Thanks for the reply. Here's my logic for the skarmory moveset:
Spikes, well that's a given, he's the spiker. Whirlwind, since he's the starter, if the opponent opens with a Fire/Electric or something else that'll give him trouble, he can get rid of them in favor of an opponent that won't give him too much trouble. It'd be a bonus if that works on magneton, though I'm not sure on that. Toxic, I wanted at least one poke with that, and he seems like a good candidate, can toss that on while laying down spikes. And then lastly, a STAB attack. Think I might end up going with Steel Wing there, since I'm not sure how I can breed both Whirlwind and Drill Peck on Skarm. I'm gonna use this team on the GBA and don't plan to shark, so options are limited.

Too much defense, there's such a thing?
Actually, I'm a little on the fence about Gardevoir's moveset, I can see that argument applied there. It's pretty solid, but I'm open to suggestions on that.

I guess when it comes to strategy I'm A George W. Bush.... Just pull out the big guns and blow stuff up, and don't care for defence... I rarely have a non attack move (hypnosis might be the ONLY one!)
I only play for the fun anyway, not for tournaments or anything (namely cause the closest they ever are is London, which is 150 miles from me, maybe more).

skarmory : drill peck >>>> steel wing.
absol : normal types are really common, and double team is usually frowned on. keep it if you must, but i'd prefer return over that.
weezing : yes. will 'o wisp always helps, though, although it contradicts haze.
gardevoir : i might make this a starter and equip her with thunderbolt for getting rid of skarmories. it's rare for psychics to get a powerful special-typed move that isn't psychic, so i really like thunderbolt here...meh.
blaziken : yeah.
walrein : splitting ev's into attack and special attack is okay, i've decided, especially him, who you can split 85 hp/170 attack/85 defense/0 speed/85 sa/85 sd (as a basic template) and get decent stats. still, i like rest and yawn here. ;_;

Both your sweepers (and Weezing for that matter) have their attack EVs split... that ain't cool. If you desperately want to keep them with their current movesets... max the Special Attacks EVs and let Absol pass the Attack boost I guess.
Claydol makes a better pseudopasser than Gardevoir.
I'd personally rather give Thunderbolt to Gardevoir, give Weezing Will-o-Wisp or Shadowball instead. Then you can just max out Weezing's Attack EVs so that Sludge Bomb and Explosion (and Shadow Ball) will really pack a punch, while either cutting down the opponent's attack or taking out Weezing only weakness: Pokemon.
Just some ideas... but don't take my word for it.

Excellent suggestions, I've incorporated a few into the team above.
I'm still not clear on how to get both Whirlwind and Drill Peck on Skarmory in a legit way, any suggestions?

Skarmory can't get whirlwind because doduo/trio can't learn it naturally and whirlwind isn't a TM anymore. Doduo/trio can learn drill peck naturally though, so just breed that with your skarmory and you're good to go.

I plan to get Whirlwind on Skarmory by breeding it with a lvl 27+ Dustox that has the move (Tropius and Makuhita would work as well). I may just forego Whirlwind and get Drill Peck though. *shrug*
