    Consequences

    In the year 2137, an event occured that changed life on our world irreversibly. The great, advanced technology of Earth collapsed, ceasing to function, as reality itself was changed. The cause was what came to be known as a Convergence, a wholly natural process where universes merged together, combining their disparate essences into one. Technology failed, since the natural laws it was founded on were changed, electricity still existed, but circuits and other complex electrical devices, for the most part, failed, never working properly. The technological collapse killed billions of the 12 billion inhabitants of the world, decreasing it by two thirds.

    Roughly sixty five percent the survivors found themselves changed, as the inhabitants of the other universe, spiritual beings of raw power, were merged with them, with varying results, for some, the mental part of the spiritual essence became a companion, for others, it was a master or a slave, and for a few, it became a merger. It quickly became apparent that those 'Reborn' by this process came in a number of varieties, the majority of which declared genocide upon the minority, who had been the rulers of the spiritual realm before the Convergence. However, after slaying them all to a man, they found that the spiritual essence was merely transferred to a new body, causing another Rebirth.

    Thus, the newly formed Earthborn Order formed the Eternal Hunt, a military force dedicated to hunting down the unwanted Reborn, and prevent them from gaining power. The Order, over the following centuries became more corrupt, selfish, and decadent. The only thing keeping things running smoothly is the administration of the Four Oligarchs in charge. Normal humans have come to be a secondary class, considered inferior, and treated little better than slaves.

    The year is Order Year 1553, and events are escalating in what used to be North America, specifically the southeast, where verdant forests and plains border the sun blasted deserts of the central south. The Hunt is undermanned there, and those Reborn who have been hunted for so long at last have a fighting chance. Will you be one of them? Will you tip the balance? Only Fate knows for sure, what will happen in the city of Verdanis, and the surrounding countryside?

    You are an individual in these events, what side you're on is your choice, but before we go further, it's glossary time.

    Important Terms:
    Reborn: An individual carrying a Spiritual Essence, granting them to do fantastic things by harnessing the forces of the Aether. There are five varieties, split into three groups.

    Aether: The mystical essence that now makes up all things, and which life forms produce.

    Earthborn: A Reborn aligned with the world, and connected to one of the four elemental forces, they make up roughly seventy percent of all the Reborn. They can live to 7-800 years of age.

    Star-Child: A Reborn alighned with the stars, they are connected to concepts such as ordered systems, beauracracy, and other political endeavours, as well as stealth and deception. They can live(potentially) to 3400 years of age.

    Moon-Child: A Reborn aligned with the moon, they have a connection to a specific animal, and can turn into both that animal, and a hybrid battle form of that animal and themselves. Born survivors, they can also take on the forms of(but not a hybrid of) any animal or person they devour the heart of. They can live(potentially) to 2800 years of age.

    Sun-Child: A Reborn aligned with the sun, they have a connection to pure, ultimate potential, and an additional ability, ranging from simple things like a combat sense, to control of metal objects. They can live(potentially) to 4000 years of age.

    SkyBorn: The Sun, Moon, and Star Children, as a group. They make up for roughly 10% of the Reborn. As a rule, they are almost always more potent than an Earthborn.

    HellBorn: The Demons, Reborn connected to pure chaos, they are impurity incarnate, driven insane, having potent shapeshifting and regeneration, becoming roving killing machines. Make up 20% of the Reborn.

    Geographical notes: What used to be Texas, and the areas north and west of it have become a complete sun blasted desert, filled with potent animals and beasts adapted to the horrific climate, they are now known as the Aclintic Wastelands. What used to be Louisiana, and the areas to the north and east are fertile forests and plains, with their own, but less common, predators and beasts, now known as the Verdant Heartland.

    Aether Use: Beyond what is stated above, Reborn can use Aether to bolster their bodies, making them tougher, stronger, and quicker than a normal human could hope to be. Another common trick is that some will reinforce their weapons with Aether, so that they won't break during combat.

    Name: Tali Neversong
    Age:280
    Gender:Female
    Appearance:Stands slightly short at 5'5", she has extremely dark skin, having lived most of her life in the sun blasted wastelands, coupled with almost white sun-bleached hair pulled back in a long ponytail to her waist. She is clothed in a simple, but durable pants and tunic combination, all in a beige color, along with durable beige leather boots and a simple looking broadsword strapped across her back. Her dark eyes always seem to be on the lookout for danger.
    Personality: Hard, but fair, as well as a good judge of character. Tali respects strength, honesty, and the ability to survive, and tends to be a bit gruff. If a person is decietful, unloyal, or otherwise dishonest, she won't even listen to them. Is a nice enough person, if one can get past her shell, and isn't averse to helping those who need it.
    Reborn: Sun Child
    Ability:Is able to take control of un-imbued metal within a twenty foot radius around herself.
    Potency: 7
    Skills: Survival, Character Judgement, Combat

    Hmmm... interesting interesting...

    Might I ask some expanding on what the Earthborn can be capable of (has ideas brewing and a character he wants to try out... but unsure if it could work...)?

    Earthborn are able to directly spawn and manipulate their own element, but are not as individually strong as the others, they also have the advantage of numbers. Really, for Earthborn, think of 'Benders' from Avatar, but with perhaps a bit more direct control.

    Name: Drako Ralen
    Age: 24 (actually 634)
    Gender: Male
    Appearance: Drako looks to be 24 years old (of course age is an illusion when dealing with the Reborn). His red eyes seem to radiate like lava, creating a sharp contrast between his iris and pupil. His hair is long, shaggy, black, and just haphazardly thrown into a pony tail or let loose to flutter in the wind. His skin is a light tan, however not that leathery despite from living on his own and in the wilderness. A short beard seems to start accumulating around the edges of his jawbone, not thick enough to shave, but not light enough to be unnoticeable. The clothes he wears are a combination of comfort and durability. His tunic is long-sleeved, and reaches down to about mid-thigh, with a worn belt wrapped around his waist. Covering his hands are a set of cloves when protects them from some of the strange plants and other things he’s had to collect from while on his own. His pants, like the rest of his clothes, are loose and both are tucked into the boots he wears. However the left leg is wrapped in bandages from the knee down to inside the boot, for reasons only Drako knows. The boots are lace-less, Velcro-less and seem to be just slip-ons. They are mostly blue with lines of read running along the tongue and sole, and run up to just under his mid-calf. Over all of this he wears a black hooded cloak that can hide his clothes as well as his face. The cloak appears to be ragged and worn, more than likely from using it to sleep in for several years and protect him from the elements. He chooses to look like he does, shaggy, unkempt, and looking downtrodden, however he can look respectable when he also desires. On another belt is a long great-sword with two curved points on the edge of the blade and the handle has two separate chain-links, possibly to attach to the belt or for another unknown purpose.
    Personality: Drako’s personality seems a bit mixed. He can be happy-go-lucky one minute, sophisticated the next, and then serious about life and death the minute after that. A rundown could be that he knows when to be serious, and takes matters of life and death very seriously, as well as when the matter actually counts. His fun-loving side is due to his own view on life that: “you can’t have too much fun because you never know when it’s going to end”. As such he enjoys helping others when he can, usually striving to release any human slaves that he can, and end any abuse towards all sides of the world. He is intolerant of intolerance and thus tends to jump in without warning, eyes blazing red and the Æther shifting around him. Drako tends to enjoy the company of regular humans when he can manage it, since it seems that he still remembers his own humanity...
    Reborn: Sun Reborn.
    Spirit: The Ur-Dragon, the essence of every dragon ever described in the history of the world, in both scripture and imagination.
    Ability: Drako’s ability is channeling and manipulation of the Æther through the Ur-Dragon spirit. He can create a dragon from the Æther and each form varies: Depending on the task at hand, the Dragon may be small enough to slip through obvious security or overlooked as just another animal (depending on Dragon-type), or large enough to draw attention away from something else. He can create one (or several, depending on size) of varied Dragon types: Western, Eastern, Drake (2 forms), Wyvern, Hydra, Serpent, Farie, and Amphitere (Winged Serpent). The Dragons follow his orders to the best of their abilities. Upon creating a Dragon, Drako can choose to let the Æther dispense when finished, or draw the Æther into himself, merging physically with the Dragon, giving him enhanced strength, stamina, and abilities of that dragon.

    While potent, this ability does have its restrictions and drawbacks. Drako cannot summon an infinite number of Dragons. Each summon puts a strain on his mind and body, drawing from his physical and mental strength. Since he is also creating life, he has a mental link to those he summons. The larger he makes them the more complex they become, and more sentient. Some of the larger ones have been known to either ignore his orders or refuse to even listen to him, threatening to kill him, or just do whatever they please. The smaller ones have an intelligence of a very smart dog, and the larger they get begin to rival human intelligence and problem solving. This makes them a bit more difficult to control their actions. This strain on Drako can cause him to pass out. Upon passing out the Dragons will follow his last order until completed and then dissipate into the Æther. Drako may be passed out for anywhere from five minutes, to five days depending on the strain and stress. He is limited to how many he can make at a single time. Purely massive ones he can currently only make one of, and only one. Smaller versions are possible, down to about 6-8 Dragons the size of a large dog at a single time. Even smaller Dragons are possible, but it requires just as much concentration for one to keep their form and keep them on mission. It’s not control persay, but it is like a master/pet type of relationship.

    Drako’s second part of the Æther manipulation is drawing the dragon into his own body, filling his body with Æther and gaining some of the traits and qualities of the dragon he had summoned. Depending on the Dragon he can receive enhanced strength, stamina, radical Æther manipulatory abilities similar to the Reborn, spikes, regenerative properties, and even more combat skills as his psyche and the dragon’s are merged as well. The difficult part here is that Drako can only hold onto such power before it starts to dissipate through him, merging once again with the Æther. He’s limited in how long he can maintain the merge, most often lasting 2-3 minutes. This time is cut down even MORE if he merges with a really powerful Dragon, his own body protecting from such raw Æther.

    Skills/Talents: History, Empathy, Preformance, limited combat, Agility
    Other: He’s well read, well spoken, informed, and has a habit of talking in strings of old earth tales and history that no one really cares about, even in animals no one else remembers. Is unable to use Æther to bolster his physical attributes. Other than that, anything’s possible.

    I'm working on an idea for a Moon Reborn, which will probably be up fairly soon.

    Edit: Here it is. If the age is too young, tell me what a reasonable age would be for her to still have the appearance and mental capasity of an 8-year-old human.

    Name: Kreah Fledgling
    Age: 8
    Gender: Female
    Appearance: Kreah’s human form is slim and short, making her appear younger than her actual age. She has brown-gold hair that she lets hag loose to just below shoulder-length and is ragged at the ends. Her eyes in all forms are identical, a yellow with an eagle's piercing gaze. She wears a simple sleeveless dress, which is little more than a slightly tapered tube of cloth with arm and neck holes. The cloth is sky blue with dark blue and silver swirled designs around the neck and hem, but it hasn’t been properly washed in quite a while, causing it to appear faded and grey. She also has a pair of leather sandals that are slightly big on her, which she sometimes wears while in human form. Occasionally she picks up another article of clothing for somewhere, such as a discarded hat or a lost cloak.
    Her hybrid form is slightly taller and more muscled than her human form. She can still wear her dress while in this form, since its loose enough that it still fits on her larger form. In this form she is feathered all over with plumage resembling her animal form, and has a short tail. Her legs are feathered to the knee, where they then resemble an eagle’s legs and feet, complete with talons. Her arms become feathered wings capable of flight (though since they’re not the true shape of eagle’s wings, she can’t do anything fancy), yet still have slightly stunted hands at the end. The armholes of her dress are large enough to accommodate her wings. Her senses are sharpened, particularly sight.
    Since Kreah is still young, her animal and hybrid forms have the juvenile plumage of a golden eagle.
    Personality: She’s been living by herself for a while, so her social skills are underdeveloped. As such she’s rather naïve and tends to be either honest and direct or mostly silent when encountering others. She has a rather careless attitude and is easily distracted. She’s prone to talking to herself and her spirit, who she treats as an imaginary friend. If she is threatened in any way, she’s quick to fly/run away and hide, and can stay still and quiet for quite a while if need be.
    Reborn: Moon-Child
    Spirt: a Golden Eagle spirit that Kreah calls Brightwing. Though genderless, Kreah calls it male. He acts a bit like a companion to Kreah, guiding her and keeping her company. He has a tendency to refer to her as “fledgling,” so she decided that would be her last name.
    Animal: Golden Eagle
    Potency: 6
    Skills/Talents: hunting for small animals, hiding, general survival, imitating animal sounds, finding things
    Other: Since she’s hunted for food as a predatory bird, she’s eaten the hearts (and thus gained the forms of) several small prey animals, such squirrel, mouse and a few small birds.

    Don't touch that dial! ... I haven't been here in a while, but this sounds interesting.

    Name: Lukino Riese
    Age: 1362, (Visually around 31)
    Gender: Male
    Appearance: Short light blue hair that gets close to his eyes. Semi-Pale complexion, with slight freckles on his arms and medium build. He tries to wear vintage suit coats on normal occasions, under assortments of form-fitting shirts. He wears an empty holster on his chest and on his ankle, hidden by his pant legs. He detest jeans (Thankfully, he can't find them anywhere either,) and sticks to loose khaki pants. His shoes go up past his ankles as well, but they never show anyways.
    Personality: He is a little bit of a smartass. He's not very trusting in people, but might come around to them if they show their worth. He gets distracted easily only by women, children, or ballistics. In times of battle, he's very collected and calm, but in everday situations he is arrogant and rude. He also has a tendency to degrade everything to tactical situations. As per usual with these character types, there's a nice side to him occasionally, but expect it too much.
    Reborn: Star-Child.
    Ability/Animal/Element: Ability to bypass ID-Tagged weaponry for immediate use. Slight regenerative factor.
    Potency: Seven.
    Skills/Talents:Tactical Knowledge, Ballistics Data, Close Quarters Combat,
    Other: Has a tendency to fight for the little guy. Regenerative factor is being slightly unknowingly developed on since he smokes constantly.
