Thread: TML vs Spike (Ref: darktyranitar)

[font=papyrus]Good work Finus, good work. Now, start with Agility to raise speed and evasion. Then, dash towards Shade and attack with Fury Cutter twice. Dash and attack, dash and attack.

Btw, the name Shade sounds familiar. Did you name him after the once gym leader of ASB? (whom our battle never finish now that I remember...)

No, most of my ASB Pokemon are named after my AC Pokemon (including Shade), and they were adopted around the summer of 2001, before I came to ASB

Okay, I'm not too sure if the Double Teaming Pokemon would lose their clones when attacking, but here goes:

    The_Missing_Link VS Spike

    Round Eleven

    Arena: Grassy Field

    Stats:

    The_Missing_Link Team

    Shade (M)
    HP: 74%
    Energy: 74%
    Status: Face on the ground
Attack Command: Double Team ~ Sludge Bomb ~ Sludge Bomb

    Spike Team

    Finus (M)
    HP: 72%
    Energy: 73%
    Status: Satisfied
    Sword Dance ~ Attack +2
Safeguard: Remain for next 3 round
Attack Command: Agility ~ Fury Cutter ~ Fury Cutter

Background music: Rewrite: Asian Kung-Fu Generation

    Round Eleven~ Begin!

Both Shade and Finus had moved towards defensive move in their first turn… Finus began to move really fast, appearing and disappearing around Shade. Shade paid no attention to Finus as he focused his mind to create copies of himself. His attack worked, as 5 perfect copies of him now stands beside him. Finus momentarily slowed down, contemplating on his how he would execute his next move.

He then took his chance and dashed towards one of the Shades, his scythes bared. But the attack passed through the Shade, shattering the clone into nothingness. He quickly dashed away to safety, just inches from being hit by Shade’s Sludgebomb.

Repeating the process, Finus dashed and slashed Shade, and this turn also turned out like the last one, with Finus destroying yet another clone. But this time, he was a bit late to dash away, and so the result was a clear shot of Sludgebomb from Shade (10% damage). Finus reeled back, tending over the spot where the sludge had make contact.

    End of Round Eleven

[font=papyrus]Wait until he sets up his reflect to dash behind him and attack all of them with Silver Wind. Then, wait until he turns around to dash behind him and attack with Wing Attack. Finally, when he starts his razor wind attack, I want you to dash behind him again and Slash his bulb with both your scythes.

    Round Twelve~ Begin!

Shade immediately begins to produce a flat translucent barrier in front of him, attempting to block attack off from Finus. He sighed, as setting up the barrier has taken off some considerable energy from him…

But Finus’s trainer has some other idea. Shade’s barrier was set in FRONT of him, which meant that he was vulnerable from the behind. Finus, with his speed, sneakily dashed behind Shade, letting loose a gust of bug energy towards the unaware Shade (8% damage). All of Shade clone was immediately dispelled, leaving behind the one and only, real Shade.

Shade grumbled; he knew he should be attacking Finus, but he has to follow his trainer order to relax. Finus took advantage of this and gave Shade a beating from a Wing Attack (8% damage).

Now gaining some of his lost energy, Shade collects two gust of wind around him. Finus quickly dashed behind Shade and lashed his scythes over Shade’s bulb, causing Shade to lose control over his attack. Both Shade and Finus roared from the aftermath of the attacks: Shade’s bulb was slightly bleeding from Finus scythes, while Finus’s scythes was slightly cut from the failed Razor Wind attack (9% damage to Shade, 6% damage to Finus). Both Shade and Finus reeled from the last attacks, tending to the little cut that they received.

    Round Thirteen~ Begin!

Finus wing began to shimmer, similar to those of metal, and his feet were coiled up, ready to spring into action. Seeing this, Shade immediately curled himself into a ball, bracing for the attack. Moments later, Shade was struck by the both scythes and wing from behind. Much to Finus frustration, the attack damage was slightly lowered due to Shade defensive position (5% damage).

Using his speeed, Finus dashed away from Shade, stopping after he was at a considerable distance from him. He began to charge a Razor Wind attack, but in doing so, he forgot about the mauve barrier set in front of Shade. The sharp cutting wind was released, but the barrier slowed most of the wind power down before it could reach Shade (3% damage). Shade sighed, as he was just relaxing all the while behind the shield, which by now was slowly starting to dissipate.

Shade then charged up a Razor Wind, and with ease, he fired at Finus, receiving no opposition from him (8% damage). It was then that the Safeguard around Finus began to falter.

Shade started by firing a Sludgebomb attack towards Finus, but to his dismay the swift Scyther used a Quick Attack to dodge out of harms way.

Next up, Shade and Finus both did the same thing, as both sat down and relaxed. It seems fine so far, as no one is hurt yet.

Then came the attack part. Both Pokemon began to charge gust of wind around each of their leaves and scythes respectively. But as one can see, both Pokemon suffered some slight injury on their body, and so when the attack connected… it held in the middle for a few moment, before each reached their intended target, both low in its damaging power than what both Pokemon asked for (6% damage to Shade, 5% damage to Finus).

Such short and simple commands from both trainers!

Finus started by relaxing, but Shade was having other idea. Instead of relaxing, he fired a glob of toxic towards Finus, which easily went down his bloodline, slowly eating the health out of him.

Finus began to cough up due to the effect of the poison. After he regained himself, he shook his wing, sending gust of bug energy towards Shade. Hoever, Shade had quickly rolled himself into the shape of a ball, causing the wind to brush slightly against his skin (3% damage).

Frustrated, Finus flew towards Shade, his wing spread out. To his surprise, Shade suddenly split into 5 identical images during his attacking phase. Not expecting the move, Finus went through a clone, dissipating it upon contact.

    Round Sixteen~ Begin!

Finus began to whip up a gust just as Shade fired a glob of sludge towards him. The razor-sharp wind was then launched, easily cutting through the glob, sending it flying all over the ground. Unfortunately for Shade, two of his clones were taken out by the Razor Wind attack.

Shade’s bulb then puffed up and down, emitting a strange pinkish powder in the air. The powder floated slowly towards Finus, and the Scyther, wanting to produce a dramatic effect, waited until the powder was only a short distance from him, before he whip up another gust; only this time, it was laced with bug energy. The gust, immediately mixing with the powder flew back towards Shade, depleting all of his clones (6% damage), and upon contact, he slowly lied down, appearing to calm down.

Taking advantage of his opponent slightly dazed state, Finus swiftly make his way behind Shade. Shade realised this, and began to produce a gust of wind. Alas, a sudden sensation of pain exploded from his bulb (9% damage), sending Shade roaring with pain. The attack was released, but of course, it never met its target…

Shade looked behind- a deep gash was carved on his bulb, and the wound was bleeding profusely. As if on cue, Finus dashed back to its previous place, ready for the next round. Slowly, the poison in his body began to take its effect on his health and energy…

You'd think that even though Finus pumped up his attack and speed 5-6 rounds ago, the boost would be fading by now. Remember that this is based on the anime and boosts don't last forever. As Pokemon use up their energy, they become more tired and their reflexes aren't as sharp, hence moving more slowly and having attacks become less powerful

    Round Seventeen~ Begin!

Giving Finus no chance, Shade let loose a bright flash of light, temporarily blinding Finus. It was then that Finus’s Safeguard was created, and even then, the damage had already been done.

Finus began to charge up a Razor Wind attack- even if he was still a bit blurry on where Shade was. And before he knew it- POW! Shade’s Vine Whip lifted him up, slamming him next, towards the ground (7% damage). The Razor Wind went off, only that it didn’t reach its designated target.

It was then that Finus realised something. Somehow, he felt a little fatigued, and he didn’t seem as strong as before. Is it the effect of Toxic? Surely, that couldn’t be the only reason why he suddenly felt this weird sensation…

With a bit of trouble, Finus then began to charge up a gust of bug energy. Shade gave a slight growl as he set himself down on the ground- relaxing. He hoped that Finus would somehow miss, as the after-effect of the Flash that he had taken. True to his intuition, the attack missed him terribly. Okay, so no that terrible, but the gust was only inches away from touching him. Talk about luck, eh?

Not fully aware that he missed, Finus continued to wonder what had caused him to felt this way. Then, he felt a sharp pain, caused by the toxic in his body. This time, he also felt his energy slowly diminishing…

We don't want him to relax so vine whip x3 (no lifting). Don't strain yourself that much though

Slash his wips. Then, keep your distance and relax. Finish with Wing Attack.

    Round Eighteen~ Begin!

Shade immediately whips up two vines from his side, only to be caught by Finus’s Slash attack, sending them reeling back towards Shade (4% damage).

Taking advantage of the retracing of the vines, Finus got himself as far as possible from Shade before he plopped himself down to relax. No sooner than that, Shade’s vines lashed out, finding their way towards Finus. Finus barely have the time to react, resulting in a whipping on both his scythes (4% damage).

The vines then retraced back towards Shade, and it was then that Finus went to attack Shade, his wings spread open. The vines then lashed out again, but Finus surprisingly brush over them, planting a Wing Attack right on Shade’s face (4% damage to Finus, 8% damage to Shade).

The toxic in Finus’s body continued to eat away his health and energy, leaving him low on energy…

Now, it’s the battle between HP and energy!

Oh boy, this doesn't look good. Well, whatever happens, im happy that after more than 4 years of ASB, I've finally battled you, TML.

Finus, let's finish this. Relax to regain some energy. Then, Silver Wind and Swift to hit everything.

The last thing we want him to do is relax so prevent that by slapping him around with your vines. Don't exert yourself too much but we can't let him regain energy. Put up a protect and hope it'll do its job but if he's still up by the next action use the vines to wrap his mouth tightly to prevent him from using swift

    Round Nineteen~ Begin!

Finus tried to get his distance from Shade to relax, but Shade then used another Vine Whip attack, making it hard for Finus to relax (4% damage). In the end, Finus never got a chance to regain his energy.

Using his last remaining energy, Finus whipped up a gust of bug energy. The gust was send towards Shade, but to the utter disappointment of Finus, the wind crashed harmlessly over a translucent shield of energy, set up at a moment just before the gust would reach Shade. Finus then collapsed due to the combination of fatigue and toxic in his body.

    Spike: 2 points
    dt: 4 points

    Enjoy your points!

Wow, that was one battle where it could've gone either way. Definitely one of the closest I've ever been in. I'm surprised I never battled you before Spike but it was a pleasure doing so now. And dt, this was just another learning experience. As long as you keep yourself aware of what's going on and try to reason in common sense and such, you should be fine

Pleasure was mine. Im proud that I battled one of the legends of TPM ASBL and be so close to victory. Still, expect a challenge from me sometime on the future, and don't worry, I'll be more of a challenge.

On the other hand, dt, although you made some mistakes your reffings were great. Thanks for your services.
