thngs are kind of getting slow on these boards

new question, are the stockpile, swallow, andor spitup abilities worth using

Pokemon that can get them are peliper, seviper, walreign, cradilly, mawile, swalot

    move explanation
stockpile is like gaining a counter (in a token sense) for spitup or swallow and can be used up to three times

swallow heals HP depending on how much you stockpiled
spitup deals damage depending on how much you stockpile

this whole strategy seems like a bide technique requiring up to three moveslots, which i wouldnt recommend

so if your going to use stockpile, choose swallow or spit up, but only one of them depending on the strategy

I imagine that you dont have to use the moves consecutively and can unleash a spit or swallow anytime, so might this be a good idea for stallers and tanks?

walreign looks like the best canidate, because of his tank stats

but the real question is whether it offers significant damage or healing capabities, or is just another worthless move when you battle serious trainers?

They're not worth using if the counter resets, but if you can use it anytime after you stock up they're good. I'm too lazy to go check. Anybody wanna do that?

Stockpile: Gives you a "stock counter" every time (up to 3 times) you use it

Swallow: Heals HP depending on how many times you used Stockpile. 1/4 Hp for 1 "counter", 1/2 Hp for 2 "counters", 100% HP for 3 "counters"

Spit Up. Power is 100*(nimber of "counters")

All 3 moves are normal typed.

3 turns stocking up = three free moves for the opponent. In that amount of time you could have rested and woken up or used a damaging move three times in a row.

Which means that it's only good if you have DoubleTeam or the like on the pokemon, which may allow it to survive that long.

The problem with Stockpile and company: there's always something better to use:

Swallow: Okay, you can recover variable amounts with Swallow, but that's where the advantages end.

    a) Swallow and Stockpile require two moveslots.
    b) Swallow recovers full at the end of three turns, healing on the fourth. Rest, on the other hand, heals immediately and only requires two turns of sleep.

Spit Up: Hefty amount of damage in a single turn (300 power), but over the four turns, Return\Frustration can deal 412 power's worth of damage.

In conclusion: Stockpile\Spit Up\Swallow is great for fun teams, but not elsewhere.

    Just tested the Stockpile thing.

The counters DO NOT stay -- they are used up.

Thus, the Stockpile group of moves is useless.

    ... what are you saying?

Like, if you use Stockpile, then another move OTHER than Spit Up or Swallow, the stockpile is gone?

That's pathetic. If you want the full power of the moves, you'll have to do 4 turns in a row? -_-

Counters stay until you use Spit Up/Swallow, but you then have to recharge with Stockpile.

That's why the Stockpile set of moves sucks.

I think we all new that the counter resets when you use the moves...-_-

When people were worrying about wether or not ir resets, they were worrying about wether or not the counters would stay until you used swallow/spit up.

Personally, I think Swallow could be great on a Tank. Imagine that, early on in the match, you got in three stockpiles, not consecutively, and your both down to your last dregs of HP. A good swallow, and the opponent shall wish to throw themselves from a window.

Spit Up on the other hand...bleh. It's like Hyper Beam. The power is alluring, but the amount of time that must be invested puts a dent into it's usefulness.

Incidentally, using Stockpile, and then Soit Up and Swallow (in either order) is a great combo for the toughness contest.

(And finding a Gulpin with a Tough personality should be easy.)

The difference with rest and swallow is that after you heal you have two vulnerable turns while after you swallow you only have one.
