Man I should have thought that through, you'd think having finished year 12 would make you remotely intelligent, but no.

mr_pikachu - just a note about your browser, antivirus software actually is never 100% safe, it's actually quite likely to screw up your system (note: not as bad as a virus!).

The puppet/doll with a knife.. it reminds me of some puppet show I saw as a little kid that scared the hell out of me.

The thing about antivirus software screwing up your system is especially true for the latest versions of Norton. I used to have McAffee years ago and it was good. Now I use AVG on Windows and F-Prot on Linux. But it's true that no program can detect ALL existing viruses.

My attempt at a joke has failed.. probably the whole 1 am factor

I can understand how my comment could've been seen as serious however.

I know the feeling, I have an unstoppable tendency towards following other people's jokes and hardly anyone ever notices I'm not being serious. Sorry about that.

Hey! Just passing through... how's the forum doing these days?

    We are half-hearted creatures,
Fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us,

Hey CP, what's up? Haven't seen you around in ages, remember me? (Probably not.) Anyway, as a whole TPM is undergoing a slow dying process, which is understandable considering the decline of Pokemon. (If you thought the board was dying when you left, you have no idea.) But Fanfic's doing okay. Most of the people who were here when I joined (2003) have left, but there have been quite a few new members as well, especially Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. Oh yeah, I don't think anyone's surpassed TEL as a trainer fic just yet. That's about it, I guess. (Are you even going to return and read this?)

    Howdy Ceeps, what's crackin?

Ada and Gabi kinda summed up the state of the forums for you; the situation is about twice as bad as when you disappeared. But hey, what can we do? People are still writing and reading, we all kind of like the laid-back feel here, although a bit more activity would be dandy.

Are you planning some kind of return or did you just pass through as a one-off? Either way, hope to see you around.

    Cheers!

    Hey, it's the Cap'n! What's up, man?

Fanfic's still doing pretty well despite the issues at TPM, methinks. I'm already looking forward to our upcoming E-zine, and the Silver Pencil Awards we just completed were another rousing success. There's a bit less activity, yes, but we still have a solid amount. Also, the posts here are usually quite good - not much spamming and such.

By the way, you really ought to repost TEL if you get the chance. It was lost during the server move, and our efforts to recover it have repeatedly failed. If you'd like to put it up here once more, I'm sure we'd all enjoy being able to read it again. ^_^

As little as I actively do here, I don't think Pokemasters is dying. It's just adjusting its focus to fit the times.

Of course, as I have little else in my life, it had better not die.

Wow... this place isn't as dead as I thought. I was thinking it might take days for anyone to reply, but I check back a day later and there are 5 replies!

mistysakura, i definitely remember you! no way i could forget.

Gavin, I'm not at all planning a return to fanfiction. Just stopping in to chat with some old friends. Things are pretty different these days... I was 14 and still new to high school when I joined TPM; now I'm 21, about to graduate college, Christian, dating my best friend, and looking to get a job and a family soon. Haha, I guess somewhere along the way, the message boards and fanfiction dropped out more and more for me. I've even left my own message board, pretty much.

mr_pikachu... haha, i dunno about reposting TEL. It feels like something I've done a few too many times here. :p I know it's not currently posted anywhere online in its entirety (as someone noted in the Searching for a Fic thread, only 38 out of 40 chapters are posted on UBCS... and it's a heck of a messy thread after all these years), but I dunno... I totally didn't stop by with the intention of doing anything like that.

Anyway, how's life going for all you guys? I know it's been a long time, and I know things have changed a lot for me (mostly for the better, thank God)... so I'm curious what's been going on for you guys lately.

UBCS... That's an acronym I hadn't seen for years.

I'd post an answer to your question, but it looks like it wasn't directed to me, so I'll let Ada, Brian and Gavin reply.

*Looks at your sig.* On the contrary, I think most people are too easily displeased. Joy and happiness are too good to be missed, let alone intentionally. But that is, of course, my opinion. It's ok to disagree.

I always used UBoCS for some reason, I just added the 'of' into the acronym, or did everyone do that?

I'm going well, anyway: I was 12 when I joined TPM back in the day, so obviously a lot has changed - I'm 18 now, about to start University and currently working full-time as a labourer (digging holes ... etc). A lot of the old crowd have disappeared from here (as you can see - most of the mods who were here when you were around have mostly left, save for Martin) but we're still going strong really. I'm STILL writing Lisa the Legend though - some things never change.

Hey Cap'n, while you're here, I'd like to ask a question. A friend of mine who used to go here says that you gave him a complete copy of TEL. (His name's Darien Shields, if that means anything to you.) I was already planning on getting a copy from him for myself.

Here's my question. I know you said you didn't want to repost TEL, but would you mind it if someone else reposted the piece in directly into the FF Archive? That's where it was before the server move, anyway. Just thought I'd ask, because it seems like a shame to lose such a classic fic.

Stuff is going well. Soon to be 18, starting university soon, who knows, might end up majoring in creative writing. It's one of my planned subjects anyway. What else... oh yeah, can legally drink in ten days, woot (but I don't like the taste of alcohol anyway). I came to fanfic when I was thirteen (mucked around in TCG here when I was about eleven), was modded at fourteen, and despite graduating from high school and all that stuff, things haven't changed drastically for me yet. Ah well whatever.

nope i do not know what is =(. for us we have to pick a concentration in creative writing, either fiction non-fiction or poetry. whichever one we pick we take the intro, intermediate, and advanced workshop courses, and an intro workshop for one other one. i'm focusing on fiction with intro to poetry there too. the rest of the credits are filled out by a couple composition classes to start out (if you don't test out of them coming into college) and english classes, which can be stuff like renaissance drama, Chaucer, Milton, contemporary literature, even some linguistics.

I'm confused... you said you disagree with it, but it actually sounds like you agree. Lewis is saying that joy is too good to be missed. He's just saying that people miss out on true true joy, while chasing after lesser pleasures in life.

A dead smiley town isn't very shiny.

So - how was everone's easter?

Mine was good - we had a big family congregation as usual. The most unexpected thing was Easter Sunday. I hadn't eaten a grain of chocolate during the entirety of Lent, about six weeks. I finally get a heap of chocolate eggs on Sunday morning, and my taste buds go, "Hmm, you know what, this isn't my cup of tea after all."

    What's up with that?

We don't do Easter. Short answer.

On the other hand, the family and I did go on holiday for a couple of days, which was great. We went to a lot of beaches, lazed around, ate too much food... it was good.

Finals are fast approaching for me. I've got two, possibly three exams that I need to ace to make halfway-decent grades this semester. (It's been a really terrible term.) The pressure's on!

So, how's school been treating you? Is anyone else about to deal with final exams, or are you on one of those weird schedules where your year's just beginning?

"So - how was everone's easter?"

Lazy Easter. Three weeks off of College <3

Went over to my cousin's house over Easter, they're Christian which was a bit awkward (since I'm not) but I found it somewhat amusing that my little cousin was questioning the teachings of the Bible at the dinner table. Aside from that it all went well, they're the kind of religious people who usually don't speak about it much.

Aside from that, Lazy Lazy LAZEEE I love being able to snooze in until 2-4PM and just generally bum around however I like. Returning to Col is going to be a ridiculous shock (although all the classes are at night anyway so I can snooze in still, just not as long as before :p).

"Is anyone else about to deal with final exams"

Yes, but I'm not putting much effort into worrying about them. I done the same thing last year and it worked, that's the plan again.

Yep, I'm on one of those weird schedules where my year's just starting. Nah, actually I've got a fair bit of assessment already, but stuff should be okay. Unlike Whisper in the Wind though, my Easter break was only one week, and it wasn't much of a break anyway. Some... bad stuff... happened, and studying took over sometimes. Ah well, was still able to procrastinate and have fun and whatnot.

O.O Sickening... and wrong. To think such disgraceful treatment has been given to those in other parts of the world.

[Really, I thought everyone atleast had a 4 day weekend off.]

I did get that Friday off, although I didn't get to relax much. I still need a break.

Cool, Argentina, I don't think I've ever met someone from Argentina actually. All I really know about Argentina is they have a good track record against us at Football >.< (Well that and its in South America)

    *eye twitches wildly*

My parents didn't want me to come home immediately after school let out because the house was having some problems. (It flooded a few months ago - don't ask - and the repairs still haven't been completed.) So I stayed at a friend's house on Friday night, went to his graduation on Saturday, slept there again that night, and drove home Sunday. Hence why I haven't been here.

I came home to find that the entire right side of the house was completely devoid of furniture (and was mostly inaccesible). Note that the right side includes the living room, the guest bedroom, my parents' bedroom, and the master bathroom. The remaining portion includes the kitchen, my bedroom, a small bathroom, the laundry room, and the attic.

My parents have been using my bedroom since theirs has no bed. This left me with, much like poor little Harry Potter, the attic. There's a couch up there with blankets and a pillow. Yay. Real comfortable, considering that the air conditioner doesn't reach the attic, thus leaving me completely susceptible to the 80-degree heat coupled with wicked humidity. And that's the temperature at night.

Of course, the workers really went at it today... er, it's after midnight now, so I guess that would be yesterday, wouldn't it? Anyway, now none of us can so much as step foot inside the house. To make a long story short, my family is staying with my grandparents, I'm lodged in the tiny second guest bedroom, their computer is so old and buggy that it can't even read forum text correctly, and there's no way in heck that I can get anything accomplished until at least late tomorrow; it'll probably be more like Thursday before I can even set up my computer in the little boiler room back home.

I spent most of the day trying to go completely insane so that I could laugh at the whole thing, and I'm left longing for the attic. But maybe the fact that I'm slightly smiling shows that I succeeded.

Wow, you're back! For a second there I thought someone had hunted you down and driven a stake through your heart. *makes a cross with her fingers to stave him off*

But seriously, did the flooding problem have anything to do with the water heater? Because that's what happened to me the last time we had to have renovations done to the house.

Anyway, if you do go completely insane, don't mess with anyone named Van anything or Buffy. *holds out holy water*

Hush, Shonta! You're supposed to keep my vampirism a secret! *casts sideways glance*

To answer your question, the flooding had nothing to do with the hot water heater. It had a lot more to do with my dad turning on a hose inside the living room.

Sorry, Brian ... but I can't not laugh at that. Despite the damage/problems caused. Huhuhu. Er - sorry for your troubles, etc. etc.
