    Default The Springtide Contest!

Spring is coming! Contrary to the snow outside right now.

    Appealing Rules

In this Contest there will be eight competitors. Also, reservations not allowed. We will loose no competitors each round, but appeal for three rounds. The scores for each Appeal will be added up and the two with the highest scores will go on to the finals.

Three Appeals Rounds tallying the scores.
    Battle Round One=Two people battling.

This Contest will have a standard appeal, with one Pokémon and three attacks to showcase your Pokémon's skills. The first Appeal will be posted here, but the final two Appeals will be PM'd to me. You can choose a different Pokémon for each Appeal but the final Pokémon you choose must be the one you battle with.

    Arena

The arena is indoors but there is a retractable roof just over the contest stage should you choose to use weather moves. Just a wave to Alf and he'll open it for you. It is also around noon and its still slightly chilly outside, so if you open up the roof be aware of that. The stage itself is a large well-manicured lawn with flowers and a low hedge bordering it all around.

Please post your Pokémon and your appeal.

Woohoo! First to sign up! Now let's go Rui(shiny female Gastly)!

Alright Rui, start off by sending a ring of Will-o-Wisp fireballs up above you. After that spit a Sludge Bomb up into the center of the ring. Finish off by using your Psychic powers to split the bomb into pieces and sending them at the fireballs causing them to explode into a firey halo above you.

I'll sign up for this with Jinn, my shiny male Eevee.

OK Jinn let's keep things simple. Captivate the audience as you zip arcoss the stage with Quick Attack while leaving a trail of Swift stars in your wake.

Ok, I'll be using my springtime pokemon Lyta! (female Jumpluff)

    *signs to Alf*

Start off with a Sunny Day to make it a good warm springtime temperature, then shoot up an Energyball in the air and shoot it to energypieces with a Solarbeam.

    Hmmm...I hate to follow suit...but...

    Let's go Sora(M-Sableye)

Sora, start by creating a Power gem above you, then, shatter it upwards with a Shadow claw, and finish by creating a light show by hitting the shards with a Confuse Ray to create the best light show of all, since it will be reflecting off gems.

Im in for this and ill use Bulbasaur (M)

    *Also needs the roof opening*

Lets try and do some play acting.
Start with Sunny Day in such a way that the shadows in the arena fall back across as if the sun is just rising. As the shadows recede and reveal bulbasaur in the middle of the arena, Launch Bullet seed into the air in a circular pattern before using the sunny day to fire a Solarbeam into the center and detonate them, hopefully into a flowery pattern....

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

I'll start by using my Treecko, Prince [M]. Prince surround yourself in a blistering leaf storm; as the leaves whoosh around you and cloak you play a tune with grasswhistle to give a spring-like feel. End with an abundance of magic leaves from your leafy cocoon.

    [Yersinia] pichu (f)

Start off with a Double Team and head quickly into the crowd, bringing all your clones with you. Move in coordination, but make each clone act alive, dodging around the people and hiding under seats, etc. Then have each clone find their own person (or a few people) to stand in front of them, but far enough that they won't be able to be touched--don't let them touch any clones, or you--and Captivate them, and end with each clone Sweet Kissing an audience member (and probably disappearing on contact).

    ------******------

The shinified Gastly is the first up to the stage, or mowed lawn. She turns to the roof and fires up five fire globes, almost as eerie as herself. As they head for the ceiling she then somehow forces her translucent insides to make very insidious poison and spews up great glob of it. For the finishing touch she uses her esteemed powers of telekinesis to spit the sludge and fling it into the quickly shrinking balls of fire. The sludge explodes into light when it hits the fire. It splits as it falls and the small blue pieces hit the lawn. Rui grins and bobs in a kind of bow before floating of the stage.

Next onto the stage is Jinn who is also very spiffy in his shiny colours of white and silver. Jinn takes a quick bow before taking off with speed. He zips around the stage, showing off his agility and smiling to the crowd, trying to captivate them with his stellar performance. As he goes he turns his head and concentrates on a point just in front of his nose. Bright yellow stars appear and as he zips around the stage, they stream out behind him. When the attack finishes he slows to a stops and bows once more, before bounding off the stage.

Next up is Lyta and she skips lightly onto the stage, smiling at the assembled crowd. Her trainer signals to Alf and he hits the button. Nothing happens for a second and Alf frowns, smacking it again. With a great creak the roof finally retracts, and the janitor makes a note on his rather dog-eared pad to oil the tracks and gears. Once moving the roof retracts quickly and it clicks into place, leaving the sun to beam in. Lyta turns to expanse of blue and starts to bounce around. She near flies away in her efforts but before that happens the light from the sun is suddenly almost too bright to look at. Lyta basks in its warmth for a few moments before leaning back and forming a luminescent green ball in front of her. It grows quickly and the golden light streaming through gives it a pleasant glow. She shoots it off and immediately forms another ball of energy. This one however is gold like the sunlight and it grows even more rapidly then the Energy Ball. She fires it when it is at a satisfactory size and it smashes through the Energy Ball. The energy explodes outward in a gold and green flickering light.

Sora scampers onto the stage, carefully staying out of the light until the roof is fully shut once more. Then he turns to the sky and with some funky hand gestures and arcane mumbling a gem of the clearest crystal appears above his head. He flings it upwards, quickly following it, his left hand fading to a dark violet colour that appears to be disappearing at the edges. He smashes his hand into the gem and it shatters, pieces flying everywhere. He lands and fires off a white beam of light usually meant to confuse a foe. This time the light brightens the roof and bends and reflects off the pieces creating spots of light and rainbows dancing around the hall.

Alf hits the button again as the Bulbasaur and his trainer step onto the stage. This time the roof retracts quickly. When is clicks into place Bulbasaur starts his routine. As with the last time the roof retracted the Sunlight intensifies. This time though, it is a slow increase in brightness. As the sun gets brighter the shadows move until there is no shadow and Bulbasaur appears, standing in the centre of the arena. He then kneels so his bulb is pointed at the sky and in rapid succession he fires off a group of Bullet Seeds. They fly skyward and he powers up a Solarbeam. With the brightness of the sun it does not take long to power up and he fires it. It moves with speed and smashes into the seeds. The seeds explode on contacts and the pieces scatter everywhere.

As the roof starts to slide, a Treecko named Prince steps onto the field. He waves to the audience and as the roof closes, gets down to business. He starts to spin on the spot and inexplicitly leaves fly off of him and spin around, glinting wickedly in the spot lights. A few brush just a tad to close and nick at their creator but he just winces. Before the attack fades he starts to whistle an enchanting tune. With such a large crowd it does not have much effect besides making the viewers feel peaceful. Prince finishes with a flurry of rainbow coloured leaves that spray everywhere. Having no target then fly up until they loose their momentum and then fall with their other razor sharp relatives.

Prince walks off the field with his trainer and a cute little Pichu named Yersinia takes his place. She yells out to the crowd, getting their attention and starts her routine. First she splits herself off so now there appear to be five Pichu on the stage. She rushes into the crowd, making sure to avoid such objects that would cause the clones to disappear. She picks five individuals throughout the crowd and sits in front of them, smiling happily and then starts to Captivate them. She makes herself look very cute and performs a bunch of tricks. When the people are fully captivated (the male people as the females simply think she's clever /cute) she winks once leaps up and gives the person a kiss on the cheek. Four of the Pichu disappear while the one in front of a little girl remains solid. The little girl suddenly finds herself a bit befuddled.

For the final Pokémon the roof is opened a final time as Girasol strolls onto the stage. he smiles, pleased at both the audiences attention and the sun now beaming down upon him. He likes it so much he decides to up the heat. He starts to dance around and before to long the air is very warm and bright in the hall. Then Girasol digs in his roots and uses Synthesis, healing himself and just making himself feel very nice. He finished by glowing a bright green colour. He looks much more energized and ready to do...whatever he wishes.

With the results in the tally is so:

It fit well with Eevee’s strengths and the streaming stars was a good idea. It’s hard to get the attention of the whole audience though and it lost more effect as he was running.

Nicely fit in with the spring theme and overall was a good arrangement of attacks. I believed that the Leaf Storm would nick Prince because it is meant to be highly damaging and as whirlwind, it is probable to get a bit out of form.

    ------******------

In the Intermission Alf has done his best to fix the retractable roof. Whether it works or not we will soon find out.

First up is Jay the Gallade and he is the first of the shiny Pokémon in this round. He bows to the audience and judge before beginning his appeal. He swings his arms to the left and right and multi-coloured leaves come flying off. He sets them to spin around himself; by having them aim at each other. They whirl around him, sometimes coming a bit to close and nicking him, but it's nothing major. Then he starts to dance in place, with spins and leaps, careful not to move from his spot too much. Transparent swords appear and start to dance around him and the leaves. His right arm scythe begins to glow. In the midst of his dance he sweeps his arms around and slices as many of the leaves as he can. They whirl about him until their momentum slows and they flutter to the ground.

Second to the stage is Ryoko, a Magby. She looks very pleased to be here, if slightly nervous. She starts her appeal by setting up a slightly pink transparent barrier. Ryoko waves through it and then cocks her right fist. She focuses all her energy into it and karate chops the pane of not quite glass. It shatters and the pieces go flying. Quickly, so as to not loose any effect, Ryoko uses a Confuse Ray and a white light shoots out of her eyes at the panes. The light reflects everywhere (with some getting through) and dancing lights fill the hall. Unfortunately some lights reflect back at Ryoko and she is left slightly befuddled.

Then comes Pikachu and he looks quite focused on his appeal. He nods to his trainer once and then takes off at top speed. It is hard to see him though as he emitted a bright flash of light before he took off. As the audiences' eyes were blinded he zips off and periodically he flashes again. All the audience can see is a glowing Pikachu shaped figure in mid stride. For the finishing touch Pikachu flashes one last time, looking up. Then a yellow glowing figure appears, traveling upwards and a decreasing rate. The electricity sparks and Pikachu strikes at the ground and strikes a pose at the top of his leap. Then he falls back to the ground. He doesn't make the best of landing (given the height) but he's all right.

The second shiny Pokémon takes to the stage. Gaunte grins and bows with a flourish to the crowd and then turns to the ceiling. She raises her hands and between them grows a bright green orb that cracks and sparks sporadically. Then she launches a beam of dark indigo energy that crashes into the ball. The two energies explode on contact and a sickly dark green energy radiates outward. Lastly Gaunte fires a set of three bright blue flames at the exploded energy. They don't light the energy on fire; only glow briefly if they come in contact with the rapidly fading sparks.

Last to the stage is Rebecca the Absol. Many in the audience hope this is not an omen to problems to come with the roof. She however pays it no mind and immediately sets to her appeal. First she looks to the ceiling and forms a large globe of water before he nose. It grows to about the size of a beach ball and she fires it, rings of piercing sound in its wake. Then she quickly takes a deep breath when she exhales three concentred bright blue globes also speed for the ceiling. For a final touch Rebbeca's fur sticks out and she looks rather undignified for a second until the electrical energy sparks around her and she glows with energy. Then a bright yellow charge streams for the ceiling and slams into the Water Pulse. It causes the water to explode everywhere, dousing the fires and letting off an almighty crack of thunder.

With the results in the tally is so:

It was ok, the explosion was cool but I don't think energy would catch on fire because of another energy. Only glow if the energy is transmuted.

This was pretty good. I'm not quite sure what the flames were for; perhaps if they had been red it would have been better as it would have been three different colours. Not bad though.

Now you may switch for the next Appeal but this must be the Pokémon you battle with, and as of yet no one’s out.

    Tally

    Dragonis: 8.5 + 8.5 = 17
    Mike Mysterio: 7.0 + 7.9 =14.9
    MeLoVeGhOsTs: 8.0
    Dark Dragonite: 8.1
    Ultimate Charizard: 8.4 + 8.0 = 16.4
    Chris 2.1: 7.8 + 7.0 = 14.8
    Whivit: 9.5
    Charles Legend: 5.5 + 7.3 = 12.8
