Info on Shinies

Hi all!
I have a couple questions concerning shiny pokemon. First, what are the exact chances of running into one?
Second, are there any disadvantages to having them?
Lastly, do little sparkles appear next to their name like in G/S/C?

I don't know what the chances are, but I got lucky and caught three shinies.
They shine when you release them, and the background and number on the summery are different. Other than that, there are no sparkles, ecpet when released.
