If Dan's idea does go into motion, the battles would be quite brief, would they not?

Probably. But the 25 Pokemon would probably help balance out the time scale.

True. But pokemon like Scyther might cause problems, seeing as one well-placed slash can gore, imaple or severe most Pokemon's body in two. Pokemon decapitations XD what a thought.

:3.. I personally find a Persian savagely tearing apart a small pokemon with its fangs to be quite an image as well.

There's a reason she was given the Limber ability. >.> *coughPikachupreycough*

Dude. Rhydon. Spinning horn gore. Sure, Persian or Scyther slashing at something is violent, but it's nothing compared to the Pokemon equivalent of a power drill spearing some poor sap in the gut.

A Metal Claw to the throat isn't something to laugh at either. Hehe. Breaking an opponent's bones one by one before the headshot. Brutal. If they're rock, they'll shatter as well. Fufufufufu..

I actually found Curse to be a pretty nifty move in Real life. Totally controlling someone, haunting them, until they go insane and lose every sense of common sense. Oh I love Ghost pokemon, indeed.

That horn is way too powerful just to gore them. It'd send them spiraling and rip 'em into pieces. And what about a Houndoom using Crunch? I can imagine him breaking the neck of a little meowth and tossing the limp carcass down like a rag doll, dripping with dark red blood. Mmm, what a lovely conversation topic we've started.

Wonder what would be left? A pile of guts? an eye maybe? and perhaps a claw.

    Default Diamond and Pearl

    14 Pokemon confirmed so far.

    Check them out here!

    What do you guys think?

    • Munchlax (Jp name Gonbe) - hated it at first, but its grown on me a bit. Apparently learns spit up and swallow. Also has the characteristic pick up or thick fat (like Snorlax did). It has an attack called Nature Spurt which, if its holding a berry, changes the strength and type of an attack.
    • Lucario (Jp name Rukario)- Is it a legendary? I don't think so, it reminds me a lot of Absol. It has Inner Focus and is steel and fighting. Looks quite cool but I bet it's overly popular. It also has a trait called Humble Heart which increases its speed if it flinches. It also has an attack called Wave Guiding Bomb. It's a fighting type attack.
    • Bonsly (Jp name Usohachii) - ehh it's ok. Not too fussed about it really.
    • Mime Jr (Jp name Manene) - The name makes me hate it even more. In the anime it's used tickle and teeter dance.
    • Weavile (Jp name Manyula) - I like it a lot. Quite cool, vicious looking and a much needed evolution. Has the trait pressure. Also learns revenge. A new attack it has is called 'Freeze' - this disables the hold item the foe is using.
    • Manafi (No english name) - Has a trait called moist body which cures status effects in rain. Star of the 9th movie, it's like a cute jellyfish thing. I don't really like it.
    • Perappu - This is a nice quirky Pokemon and it's quite intriguing really. I can see it having perish song or sing, maybe even mirror coat. It's normal/flying, and has either Keen Eye or a new trait 'Unstable Gait'. That increases its evasion when its confused. *shrug*. It has an episode in the anime soon. Hopefully that'll shed some light on what it's like!
    • Buizeru - An otter? Awesome. A water type that looks ok I guess. I'm not too fussed really *shrug*. One of its attacks, Aqua Jet, always hits first.
    • Tamanta. Looks like a deformed Mantine. No thanks. Has swift swim and water absorb.
    • Diaruga - now THAT's a legendary. I like it a lot. Looks digimonish but we all thought the same about Blaziken.
    • Parukia - Again, retaining digimonisms but still looking rather deadly. Are these both dragons?
    • Pachirisu - 'Electric Squirrel Pokemon' Looks like a squirrel version of Pichu -_-;; Quite adorable, I wondered if we were going to get a squirrrel. Hopefully has an awesome evolution. Its an electric type with thunderbolt and the traits run away or pickup. Nice.
    • Dorapion - Whoa, this is a Poison and Dark type, with Battle Armour or a trait called Snipe. Snipe increases the base value of a critical hit. Cool! It has Poison Fang and a new attack called Cross Poison, which has a high critical hit and poison chance.
    • Chierimu - Its a grass type. Serebii says it is a "Sakura Pokemon" ?_? Its trait, flower head, opens its flower up in the sunshine. Great....? I want to know more on this. It has an attack called Trouble Seed, which changes its foes trait to Insomnia temporarily. Sounds useful.

The legendaries look really cool... I'm curious to see how this new team operates. I'll be really happy, actually, if Team Galaxy isn't actually a team, but just the two people we saw in the scans.

The squirrel is cute. But man, I'm definitely gonna get that scorpion thing. It looks freaking awesome.

So need to get that. I'm a scorpio and it looks SOOOOOOOO cool.

The squirell is yet another rip-off of pikachu. same as plusle and minum. Why don't they make a pikachu clone that isn't electric, maybe it would go unnoticed.

I think the squirrel will have an evolution and if it does, hurrah. We need more electric types and I like this one.

TBA: Apparently Team Galaxy is actually Team Go-Go, the villains from Pokemon Ranger. Given their uniforms, and the legendary Time and Space Pokemon, I'm sensing a spaced out theme to this generation

Edit: Lucario also has detect and quick attack, apparently. And there is a new rival, aside from your opposing gender one. He looks like Wally from RSE and has a green tie. He's "quite rash" but helps you along the way. This sounds like the friendly item giving rival while your opposing gender is the battler and true rival.

Edit the 2nd: Serebii keeps updating that main post -_- so it IS Team Galaxy, not Go-Go.

I still think Lucario is awesome...only weakness will be fire, I would like to think it gets a move like EQ...I like the scorpian too, I find Dark type to be more useful when backing something else, like Sableye...this will have what fighting and ground weaknesses...

Chris: Maybe it'll evolve into a flying squirrel and we'll finally have a non-legendary Electric Flyer...

And thankfully it is Galaxy and not Go-Go... the latter sounds rather, um, stupid.

    I like Diaruga muchly. ^^

Buizuru is just awesome - I've always liked the little otter pokémon.

    Lucario: Pretty good. ^^

    Manafi:... Don't really care.

    Tamanta: Nothing special.

Pachirisu: Another Pikachu clone! Aw well. Cute enough.

Weavile: Change it back to Manyula, then I'll be down with it.

Dorapion: Interesting type mixture. I don't like the looks of it, but cool types.

    Chierimu: o.0... Heck no.

Perappu: I am reminded of Alice in Wonderland.

I need some opinions, since I am in need of a few types for my team...

    Steel- Steelix or Skarmory
    Flying- ?
    Fire- Charmander? Torchic? or ?
Grass- ? Is there a pure grass type that knows slp, par,psn inducing moves, plus leech seed, razor leaf, vine whip?
    Rock-?
    Ground-?

DD: For grass, the closest you're gonna get is Chikorita, who can learn everything in your list but Sleep Powder and Stun Spore. For Steel, Steelix is a double-edged sword. It's big, so it can cause some good damage, but it also isn't going to be doing a lot of dodging. If you go Skarmory, then you have flying covered as well. For Rock, I've always been fond of the fossils, and Sandshrew and Diglett are good for ground.

Oddish learns everything but Vine whip, problem is Leech Seed is a pokecenter move.

Bulbasaur is pretty close. Everything except Stunspore and then it learns Bodyslam so it can still paralyse

Oh, for rock, I might suggest Rhydon. It's got a variety of powerful moves, as well as Megahorn for psychics and darks. For fire, Blaziken's pretty popular, and Magmar has a very good movepool. Charizard's handy if you don't have any other fliers.

I agree, the only reason I look at Charizard more, as you well know from our battle, Charmander has some nasty rock moves, Zard gets EQ, and I still have Ash's Zard beating Blaine's Magmar in my head.
Infact, I regret getting rid of that little mander so much, when my new one becomes a Zard, I say rematch Chris.

Magmar has psychic and thunderpunch however. Typhlosion's not to be overlooked either; while not having aerial coverage, he has flame wheel which acts as a damage-dealing shield should anyone try physical attacks. It blocks projectiles and if Typhlosion's bleeding, the heat from the flame wheel can courtorise (sp?) the wound. It has howl, a good attack boosted and intimidator, and I think it gets thunderpunch, too.

I like Rapidash myself. Everybody wants a Charizard, and while 'Dash doesn't have Earthquake, it can use Iron Tail, along with the good ol' Sunny Day-Solarbeam combo. Bounce is good to avoid any E-quakes from the enemy, and plenty of agility to dodge those evil water moves. It's got Flame Wheel as well, and also a few tricky moves, like Hypnosis, Charm and Baton Pass.

It does look a little 'big n scary' to be a Basic level pokemon. Maybe its just a non-evolver or a final evo in itself.

I just want to see the Starters to be honest. Ive always been a bit of a Starter trainer.

Ok, so Semptember 28, 2006 for Japanese(need to learn it...)
I also feel bad for people in the UK, as it seems it takes longer than US to get versions out...although, if it took that long, they could just buy NTSC(US,Can) versions, as it will be in English anyways...

We could get the NTSC version from America however Nintendo have blocked importers now. We cant import 'legally' US Gameboy (ie without regional locks) games because Nintendo realised why the UK market was so low.
You can find the odd backstreet shop that has a few copies but we cant legally import from the US into the UK anymore.
