Emergence
Of bodies chang'd to various forms, I sing:
Ye Gods, from whom these miracles did spring,
Inspire my numbers with coelestial heat;
'Till my long laborious work compleat:
And add perpetual tenour to my rhimes,
Deduc'd from Nature's birth, to Caesar's times.
In the year 2009, Magic returned to the world, things like lycanthropy, elven traits, and all sorts of other things like latent magical abilities and bloodlines all reactivated, leading to, among other things, mass hysteria and an eventual stabilization of the infrastructure five years later, 2014 AD, or, more commonly, year 1 PE(Post Emergence). Ten years have passed since, and life has, for the most part, normalized. Humans are now a mere 45% of the population and account for the majority of the upper and middle economic classes, though the changed people are merely classified as people with extraordinary abilities.
There are new sections, however, of police departments, and the military and government made to deal with the changes. Most notably, the incorporation of teams of "Emerged" individuals into the task forces, to make dealing with similarly Emerged individuals more easy. Bearing special skills and abilities, Emerged individuals have, to an extent, revolutionized the law and order process, Weres using their senses of smell, elves their grave and accuracy, and a whole slew of things, making them suited to their jobs.
However, there are also Emerged criminals, people who would use their gifts to take what they want or harm others. Due to this, the Emerged Units in the police departments are given jurisdiction over their peers, and special permission to handle cases where Emerged individuals are suspected to be involved.
You, are a member of the Emerged Police Unit in Absolution, a city in the American Midwest. Formerly a small town formed back during days when the midwest was a frontier, it, since the early nineties, experienced a growth spurt, growing into the vast metropoplis it is today, a cultural and economic center with millions of people in it.
Races(If you want something not on the list, please PM or IM me with a question):
Elf/Elves: Seemingly human, save for long, pointed ears ranging from three to four inches long, and being, in general, very beautiful, in a refined, graceful manner, Elves are best known for their inherent grace, and sharp eyes and ears.
Werecreatures/'Lycanthropes': One of the less common Emerged, they have three forms based on their associated animal, human, hybrid, and full animal. Their mental state is, at night, affected by the moon, leading them to animalistic, agitated stated of mind at the full moon, though there are methods to hold it off. Silver can, if extremely pure, burn them, but if it is impure, it won't have much or any outward effect. Can only turn another into a Were with a direct transmission of blood.
Faeries: Small humanoids around six inches tall, and with insect like wings ranging from that of a butterfly to those of a dragonfly, they can, with concentration, form illusions. They however, have little physical strength to speak of.
Vampires: The "undead" nightwalkers are known for super humanly acute senses and inhuman strength, but they can't stay for more than fifteen minutes in direct sunlight, or they begin to burn. Can eat or drink as normal, but blood is ultra healthy for them, and they possess a natural addiction to it. Bites require vampire blood to propogate themselves.
Incubi/Succubi: Two seperate races(a woman can become an Incubus, and thus a guy, or vice versa), they look like humans with skin, eyes and hair of any imaginable hue, small horns on their forehead, wings, and a tail with a spade shaped tip. They are naturally sensuous, but also inherently predatory, bearing inhuman strength. Can turn others into one like them by biting them and forcing some of their 'essence' into the subject.
Humans: You know what these are.
Sign-Up Form: (note, there are two Non-police slots, and they are already reserved. Thos who have them, note it in your Other category.)

My Char:
Name: Kyla Hamilton
Age:26
Race:Werewolf
Gender:Female
Personality: Nice, but direct and straight to the point. Has something of a no nonsense streak. She seems to, at the same time, have an "all the time in the world" additude, but doesn't hesitate either.
Appearance: In human form, she stands 5'6", and is rather well built, usually wearing overly large shirts, and stretchy pants and undergarments that can stretch to fit her hybrid form. This usually consists of a T-shirt and what appear to be Jeans with overly wide legs. She has brownish gray hair to her shoulders and yellow eyes.
Appearance2: In Hybrid form, she stands 6'1", and has more muscle to her form, but not to bodybuilder looking proportions. She's covered in brownish gray fur, and her ears are now canine in nature, on top of her head. Her fingers and feet are tipped with wicked claws, and she has a slight muzzle filled with nice pearly teeth.
Skills: Is VERY good at using her sense of smell, and isn't bad with her gun either. She knows the rules in and out, and can easily find loopholes when she needs to.
History: She Emerged as a werewolf at the age of twelve, and, after things calmed down, went through a therapy program to help her get a handle on her urges and changes. She turned towards law enforcement shortly after her mother mysteriously recovered from cancer when she was seventeen.
Other: Woo!
Name: Sofia Kristof
Age: 40-ish
Race: Succubus
Gender: Female(duh)
Personality: Direct, sensuous, and blunt, she says and does what she means to say and do. As well as people she means to do. She is an exception to the general trend that most people try to cling to some semblance of their old self, and embraced her new, sensual, predatory nature. She tends to be a bit forward with people.
Appearance: Standing at six feet tall, she has a body a porn star would die for. Her skin is a fine, slightly violet pink, and her eyes are a gemlike ruby color. Tending to wear a set of hot pants and a tank top, or less, she is one of the members of the department people don't think is a cop at first.
Skills: Heavy combat expert, seduction, living terror weapon(People tend to freak when someone walks in eating their former comrade's heart)
History:Her history, is, for the most part, pretty much unknown before the point where she litterally walked into the lobby of the department and applied for a job, and has been with the department for all ten years of its existence.
Other:Has a little black book of people she has done, and plans to do. She even records how many times and how good they were. This book has gotten near legendary status, as it's become something of a departmental contest to try and find where she hides it. No one's succeeded yet.
Kyla

I sighed, stretching and getting out of bed, yawning, making my slight muzzle open wide. Walking, or, more appropriately, shuffling out of my bedroom and into the department's kitchen. Opening the fridge, I poked around, pulling out a gallon of milk, and a chunk of raw meat, snacking on the meat as I poured myself a glass of milk. Putting the milk away, I retrieved some coffee, mixing it into the milk, and downing the nasty concoction, shivering as it went down. Now that I was awake, I headed to one of the bathrooms for the living sections, carrying my clothes in with me.
Once I'd closed the door, I concentrated for a sec, shifting over to human form. Turning on the hot water, I cleaned myself, after checking to make sure the resident prankster hadn't messed with my shampoo. The hot water always felt so nice... Once that was done, I opened the medicine cabinet, pulling out a small syringe full of a liquid with silvery glittering spots in it. Sighing, I pulled the cap off the needle. Taking a breath, I pushed it into my free arm, squeezing the substance in. Getting dressed, I headed out to see what was going on in the station.
I headed down to the, as we called it, "Case Room" where reports were compiled and gathered, and handed out for active police members. No one was here at the moment, I plucked up a case sheet in the "Immediate" bin, which was those that were new, fresh, and hot. Glancing it over, I sighed, it appeared someone had wandered into the area of the slums alternately called "Were Town" or more negatively, "The Zoo". The poor schmuck was now a corpse. This one needed to be solved quickly, or it could start racial issues. Sighing, I headed to my office, bringing the file with me. It looked like we were going to have a busy case.
I headed around, gathering the others, and bringing them in. "Okay, we've got a case. Some idiot got killed in Were Town. We need to find out what happened, why, how long ago, and who did it. Mikhal, I hate to do this to you, but you're going to need to bring an umbrella or something, we can't wait till nightfall. It's on Thirty-fourth street, get everything ready and let's get the hell out there."

Okay, Just a bit of info, the department or station is a large building with two sections, one's more of a standard police station, with cells, an armory, offices, a motor pool, and such. The other section is a living section where you are free to live at, it has apartment like bedrooms, a group kitchen for each of the three floors, and a two bathrooms on each floor.
This IS the future, but what with the chaos of the Emergence and then the adjustment following it, technology hasn't radically advanced or anything. Other than having pure, clean ethanol fuel, and minor consumer advancements(Like the latest Nintendo console, the Paragon, for example) not much has changed.
