Here are the rules:

Four pokemon total, one at a time. HOWEVER, we are only allowed to use pokemon that are in their first evolutionary stage. Young pokemon only.

Disallowed moves: Rest, Attract, Substitute, Persish Song, Destiny Bong, Toxic, and Thunder Wave. (If you insist on using any of these moves, I will not battle you.)

DQ Time: One week.

We PM our first pokemon to the ref, so that neither one can intentionally get type advantage.

Arena: The top of Mt. Pyre. As players of Ruby and Sapphire know, this is hallowed ground, where the keys to keeping Kyogre and Groudon are kept. The wildlife consists mostly of Ghost Pokemon, with a few Chimecho.

The young Trainer known as Blademaster lays lazily against a rock atop Mt. Pyre, glancing languidly up at the sky. Life is hectic, and every now and then, it's good for him to get away...

Unfortunately, the youth doesn't seem like he'll be getting any rest today - not far from where Blade is laying down, 2 new Trainers have arrived, seeking a battle: the wise and somewhat shady (living up to his moniker) Dark Sage, and his challenger, the quite confident Chris Watarimono, who smirks cockily at DS as he sends out his Swablu, Joann.

DS, unimpressed, responds with his Charmander, Blast; Blade sighs, realizing he'll get no rest until the battle ends. He steps up to ref, opening a can of Coke and taking a drink as DS and Chris shout their first sets of orders. Blast and Joann nod and face each other...

Blast starts off by closing his eyes and focusing his chi, glowing a soft white. Two clones appear at either side of him, smiling and taunting Joann. Blast seems to have an advantage now...

Not! Joann, sensing Blast's biggest weakness, begins to chirp and dart through the air majestically, attempting to summon rain. Her wish is seemingly granted as dark clouds gather over the already-spooky mountain, sending a heavy rain cascading down over the arena.

Blademaster frowns irritably as he's struck by the rain; he sends out his Ralts, Phoebe, who casts a psychic shield over the two of them, repelling the rain.

Blast, however, isn't so happy - the rain is not only quite unpleasant for him as a Fire-type, but also the heavy droplets are causing his duplicates to ripple and fade, making it quite easy for Joann to find the real Charmander...

Blast opens his mouth and exhales a blast of fiery energy, which the rain tears through very easily, weakening the stream. It slams into Joann, who squawks as she's seared, but she shakes the attack off pretty easily and glows a soft blue, darting forward and slamming head-first into Blast. The Lizard Pokemon is knocked back a few feet, and his clones vanish completely as his concentration is shattered by Joann's Aerial Ace.

The small Fire-type growls in frustration and exhales again, this time sending out a bluish flame that rips over the field, not slowed at all by the rain, and crashes into Joann. The bird screeches and flies back, but she quickly recovers; her eyes glow white as she repeats Blast's move exactly, blasting her own Dragon Rage forward which envelops Blast and burns at his skin. Fire-type or not, Dragon attacks can still burn him as well as any other Pokemon, and Joann knows it...

I am kinda confused how a dampened Flamethrower does more damage than an Aerial Ace. Still, thanks for taking up the reffing Blade.

As for Round 2...Joann, start off with an Agility to zoom around the field. Then sweep in with an Aerial Ace. Secret Power from a distance to end your phase.

Dark Sage and Chris Watarimono continue their ferocious battle here atop Mt. Pyre. Joann, Chris' Swablu, has created a heavy rainstorm above the peak, causing much misery for Dark Sage's poor Charmander, Blast.

Not to be deterred, Dark Sage shouts his commands to Blast, as does Chris to his Swablu. Blast and Joann nod and face each other again...

Joann starts the round off by taking to the air and zipping to and fro, speeding up her heartrate and increasing her speed by a decent amount.

But Blast isn't paying attention - he instead has closed his eyes and is focusing once again, but not on himself this time. A bubble of fiery energy rises from his napalm-producing tail and rises up into the sky, burning through the rain clouds and then exploding, driving away all traces of the storm. Blast sighs in relief as warm sunlight shines down on the arena, amplified by the heat of Blast's blast.

Blademaster, seeing the rain has stopped, recalls Phoebe, causing the psychic shield around him to disappear.

Meanwhile, Joann has built up her speed to the point that she's little more than a blur speeding through the air; she quickly banks and dive-bombs Blast, knocking him back 10 feet with her blunt beak. Joann may not be too big, but at 100+ miles an hour, she doesn't need to be now...

Blast gets up and shakes his head, before repeating his original attack; he glows a soft white, and a clone appears to either side of him, giving him an apparent advantage...

Joann, not to be intimidated, focuses herenergy, preparing to use a powerful attack. A white glow eminates from her eyes, and then, she opens her beak and spits forth a beam of shimmering white light at the middle Charmander, vaporizing it. Seems that was a fake...

Blast, seeing his opportunity, opens his mouth and exhales a searing stream of fire that is amplified by the heat and the sunlight. The blast of fire slams into Joann, who squawks in pain as her body is seared.

Dark Sage and Chris Watarimono continue their ferocious battle here atop Mt. Pyre. Blast, Dark Sage's Charmander, has made things very hot here at the mountaintop, giving him and Dark Sage a distinct advantage.

Unfazed, Chris shouts shouts his commands to Joann, as does Dark Sage to his Charmander. Blast and Joann nod and face each other again...

Using her increased speed to her advantage, Joann starts the round off by taking to the air and making a silent plea to Kyogre for rain.

Blast, meanwhile, is focusing on renewing his Double Team clones. He glows a soft white as 2 more duplicates appear on either side of him and his remaining copy. Blast smiles confidently - the score is 4 against 1 now...

Just then, however, it seems that Joann's prayer has been answered - dark clouds roll over the mountaintop; thunder resounds as a heavy rainstorm douses the field, causing Blast's 3 clones to warp and blur as they're struck.

Blademaster shoots a dirty look at Chris from the corner of his eye and sends Phoebe back out; the Feeling Pokemon renews her Psychic shield, protecting her Trainer and herself from the rain.

Blast, realizing he's lost his advantage, tries a different tactic - he closes his eyes and focuses on the ground around him. Several rocks glow with thin blue aurae as they uproot themselves, surround Blast and his clones, and then launch outward in a circle, striking Joann and knocking her out of the sky.

Joann squawks angrily and gets back up, her eyes glowing a faint blue as she mirrors Blast's last attack exactly. Several large rocks spin around her and then launch forward, slamming into Blast and knocking him back 5 feet. His concentration wrecked, Blast can no longer maintain his 3 duplicates, which flicker and disappear.

Blast groans and gets to his feet, but e is quickly struck and knocked back down to the rough ground as Joann Body Slams him, using her high speed to strengthen her attack. The angry Charmander gets up and inhales deeply, before firing a blue gout of flames at Joann. The blast tears right through the rain and slams Joann head-on, sending her spinning through the air. Joann rights herself and swoops back down, eyes locked with her opponent...

Suddenly, Blast hears a hissing sound behind him. He turns and sees the flame on his tail is being pelted by the rain, causing it to shrink to half its size! Blast whimpers and grabs his tail, holding the flame under his chin so as to shield it from the icy raindrops.

Using her increased speed to her advantage, Joann starts the round off by taking to the air and zipping about the mountain, increasing her speed as much as she can before diving at Blast.

Meanwhile, Blast has closed his eyes and released another glowing ball of fire and light from his tail into the sky, when suddenly he is slammed by the dive-bombing Joann yet again. Blast growls and gets to his feet...

And then, to Chris' and Joann's dismay, the storm clouds overhead disperse as Blast's blast blasts, revealing a bright Sun casting its life-giving warmth onto the summit.

Joann squawks and closes her eyes, calling upon her ancestors' dragonic abilities... She opens her eyes, and then she launches a bright white beam from her beak that crashes into Blast. The Charmander cries out as the beam tears through him, causing his muscles to tense and lock up.

Blast struggles to open his mouth; he exhales a stream of searing-hot flames from his throat, blasting Joann with a veritable bazooka of fiery energy. Joann squawks as her wings are burnt; she quickly loops through the air to extinguish the flames, building speed at the same time, and then she swoops in and tackles Blast, knocking the numbed Charmander on his back. Blast pants softly, feeling like a rag doll as he lays on the mountainside, utterly helpless...

Both Trainers shout their commands; Blast and Joann nod and face each other again...

Using her increased speed to her advantage, Joann starts the round off yet again, but instead of taking to the air, she opens her beak and begins to chirp a soothing melody...

Blast, meanwhile, has finally gotten to his feet; he closes his eyes and focuses on his own dragonic ancestry, summon his power as best he can. Blast opens his eyes, and then he shoots a beam of white energy from his mouth that slams right into the Singing Swablu, knocking her to the ground. Joann gets up tentatively, her eyes rolling cartoonishly. She seems dazed...

Meanwhile, Blast's eyes close and he drops onto his bottom, snoring softly. It looks like Sing worked...

While Blast sits on the ground asleep, Joann shakes her head, clearing her clouded mind as best she can, and gets to work on her next attack. Her eyes glow pink, and a pink energy stream appears between Blast and Joann, connecting the two. The songbird of the airwaves is siphoning Blast's energy at a slow but steady pace...

When Joann has finally had enough, the glow in her eyes fades away, as does the stream between her and Blast. Joann sits down and regains some of her strength; Blast, still sound asleep, does the same...

The air seems to be clear for the moment; a few stray Pokemon seem to have decided to take dvantage of the calm and the sunlight: A Chimecho has emerged from the grass and floated onto the battlefield. She glances around, and then she floats up to Chris and nudges him with her tail.

At about the same time, a Shuppet has flown down from the rocky peak and is now hovering around Dark Sage's head.

Joann starts the round off once again, an orb of sun-colored energy welling in her jaws at very high speed and firing at Blast. Between Joann's increased speed and the beam's shorter preparation time needed due to Sunny Day being in effect, the Charmander doesn't even have a time to say a word before he's rocked by the Solarbeam and sent tumbling back, rolling across the field before coming to rest against a small rock. Blast groans and sits up, mumbling something incoherent about how Joann is a dirty fighter with Q-tip wings...

Joann smiles confidently, and then she settles down on a tall rock and sighs, her energy restoring itself.

Bad move - Blast opens his jaws and exhales a blast of red-hot flames at Joann. Amplified by the sun, the blaze easily engulfs the songbird, who squawks in pain as she's enveloped in soot. Coughing up a puff of smoke, she tumbles backwards off the rock.

Joann wearily gets up and shakes the soot off, opening her eyes just in time to see a blast of searing blue flames assault her next. Joann screeches as the dragonic flames burn at her delicate feathers and wings, leaving her looking afterward like a freshly-cooked Christmas goose... A very malnourished one.

Joann wheezes in pain, the shock of constantly being burnt grating at her body, but again, she can't respond. She shoots her trainer a dirty look before turning back to Blast, panting fatiguedly (Is that a word? ...It is now.).

While the two Pokemon are squaring off, Chris takes notice of the Chimecho hovering beside him; a few kind words cause the Wind Chime Pokemon to giggle and shake her tail, filling the air with a soft tinkling sound...

Dark Sage, however, is as focused and unflinching as ever; he totally ignores the Shuppet spinning around his head. The Ghost narrows his eyes and sweatdrops slightly; he chuckles and floats atop DS' head, settling like a witch's hat. Chris tries not to laugh at this; he's failing.

Both Trainers shout their commands; Blast and Joann nod and face each other again...

This time, Blast starts off the round, closing his eyes and shaking his tail, stamping his feet, waving his arms... He's performing an odd dance of some kind, the flame on his tail glowing a faint pink as he dances more quickly, his speed and attack strength increasing...

Unfortunately, Joann sees Blast's tail glowing and realizes his plan; she copies his movements, her eyes twinkling pink as she flutters about, her own attack and speed increasing along with Blast's.

Blast finally finishes his dance and, feeling more confident now, takes aim at the fluttering Joann. He grins evilly and opens his mouth, blasting a searing stream of flames at Joann. Joann catches sight of the approaching flames and quickly switches tactics, her body glowing a faint white as two copies appear at her sides. The fiery stream engulfs the middle Swablu, incinerating it instantly.

Blast frowns and charges at Joann, his tiny claws twinkling as he slashes at the left Swablu, slicing it to ribbons. Blast snarls and exhales a few embers, frustrated by his bad luck. Meanwhile, Joann just smiles smugly as she perches on the ground, her energy increasing a little bit.

Meanwhile, the Chimecho flaoting around Chris continues her song, filling the air with a soothing melody reminiscent of a xylophone playing.

At the same time, the Shuppet perched on Dark Sage's head yawns, bored, and floats down in front of Dark Sage's face, loking him in the eye and obscuring his view of the batlefield.

"Shuppet?" he asks, tilting his head.

Both Trainers shout their commands; Blast and Joann nod and face each other again...

Joann starts the round off once again, two duplicates appearing beside her at amazing speed - I couldn't even see her execute the move that time!

Blast, however, nods knowingly to his Trainer - good thing he took Blast to that Move Tutor! Blast opens his mouth and aims at Joann, firing a wide stream of golden stars that tear through Joann's duplicates, knocking the true blue Swablu to the ground.

Joann chirps angrily and takes to the air again, zooming at Blast and pecking him repeatedly with insane force! Her increased attack and her amazing speed combined make her like a machine gun, peppering poor Blast over and over until he finally opens his jaws and blasts a searing stream of blue flames at his assailant, knocking her back with a cry of pain. How those thin, cottony wings can endure so many blasts of heat, I don't have any clue...

Joann and Blast pant, each running low on energy now... Joann's eyes glow white; Blast's tail glows orange. An orb of white energy wells in Joann's beak; a ball of intense flame grows in Blast's jaws...

P-SHEOWWWW!

FWOOOOOSH!

The beam of white energy blasts at the stream of concentrated flames, and the two hit head-on... they push and repel each other for a few seconds before a huge explosion rocks the field. Waves of white energy surge at Blast from the point of impact, jarring him into a state of utter Confusion.

At the same time, intense heat and shock waves from the blast scorch Joann's fragile body, Burning her badly.

The explosion has had another effect, as well - it's scared away the Chimecho that was playing a song for Chris. Too bad... I was gonna make a request...

The Shuppet pestering Dark Sage, meanwhile, has had enough of being ignored; he glares at Dark Sage and lowers his head, giving the rude human a poke in the ribs with his horn before floating away with a huff, back where he came from.

While Chris chuckles a little more and Dark Sage gives him and the ref a few dirty looks, the sunlight overhead fades back to normal...

Joann starts the round off once again, two duplicates appearing beside her at amazing speed - again, I couldn't see her execute that move! Maybe I need new glasses...

Blast, meanwhile, prepares what could be his final Dragon Rage; he opens his mouth and spits a blast of blue flames at Joann, who cries out as she's scalded yet again.

But wait! Blast is still standing! He's on his very last legs, but he still stands!

Joann, seeing her opponent still on his feet, gulps; she quickly focuses her latent mystical powers. A sky-blue aura engulfs her body before vanishing; when it does, her Burns are gone. Joann chirps in relief.

Meanwhile, Blast opens his jaws and conjures another blast of blue flame, which grows to about the size of a grape before Blast has to fire it. Then, his eyes close and he topples over onto his stomach; like his heart, lungs, and brain, the napalm-producing glands in his tail greatly slow, conserving his little remaining energy and shrinking his tail flame to an ember.

Fortunately for Joann, the miniscule blast he fired was a little misguided due to Blast's Confusion; Joann easily evades the blast, which shoots a few feet past Chris and slams into a rock before vanishing. Joann sighs, grateful that that was the last attack she'd have to take from the little Lizard Pokemon...
