    Default detailed discussion: Dustox

im planning on making this guy my mascot... i practically dumped my starter for this loveable guy

trait is shield dust- shields pokemon from the additional effects of moves
that trait is going to be very useful when the serene gracers arrive in the future....

    weaknesses 2x fire, 2x flying, 2x Psychic, 2x Rock
    resisitances 4x fighting, 4x grass
    immunitites none

    Lv1 Confusion
    Lv10 Confusion
    Lv13 Gust
    Lv17 Protect
    Lv20 Moonlight .
    Lv24 Psybeam
    Lv27 Whirlwind
    Lv31 Light Screen
    Lv34 Silver Wind
    Lv38 Toxic

    TM06 Toxic
    TM10 Hidden Power
    TM11 Sunny Day
    TM15 Hyper Beam
    TM16 Light Screen
    TM17 Protect
    TM19 Giga Drain
    TM21 Frustration
    TM22 Solarbeam
    TM27 Return
    TM29 Psychic
    TM30 Shadow Ball
    TM32 Double Team
    TM36 Sludge Bomb
    TM40 Aerial Ace
    TM42 Facade
    TM43 Secret Power
    TM44 Rest
    TM45 Attract
    TM46 Thief
    HM05 Flash

    no egg moves

i dont want to go too much into his stats but ill give you the max of each under a beneficial personality

    max stats under beneficial personality
    hp 293-324
    attack 184-218
    defense 228-262
    speed 217-251
    special attack 184-218
    special defense 272-306

as you can see the lunar moth has no reason to be attacking, what it is intended for is kind of spelled out by what it learns naturally. I think it is the only pokemon capable of learning toxic by level plus it gets whirlwind, moonlight, and lightscreen.

    dustox@leppa berry(restores pp)
    shield dust
    calm/careful

    toxic
    whirlwind
    light screen
    moonlight

toxic shuffler as well as a special defense tank. Calm/careful boost special defense while either lowering attack or special attack, he wont be needing them. I also like this guys 4x resistance to fighting, neutral damage from eartquake, etc. etc. leppa berry keeps moonlight going while toxic drains the strength,
also consider dustox for pseudo hazing capabilities with flash and whirlwind

dustox aint so bad its the first butterfree/beedrill thing that actually isnt defensively weak, but it alos doesnt have tank compatability, and is offensively weak... wouldnt be bad for the occasional status buff or whatever... heh,i dont like it, if it were defensively stronger i would, but... you know...

it is a tad bit insulting that I receive a lack of responses to my posts, if anything on this forum

    IN DEPTH DISCUSSION

and may i ask is there a reason i dont receive responses?
well ill be radical and resurrect this topic

since ive already mentioned a moveset i would like to detail shield dust, dustox's cool trait

shields pokemon from additional effects of moves

    wow thats cool
well assuming dustox doesnt get skill swapped
    he will never:
    be frozen
    flinch
receive stat losses such as lowered defense from crush claw

i also assume that a curse from a ghost type would result in the ghost losing hp but no curse taking effect since the curse is the secondary effect

yet lets consider giga drain by tm
giga drain MIGHT not heal dustox since HP recovery is the secondary effect of this attack, and perhaps dustox's trait prevents secondary effects such as silver winds stat boosts
    hmmmmmm

Unfortunetely, Shield Dust only prevents ADDITIONAL effects. So moves like Sand Attack, Spore, Thunder Wave, and Leer will still effect it, however, Secret Power, Mud Slap, and Rock Smash won't do anything. btw. it also has a 2x resistance to poison and a 2x resistance to Bug(Being Poison DOES have its advantages).

A good point about Dustox though... it naturally learns Toxic... saves you your only TM06... A nice hidden plus to Dustox.

Dustox isn't real good at being a tank... but Silver Wind and Moonlight should work well for it to last... Gets Giga Drain too... hmmm...

    Staller.

    Dustox:

    -Attack +Defense

    Sheild Dust

    Silver Wind
    Moon Light
    Giga Drain/Psychic
    Toxic

Now, this set's use is simple, Silver Wind and Moonlight to heal and raise stats, Toxic for fugly Hazers, Giga Drain is for more healing, though kinda pointless with the low SA... Psychic is a higher PP move, and generally more usable.

bug/poison has a ton more weakness than it does resistance.... and dustox can still be pard and stuff, shield dust is good but heh... it aint the best, its too weak to be a tank, and too weak to be n attacker, does it learn confuse ray? confuse ray, toxic, moonlight, silver wind owuld be what i would go with if not... heh... whatever

No, the damage from curse and the HP gained from draining moves ARE their main effects. A secondary effect is just a stat penalty or ailment that tags along with a damaging move.

Poison Tail's effect usually doesn't work on Poison type pokemon anyway.

Well Dustox is different, you should have added that Dustox's evolution is randomly picked. Well Dustox is a pokemon that I can skip, next discussion.
If something is wrong, please say so.

i read that wurmple will evolve into cascoon at night and silcoon during the morning
in the day its random evolution
    cascoon evolves into dustox
    silcoon evolves into beautifly

Nope, it's random. There's absolutely no way to predict how your wurmple will evolve, so you're better off catching a cascoon or silcoon in the woods.

true but people have found that like 75% of male wurmples turn into cascoon and 75% of females into silcoon... but who cares it takes like 2 minutes to evolve one... -_-
