Round Four - Semi-Finals!
Appeals are all well and good, but they can only get you so far. For the semi-finals you are battling it out for a place in the final two and a chance at the grand prize! It is a simple 1-1 battle, no time limit, with no banned moves. The refs for each match have already been confirmed.

The ref for this matchup is SaffirePersian. She will decide who attacks first and who posts first.

The arena is a plain standard, outdoor arena. It has a fine grassy ground.

~Round 1 Start~

From the stands, a large crowd of people eager to watch the final rounds of the Grand Festival gather, looking on excitedly as two of the Final Four step on to the grassy battling field. Chris 2.0 comes up first, flinging a red and white pokéball to the stadium grounds. The orb bursts open, revealing a large, intimidating ghost-type known to all as Dusclops. The other battler in competition for the ribbon is Aragornbird, who releases a pretty female Lapras onto the grassy turf, and the crowd looks on at his choice curiously, wondering what the ‘bird has up his sleeves.

A loud ding of a bell goes off amongst the chatter, and the first round finally commences.

With a plan in mind Kimimaro’s eyes glow with a ghostly light, and it takes only a moment for tiny, wispy blue-hued flames to surround the ghost. Nessa’s Blizzard is halted in its tracks, as she recognizes the move for what it is, and instead surrounds herself in a white, mystic aura as the Will-o-Wisp descends upon her, winking out immediately in contact with the shield.

Grinning, Kamimaro begins a more difficult and delicate procedure. Closing his eyes, he focuses on his foe’s mind, working a string of complex Psychic maneuvers. Nessa feels the Psychic evasion and struggles, but can’t go much of anywhere, being a large water-dwelling creature beached on foreign turf. She whimpers, and opens her mouth and attempts to use Ice Beam, but as she does, the move dies in her throat as the Disable takes effect.

Frustrated, the plesiosaur begins to spark with electricity, just as lethal, Psychic attack slams into her, rippling with a supernatural aura. The attack buffets her face and neck, and sends her head reeling in a bit of a dizzying motion, but Nessa soon retaliates, launching a blast of medium-powered electric, which zaps the Dusclops with merciless power and precision.

Kimimaro this is good. Start with future sight. Next use a shadow ball and end with thunderpunch. If sing is used, taunt her over her song and aggravate her.

~Round 2 Start~

‘Maro’s eyes begin to glow with a purple, psionic light as he uses he peers into the enigmatic future. Nessa herself has began to carefully conjure her powerful Ice Attack. She carefully forms a small thread of heavily concentrated ice, extremely chilling and cold, taking a lot of energy out of the Lapras. A second later, the extremely thin ice thread flies towards the Dusclops, aiming for the vulpine creature’s chest, as to complete the sudden cold snap in order to stress the heart and do damage. But the Dusclops, having seen this possible future attempts to dodge.

The Sheer Cold blasts past him, the single icy tendril barely scraping his shoulder. But the sudden impact of near sub-zero cold emits a flash upon contact, both burning and freezing at the same time, while encasing the Dusclops’s shoulder in ice. Nevertheless, Kimimaro can’t help but give a sigh of relief. He had seen what that move could do – quite literally.

Next, still a bit edgy from his close encounter, the magical Pokémon pulls another move out of his bag of magic tricks, forming a medium-sized Shadowball, brimming with ghostly properties, slamming it forward with his un-frozen appendage only to see that a high-powered blast of water is coming towards him.

He is too slow to escape this time, the blast, but manages to hold his own ground as the Hydro Pump barrels into him. Nessa, however, is holding her own. The Shadowball may have hit her, but with her bulk and size, she isn’t going much of anywhere. She watches Kimimaro pick himself up from the grassy field, his left fist crackling with electricity.

He makes his way towards her, but the sudden blast of searing light fills his eye-lids, sending his mind spinning into confusion. His thunder-covered fist misses the Lapras by a long-shot, crackling into a bit of solid ground, leaving the Dusclops wide-eyed and panting, as he tries to shake off the feelings of confusion. His opponent seems not much better off at first glance, panting in exhaustion from using two overly powerful moves.

A chilling bout of Icy Wind surges to its Ghost-type target. The Dusclops, however, has managed to surround himself in a whir of ghostly flames, melting the ice, and helping counter the chilling effects of Icy Wind to a good degree, though not entirely.

Watching her opponent carefully, Nessa surveys her target as he gathers a fist-full of electric energy. Nervous as he starts running towards her, she fires off a Thunderbolt of her own. The javelin of lightning sears along the ground, striking the Cyclops-esque ghost in the chest as he spins around in confusion. Mind swimming, he brings his fist straight around, making it land powerfully into the ground, sparks of thunder issuing from it, but missing Nessa entirely.

Confused at his failure the ghost pauses for a minute, his eye trying to locate his rather voluminous target. Nessa, however, has taken the initiative. Another blast of Icy Wind flies the Dusclops’ way, chilling him and decreasing his movement speed for a few turns. The cold snap, however, helps bring ‘Maro out of his confusion, and he manages to summon a Shadowball and launch it at his plesiosaur opponent.

Nessa shivers, feeling the Psychic bands placed on her brain to keep her from using one of her ice-type moves, finally fully unravel and vanish, leaving her open to tap in to her ice prowess once again. However, Nessa pursues a different elemental talent: electricity. Bristling with static energy, Nessa releases a plethora of sparking yellow bolts outwards from her body. Though Kimimaro disappeared, the Shockwaves hone in on their target, finding the Dusclops despite his invisibility, shocking him into full alertness.

Hissing in frustration, the Dusclops reappears in full, corporal form, his fist now showing signs of his own elemental Electric attack. A beautiful, luring song almost puts a halt to 'Maro's attacks, but he manages to hit her with his pulsing fist, cutting off Nessa's musical song abruptly.

She retaliates with a blast of cold water, trembling with supersonic waves. The Water Pulse to the face does rattle Kimimaro somewhat, but his senses are still sharp and clear enough to land a n'er miss Shadowpunch into his saurian target.

Grunting as his confusion finally starts to wear off, 'Maro engulfs himself in a circling purple aura of flaming will-o-whisps. The Ice Beam clatters against his fiery body, helping lessen the ice-type move's effect, but not entirely. Still, the cold snap, brief as it is, helps Kimimaro to regain his senses and clear his head. His irritation beginning to bubble to the service, he lunges at the prone Lapras just as she launches another rattling Water Pulse to his head.

The rattling jet of water doesn't confuse him, merely irritating the ghost even further. And this time, his punch pulls through, and his fist slams into the Lapras with a vengeance, her body squirming under the electrical barrage, though her Safeguard prevents paralysis.

Satisfied, Kimimaro follows up with his final attack, jumping upwards, before hitting the ground, causing it to shake violently at the impact. Nessa yelps, startled, releasing a torrent of green dragon-flame that shoots to the side instead of straight at the hulking ghost in front of her. The attack sizzles past 'Maro, scraping past him for a minimal amount of damage.

~Round 6 Start~

A chilling beam of pure blue jets out of Nessa's mouth, the icy attack skidding all around Kimimaro's lower body, freezing his legs to the ground in a sheet of hard, sparkling ice. Kimimaro doesn't seem to be heeding the attack, his eyes glowing a deep, eerie blue color. His body glows with a faint aura for a few moments before it whisks away, and nothing seems to happen.

Coming out of his hypnotic trance, the Dusclops tries to move his legs to preform another Earthquake, but with each grunt, and tug of his legs, he finds his feet are frozen solid to the ground, and thus far, his movements have only slightly cracked the ice and caused it to loosen a tad, but the ice is too far advanced for it to be shattered by just pushing and pulling. It takes Kimimaro a few moments to give up on his trainer's orders, and Nessa takes that moment to rest, regaining her much needed energy.

Suddenly, she is assaulted by a sudden barrage of Psychic energy, and, taking a deep breath, she roars, a harsh, grating sound coming out of her throat, loud enough to send a few lesser-willed Pokémon fleeing into the crannies in the stands. The psychic pain stops immediately, and Nessa breaths a sigh of relief. However, that relief is cut short as a swirling mass of Psychic energy comes darting across the grounds towards her. The Future Sight slams into her side mercilessly, before leaving the arena as mysteriously as it had come.

~Round 7 Start~

Raising his hands upwards, Kimimaro closes his great eye. A orange nimbus wraps around his ghostly visage, and multiple rays of light jet outwards into the sky. The sun seems to respond to this summoning, brightening to a brilliant blaze. The temperature is already rising, and the merciless sun is slowly melting through ice surrounding Kimimaro's feet. Grimacing in annoyance at the sudden heat, Nessa launches another chilling beam, sweeping it into Kimimaro's chest. The impact sends a numb feeling jetting through his form, but the sun soon negates the feelings of cold.

Grinning in satisfaction as 'Maro realizes he can move his feet a bit, he uses all his strength to move them free from the remaining -- and melting -- ice. He stomps the ground with a bone-shattering thud, and the ground rumbles and roars as its landmass is tossed and turned. Nessa squeals, but her mark holds fine and true.. though the winter wind is considerably degraded to a mere, negligible chill.

Nessa has barely any time to charge her second and final Ice Beam when 'Maro comes barelling at her, fist surging with electricity. Frightened and feeling her growing fatique, she launches her ill-prepared Ice Beam at him, watching it nick his shoulder. Her vision begins to swim, dots beginning to abound in her vision. The last thing she sees as her tired body gives out, is the hulking form of the Dusclops and he slams his fist into Nessa's exhausted body before collapsing onto his knees, barely able to stand.

We won! - Liang I chose this Pokemon because I thought we'd be fine against Lapras but by god - you gave us a tough tough time! I honestly didn't think we'd win that.

Whoo-hoo, I can finally log in! I was busy all this past two weeks for finals and I had some log in issues that I didn't really have time to solve until today.

Anyways, it's hard to believe we were only 1 point away from a tie. But great job, Chris, this battle was really exciting and I'm glad to have made it as far as I did.
