Hose in a living room? Strange, very strange indeed...
Hang in there, man.
Nice view from the river! That's quite far away from where I live, but yes, that's the city. Luckily there are no tall buildings in my neighbourhood. Nothing above 3 floors and I hope it stays that way.
Sorry about what happened to your house, Brian. I can't imagine the events that would lead to a hose being turned on inside a living room, but I hope you can all sort it out soon.

Hose in a living room? Strange, very strange indeed...
Hang in there, man.
Please take it easy~
Flood: Yes, well, he actually started by doing a good thing. See, we have a fountain in the living room. (I really don't get the point; it's unnecessary, it looks really tacky, the whole thing's actually kind of dirty, and it's hard to walk around it because it's stupidly big for such a small room.)
Water, as I'm sure you all know, evaporates. So every once in awhile somebody has to fill it again, and this is usually done with a hose. So, one day while my mom was shopping for groceries, my dad decided to fill up the fountain. He dragged the hose inside, stuck it in the fountain, and turned on the faucet. Then he turned on a baseball game. And sat down on the couch. And fell asleep.
Imagine the look on my mom's face when she came home to find that her hardwood floors had become the bottom of a lake.
CEB: I would love to participate, but as I told Plantae yesterday, I can't this round because I'm going to be out of town for a couple of weeks starting in late May. When I return home in June, though, I look forward to getting back in the game.
Gavin: Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up! >_>
Ada: Believe me, I've had those for almost a week. It's been painful!
Gabi: Well, I'm back in the attic right now, and I just finished setting up my computer. So things are returning to some semblance of normalcy. And once we can take the sofa and bookcases from the kitchen and remove the queen-size bed from my parents' bathtub, it'll be really nice!
Faiz: ...The line about "hanging in there" made me picture myself dangling from a ceiling fan to avoid a river rushing through the hallway.
Water hose? Excuse me for a second.
*goes outside and laughs her head off*
*comes back in while trying to catch her breath* That's very unfortunate. Hopefully you'll get better carpet and tiles. And hopefully your dad got what was coming to him. I can only imagine your mom's angry face and her impersonation of Dokuro-chan. ^^

Okay, I just had to get on TPM to let you all know how my vacation's going so far.
For starters, my parents and I arrived in Philadelphia by plane on Wednesday. Fairly busy place, though not quite as overwhelming as I had expected. Must be that whole "city of brotherly love" thing. Anyway, it was pouring buckets outside, so we just rested in the hotel room. It was a long day, with multiple connection flights and stuff.
Thursday was cool. We began by visiting the Liberty Bell, which was just amazing; there's a lot of history tied to that broken device! There were some kids there for a school tour, so it was a little crazy, but no matter. Still fun. After leaving there, we grabbed a bit of lunch and headed to see a Brewers-Phillies baseball game.
I must say, the game itself was uneventful; the Phillies never could get anything going, and they lost 3-2 despite numerous blown opportunities by Milwaukee. But during the break after the sixth inning, a 50-something fan (who I must say, appeared to be rather drunk) had a little fun. He ended up jumping/falling over the wall in left-center field and running toward the infield. Security was apparently very lax, as they didn't even get near him until he reached second base! Anyway, his attempts to evade their grasp were rather clumsy - that's what made me think he was drunk - and he was tackled, pinned, and hauled away by security guards who carefully held a bag over his privates.
...Oh yeah. About that. The dude was naked. Buck-naked. I mean, there wasn't a sock to be seen. And he kinda had, um, square cheeks, if you get my meaning.
That was probably an important part of the story, huh? Yeah. It's the first time I've ever seen a streaker in person.
So anyway. We laughed about that over dinner before retiring to our rooms once more. Hey, it's tiring to walk around a big city all day long!
Finally, we decided to revisit the Liberty Bell yesterday, since my mom's camera was out of memory card space the first time. There wasn't much time to do anything else before our train ride to New York (which, I might add, was delayed by almost an hour). Upon arriving, we found out that our room had been given to someone else - apparently Travelocity doesn't guarantee you the room you request, even if it's available when you go to their website. Bleh. So we're staying in a handicapped-accessible room right now, which is surprisingly not all that horrible. Except for my relegation to the fold-out couch, at least.
Dinner was at Chili's. And if you ever go to New York, do not expect to save money. Everything on the menu was at least 1.5 times what it is where we live (trust me, I eat at our local Chili's often enough to know), and some things were easily twice their usual price. I ended up just getting chicken fingers rather than some $23 ribs. They're good, but they're not that good. At least we got to see the Mets embarrass the Yankees on TV while we ate. They just cannot string together hits to save their lives, and Torre's gonna lose his job as manager if he doesn't get them playing (and behaving) like a team. Heck, they could easily hire Girardi, who'd make an excellent manager. I don't think this nonsense is entirely Torre's fault, but if the Yanks don't start winning now, he's going to take the blame for it.
Anyway. It's one in the morning, and I'm pushing my luck by being on the computer right now. If I see anything else that's as noteworthy as a middle-aged man stripping in front of 31,553 people, I'll be sure to let you know.
lol, nice streaker story. you know that's the lasting image of this vacation. when someone asks you about your trip to philly 5 yrs from now the first picture that pops up in your head will be square cheeks. you're right about the yanks, it's insane how shitty they're playing right now, but it's still early in the season. keep having fun on the vacation
Oh God...
Go wash your eyes out. Now! Before the image is forever burned in your mind! Before that old naked man appears in your dreams! AAAAAH! *passes out in shock*

Hee hee hee.
Man, a streaker ... heh. Disturbing yet hilarious. As soon as you mentioned the Liberty Bell, my first thought was, "That was in National Treasure!" As in, the movie. But hopefully your "holiday" didn't eventuate because you're on the run from the FBI, having stolen the Declaration of Independence.
Anyway - glad to hear you're having a good time; enjoy, and we'll see ya when you get back.

Just in case Roy Karrde, Gabi, or Brian didn't tell you, I had a little accident Friday. I was in my own little world at home and didn't notice that the tote in the hallway stood just outside the doorway to Mom's room. I tripped and bore too much weight on the right side of my right foot. The first two hours were pure hell on earth. Like spraining my foot was too unoriginal, this time it had to be the foot.
At first I didn't know if it was a sprain or fracture. My brother said that the same thing happened to him and it was just a sprain so I was slow to go to the doctor. Besides, the pain pretty much went away after a while. It was just too uncomfortable to bear weight on my right foot.
If there was a way to get my brother Rod to be nice to me, it's to either get too sick to go outside or get injured. Then he'll bring my meals and other stuff and act like an angel.
I attended Rod's graduation party (it was for him and two of my graduating cousins), confined to a chair in the backyard. Judging by my relatives' reactions, Mom didn't tell any of them about my accident. Dad came by (parents are divorced) and told me that he had a job interview coming up (he got fired from the previous one). He told me that if my foot didn't get any better, get Mom to take me to the hospital. Which was better than his first reaction, which was simply telling me that he couldn't do it.
Then Sunday came along. I was still bearing weight on my right heel so I called Dad again and asked him to take me to the emergency room. First he said to call him back in a couple of hours. Two hours later, he told me that he couldn't do it and told me to get Mom to take me. By the way, she told me to call Dad in the first place. Mom was out so I called my aunt who called my Mom. She came over to take me to the hospital.
Cooper Green sucks. It's so...unwelcoming. I would even go so far as to call it ghetto. The decor...there was no decor. And the picture on the wall doesn't count!
Let's just say that I should've just gone with my first instincts and told Mom that it was a broken bone in the first place. Nothing like staying in a cold hospital for eight hours to appreciate what the nurses go through. Two different nurses asked me about my accent (I don't sound southern and it's a mystery to me). One of them took the edge off the experience with his sense of humor.
Yeah, I had a fracture in my foot. Yeah, my fifth metatarsal was broken. I thought so ever since Friday!
Now I'm in a cast up to my knee. My favorite jeans are ruined because of it. Oh, and I want to kill the guy who invented stairs...and thank whoever invented crutches.

Shonta - that seriously sucks! Can't do anything through the internet other than offer you some kind of sympathy and hope that it all heals itself miraculously fast and painlessly, so you'll be back to normal in no time.

Hi Smiley Town. This weekend Samchu flew over from England to Connecticut to go with me to my senior prom. Best weekend of my life. With Sam's permission (who went on holiday when she got back Sunday, so she might not be on for a few days) I'd like to announce that we are both lesbians. Now that I actually met Sam, I thought it was about time I bluntly came out and typed it. Pikachu-sensei's nomination for "most likely to be a couple" was eerily accurate.
Here are a few pics (I don't have the official pic yet).
I'm in the dress, Sam's in the suit. I handmade the dress, jewlery, and a matching tie for Sam. And yes, those are soda-can tabs.
Me poking/terrorizing Sam at my friend's house after prom.
In front of my car, Walker. My shirt says "pwn this". You'd be surprised how many people get confused about that shirt when I wear it to school. newbs...

Way cool. Wow, from England to Connecticut, that's dedicatedI'm happy you guys had a good time. Very pretty dress by the way, I like the colour. Although people's reactions to the soda tabs could be interesting. Congrats on coming out of the closet at TPM, how did it go in real life (whenever that was)?
Does this mean that we can no longer nominate you two as 'most likely 'to be' a couple'?

People at my prom kept telling me my dress was amazing and other similes, and some teachers took pictures of it. We were only at the prom for two hours because we were late. Sam came into JFK at 6:10. On Memorial Day weekend (aka, lots of traffic). And had to go through customs. not to mention JFK is in New York and my prom was in Connecticut. And in a town that my dad and I didn't know (we didn't get too lost). All things considered, being two hours late wasn't bad.
As for coming out in "real life", um, still working on that. Most awkward weekend of my life was this summer when I broke up with my then boyfriend the day before Connecticon because I realized I was gay. However, he had preordered tickets with our group so he came along for the Friday and Saturday. And was in my masquerade skit. But we won Best Skit at the con, so that worked out too.
Neither of us asked each other out so technically I'm not sure if we're actually dating [loophole]. "Most likely to be a couple" would be great.

Hey, that's so cool that you guys got to meet up - and great that you had such an awesome time! Good on yous, too. And here I was all these years thinking Sam was a bloke, purely because of the name 'Sam'. What a dolt I am.
Ada - why didn't we take photos when we met up? Now there's no proof!

Went and saw Cirque Du Soleil today. It was so awesome. Also had funeral flowers 'stolen' (probably by well-meaning cleaners who couldn't see the 'Do Not Remove' sign), missed two trains, got lost in a cemetery and ended up sitting outside where the funeral was being held. Mixed day? You bet.

Trains are the anti-Christ.

Ooh, I went and saw Varekai a couple weeks ago (a month, even?) and absolutely loved it. It was just... an experience, like a meal for the senses, y'know? I'm not usually one to go gaga over ambience and the like, but it truly felt like another world. I even loved the costumes, and usually costumes mean nothing to me. It was everything it was advertised to be and more, made me feel really talent-less by comparison, though.
Sucks about the rest of the day, though. Going to uni for a year and a half now means I'm pretty well-versed in the art of train catching. I reckon I catch about 12 hours worth of trains a week, on average. Not fun. Particularly since I rely on the uber-crappy V-Line, where services regularly run late and when they do arrive, sometimes it's with a shortage of carriages. It's the bum wrap, especially since trains up my way only run once an hour, too.
There, there, Shonta. *pats back awkwardly*
Ada, sounds like quite a day. I'd quite like to see Cirque Du Soleil one day. But I have no money. ^^ Hasn't stopped me going to Guns 'n' Roses when they come to Perth, mind, but I really should start being a bit tighter with my money. I don't take a train or bus or anything to uni, I drive, so most of my money goes on fuel. And beer, somewhat foolishly. I'm running dangerously low with the funds.
Anyone else know the feeling?![]()

Now for totally unrelated news. I'm out of the cast! The doctor took it off yesterday and put a rigid soled shoe in its place. So now I can put a little weight on the injured foot, which makes walking around a lot less tiring, although I still need the crutches. I can also take the shoe off when necessary. The bad news is that I don't see the doctor again until July.
Hmm, now that I think of it, that's another downside about me and City Stages.

Dragoknight: Oh yeah, you do live in Victoria... hehe, I know a few people who battle with the V-line to get to uni. I really hope your uni's close to a train station. I'm pretty public-savvy as well, as I rely on public to get to and from uni; I just got held up. Yep, Cirque Du Soleil was awesome; the costumes, the set... and of course the acts. Being an ex-gymnast really makes me appreciate their care to take everything to perfection. Got seats int eh second row, which was really cool. It did mean that we saw everything including the lighting boxes etc. which spoiled the ambience a bit, but oh well.
Gavin: not like taking public would save you any money anyway, if public transport in WA is anyting like Victoria's. Besides, Guns N' Roses is so worth it (not a fan personally, but hey).
Shonta: yay, you're out of the cast! Shame about City Stages though. What's Ludacris? (is probably being stupid)

Civilisation at last! Following 5 days (monday - friday) of hell, I'm thankful to announce that I am officially back! Basically, my mum picked me up from the bus stop after i'd left the airport (yes after finishing THAT weekend but i will go back to that later) and as we were speeding down the motorway the car dies and we have to pull over. Turns out the cam belt snapped so no going anywhere for us. The tow truck takes 90mins to get to us and then about another 90mins to take us to devon for my brother's soccer tour. Typically it's a bank holiday monday so nowhere's open so the next morning my mum's ringing round trying to find mechanics and finally succeeds. So we go on with the day bored because the park we're staying at sucks beyond comprehension and by the time we get into town everything will be closed. There's no entertainment until late, the shop closes at weird hours and that just leaves the arcade which gets boring after about an hour. Let's see then...wednesday my mum gets a call from the mechanic. The car isn't going to cost around Ł500 like she first thought, it's going to cost around Ł900. Chaos. So that basically consumes wednesday. Thursday evening my mum gets a call from the mechanic, the head of the car (cuz they had to take it apart) hasn't arrive from Torquay (which is 20 mins away) and just to add insult to injury he won't accept a credit card as payment and won't release the car to my mum without full payment because he's not guaranteed payment. So friday we run around trying to sort out how we can pay him and with that sorted we head to torquay ourselves. We ferry over and then when we're finished head back home but guess what, they've cancelled the ferry we're about to take and the last one leaves too late so we run around to find a bus or taxi to get us back in time. Fortunately it all works out and here i am at last.
Oh! What i forgot to mention is during this period I confessed to my mum about being gay. Her response was that she'd always thought I was 'normal' (and i have NEVER been "normal"), said that she didn't know what to think and some other stuff I don't really want to mention. Let's just say we're not on the best of terms.
Ironically enough, what could have pontentially been the worst 5 days of my life had followed the best almost 3 days ever (where are my 'normal' days i have to ask). So yeah, flew into JFK and met Shayna which wasn't exactly what I had expected but how many people can imagine receiving a bouquet of flowers from a vending machine? The ride from the airport was great because we just talked the whole time and her dad kept pointing out loads of buildings and the new york skyline so that was pretty awesome. The prom was fun. I didn't get pounced on nearly as many times as I'd expected but I did spend the whole evening running around after my prom date who appeared to be in high-demand for the evening on account of her unusual - yet undeniably amazing - dress. But it was fun, got to drink loads of fake alcohol so I had a great time. Also got to learn how to play bearhug so that was pretty awesome too.
OOOO pictures pictures pictures. I personally can't stand how i look in that first picture but I've never liked my pictures much. It was just outside after the prom and if you look in the back there's a windmill. I love that tie though. The second picture is a clear demonstration of the abuse I suffered at Katie's house. This is just one of many attempts to get a picture of me. The last picture was taken right before leaving for the airport to take me home. Good thing you can't see how upset I REALLY was at that point.
Most likely to become a couple...actually it's kinda funny that should be mentioned because I have something to say on that matter.
Shayna, will you go out with me?

*other than this one particular lecturer, which I will tell you once I send the essay to him*
So we have this two bus company that bring students out for their weekends, see? One is owned by a Malay company, while the other is owned by Indians. Now, these two company have a bad blood going between them, since the Malay company is the company that is approved by the college's adminstration (which means that the other company is practically not allowed to sell bus tickets in the college's compound).
And man... the Indian guys did some pretty nasty stuff to pull students to their buses. Like two days ago: two student got their sleeve torn off when the conductor practically dragged them to get into their bus. And this morning, the said conductor (a woman) was angry at a student for refusing to get into the bus (saying that the other bus is run byh the malay, which he prefer than the Indian's one).
The conductor, well, replied with something that goes among the lines of "Malays are useless" before going as far as saying: "You bring a Koran here, and I'll step on it. In fact, let me into your mosque and I'll show you what I mean!"
Yep. Two police came after that. Things are getting pretty ugly. I've heard a few guys are getting ready to get into a fight. Ugh.
Anyway, yeah, good for you guys to meet up (Shayna and Sam). Going out for a real date?![]()

It happens to the best of us fanficcers, when we start it's with a lot of gusto and enthusiasm, but after a while it begins to wane and you hit a point where you're writing out of necessity, not choice. I was enthusiastic when I started ficcing back in 2002, though it was clear to see that, as time wore on, I began to falter. Though I seemed rekindled every now and then, it would die down once more...
For a couple months now I've just written chapters because, well... I had to in order to keep people reading, eh? It certainly wasn't a healthy attitude, and no doubt my writing suffered for it. However, really randomly and suddenly a couple days ago, I found myself writing because I wanted to. It was fun again, and I can't imagine it having been for any outside influence. Rather, it felt like I was fired up again because something happened in me... Damned if I know what it was, but it's a pretty cool feeling and I reckon it'll last for a while. I hope it does, anyhow. For the last two days all of my spare time has been spent daydreaming about my fic, where I can go with it in the future, how it'll all come together, etc...
Yeah, bit of a mass digression there, but I thought there'd be no better place to announce the return of Drago's belly fire!! Har.
Good on ya mate ... way to keep the belly fire alight.
I got the urge to write today too, and spent hours producing pages of notes until I found a plot hole, and that killed it instantly. Now I'm frustrated and complaining about it to everyone I encounter. But I'm not jealous of you and your belly fire. No. Not all all. Not even a little bit ...
