If it was a grab
That you tried to make,
I was once the best
Of all you could take.
They can be caught in the wild. It is a decent rock and fire pokemon since it can learn some of the strongest rock, fire, and normal type attacks.


My combination
Was perfect, it’s true.
But with a new land
Comes greater speed, too.
My moves once were perfect,
But now those are lies.
Being a rock/fire type makes it extremely weak against water. In ruby and saphire a lot of new water pokemon were introduced, which is a bad thing. All of those powerful attacks that it can learn won't do any good since there is a good chance that your opponent will be a water type.


If I am struck well,
You may lose your prize!
If you hit Slugma/Magcargo there is a chance og getting burned by it's flame body ability. This can decrease your chances of winning.

It's Parasect.

In GSC, Parasect was the best Pokemon with Spore and False Swipe. (Paras was the only other Pokemon that could learn both those moves, and it was naturally weaker.)


My combination
Was perfect, it’s true.

Spore puts an opponent to sleep without fail, while False Swipe whittles down HP without inducing a KO. This is the best way to ensure a capture, besides using a better ball.


But with a new land
Comes greater speed, too.

With the addition of RSE came Breloom, a faster Pokemon with the same moves.


My moves once were perfect,
But now those are lies.

Parasect is not only slower than Breloom, but its Effect Spore ability could poison the opponent and spell catastrophe.

Effect Spore has the potential to inflict a damage-dealing effect on the opponent if Parasect is hit; this may knock out the opponent and make you miss your capture.

Flying wisdom I have found.
It's a second generation pokemon. It's also an owl which are considered to be wise.

If I’m down, I’ll rise up quick
And a miss I’ll never pick.
Hoothoot/Noctowl can learn foresight which prevents your opponents pokemon from raising it's evasiveness.

If my mates have equal skills,
Be afraid, ‘cause we score kills.
Hypnosis/Dream eater combination is something to be afraid of

Never try to smoke my field,
Or I’ll bite away your shield.
Smokescreen increases a pokemon evasiveness, which can be overcome with foresight, allowing you to use peck to attack, which is the bird equivulant of biting.

My reason behind this was that you can't catch it in ruby (rubies are red) but you can catch them in emerald (emeralds are green)
