Got a Piplup from Blademaster at the Tree. Are you able to choose the genders of the Pokemon that come from the egg or is it predetermined? You didn't list a gender when it hatched

I'm pretty sure the genders, though stated in the egg center (and in some cases, the Safari Zone), are merely suggestions and don't have to be set in stone. After all, my Kirlia (formerly Mega Horny's) used to be a girl.
