    Default Special Gaming Moments

Here you can tell us funny, strange, sad or somehow special gaming moments. And comment on other people's special gaming moments.

Here you are some of mine. Final Fantasy VIII and VII spoilers ahead!

(Spoiler:) Just kidding! I don't want your silly Ifrit!

In Final Fantasy VIII, I tried to get Rinoa's card from General Caraway, and the hands were random. I tried this at least 30 times, and when finally Ifrit was in my hand my Sacred card was there, too. I lost to Caraway in purpose, but then Caraway chose Sacred instead of Ifrit though he babbles about wanting the Ifrit card.

    Hardest enemy in the game?

In Final Fantasy VII, I have beat Emerald Weapon twice without using Knights Of Round. I used the item duplication cheat though. The first time I was very lucky becuase he didn't use Air Tam Storm at all!! I just had to do the dare. It was about this friend of mine who didn't get a Cold Chocobo no matter how he tried. He told me he had to beat the Weapons without KoR and had succeeded. I doubt about Ruby Weapon, though, since you get the Master Summon materia which contains also KoR from the old man in Kalm after beating Emerald.

Later addition: OK, OK, I am a bad player, I must say I didn't use any special strategy, I just saw some videos in Youtube people beating Emerald very easily today.

    Aeris's out-of-body experience

Also in FFVII, I saw a glimpse of Aeris's ghost in the church already in the beginning of the game! I think she was even in my team then!

Did you end up getting Rinoa? You can't get her unless you lose Ifrit to Caraway. You can get Ifrit back though. Just go to Fisherman's Horizon and challenge Martine. He'll have Ifrit and you can just win him back. ^_^ If you DID get Rinoa without losing Ifrit, then everyone I've ever talked to about the game has been wrong, lol. Including all those gamefaq guides.

The first time I blasted off from the first Launch Star in the Good Egg Galaxy of Super Mario Galaxy... I don't think I've felt that elation since the first time I played SMB3 as a little kid.

God, I have so many of these... Let's see what good ones I can think of...

"WTF!? Maybe you should try out for the Cubs or something..."

I forget which of the three I did this in, but obviously it was in R/S/E. I was battling Rayquaza at the Sky Pillar and I weakened it pretty well. It used Fly, so there wasn't a lot I could do while waiting for it to come back down, so I threw an Ultra Ball for the hell of it. Not only did the ball work, I caught Rayquaza with that ball too. Must have surprised the hell out of him that I nailed him mid-Fly with the ball...

Battle & ...wait, that was supposed to be a race?
Several good moments of mine from Mega Man Battle & Chase...
    • When racing Shadow Man, one of his attacks is his Shadow Blade, which will cripple your car if it strikes. On the final lap of a race against him, I took the lead on the final straightaway. He basically shoves a Shadow Blade up my rear suspension, but instead of going around me he rams into me from behind, pushing me over the finish line and giving me the win. Nice move, lame-brain shinobi.
    • If you're lucky, you can summon the secret Black racers, which when beaten give you...odd hints in the game. Beating them also unlocks hidden car parts. When facing the entire Black Troop on the final course of the game (none other than Wily's), I wound up taking the lead on the last lap. During the course of that lap, I got an item that will basically zap all other racers on the track, causing them to stall for a second and otherwise suffer in performance temporarity. This is an item that will almost NEVER appear when you are in first place (doesn't even appear all that often even in last place). Needless to say, the victory became easy.
    • On the note of the secret car parts, I was trying to grab one of the four secret parts on Ice Man's track (you have to find special items on certain tracks once they're unlocked to get them). In getting the item needed to claim this part, I found myself WAY behind the other racers. Somehow, running on almost purely my own car's power, I wound up catching up and taking the lead on the 4th lap (of 5), and making my way to easily claiming my prize.

Whoever designed this dungeon should be shot...

.hack//Quarantine, the 4th and last game of the first part of an awesome series. After defeating the final boss (a tough task in and of itself), you get the opportunity to take on a secret dungeon in order to get one of your party members back from the dead (a plot point, as said character had previously been transformed into one of the major bosses of the game). Unfortunately, it's a 15 floor dungeon, and it's full of Data Bugs (for all intents and purposes, immortal versions of regular monsters which can only be defeated by the Data Drain ability, though in using Data Drain you put yourself at risk, even to the point of instant death if overused to an extreme degree). JUST BARELY made it through the dungeon, as my Data Drain readings were dangerously critical when I reached the boss of the dungeon. Thankfully Data Drain was not required for this last foe, as it probably would have done me in if it had. My party roster returned to full and there was much rejoicing...

No, I didn't. I stopped challenging him right when he took my Sacred. I'll have to play Final Fantasy VIII through the second time anyway. I hope the hands aren't Random in the right part of the game that time. Yeah, I played this game even when I was 14 but not until now realized how good it is and still haven't played it through, unlike FFVII which I have always liked and played through many many times.

I would have to say today was my special gaming moment. I walked into Terminal Reality Studio, sat down, and played Ghostbusters on the X Box 360. It was almost a out of body experience to be able to play that game. Nothing can really compare to being able to sit down and play a game based around my first child hood love.

I'd have to say, this was my greatest gaming moment (first post). It was one of those times when bad luck gave in to determination. Another moment I really enjoyed was getting a smash ball on my and my brothers' first Brawl match, I ended up winning.

I have a few. FYI, I'm not a very good gamer.

Beating the Elite 4 and Champion Cynthia on Diamond
Okay, this was the first time I've ever beaten the Elite 4. And I owned Fire Red, Ruby, and Silver before this. My attention span is really short. What happened was that I was waiting for someone to pick me up one night and I was getting bored. I've already tried beating them three times, saving before I went in that one-way passage, and only got as far as the third person with the Fissure Wiscash (that hit each time, FTF 30% accuracy). Each time I rearranged my team, got rid of unneeded HMs. So on what was supposed to be another trial run, with very limited supplies, I got through to the Champion. I thought I was going to stop there, with the Garchomp and all. The only defense I had against that was my Empoleon with Ice Beam. But Giga Impact missed, I got a free shot, and I blitzed through it and the others. With a Charizard (traded), Empoleon (my starter), Torterra (traded), Lucario (from egg I got on Iron Island), Spiritomb (traded), and a Luxray (mine). All on L50 when I went in.

Getting a score of over a billion on Pokemon Pinball
Another feat I accomplished because I was bored. It was my brother's game and he was pissed when he saw the score. He must've spent hours trying to beat it. Too bad, because he can't beat me at pinball! Hahahaha! Too bad there was something wrong with the internal battery. It erased all the data.

Beating Super Mario World the long way
This was the first game I beat, at about eight years old, but when I got the GBA port I wanted to get all the goals. No Star Road shortcut. I took the hard way. And I'm so proud.

    Beating Donkey Kong Country
The first game I remembered beating the hard way. That mattered, at least. I think I was about ten. King K. Rool was a bitch. Man, that was a great platformer. I still remember thinking, "Those credits are fake! Holy crap, he's back up."

Anytime I beat my brother in Brawl
My brother's good by my standards. We usually do a stock Brawl with two CPU characters set at 5. We usually end up facing each other with equal lives. I have the best chance of beating him when I'm using Yoshi.

    Okay, one more for now.

    Fighting in Twilight Princess
This is only up here because it's enjoyable. First up is the horseback battle with the boar-riding goblins. Just ride alongside the big guy and whack him with my sword yelling, "This is the Hyrule police! Pull your ass over now!"

The Morpheel battle in Lakebed Temple. Something about stabbing a monster in the eye while hanging onto him...

And anything involving sniping. That's always sweet, especially seeing them wobble and fall. Head shot!

    Longest boss-fight
I remember this very fondly as it was quite an accomplishment back then. I was able to fight the final boss of Breath of Fire on the SNES, the goddess Tyr, without using the Agni power. The latter would transform your party into a giant dragon-like creature that can easily vanquish the goddess. Since I never found the Agni power though I had to duke it out with the regular party ... which resulted in a 45 minute battle. I had to stock myself with hundreds of critical-hit items, herbs and mana restoring items. What makes all battles in Breath of Fire annoying is the fact that the boss' HP bar is always already empty but you still have to keep on fighting, as the boss is literally hanging in there. Tyr was the worst of the lot, her HP bar only showing 10 % of her actual HP. When finally beating her without Agni you are granted with the "bad ending" of the game where Tyr returns.

    Highest difficulty beaten
I usually don't bother with playing through games on high difficulties as you don't get anything for it and I don't care about a challenge unless I have to. So I usually choose a medium difficulty. One of the few times I like a video game that much to play through it numerous times was Metal Gear and in it I dared to play through it on the hardest difficult, Extreme. Took me weeks to finish it, especially the boss fights. I remember I even made a map and tracked the running pattern of Vulcan Raven to lay the claymores correctly so he'd run into them right away. Good times, but worth it. The story of that game was awesome.

Guess what games most of mine are from...

#01: FINALLY killing stupid Shinryu in the Monster Arena on FFX. That guy's a bugger cos he's underwater, and I could only use one of my fully trained characters. Oh, he also liked to claw you with a Stone attack, which completely shatters the character when they're underwater. What a wanker.

#02: Waiting two hours for Doom to take effect on Th'uban in the Monster Arena on FFX. Seeing Death FINALLY appear and make that stupid dragon crumple was worth anything. It was brilliant.

#03: Beating the Snowfly Forest without a guide on Vagrant Story.

#04: Gold Chocobo. FFVII. Need I say any more?

SWAT IV: Hitting some chump in the balls with a beanbag from the beanbag gun, for hilarity value.

Also, tasering a squad-mate over LAN just as he runs into a room full of perps, just to watch the poor schlub being riddled with holes by the hoodlums. Warning: may result in sweariness over teamspeak.

Football Manager 2008: Beating Doncaster 5-1 with Gillingham. Get in!
