OK, I was going to battle Andrew, but he never replied back. So, I find myself with a battle slot open and in desperate need of points.

Restriced moves- none damaging recovery attacks may only be used once every third turn (IE if you use Moonlight on your first turn you can't use another smiler attack until your fourth turn)

Qwerty, begin by cueing up a Rain Dance. Once it starts raining, fire out a Thunder on that serpentine dragon, and then set up a Sonic Boom.

~Round 1 Start~

“Never thought I’d actually get to referee a battle in Indigo Stadium, but here I am, here to play Referee for our two able-bodied contestants. They’re both in their respective trainer boxes, Dragonis on the left, Paradox on the right. Both are looking at the arena below – a giant water tank in the middle of it with medium-sized platforms floating on the water for the non-swimmers among you.

With a flick of his wrist Dragonis (of whom I’m due to soon battle in the Tiny Tourney; good luck) releases his own Pokémon, an energetic little Dratini who dives into the water with a splash, head appearing above the liquid. The Master of Paradox soon answers the challenge, revealing an emotionless Magneton (its name resembling that of a Keyboard’s no less) as his choice for today’s battle.

Both Pokémon eye each other for a brief moment, before the starting bell rings. Then, they’re off.

It’s Qwerty who begins the battle, beginning to rattle about in a strange fashion, its magnets spinning. I suppose it’s his version of the robot dance – well, the Rain Robot Dance that is. And lo and behold, the rain gods hear his call, and it begins to rain.

Nagi squeals in delight at the move, trilling as she moves about in the water, summoning up a giant (much bigger than usual, too) wave of water, slugging it at the unfortunate Magneton as she surfs at the crest of it, looking absolutely thrilled. The Surf hits the Magneton with a strong force that carries him into the water as the wave finally breaks.

Shaking its metallic self, the Magneton mumbles, rising out of the water sopping wet. (Not that the rain helps any of this.) His metal parts spin, generating a strong, electrical attack that the Dratini can only gawk at for a few moments, before her Trainer’s orders jolt through her head. Chirping nervously, the Dratini surrounds herself in a thick, white shield as the Magneton unleashes his charged fury. The Thunder hits its intended target, but clashes harmlessly against the protective shield, dissipating a few moments later, leaving the Dratini unharmed.

A few more clicks and whistles originate from the steel creature’s body, and with a loud boom, a burst of supersonic energy ripples through the air, hitting the unfortunate Dratini in the face before she can react. Rattled, though certainly not badly hurt, the dragon retaliates, a mighty wintery mix of ice and wind surging through her mouth with great force.

The attack is ill received on Qwerty’s part. Sopping wet, the chilled ice attack clatters against his already cold body, freezing many parts of its steel skin with (luckily) only a few thin layers of ice. It’s going to make movement difficult, but not totally unmanageable.

As for the weather forecast? Expect a more rain.”

That was a great first round Nagi! Lets start this round off with Safegard then use Surf again and finish by diving underwater and using Haze.

Okay, Qwerty, that could have gone better, but I'm not going to yammer on about it. Let's make up for that.

Start the round by using Mimic to give yourself a Safeguard. Next, set up a Protect to make her Surf useless, and then hit the water with a Thunderbolt when she dives and give her a nice shock.

~Round 2 Start~

“The little Dratini, still grinning from the last round, closes her eyes. She begins to hum, and a clear, white veil of light surrounds her. It covers every inch of her body, protecting her from status effects. Qwerty, however, has been watching her carefully. It copies her move, and erects a Safeguard for himself, protecting itself in the same manner as Nagi.

Nagi doesn’t really realize this though, too busy summoning up another giant cerulean wave. She cries out gleefully as the Surf reaches its crest, rushing forward like a herd of water-type Rapidash. The attack slams into the Magneton, and Nagi was expecting it to go flying into the water again… but nothing happens. The wave breaks, crashing back into the pool. Above Nagi, the Magneton is glowing white, and a mystical shield is around him – though it lasts only for a few seconds more before sputtering and fading.

Nagi growls, disappointed. She stares at Qwerty for a moment, before she suddenly remembers her orders and dives into the water. Through the clear liquid, she darts about, a strange haze issuing from her body, clouding the water significantly until no one can see where Nagi is.

For Qwerty, that won’t be so much of a problem. It guesses where Nagi’s likely location is, steel magnets spinning as it starts to generate electricity. Surrounding in the sparking energy of Thunderbolt, the Magneton releases the attack. It plummets into the water, where the super-conductive water aids the Thunderbolt in finding the Dratini one second later. Her bubbly yelps can be heard above the surface, telling Qwerty that his attack hit. It might have not been straight on, and therefore, not quite as powerful, but anyone could be sure that Nagi got a very nasty shock.

It looks like Qwerty won this round.

That was a better round than last time, Qwerty. Let's give it another go.

Nagi will likely surface this round. If she does, pelt her with a burst of Swift. If she stays underwater, punish her for it with another Thunderbolt. After that, whether she came up or not, blast at her with a Sonic Boom, and then rest for a turn and recharge the batteries.

Nagi still twitching a bit from the electric shock she received last round, rushes upwards in a burst of speed. She leaps out of the water quite grandly, launching herself towards Qwerty. A barrage of pointed stars meet her en route, scraping against her skin rather unpleasantly. She’s almost blown back, but she manages to land herself on the Magneton, beginning to coil herself around it.

Suddenly, a boom and a rush of air greet her. She squeals as her ears ring, while the concentrated blast of air rips her off of her opponent. She lands on one of the floats, taking a moment to regain equilibrium. The Magneton seems to be relaxing just above her, its sensors and such slowing down considerably to try and conserve power for an action. Nagi smirks, breathes in, and releases a torrent of hot flames. They hit the Magneton easily, and it flinches visibly. Lucky for Magneton, it was raining – that, and thanks to the Flamethrower, all traces of ice have been successfully melted off.

Wait for her to begin spitting the Hydro Pump, and then spit a Spark into it - let's see what she can do about the water conducting the electricity past her scales. Launch a Metal Sound to disrupt her Light Screen attempt, and then drop a Thunderbolt into the water once she dives. It worked last time, and if the plan suceeds, it will work again.

Nagi, still on the platform, crawls back into the pool, her head appearing above water as she launches a powerful jet of high-pressured water from her open. Aided by the rain, the attack seems monstrous. Qwerty doesn’t seem afraid by the display, sending a round orb of electricity into the coming water. It conducts like a charm, rushing down to where the water meets body in a manner of seconds.

Nagi screeches as the electricity takes its hold, stopping the Hydro Pump; however, the attack was much too close to not hit Qwerty, impacting his metal shrouded body with so much force it sends him backwards. He even is a bit electrocuted himself from the remaining electricity in the Hydro Pump.

It takes both Pokémon a few moments to regain compusure from the well thought-out attacks, and Nagi is first to react, managing to summon up a shield of clear, translucent light. The Metal Sound sends Nagi diving underwater to avoid it, or rather, dilute the sound as much as possible. But the metal screech has already affected her, and all she can do is exude a thick white mist to cloud the water once more, shield surrounding her.

Qwerty has no problem knowing what to do next. He sends a Thunderbolt into the water, knowing his chance to hit Qwerty head-on are not likely. Still, the Thunderbolt travels through the water, finding its target and shocking it, doing only a little bit more than usual due to the Metal Sound and Light Screen.

Up above, the rain stops, and the pool is once again covered by the white mist.

Wait for her to surface and then Tackle her out of the sky. Let loose a Sonic Boom, and then pelt her down with a Swift.

The mechanical Pokémon waits for the Dratini to surface like a Persian stalking her prey. As soon as Nagi sticks her head out of the haze covered water, Qwerty launches itself at the little Dratini, who chirps in surprise and releases a long stream of flames that hit the Magneton to great effect. It doesn’t stop Qwerty from hitting the Dratini with a fiery tackle as she retreats deep into the water.

Hitting the water itself, the Magneton pulls itself out of the liquid, and quickly launches a Sonic Boom into the water. The soundwaves reverberate, but the Dratini is far and away from the Sonic Boom to be affected.

Nagi surfaces a few seconds later, to the electric-type’s left, snickering as another Flamethrower jets out of her mouth and into Qwerty’s back, who in retaliation spins around and sends forth a barrage of five pointed stars that hit the energetic Dratini right in the face, sending her back into the water, where she stays, rubbing her face with the tip of her long tail. The holy aura around her fades, as does Qwerty’s as the Safeguard finally dissipates.

The Dratini, hearing her orders, dives deeper into the water. It takes only a few moments for a thick haze to cloud the water, obscuring her from sight. But little does Nagi know she’s being tracked. Qwerty, before the Haze was made, had locked onto her with its special, built-in sensors. Even though the metallic being couldn’t physically see Nagi, it knew exactly where she was. Currently she was resting some ways down, no doubt believing herself safe under the thick white veil.

Never was she more wrong.

With a variety of mechanical clicks, the Magneton gathering energy from the arena around it, focusing all that power into a single beam of blue-tinted energy. Seconds later, the energy was fired, slicing through the water and straight into Nagi. Her surprise was greater than her fear, as the attack sent her colliding with the pool bottom. The secondary effects of the Secret Power began to talk hold, and even as Nagi rested and regained a bit of energy, she felt irrevocably confused, even more so when her Light Screen finally faded into nothing.

Up above, Qwerty floated, motionless above the water. Its sensors had slowed and he allowed himself to rest as it awaited its trainer’s next commands.

Nagi continues to remain stationed under the water, looking up nervously through the cloudy haze, setting up a pale, translucent shield around her to help defend herself against special attacks. Qwerty, meanwhile, quickly generates the energy needed to make electricity within its body, sending a rippling current of electricity into the water. This time, the Thunderbolt strikes true, and the attack hits the Dratini directly. The shield buffers some of the attack, but the electricity, aided by the water, still goes through and zaps the Dratini.

Nagi squeals as her muscles suddenly seem to become numb and limp, and one of her worst fears is confirmed; she’s paralyzed. Mumbling in worry, the Dratini can do little but relax, the attack not driving her into the surface. Qwerty, noticing this, does the same. Both of them chill for the rest of the round, recuperating and regaining energy.

Qwerty, wait until Nagi has no choice but to use Waterfall, and then unleash a blast of Thunder to set her back down. That should negate her other moves, so take a break for the rest of the turn... but Protect if she manages to use Flamethrower anyway.

Feeling the end of the match nearing, Nagi gazes up at the Magneton from underwater. Trilling, she waits, seeing electricity being charged around the Magneton’s body. She continues to wait, and nothing happens. Supposing that the Magneton is resting, she propels herself out of the water, only to be hit by a Thunder, which sends her straight back into the pool. The Thunder does nothing to help her malady, and she’s unable to move to use wrap – even though it’s already been somewhat thwarted.

Up above, Qwerty rests, ever watching his opponent as she makes her way up to the surface. Though she’s no longer at point blank range, she’s close enough. Nagi inhales, a Flamethrower searing out of her mouth – only to be blocked by Qwerty’s protective shield.

Qwerty’s sensors once again are put to work, tracking the Dratini’s movements, which admittedly is not hard, as she seems content on staying put and resting. With full confidence in its aim, Qwerty begins to charge up a Hyper Beam, and Nagi struggles vainly to put up a shield, but her muscles constrict and finds herself unable to execute the move as the Hyper Beam comes hurtling into her, sending her body flying into the depths of the pool.

Tired with her muscles almost numb and hard to move, both parties recover from the respective last round.

Alright Nagi, we're not done showing them this battles not over yet! Relax again and try to loosen up some, then mix Flamethrower and Water Pulse to send a jet of hot water at Qwerty.

For the first round, both opponents rest. Muscles groaning in rebellion, the Dratini has trouble making it up to the surface of the water. She’s also finding it hard to execute the combo, as you can’t exactly channel fire and water really at the same time. Her thoughts are broken by Qwerty’s Sonic Boom as he tries to drive her from the water. It makes her jump, but doesn’t send her fleeing (or flying) towards one of the platforms.

Not about to let the attack go to waste, the Dratini manages to spew out a streamy bit of water. Though helped by fire, the steamy mess doesn’t seem to hurt Qwerty much more than a Water Pulse would – save the fact his metal body is a little hotter now. Qwerty quickly retaliates at his foe with a swift, and thus ends the round. It won’t be much longer, from the looks of both opponents.

With the end of the round nearing, both Pokémon muster up their last remaining energy for one final assault. Qwerty goes first, a bolt of electricity surging out from its body towards Nagi, it collides with a transparent shield, crackling and sparking off the Dratini’s protective shield.

Frustrated that its move was thwarted, Qwerty tries to relax and regain more energy while Nagi blasts him with a powerful Flamethrower – the last move she’ll ever make. The hot pain from the Flamethrower is almost blinding, and Qwerty more than gladly summons up a Swift, sending the five pointed stars to decimate its dragon foe. To Qwerty’s satisfaction, a Swift is all it takes to send Nagi into unconciousness.
