Default Dark Sage versus Blademaster (Ref: Crystal Tears)

I issue a challenge to Blademaster! I want a battle at full power.

    Rules:

Pokemon: Four. One out at a time.

Banned moves: Rest, Substitute, Mimic, any pure status inflictors (Poison Fang is allowed, Toxic is not, Body Slam is allowed, Thunder Wave is not), and any pure healers (Giga Drain is allowed, Recover and Synthesis is not).

    DQ Time: 2 Weeks.

Other rule: So there is no intentional type-trumping, we PM our first pokemon to the ref. Also, our first pokemon must be one that is in its first evolutionary state.

You may choose who attacks first.

Arena: The top of Mt. Battle! Take it to the summit!

    Do you accept?

(If Blademaster does not or cannot, this is an open challenge.)

A battle at full power, eh? You weren't holding back on me last time, now were you, Brian...?

I accept your challenge, naturally. But, come on, a 2 week DQ? When's the last time EITHER of us has gone two weeks without being here?

    Now, as for a ref...

    (looks around)

    ...Anyone?

Sorry for the double post, but heres the pokes.

Dark Sage chooses his Male Charmander nicknamed Blast.

Blademaster chooses his Genderless Lunatone nicknamed Moon Cleft.

Because Blademaster did not state who would go first, the random number generator elects Blademaster to attack first.

    OK, let's do this!

Moon Cleft, this is your first battle on my team, right? Then let's keep things simple...

Start with a Safeguard to block any burns or poison, then slam Blast with a Body Slam, and finish with a pont-blank Psywave!

    Move: Safeguard, Body Slam, Psywave

Okay, Blast, don't be hasty. Remember, that's a Rock, so Fire isn't gonna cut it.

First, when it's busy with Safeguard, use Dragon Rage.

When it comes in for Body Slam, activate Double Team. Your faster, so it should work.

Then, wait for it to use its Psywave, and then hit it with a Brick Break.

    Summit of Mt. Battle

    Blast

    Moon Cleft
    Lunatone

    100 / 100
    (HP / MP)
Safeguard ~ Body Slam ~ Psywave

    GO!
The battle takes place on a platform that dangles high about a smouldering pit of lava, the summit of Mt. battle, never before seen by this ref, for the battler known as Blademaster.

Being cautious, Moon Cleft begins to summon a veil of protectiveness, the veil flows over the Lunatone’s body before activating her immune system. Blast, the male Charmander who looks onwards with slight annoyed facial expression, wastes no time taking in a deep breath and expelling green and blue flames that caress the sides of the rock type, who cringes from the dragon attack.

Now it’s Cleft’s turn, the rock type races forward, but it forced to halt when Blast splits in copies of himself. Mentally cringing, Cleft picks one to the right and charges. The rock type zooms through the fake and almost smashes into one of the support beams.

Point-blank means being close, humming a low tune of aggravation; Cleft hovers over to Blast and lets a shimmering wave of psychic power slam into the fire type. The psychic wave does good damage for fading away (after of course, hitting the ground, chains, and a support beam), and Blast takes his chance.
His hand glows as bright as the sun, and suddenly it is smashed down onto the floating moon. Cleft lets out a shriek of surprise and pain as it wobbles back, thoroughly annoyed.

    END!

    Great, Blast, you're doing great!

Okay, get up in the big guy's face, and use Metal Claw.

Then follow through with Dragon Claw.

    Finish with Iron Tail.

If he uses Double Team, switch your current move to Beat Up. With three of your teamates waiting, you should hit the real one.

Super-effective attacks, Brian? You can be more creative than that...

Moon Cleft, if he wants to get up in yo' face, make him regret it: since it worked so well last time, scramble his mind with another Psywave. Then, neutralize his Dragon Claw with Cosmic Power, and finish with an Ice Beam at his tail - ice and hot metal don't mix too well, heh heh heh...

    GO!

Right off the bat Blast is charging down the field, his claws shimmering as a new found coat of steel makes them sharper then ever. Lunatone concentrates on the lizard, and then fires off a wave of psychic energy that again hit’s Blast relatively hard. But none the less, the fire type slashes one of Moon Cleft’s eyes with a hefty metal claw attack.

Vision now altered, Cleft has to scan for it’s foe for a moment before finding the Lizard, grumbling how it isn’t attack, the Moon clears its thought and reaches out to the stars. The zodiac sign of Gemini glows bright in the sky above, and then grants Lunatone a gift. Blade frowns, confused by the show but then wastes no time slicing into the same eye with the dragony claw.

Now the fire type runs blindly towards his opponent, his tail shining as a similar coat of metal that once covered his claws appear. Moon Cleft takes aim at the tail, and fires a chilling beam of ice energy as its opponent wheels it forward. The ice successfully coats the ice and Blast winces, but none the less the icy iron tail hits home on Moon Cleft, to cringes and is sent a couple of feet back.

That's it! Moon Cleft, it's time to even out the playing field a bit!

Start off with an Earthquake, and then use Rock Slide, followed by Rock Tomb.

If Blast tries to use a super-effective attack against you, use Psychic instead and hold him in place.

Move: Earthquake, Rock Slide, Rock Tomb
    Sub: Psychic (as needed)

Blast, use Protect to fend off the Earthquake.

Then, use Dragon Rage again. I don't believe that's super-effective.

Next, use Dig to burrow into the platform. You can't hurt him with the attack, but you'll avoid the Rock Tomb.

    GO!

Moon concentrates, both eyes shimmering for a moment before the rock type slams itself into the ground. A light shockwave ripples from where Lunatone is and then seemingly disappears…

A loud, and mighty groan echoes from the cables and pieces of metal that are holding up the platform. Blast nervously claps his hands together and summons a protective shield that stops him from being damaged from the hefty attack… But not the arena itself.

One of the cables snap suddenly, whipping back as the middle of the plateau creeks and shudders, pieces of metal twist out of shape and peel away. One of the walkways twists and turns before snapping under pressure. Another cable lets go and the battlefield is now slanting. Chunks of iron fall to the lava pit below and being incinerated, Blast gulps, his claws on his feet digging into the metal as he tries not to slide. Before long the long east edge of railing and bars creeks and bends, pieces of fencing becoming nothing more then sharp pieces of twisted metal.

Blast gulps; he eyes the broken middle of the platform, and the slant of his half. Summoning his bravery, the little fire type runs forward, and bravely leaps over the crack to land on the hardly slanting side. But to his horror Moon Cleft was waiting for him! Chunks of metal and iron are whipped forward in a attempt to hurt the little lizard, who cries out in horror as the sharp ‘rocks’ cut and slam into his body. Growling, Blast expels a hearty dragon rage from his mouth that licks up against Cleft but doesn’t seem to damage it that much.
In a furious attempt to escape the coming Rock Tomb, Blast scraps at the metallic ground until he claw catches the edge of a square panel. Frantically, the fire type lifts the panel and scurries inward, disappearing into the middle of the arena.
Annoyed, Cleft concentrates and summons a rock tomb. The metal groans once again as twisted metal and cooling magma burst through the plateau and presumably trapped Blast.

Blast however, seeings the attack, and laughs. Cleft has missed by a long shot.

    END!

That's Cleft. Moon Cleft, to you.

Now, Moon Cleft, it's time to do some major damage. First, wait for him to emerge, and then spin around and fire a Swift attack! Then, use a mid-air Rollout to dispel the smoke, and when he comes in for a Focus Punch, let him have it...

    GO!

The Arena shakes a bit from the breeze that flows over the plateau, the strain is continually climbing for the wires and soon enough the plateau will be a bit more then tipsy. Either way, Blast emerges behind Moon, sliding the panel to the side as he climbs out. Ready for anything! Well, almost… Cleft swings around and fires razor sharp stars at the lizard, which cringes as the edges cut into his flesh.

Wary of his foe, Blast spews out a thick cloud of smoke, blinding the Lunatone. But suddenly the rock type begins to spin, being that its already floating, it is perfectly able to use Roll out mid air. Most of the smoke is blow away, leaving only little patches.

Now comes for the big attacks, Blast clenches his fist and focuses, power soon surges into the clenched hand, but not enough… More is needed, so Blast keeps going. Much like Cleft, who is charging a white beam that already looks powerful, even if it’s halfway done. Suddenly Blast launches forward, Fist ready to slam into Cleft, who wastes no time firing off a powerful white beam of pure energy.

As the light dims, Blast is on his back, thoroughly charred from the energy that has consumed him. Cleft as a chunk missing out of its side, though the entire punch didn’t hit, the graze alone did a nice amount of damage to the Lunar Pokemon.

The ref glares at the participant Dark Sage, as she coughs loudly. “Patience is a virtue my friend. How would you like it if you had tones of projects, a party to plan, and a nasty cough to top it all off?” With a huff she turns to the battle. “Excuse me for being a little late.”

Lunatone lets out a loud groan, and Blademaster cringes, his lunar pokemon has taken a beating. With a soft smile he waves his hand and catches his pokemons attention. “Go up high and Relax!”

Moon Cleft follows its orders, levitating high into the air until it actually looks like the actual moon. But Blast, the Charmander who is out for revenge, isn’t daunted. He expels red hot flames from his mouth that fly through the air and singe Lunatone, causing it to groan.

Angrily, Lunatone concentrates. Focusing so incredibly hard that the present world fades away, and the future is all that surrounds the moon pokemon.
With a low hum, around the futuristic Charmander a glow, meaning that future sight has taken effect and Blast’s future has been horribly altered.
But Moon Cleft is rocketed back to reality when a burning sensation worse then flamethrower covers its body. The Moon lets out a horrible screech in pain before it wobbles back, angry.

Now it’s Moon’s turn to go on the direct assault, it swoops down like a Pigeot who sees a Ratatta and is surrounded by a dark purple aura. The Aura twists and shakes before it is released in Blasts face! The attack sends the fire type head over heels backwards.

Dark Sage smirks, he snaps his fingers, and Blast lifts himself back up. The lizard’s eyes glow a bright blue, almost to the point of Aqua. Blue flames ignite from the fire types body as sparks of energy zap the ground, the energy turns blue, then green, growing larger and larger as Charmander lets its built up frustration, rage, and power turn into solid energy.

    “Now!” Blast’s trainer calls. “Outrage!”

Bounding forward, Charmander uses its energy to land on top of the rock type. The energy quickly erodes the rocky surface as the Lizard swipes downwards. Moon Cleft screeches and hollows in pain as suddenly the flames grow larger before ripping away from Charmanders body to form blue and green dragon heads. Like wicked spirits they fly around Lunatone, before slamming into the moon pokemon, crumbling stone so all it is-is sand on the slated platform.
As the horrid attack ends, Charmander is not calmed, in fact, the Lizard is angrier then it is before, its own wicked feelings for the rock type clouds its mind.
Charmander has the chance to act erratically.

You should check the Absence Tower more often, Brian - Crystal has strep throat and will be gone for a few days.

Poor Crystal seems to still be sick... We need a sub-ref, Brian.

    Any takers?

    Rock Tomb ~ Ragnarok
    GO!

Still cursed with coughing fits and the sniffles, the ref returns. Tissues in hand as she takes her seat well above the battle. Grumbling numerous curses, she waves her hand and signals the battle to continue.

Blast the Charmander seems to have the lead, he charges at Cleft, and lets loose a Dragon Rage, unfortunately his attack is cute short when a cooled magma burst through the platform, forming what appears to be a tomb around the fire type. Blast cries out as Cleft lets out a low hum of happiness.

Unable to reach his opponent, Blast uses the Dragon Rage as an attack to knock the rocks away. It fails, and suddenly a soft rumble shakes the platform, threatening to topple the rocks. Suddenly the rumble returns, the platform creeks shakes violently as the attack summons hot magma rocks to slam into the underbelly of the metal frame. Making it shake and adds tremendous strain.
The rocks around Blast topple, their weight adding to the strain the platform can barely take. Suddenly the vibrations get stronger, and another two wires snap, flying across the field before hanging there. The broken middle of the platform snaps, and the two halves dangle aimlessly as Moon Cleft slowly lowers down, Blast however, is returned, as he is unconscious.

    END!

    Blast, return!

(Blast retreats back to his pokeball.)

I choose... Atlas, my male Machop!

    (Atlas emerges.)

It's Blademaster's turn to attack, so I'll wait for him.

And I'm glad this battle is back on.

Many thanks once more to the lovely Crystal Tears for reffing this match for us...

Now, then, let's get back in the game!

Moon Cleft, you've done well. Just float up out of Atlas' reach and use Psychic for the whole round.

    Move: Tri-Psy (Psychic x3)

Atlas, give him a surprise. Show him you have a ranged attack or two.

Use Flamethrower. If you don't take him out with the first one, use it again until you do.

    GO!

With a flash of light, another warrior emerges. His skin is an odd blue color and open his head is three slates that look like a pokemon’s version of corn rolls. His name is Atlas, and despite his type disadvantage against Moon Cleft, he is ready for anything.

It seems that Lunatone is in the mood for some all out brutality. Its eyes glow a deep, luminous blue, and an odd aura circles around the fighting type.
But Psychic takes a bit of time you see, and Cleft being so weak doesn’t help the process. So Atlas, seeing his opportunity, takes in a deep breath. Red hot flames that once poured from blast seem to have returned for revenge on the Lunar Pokemon, and just as Psychic is about to take a hold, the moon crashes into the hardened lava, its eyes glowing no more…

    END!

    Moon Cleft, return!

(Moon Cleft is sucked up in a flash of pink light)

    Nicely done, Cleftie. Rest now...

OK, against a Fighting type, I choose the Pokemon that our ref was kind enough to give me. Go, Blue Bird!

(hurls Pokeball; a blue-and-red bird with a forked tail bursts out)

    "Taillow!!"

Now, I believe it's our opponent's turn. Come on, Atlas - show us what you got!

Atlas, start off with a Double Team.

    Then, use Rock Slide.

    Next, use Flamethrower again.

If it uses Sky Attack, switch your current move to Counter to hit him back hard.

In the immortal words of the legendary Muhammad Ali:

"Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee!
You can't hit what you can't see!"

Blue Bird, use Aerial Ace to foil that Double Team, and then dodge and strike his Rock Slide with Quick Attack. Finish with Fly to evade the Flamethrower and, if there's time left, dive bomb that little ruffian.

Move: Aerial Ace, Quick Attack, Fly

    Battle Song: Intoxication ~ Disturbed

    GO!

The heat of the pit begins to boil each pokemon’s skin. Their stomachs churn uncomfortably as the fumes enter their lungs and slowly start to suffocate them. Only fire and rock are welcomed here, and these too are intruders.

Seeming to ignore the searing heat, Atlas splits into four copies of himself. He smiles, ignoring the sweat that beads on his forward. Blue Bird ignores this; he does a loop in the air before gaining incredible speed. He is like one of the ace pilots in a World War II move, coming in low over the boil lava to sweep upwards and release two bright sickles of compress air. They too, cut through the air and slam into the real Atlas who cringes, but remains ever defiant.

Atlas swivels now, Blue Bird is about 10 feet away from him, easily flying over the magma like it was a grassy field. Atlas growls, reaching down, he picks up flaming hot rock from the lava on either side of him.
Blue Bird has to make a turn around, rising up just a bit he does a wide turn. But his eyes grow large and his cries out in shock as a red-hot rock slams into the lava a foot in front of him. The Taillow’s sharp eyes narrow at Atlas, and suddenly a burst of speed comes to the bird.

The speed is carelessly fast, but the blue blur that nimbly dodges the fiery rocks takes another chance. Following his trainers commands he goes up, speeding up even more as he heads for a chunk of rock.

Atlas cheers as he watches his opponent spin through the air in a dazed free fall. Luck seems to be on the bird’s side though, as he manages to roughly land on a small piece of dried magma. The Taillow recovers quickly though, shaking his head to get rid of the cross-eyed expression the rock had left him with.

But Atlas has the upper hand now, as the bird is just beginning to get off the ground, he heaves. Hot air fuels his raging soul as he spews out flames. They grow abnormally large in the heat, and Blue Bird is forced to fly as fast as he wings can carry up in a straight upwards dash. The sheer heat of the attack singes his tail feathers and manages to nick the tip of his wing before subsiding. Unfortunately, this round has come to an end; Blue Bird has no time to dive bomb.

    END!

In my haste to post, I seem to have flipped a few phrases in there... It should have read 'dodge his Rock Slide and strike with Quick Attack.' Feh...

OK, BB, start the round off by staying in the air and using Focus Energy, and then use Agility combined with Fly to dive-bomb Atlas.

If Atlas tries any Rock attacks, use Quick Attack to dodge and strike Atlas instead.
