last reffing. I'll be going on vacation on Friday, and I'm not sure if I'll have time to do anything tommorow. I don't get back till the 26th of July (or thereabouts, not 100% sure), so I'll try and find a subref to finish the battle up.

*Battle*
Within the damp Cave of Origins, 2 trainers shout commands to each of their duo of pokemon. All combatants acknowledge the orders, and they look anxious as round 5 begins.

Vega the Skarmory, with a few flaps of her metallic wings, takes to the air, flying up to the highest point in the cave. At the same time, Epik focuses energy around his body, forming it into a physical barrier surrounding himself. As the translucent barrier shimmers, Devonian readies and icy assault. He opens his mouth, building up a boosted amount of ice energy between his rocky jaws. With a cry he fires off a particularly powerful beam, radiating a cold energy. As the beam makes contact with Gastly's shield, it quickly freezes the barrier over at the point of impact, creating a sizable chunk of ice. But as the attack dies down, the shield dissipates and the chunk of ice falls harmlessly to the ground. The gaseous ghost grins as Krush's eyes are glowing blue. He once again pierces the steel shell encasing Vega's mind, and begins prodding it with psionic pokes. But before he does, Vega's eyes glow a murky color, as she places a curse on the large pokemon. Though unnoticed at the time, Krush is briefly surrounded by a dark aura, which soon sinks into his body.

The large Krush chuckles to himself, seeing the discomfort that he's put Skarmory into with his psychic assault. With a yawn, he gets ready to continue his attack. As he tries to focus his own mind on a psychic power, he strangely finds himself unable to perform such a feat. Something unknown is blocking his concentration on that particular attack. He puzzles, scratching his head. Her plan successful, the metal bird tucks in her wings and swoops down toward the confused pokemon. Around her beak, she focuses a good deal of flying energy, which spins around rapidly, akin to a drill. Vega lands next to Snorlax and, with a crow, jabs her energized beak right into the head of her opponent. Krush lets out a loud grunt as he feels the strike against his skull, holding his head. Meanwhile, Epik builds up a viscuous poison glob within his mouth, and patiently waits for a target. The ancient fish opens his mouth and starts building water energy from his body into his mouth. Gastly knows he's to target the fish's mouth, but its a rather small target. Trying his best, he launches the poison bomb at Devonian. The attack hits, but not its intended target. The sludge ball splatters over Relicanth's armored head, not causing a great deal of damage in the process. Still focusing on his attack, Relicanth fires off a watery orb. As the water passes through Gastly, he shudders as his ghostly form is further damaged.

Still near Krush, Vega quickly takes to the sky once more, hanging high in the air and awaiting Relicanth's move to attack. As Snorlax continues holding his head, trying to block out the pain and conserving energy, Epik hovers behind the rock fish, preparing to drain him of energy yet again. Devonian senses the intention of a close range attack and begins slowly turning himself around, all the while building up for another icy assault. Gastly is easily able to attack the slow moving fish, his eyes glowing as orbs of green energy are drawn from the fish's body. He grins as he feels slightly better off, only to get an icy beam to the face. The cold energy blast passes through his body, chilling him and further damaging the ghost. As Relicanth finishes his attack, he grins, hoping to make that ghost think twice about draining him again. Vega, meanwhile, has seen Devonian's attack, and quickly takes action. She swoops down, wings again gleaming with steely energy. Twisting around in midair, she brings one wing to bear against the Relicanth, tearing across his body as she flies near to the ground. With a long screech she circles back around and lands behind the long-lived pokemon.

The ancient fish seems to be in quite a pickle at this point, Gastly on one side and Vega on the other. To make matters worse, the aura protecting both Devonian and his partner fades, both now vulnerable to status effects once more. Krush doesn't seem to care, though, as always relaxed and lazy.

Thanks for the sub-ref, Ace, and thanks for the reffing you did so far Elec Man.

=====

It looks like it won't be long before the match is decided. So here we go.

Vega, keep to the side of Devonian, so if Krush launches another one of those beam attacks he's quite fond of, it has a chance at nailing the Relicanth, too. Strike him (the Relicanth) with a nice Steel Wing and fly off. Lets try and keep high near the ceiling, and aim another Air Cutter at the Snorlax and end with a Swift on both.

Epik use your Toxic attack on Devonian, and follow up with a Confuse Ray on Krush. Back up into the air to make way for Vega's attack and use Thunderbolt on Devonian. Oh, and if by chance the Relicanth decides to use Safeguard to protect himself and his partner from status attacks before your chance at Confuse Ray comes around, use Giga Drain and Thunder on each of the opponents respectively.

Vega (Skarmory, Female): Steel Wing (Devonian) ~ Air Cutter (Krush) ~ Swift (Both)
Epik (Gastly, Male): Toxic/Giga Drain (Devonian) ~ Confuse Ray/Thunder (Krush) ~ Thunderbolt (Devonian)

Same here. Thanks to both ref for reffing this match. Now, let's get on with this!

Okay, Devonian. I know that this is what Epik is waiting for, but set up a Safeguard you both you and Krush. Then, follow up with a Hydro Pump towards Epik, followed by an Ice Beam.

Krush, wait until Epik is about to use Giga Drain, and then fire a mind-scrambling Psychic attack. Hope that will take his attention from draining Devonian’s HP. Then, fire a Thunderbolt towards Vega. End with a Psychic to Epik.

Devonian: Safeguard ~ Hydro Pump (Epik) ~ Ice Beam (Epik)

Grudgingly, a sub-ref by the name of Ace (model 64) steps in to take the place of the esteemed Elec Man. This reffing is essentially free, and cannot be added to approved reffing. The points he was given in return (already spent) have long been forgotten. So, he supposes (sigh) he will do this from the goodness of his heart.

Devonian concentrates, forming a translucent shield of energy over himself and DJ Krush! (-6% energy) The Safeguard shimmers, before fading away, its effects unnoticed. Just as the fish finishes, Vega (Street Fighter?) swoops low and slaps the rock-fish across the stones with a hard left wing, before flying back to the ceiling. (9% damage, -5% energy)Not content with leaving a fish out of water alone, Epik floats toward him, an eerie green glow in his face. He battens on the Relicanth like a lecherous lover, beginning to sap energy at an alarming rate. (10% damage, -6% energy, +5HP) However, his feeding is interrupted by a bolt of purple mental energy from Krush, sending him spinning away. (11% damage, -6% energy)

Vega, being swiftest, banks back towards the Snorlax, who is an easy target. She brings her wings forward at supersonic speeds, 'cutting' the air and sends thin strips of energy towards Krush, which slice into his flabby skin. (7% damage, -4% energy) Krush grunts, but raises a hand in retaliation. He focuses the essence of 'Normal' into his palm, before releasing an electric charge, which streaks upward to strike the Skarmory. Vega shrieks in pain, losing some altitude as he recovers from the pain. (9% damage, -5% energy) Devonian flops about on the ground, angry at being forgotten. Aiming with one eye, he spits a large stream of water at Epik, which passes through the ghost harmlessly. It is the elemental nature of the attack which has an effect, though. (14% damage, -7% energy) Epik cries out in pain, his substance fading but holds on long enough to fire an even bigger electric blast at Krush. The Snorlax groans, his belly feeling red-hot and tingly. (12% damage, -7% energy)

Epik, his dead cells already charged up from his last blast, fires an electric burst aimed at Devonian. The Relicanth wriggles and shakes, frying in his juices at the power of the blast. (9% damage, -6% energy) Angered, the fish counters with a frosty beam of sub-zero power, which doesn't freeze the ghost, but chills him mighty fine. (9% damage, -4% energy) Vega, recovering from his cell-shock, rises once more and spits a burst of stars, which home in on both Pokemon. (6% damage, -6% energy) Krush bears the blow, but Devonian flops once and falls still, unconscious. Saddened to see his friend fall, Krush releases a huge burst of psychic power at Epik, which proves to be too much to bear. The ghost shrinks to a fraction of his former self, exhausted.

Okay, good job Devonian. At least we manage to bring down Epik.

Okay, DJ Krush! I want you to use one final Body Slam and Earthquake combo, and then I’ll call you back. Good job, DJ Krush!

Body Slam + Earthquake

Hehe... what's with the 'DJ Krush!', eh Ace?

Anyway, just because I want to say it...

DJ Krush!

Last round was like..wow.

=====

I guess it's time to end this. Keep in the air above DJ Krush! and use Air Cutter . If that doesn't finish him off, Swift , followed by another if by some miracle he still has HP.

Vega (Skarmory, Female) Air Cutter ~ Swift ~ Swift

*Battle*
Try as he might, DJ Krush! is at an impasse. His brow furrows into a frown as he contemplates the situation. Vega is showing no signs of coming down, so he can't crush her beneath his girth. So instead he settles for sitting up, then crashing back to the ground, creating an Earthquake.(-5% energy) Zubats shriek as the ceiling shakes, knocking large stalactites loose from their bindings. One rock nails Vega in the head, and she squawks in pain despite her covering. (7% damage) Eager for revenge, she whips her wings forward, releasing thin strips of air towards Krush! (7% damage, -4% energy) This time, the attack proves too much for him. Krush! falls back into a stupor, already snoring. As he is returned, Vega swoops down for a landing, cawing in victory.

Nice battle, guys. I followed some of this- good strategies.
Saffire earns 4 points.
Elec Man earns 4 points.
Darktyranitar recieves 2 points.
I get a warm feeling in my heart, and a nickel I stole from Elec.

Yep, what a nice battle, Saffire! It was my first 2 VS 2 battle.

Oh... hate to say this... but the point might be only 2-2-1. I'm not too sure though, I think I saw the standard points receive for this type of battle somewhere else... but I might be mistaken.

Crap. I think you're right Faiz. You only used two Pokemon, so the winner recieves that amount and the loser recieves half of that. So-

SP- 2 points
DT- 1 point

SF, you've only spent one point so far, so you should be alright if you post the new reward. Just blame it on me.

Yes, but I think this type of match would be a tag team fight, since you had both Pokemon out at the same time.

Winner and Ref gets however many Pokemon were used on their side and loser gets half of that (in a DQ or forfeit though, at least 2 Pokemon have to be at the mark for the winner and ref to get their points (in a standard tag team))

Ah, I see. o.0 So you get the same amount of points you would had you done just a 1-1 even though you had two Pokémon and defeated two? That seems odd to me. Meh ^^' But no harm done, I guess. I'll go get it corrected.
