TPM Fantasy Football League: Season Two!

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for another season of the TPM Fantasy Football League! Are you ready to test your NFL know-how against the best that TPM has to offer... including our defending champion, The Pikachus?

The league will use the same settings as last year. Head-to-head scoring, top 4 teams make the playoffs. It's as simple as that. All you need is a Yahoo! account and the guts to take on all comers. So do you have what it takes?

Our draft is tentatively scheduled for Friday, August 31, 2007 at 9:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. This may be changed based on when everyone else wants to draft. But even if the eventual time and date doesn't work for you, go ahead and register! You can always have the computer autopick your team if you can't be there.

In case you've forgotten, I'm your friendly fantasy demon, resurfacing after having my reign of terror ended by Brian and his Pikas. But the band is back in town baby, and I foresee another season of Tennessee terror; no doubt I'll be able to emulate my winning duo of Drew Brees and LaDainian Tomlinson with some new members, perhaps with a little Madden cover boy? Shall I finally have a beasty receiving corps, courtesy a newly-signed New England Dandy? All I know is, it's bound to be a year filled with 100-point thrashings, brought to you by the king of smack.

Okay, since we have a few teams now (Ghost, you still haven't registered!), I think we can start discussing the draft date/time. I was wondering if we could move the draft up by a day, from September 1 to August 31. I don't necessarily need to change the date, but it would be helpful for me personally. Are there any objections to changing the draft date as such?

I'll go ahead and make that change in a week if nobody voices any concern about it. A week's probably plenty of time to say whatever you need.

How do i set it for Auto draft btw. Cant see it and dunno if ill be on at that time (3am for me)

BTW i know NOTHING about football (not even sure what all the position abbreviations stand for....WTF is a 'Tight End' lol?) so im doing this for fun and see how i get on.

Once you're on the league page, click "Draft Central" and then "Edit My Rankings" (it's next to "Pre-Draft Player Rankings"). From there, you can adjust the order of all available players any way you like.

Whether you adjust the rankings or stay with the default, if you're not present during part (or all) of the draft, the system will automatically draft the top player remaining on your list every time it's your turn to pick. You don't have to adjust anything at all if you don't want to do so; it can manage the draft for you if you're absent.

I'm sorry I forgot about the thing. Partly because I was skeptical about the lack of participation and I wasn't all that enthused seeing so few people. The good news is that eight people means that even auto-draft can't screw it up, though I did get Kitna/Williams/Johnson...

I think that was a common problem, actually, as several teams ended up auto-picking. I'll have to start nagging victi- I mean, people earlier next year, it seems.

Detroit Firebirds = kainashi. He was lucky enough to get the first pick, which meant he got LT. And the rest of his draft wasn't bad, either.

Still, I honestly like my team... I think it's strong where it counts, with decent enough backups for my top players. And Baltimore! Can't forget the D.

Incidentally, UC, you drafted a few high school players. But as commissioner, I have to be nice. So I'll trade you pro athlete Matt Stover for freshmen McNabb and Holt. I'm so giving that way.

Stover = kicker = not very many points. McNabb + Holt = strong quarterback and running back = lots of points. I wouldn't seriously offer something insane like that.

In any event, we have an "approval" system with trades in this league. If someone agrees to a trade, the other managers have a time limit (I think it's three days) to either approve or reject the trade. I don't think "approving" it has any real effect, but if it's rejected for being too one-sided, the trade is canceled. That feature is there to keep managers from ripping off others and to keep someone from giving up and dumping their best players on another team for free (basically guaranteeing the recipient an incredible team through unfair means).

Yeah i had a feeling it was a joke but i cant stress enough how little i know about Football. Ive picked up that i have a few decent players since theyre mentioned on those draft show videos but other than that im blind. Im not even sure when the season starts lol.

See im trying not to get my hopes up. Im winning so far but theres alot of games still to play apparently lol.

Hopefully after a coupel of weeks ill be able to get an angle on whose worth what and make some changes.

Also need to learn whos got what chance against which team. I knew i should have made Manning my Starting QB.
Less than 5 min into the game and hes already matched McNabb for points.

I predict that once again, I'll have the lowest score of any week one winner. Hooray for minimalism!

And to be honest, UC, I never would've started Eli in the first game. Considering some of the blowouts he had last year, it's scary to think of his potential to just break down and post a -5, or something. I think you were right to hold off and just see where you stand with everything.
