Hey that's cool MM ^^. I just got into History which I'm really gleeful about. Not the same thing no, but anything about the past, ancient or otherwise I find really interesting. What's a GRE though? I've never heard of it up here. Well maybe I have just not that short form, heh.

GRE is basically a higher level general exam than the ACT or SAT *lives in KS, only had to take the ACT* ^^

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, I get it. See I live in Canada and we don't have the SAT's or anything like that. They just look at your Gr. 12 grades (and to a lesser extent Gr. 11) and see if they will let you in. I was in a different Program at my Uni and transfered into History. As long as your Grades are good in the original, and there's room, they will move you over. And you got the courses from High School or Uni that are the prerequsites.

Well, considering I've managed to graduate with my B.S. in four years, something most other students can't accomplish, I think I can make it so long as my GRE scores are good and I have time to save up money for my second semester. If all goes well I can pay for two years of schooling without any loans!

Well I think we can base some ages off of their real-life counterparts. A Ninetails = Kitsune so they're basically immortal... for the most-part (remembers the Ghost Ninetails from the first Season). A plant age varies depending on what species it is really. Yes I know... Paleontologist not Paleobotonist... Doesn't mean I don't know nuthin bout plants!

Never said you didn't there MM. Yeah a Pikachu is a mouse though so something like 4 x 10 I guess. Or around there. My guess is that the 'bells based on pitcher plants and I have no idea how long they live. Unless the plants are in warmer climates they go through the dieback stage so maybe there is a time of the year some Grass types are weaker then normal? *shrugs*

EDIT: Pitchers live 2 to 4 years. At least some do.

Actually I've been in the process of creating a new arena that would drive the Ref's insane. Mostly Dragon Themed... I'll post some of it... or wat I have brewing.

Arena – Dragon Roost

The main arena is set inside a dormant volcano, the cliff walls are igneous rock, carved into long grooves and several landings scattered along the walls themselves. Dragons, real dragons and not Pokémon roost on these landings and oversee the matches that transpire. All types of dragons stay here, western, eastern, wyvern, drakes, hydras, and even sea serpents travel great distances to roost here and oversee the battle.

The arena is a standard Indigo stadium on a platform held over the still glowing magma 80 feet below. The battlers and ref are each on elevated platforms. Behind the Owner of this arena is a massive dragon statue that appears to be roaring at the challenger.

Throughout the match (every 10 rounds or so) the dragons in this area let loose with an eerie chanting howl, voicing their displeasure at the current match. Everything around the combatants and Pokémon starts to shift and warp until they find themselves in a new arena with only one dragon watching over them and affecting the battle, each with their own restrictions.

Staying in this new arena for 10 rounds, and then the arena changes again from the Dragon’ Song, never going back to the starting Stadium until one Trainer loses and has all their Pokémon faint.

You could choose a fire type for the volcano and find youself in ten some odd rounds in the ocean, ouch. Also, you realize we've taken up a whole page just talking? Anyway, er, current topic of conversations, arenas, right. I dig my gym arena - the Death Gaia - just because I have a metric ton of Water Pokemon. Probably more if you take Wailord into account. I'm also fond of The Castle with a Pillow In It - which is exactly as its name suggests.

When I first started here, I saw an arena by SilverMachop that was awesome. He battled onstage at the Oscars. XD

I sort of rememeber that arena with the pillow . . . looked it over at anyrate. I remember thinking 'well there's a weird one.' Heh, oh I found the Oscar battle here. Why? Cause I was intriguied. Also, I always found the blitz stadium one my sis reffed a while back to be cool. Real fun with water types I think.

Ok I gotta add two cents. I haven't really fought in many arenas really. I'm usually fighting in fields lol. But as for that Oscar battle, that's danged funny.

As for Pokemon Age-umm I'ma say they age in accordance to the love for their trainer, they age slower and more akin to human age as they stick with their trainer. Cause yeah, that forty year old Pikachu (SCARY) for one, and then you get like floating Igglypuff carcasses...wait no that was a dream of mine n_n...

Err anyway, so yeah. >> I need to battle in arenas. But the bouncy castle one is cool. That's the pillow one I believe.

I've got a question (mostly for the mods). I know you can limit a match to Ten rounds, but can you limit how long a pokemon can be out in the match? Like in a 2-on-2 match, could you say after 5 rounds the trainers have to switch out their pokemon. Then after the full ten rounds who ever had the highs combined HP would win. Would that work for a quick 2-on-2 match or just a pipe dream?

Well as far as Arenas go...

Arena: The Phantom Galleon 2.0: Pirate Research Spaceship

We specialize in catching Alien Pokémon and selling them back on Earth to the highest bidder… disclaimer: We are not to be held reasonable for any Alien invasions or adductions that may accrue if you buy a Pokémon from us…

After three years of hard work and careful planning on my Private Island, by collecting scrap metal and old computer equipment, My crew and I have not only rebuilt the Phantom, we recreated her from the ground up. First of all she is now made up of two boats like an mix of a Aircraft carrier, Spanish Galleon and a Research Ship all wrapped into one, both hulls are 3 miles long in length width and depth and they are connected by several hallways between and several drawbridges between the two boat hulls of the Phantom….

The right side, I created a mile long field to grow food on which when eaten restores (1-3 HP) also it’s a mile deep for a Pokémon to dig in and use other ground moves that well only effect the field, the left side has a mile long Swimming Pool but is only a stander depth one, the new Phantom’s hulls are now completely indestructible only the field can be damaged.

Most all lower decks are able to used, the only areas that are off limits are the Kitchen, the bathrooms, the living quarters, and the engine room and the Bridge, and my lab.

The Bridge this is where the trainers and the ref well be controlling robotic bug canons that both serves as the eyes and hands and feet of the trainers when on my ship, the balls are transported between the bridge and the bugs, also if attacked the bugs well attack that pokemon back for 1-3 damage it should be noted the even thought they can be attacked that they like the ship are indestructible…

the Phantom's Operating systems

Robotic bugs: I designed them after the legendary Pokémon Heatran...

Anti gravity drive complete with Hyper drive; which enables the Phantom to fly in the sky and to travel at light speed…

Gravity generator: gives the phantom a planetary gravity field like Earth’s own...

Ozone generator: when not on earth this creates a breathable atmosphere like the Earth’s (which means there is Oxygen to burn) on the Phantom and three miles around it, so that the Pokémon are shielded from the harness of space….

Black hole generator: for any Pokémon that falls off the Phantom they well fall in a black hole then be dumped back on the ship in a random location on one of the two decks however with a 5% heath penalty.

And the Phantom and all her systems are all fueled by Anti-Mater in the Anti-mater fusion chamber which is of course off limits…

She is Also equipped with Several Anti mater Cannons with Enough fire power to destroy a planet or at the very lest a Battleship...

Time to post some more about that Arena I want to battle in...

1. Ryuguo – Ryujin

A magnificent palace built out of red and white coral. The main area of battle is in a courtyard. Ryujin’s magic infuses the sea around the palace and allows non-fish Pokémon to breathe as if they weren’t underwater. Fish Pokémon have an advantage as they can now move more freely in the battle than previously. Despite being made of coral, the edges of the palace are painful if a battler crashes into them (-3 HP). There is also a danger of Ryujin’s turtle servants zipping by on message runs. Being hit by the turtle messengers hurts (-4 HP) as well as disorienting the one struck. During every 2 Rounds after being transported here Ryujin will revitalize the Pokémon by giving them 5 Energy.

Ryujin’s massive Eastern-Dragon body can be seen from any point of the battle as his winding body seems to almost envelop the palace.

Restrictions: No Status Afflicting moves, Fire Moves

2. Grass field – Yamata-no-Ooriochi

A wonderful grassy field in which there are a few rocks and boulders scattered throughout. It sits between two mountains, each covered in conifer forests. The dragon of this field is an eight-headed hydra, with vicious fangs and cherry-pip like eyes. Blood flows from its engorged belly and pine trees grow on its back. Eight individual tails whip around, uprooting trees and sending them flying in random directions. The Yamata is a hungry and tenacious individual and will snap at the battlers every 3 Rounds, causing 7 HP damage.

Restricted Moves: Any Healing, even damage-healing.

During my summerjob, my mind started to wander about yet again (that's what you get when you have to repeat the same thing over and over and over and...) and it drifted off to ASB.

Now, I got the idea to set up my own forum and devote it entirely to ASB. The biggest problem that came up was the fact of how to advertise it. If I ever want it to be succesfull then it needs activity. So I was thinking of fusing several ASB boards like this one, serebiis and others.

If this goes through I'd contact the mods of the other boards and propose this to them. Afterwards, we'd be able to discuss the rules and stuff like that. I'll probably ask them what they think are the pros and cons of their boards (like battle system, gym leaders, businesses, evolution system, point system,...). Clearly we'll have to put our heads together and discuss these things aswell.

First off, I want a reaction of you guys. Good idea or bad idea? Suggestions? Other ASB forums that might be intrested?

Personally, I don't think it's a very good idea. Leagues and what-not that require the cooperation of multiple boards are a difficult thing to set up, leat alone endeavor, simply because no one wants to conform to another board's rules whatsoever.

While it would be interesting to have another Inter-board Tournament, I don't know how exactly it could work since everyone seems to have different rules for the same thing. Too much confusion.

Well, the point of it would be to gather active members from all kinds of boards so it has loads of activity.

The rules will be special to the board itself, so it will have its own set-up. Ofcourse there will be influences from all the different boards but the adjustments will probably be kept to a minimum.

I would assume this is fine, as I just set up a match very similar to what you're asking about, and no mods have yelled at me yet. I don't want to put words in their mouths or anything, but seeing how ever-vigilant and omnipotent they are, I think they'd have noticed and told me so by now if I wasn't allowed to do that.

Well, there are two major forms of ASB currently in use, the kind used by these boards and the kind used by SPPf/BMGf. It would be easier to gather people just from leagues that use similar battle systems, as their rules are, in general, quite similar. It might be possible, but it would be difficult; things like the conventional battle, reffing, and arena styles differ between boards, and adapting to another board's style in those regards would be tough for some members, even if the rules were not radically different than what they were used to. There would definitely be some disagreement over the way different attacks are portrayed and so on as well. You might be able to run a separate ASB board as a different entity entirely from the other leagues, but nobody's going to want to leave their home base entirely and migrate to a different board and setup unless they have some serious beef with their local mods or whatever.

It could work, but it would be hard.

The UPN/SPPf/BMG rules are hosted on an external website that anybody can access; that would be here. I have no idea if anybody has bothered to update them in a while/how current they are, but that should give you a general idea of the way that sort of league is run.

you know Silencer I think I could be a big help to you since I have a Message bord that I set up on March 23, 2006, and it has not seen very much activity... for the most part I been setting up the ruin's ASB....

for example I wold tell all of mine to attack the same tagot wich may not take it out but may do a high amount of Damage depending on what attacks I use.... thought Energy TKO's suck, then again if an 8 on 8 is taking this long to get done, I beat reffings for a 134 on 143 would be years apart...
