Arena: Mt. Pyre

An ominous mountain protruding from the ocean, the summit of which is broad and flat, surrounded by blunt ridges and stony plinths. Surrounding the plateau is a stretch of tall grass inhabited by mysterious Pokemon, including the enigmatic Chimecho and the ghostly Shuppet. Rising in the background is a tall staircase carved into the stone, leading up to the peak where a small shrine stands; whatever rests within the shrine is something that likely shouldn't be disturbed...

The first half of this battle is over. Brian's Charmander and his Pichu have fallen, as have Chris' Swablu and Togepi. Both Trainers have used fairly different strategies so far, but this time, they've both decided to fight fire with fire... Well, almost.

Kandy, a Spheal without a care in the world, and Mr. Larpus, an Omanyte with his own theme song, size one another up as they're issued their next sets of commands...

Mr. Larpus starts the round by closing his eyes and repeating an earlier maneuver - his body glows a faint grey as rocks erupt from the ground and are launched at Kandy, who glows a faint white as a copy appears on either side of her. The stones crash down, tearing through one clone, and then slamming into Kandy, driving her back a good seven feet. She looks dazed... or maybe, un-dazed?

Mr. Larpus, taking advantage of Kandy's distraction, glares at the Spheal, his eyes glowing red as his gaze burns into poor Kandy, causing the chibi-ish sea lion to cringe as her defense is forcibly lowered.

But Kandy is braver than she looks; she opens her mouth and fires a beam of near-transparent ice crystals that catch the sunlight and form a miniature rainbow that smashes into Larpus, sending him rolling back and bouncing off Chris' foot. He whines and sits up, rubbing his head dizzily with one of his tentacles.

Kandy makes her move, flopping into the air and slamming down on the mountaintop, cracking the ground and knocking over Mr. Larpus - not to mention both Trainers and the ref! Seems little Kandy doesn't know her own strength...

Mr. Larpus crawls to his feet and withdraws into his shell; the mouth of the shell hums and fires a barrage of bony spikes that pummel Kandy mercilessly, bruising and piercing her rubbery skin.

Arena Status: Hail is falling for 3 more rounds. Several rocks have been uprooted; a lot of dust and dirt has settled around the mountaintop.

Then, use Swallow.

Next, fire an Ice Beam.

If he uses Protect or something else to avoid the Stockpile, use Earthquake for your second move instead of Swallow.
