Default Trial Run: Can I have two volunteers please?

I'm posting a trial contest battle because I'm looking at ways to follow the Contests in the anime more closely for ASB. What I'm going to be doing is a normal 5-round battle but with the inclusion of the Contest Score. This is a number which each battler will have and will display how appealing and attractive they are when battling.

The winner of the battle will be the one who has the highest contest meter; being hit will lower it slightly, having strategies foiled (ie clones wiped out, countering an attack) will also lower it. However using moves in sucession like combos (ie quick attack and fire punch, bubble, blizzard then psychic to bombard the foe) will also fill the meter up.

HP and Energy will still play an important factor; if the foe faints you still win by default. But if both foes are still alive and well, the contest meter will be examined to see which Pokemon deserves the ribbon.

Its a way of incorporating the beauty, style grace and wow factor of contests into the battles. You'll need battle strategies and a good eye for appeals if you want to win this way.

If two people could each volunteer and post the Pokemon they're using as in a standard battle. First come, first served. I won't be awarding points since this is just a bit of an experiment I couldn't do alone.

    Okay....

    Hmmm... Flashy flashy flashy...

Okay, start with a Screech to break through Hawk's defenses. Scare it silly with a Roar and then knock it around with a Whirlwind. If he gets in reaally close, then go for a Leer to discourage.

Rawk, cover your ears and conjure a Sunny Day, then blast Tara with Solarbeam. End by uncovering your ears and stomping out an Earthquake when the wind dies down.

    Trial Battle
    Blade VS MM

    100% HP
    100% Energy
    Contest Score: 100
    Screech -- Roar -- Whirlwind

    VS

    100% HP
    100% Energy
    Contest Score: 100
Sunny Day -- Solarbeam -- Earthquake

    BEGIN!

The Blaziken and the Ramparados emerged on the arena as Chris 2.0 held the reffing flags ready. Beside him, an Abra was making notes on a pad of paper, commenting on the match.

Ramparados opened his mouth and unleashed a rabid screech; the rings of pure sound filled the air, severely hurting the ears of the people in the audience. This lowered Mew Master's Contest Meter by 10 points. Blaziken began to summon up the sun, causing it to pulsate wildly in the sky, showering the sun with power and light.

Next the large dinosaur began to bellow loudly, trying to scare the Blaziken who was covering his ears with his hands. Again, nobody was particularly impressed as they were scared witless by the beast's roar; some audience members even fled the scene.

Blaziken glowed as he opened his mouth, blasting a furious beam of solar energy through the air. It slammed into Ramparados and dealt impressive damage to the prehistoric beast.

Finally, Ramparados exhaled a deep gust of wind; the curling tendril of gale swept into a large whirlwind that span around between the two battlers; Blaziken held on tightly, finding his footing and rode the whirlwind out; he proceeded to slam his feet into the earth and send a tremor that smashed into Ramparados for good damage. The arena was torn up slightly.

    RESULTS

    100% HP
    100% Energy
    Contest Score: 85
    Attack Second

    VS

    100% HP
    100% Energy
    Contest Score: 95
    Attack First

I deducted points from Blaziken since he basically just endured all the opponents attacks all round instead of trying to evade or prevent them. If you do evade an attack and it works (ie, faint attack to avoid a whirlwind then slamming into the foe) you'd get points added to your meter.

I'm also considering damage to be reflected in the contest meter but I can't decide.

Rawk, it's time for a Mortal Kombat Kombo.

Use Jawblazer (Fire Punch + Sky Uppercut) to slam Tara into th air, and then leap up and use a Double Kick to slam her back down into the ground.

Move: Jawblazer (Sky Uppercut + Fire Punch), Double Kick

Okay Tarasque, use a Rock Climb to doge his nice little combo, then we'll use a combo of our own. When he comes in for the Double Kick, Crunch his leg and spin him into the ground with a Slam.

There's one thing about Dinosaurs. They aren't the cute little Land Before Time dinos, they were feirce fighters strugling for their own survival. And we'll show you just how hard that strugle was.

Spare me the theatrics, Denny - I've been studying dinosaurs in-depth since before you could spell 'mamenchisaurus.'

And where are we fighting again, anyway? Don't there need to be... uh... rocks around for Rock Climb to work? Or is that just in the games? I didn't see an arena specified anywhere...

Actually the move is basically a side-step or jump, according to both the Attack Dex and the Game Attack Dex.

And what? Can't I be theatrical. However, you do bring up a good point. Are we in a standard Contest Arena?

Rock Climb – NORMAL – The user attacks with a bounding leap. This can be used to clear and scale rocks or other surfaces. It can confuse the foe.
    Fatigue: Light
    Damage: Good
    Accuracy: Excellent
Other: Despite the name this is more of a leaping attack (see bounce) and has little/no relevance to rocks. It can help the user escape dug pits or sand tombs, and would also help with evasion of oncoming attacks. It can daze the foe.

It's just a crap name. We're in a standard open field, grass, sky, etc.

    100% HP
    100% Energy
    Contest Score: 85
Rock Climb -- Crunch + Slam

    VS

    100% HP
    100% Energy
    Contest Score: 95
Fire Punch + Sky Uppercut -- Double Kick

The second round began. Blaziken's fists erupted in a fiery blaze as he tore across the arena at Ramparados. Ramparados crouched before executing a leap over the foe, who had soared up with an uppercut that missed.

Not deterred, Blaziken raced towards the large dinosaur. As he swung a kick into Ramparados, hitting the collosal beast in the jaw, Ramparados sunk his teeth down into Blaziken's leg; looking limp and puppet-like Blaziken was swung and slammed into the ground, feeling quite sore.

    76% HP
    75% Energy
    Contest Score: 100
    Attack First

    VS

    75% HP
    79% Energy
    Contest Score: 73
    Attack Second

Blaziken lost points because his combo didn't work; however he gained a few because of the effect of fire punch as he raced at his opponent; it looked, err....cool.

Ramparados gained points for turning the foe's attack against it.

I also edited energy/HP loss which hasn't been done yet :p

Tarasque, time for some earth shaking.

Uplift several rocks to surround Rawk Hawk with a Rock Tomb. Then send some of those into the Flame-Bird with an Ancient Power. Finally Fling some of the boulders at him

    Yeah, a complaint about that...

How exactly do a Solarbeam, an Earthquake, and a Double Kick - ALL super-effective moves - do 14HP and 5CP of damage, where a Crunch, a Slam, and a Whirlwind do a whopping 25HP and 22CP?

In any event, Rawk, use a Rock Climb of your own to leap out of that Rock Tomb before it seals you up and land in between the rocks and Tarasque. Then, when she uses Ancientpower, fall backwards Matrix-style (or just fall back) and blast a Flamethrower at the rock(s) so they slam into Tarasque like tiny meteors. Then get back up, and when Tarasque uses Fling, catch the biggest boulder you can, and then hurl it back at that Rampardos with a Seismic Toss.

Move: Rock Climb (leap between Tarasque and rocks), Rock Missile (Flamethrower + Tara's Ancientpower), Seismic Toss (boulder)

I need to take another 10% of Ramparados, sorry for that. Whirlwind obviously didn't do any damage. But a move will deal roughly 2-4% more damage if its super effective; I don't double it.

Crunch and Slam were used in conjunction and dealt more damage since it was a combo. It was one attack combining a painful bite with a slam into the ground so I felt it would deal more - but only by a few percent.
