Two Pokemon. Their first battle. And there can only be one winner.
*cue drumroll and sweeping music for the dramatic effect*

Today it seems that it will be a battle of all things cute and cuddly, with ClassyCat releasing her inexperience Happiny, whereas Bulba, much of a newcomer to the ASB, sends out her fluffy little Eevee, Mei.

All excited for her first battle, Mei concentrates intensely, preparing mind and spirit for the upcoming battle. Seeing that this make good sense, Hana follow suit, and it is an adorable sight, two little cuddly things taking their fight so seriously.

Mei takes a deep breath, and she's off, at high speeds, leaping towards Hana, brow twisted in concentration. She pounces, and hits Hana with all her strength. She fails to notice the faint white glow that surrounds Hana's entire body and thus is entirely surprised when she is thrown back with an equal force to what she had put in.

Unperturbed, Mei prepares herself again, her tail starting to glint with a shiny hardness. Hana gives a little encouraging smile, and Mei charges. Suddenly, just before she makes contact, a blinding flash of light sears through her vision. She does not stop, carried forward by momentum, and her tail just glances off the Happiny, not a direct hit.

The cute and cuddlies battle it out in the second round of the match!
Eyes shut tight, Mei's form flickers and suddenly, there are, 5 other Meis, and all with their eyes closed. Their collective cuteness is enough to send any cuteness-obsessed person to cuteness-obsessed-people heaven. Hana however, has no eyes to spare for cute, and instead, her electric style swift proceeds to obliterate every single one of them AND injure the real Eevee. Ouch.

Hana puckers up and is about to run to Mei to give her a BIG slobbery kiss, but Mei, obviously worried by the effects of the said kiss quickly enshields herself away, preventing approach.

Finally, Mei risks opening her eyes for the first time since the Flash, and hey, whaddya know, the world is still kinda swirling around at the edges but at least she has some amount of vision! While she is getting all elated and happy about this, Hana toddles a little nearer, raises her two little paws, and whacks down as hard as she can. Mei looks highly affronted at this, and retaliates rather nastily with a big gob of poison that splatters all over the Happiny's previously squeaky clean coat. Even worse, the poison eats into her skin and enters her bloodstream. Definitely not good.

For such tiny little things, they sure do battle at a ferocious rate, don't they?
Mei saunters casually over towards a convenient mud puddle that is a staple is most grassy fields, and kicks up the dirt, so to say, further dirtying Hana's pink coat. Understandably unhappy about this and every other injustice done unto her, she lets out the sweetest little roar possible and bodily attacks the Eevee.

Mei in her turn chooses instead to use her sharp little teeth, chomping down into the Happiny - not exactly an easy task. Like it has been described before, imagine a very small puppy with a very big round ball. Hana ignores the pain from the bite, and instead releases an invigorating, pleasant aroma, of which she inhales deeply, letting it seep from her lungs into her bloodstream, slowly negating the effects of the poison. Mei gets a pretty good whiff of it too, and she finds her pulse slowing and calming down, making her feel very much more relaxed than before.

In that state of mind, the Eevee readies herself, crouches, and attacks, trying to use her full weight, which unfortunately, isn't even half of the Happiny's. Seeing her enemy nice and close, Hana spurts out a rough liquid ball, which scores a direct hit on Mei. By some extraordinary stroke of luck, the psionic beams hidden within that ball fail to have any effect on the Eevee, leaving her soaking wet, but unconfused.

Hana titters a little at the sight of the wet Eevee, but is unable to be totally happy as the remnant of poison still remains within her.

Round four begins promisingly enough, with the ethereal chimes of the heal bell filling the arena, purging fully the poison that had hitherto resided within the Happiny. Buoyed by her happy thoughts, Mei rushes forward at her defenseless foe, biting and slashing like a fury.

Hana calls forth the rays of sunlight to shine upon them, but Mei cancels that effect by summoning her rainclouds, and in the end, they are left with a rather mild weather, with some sun, but quite a large cloud covering overhead.

WHOOMPH! And a huge burst of flame makes close contact with the Eevee. She isn't too please about the singing of her fur, and therefore is much gladdened to retaliate with the same.

The battle suddenly turns...pretty... with the charming Mei trotting up to her opponent with the sole intention to tickle her, but she is pleasantly surprised to find Hana more than ready to receive her, planting a biiiig wet sloppy kiss on her cheek. Blinking rapidly at this piece of goodwill, Mei is mildly discomfited, especially when the world starts to spin, and pretty pink Eevees start to prance before her, asking her to play with them.

Being the good little Eevee that she is, she tries to resist their calls, scrabbling furiously at the dirt beneath her feet to mudslap the Happiny. Unfortunately, the earth that she throws up is countered by a big ball of water which splashes on her, leaving her wet, also serving to further confuse her.

Mei gives in to the calls of her pink friends, and starts gambolling and frolicking around wildly, having more fun than she's had since the battle began. Hana snickers behind her shield, amused.

Taking a huge leap in mid air and landing on four feet, Mei suddenly stops, breathing rapidly. What on earth has she been doing?! She has a duty to fulfil, a duty to battle bravely for her trainer!

Trying to gain an upper hand, Hana strikes while Mei is still recovering from her daze, shooting out a whole collection of sizzling little bolts. They do help shock the little Eevee up a little, and she turns, crouching low and springing, tackling the egg-like Pokemon with all her strength.

Struggling to get away from her opponent, Hana's outline blurs rapidly, and Mei is surrounded! Unfazed, she performs Swift, effectively destroying the images and damaging the real thing.

Channeling her disappointment into one fiery breath, Hana releases a burst of hot flame at the Eevee, who quickly puts up a pinkish-purple barrier, that incidentally, sparkles very prettily in the sun. The flames reach the barrier, but are unable to breach it, are instead steadily absorbed, until, with a tinkle like breaking glass, it shatters.

For the first round, Hana becomes a sitting duck as Mei chooses not to make her grand reappearance then, still hiding out in her tunnel belowground.

Time passes and Hana starts to think her opponent has maybe asphyxiated underground from lack of air, when without warning, the ground under her breaks up abruptly to reveal a charging Eevee! Hit hard, it takes Hana several seconds to recover from her surprise, just to pound the little Mei in revenge.

Without warning, a burst of extremely bright light sweeps across the arena. Even with her eyes closed, Mei can almost feel the light searing across her eyelids. Just to play safe, she keeps her eyes closed for a couple more seconds more than she needs to. Her opponent stands almost directly opposite her, almost perfect target for a painful Shadow Ball. Scoring a direct hit, Mei is perfectly satisfied to see her opponent collapse, unable to get up any more.

BATTLE
A new contender enters the battlefied, continuing the battle of cute things with a name that even means cute. Kawaii is not in any mood to fool around though, and Mei is quick to use a previously successful strategy, by digging underground to escape her foe's wrath - which in retrospect isn't a very good move. At first, the Eevee congratulates herself on having made a daring escape, but that happy feeling rapidly disintegrates as she feels the ground moving underneath her paws. In a narrow tunnel, with nowhere to go, except to dig herself deeper and further into trouble, Mei is absolutely helpless as debris starts to fall all around her and then, the worst happens - the tunnel caves in, leaving her suffocated in the dirt.

Above ground, Kawaii waits, and smiles happily to herself upon seeing no sign of Mei, who is currently trapped below ground, having been told to stay there....air in the narrow pocket she has remaining is rapidly decreasing, and Mei is getting weaker by the minute. It is a job well done for Kawaii, who even gets to rest and regain any lost energy, leaving her fresh for upcoming struggles. Mei forces herself to remain calm and breath slowly, trying to rest as well as she can while almost smothered away below.

With no warning, Mei bursts out of the earth, and scores a bite on Kawaii's left foreleg. Reacting more out of instinct that anything else, Kawaii lashes out wildly, her right foreleg glancing off blow on the Eevee's head before Mei lets go and soars a while in the air, landing with a furry thump.

Kawaii is definitely not happy with the way things are going, and so, emits a psychic beam to even things out a little. She is disappointed however, for Mei quickly sets up a barrier around herself, deflecting the beam and remaining safely uninjured.
